The…read moreCrossover is home to Ice and Field, which offers ice skating, hockey, curling, ice shows, and lessons. Off the ice, the facility features an in-house gear pro shop and skate maintenance services, including skate sizing, sharpening, and gear. Further, the facility offers climate controlled indoor sports and fitness facilities as well as both natural and synthetic outdoor fields for year-round use. Beyond sports, the facility has a full bar, food trucks, and a small cafe (on the ice skating rink side). I hosted an ice skating birthday party for Thing Two a few weeks ago. The party was part of a birthday package this location offers that can be found here: https://iceandfield.com/parties-groups/ I opted to add the private lessons for the kids as well as the snow ball fight after the party ($525.00 total, not including the tip for the party host I left). The children at the party had a blast on the ice, but I did have a slight issue with the snowball fight. The "snow" was what was scraped up by the zamboni machine after the public skate. The snow was placed on the backside of the building for the kids to play in, however the snow wasn't roped off in any way so we as the party hosts/guest had to continue to tell others who came outside to play in the snow that this is "paid for snow" and not for public use. The private skating lesson was marked off with cones, and therefore, I assumed the snow would be the same way, but this was not the case. The pizzas for the party were not pizzas made at the location but were pizzas that were ordered from Dominos. For the price point and what was offered, it is on par with other venues that host kids' parties. Check out Gnet A's review of this location from a party guest perspective dated Nov 26th, 2023 (she was a guest at Thing Two's party). https://www.yelp.com/biz/ice-and-field-at-the-crossover-leander?hrid=Kkhjh7Wosdz3LeKjw1LM5Q&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct)

However, as I get older and wiser, I tend to branch out in my date Devil adventures...ever so slightly. On my bucket list for a date devil adventure is jumping from a plane. I'm not there yet for parachuting out of a plane. Today, was the big day for what I consider a dare devil adventure.... Ice skating. In my head I repeated this mantra.... Let's go, let's go, let's go!!! You got this. So, sheepishly I walk up to the counter and ask how much the entry fee was...$20 including skates... not cheap but not crazy expensive either. Ok. You can do this. I ask if I sit outside before I go on the ice. No problem the skate representative said. The fee included skating to 1 pm today. I had plenty of time to muster up my courage. Then my mind started to swirl and then spin...fast and faster! Next, I was in a full on Exorcist head turning moment. Girlie, you no spring chicken any more. You are not twenty years old. Why is it so cold in here? Why does it feel like ice is flowing through my veins? Remember when you broke your little toe in two places...exercising.... Ugly boot for three months...no heels for 1.5 years. Run Delores run!!! Your birthday is next month. Do you want to flat heels for your birthday. Nooooooooooooo!!! I jumped up and bolted out of Chaparral Ice like I was being chased my hungry pack of wolves. I applaud myself for trying to be adventurous today. However, I'm not quite there yet. Maybe after my birthday....

Ordered some things for son as he likes this style of clothing and mom loves Volcom. :) When the order arrived we realized the pants, even though, his size, were too big. Not a good thing. He was disappointed. But no fret. The tops were all perfect and we returned the pants and know that the sizes run a little big. If they would have had adjustable waists, it wouldn't have been SO BAD.. But It is ok. We know now. Quality of the clothing is great. It is durable. It is stylish. Closing time is listed at 8pm.  When we got there at 7:55,  both doors were locked. I saw multiple employees inside and all lights on. I proceeded to call the store directly asking them to open the doors so I could make my returns as it was only 7:55. The employee told me "oh yeah we are closed already" I said well it says you're open until 8:00 pm. They said "yeah well we already closed our registers." I asked if the person on the phone was the manager, they said "yes I'm the manager right now." I asked for the employee's name, they responded with "Noodle." I then asked what their last name is. They said "Sadin" and I asked them to spell it.  We drove here 30 minutes out of our way to make returns. It reflects badly in the store, management, and Outlet mall. Screenshots showing I was speaking with the store at 7:55 outside their door, and screenshots showing Google and Zumiez website lists closing at 8.

I've been staring at the walls of our home since March and losing my black-ass mind; so something where we could be outside, social distanced, distracted from the insanity of our country, and active was a must. I'm still not sure how I stumbled across Unhooked Sports and eFoiling but I'm so glad that I did. Paul was SUPER responsive to all of my emails was actually able to get us a private lesson for 2 within a week. Boyfriend researched eFoiling online and I was beyond stoked to try it. I was petrified. Until we met Paul at the lake and saw how organized, professional and prepared it all is. Paul provides helmets equipped with microphones and headphones, so he stayed in constant communication with us the entire time. Whether he was reminding us to speed up, lean this way, or just cheering us on; I never felt disconnected. Boyfriend is good at everything and it look him about 5 wipeouts before he picked it up. I never got to my knees, so I ended up having the most exhilarating boogie board experience. It is fun and a surprisingly good work as we're both still sore 4 days later. It is expensive; but consider that each eFoil board retails at $12,000 and we were using 3. There's also the tech for each of the helmets and Paul provided us with lifejackets. If you're into novel, one-of-a-kind activities, then the price tag won't scare you off. The 2 hours we spent outside, on the water, away from the world and having fun was worth it.
