Upon walking in, I was greeted by a nice woman who explained the recreation center to me. There are 2 swimming pools, one inside and one outside. They actually have water aerobics here! There's a walking track upstairs so there's a place to go when the weather outside is too hot too windy or too rainy to walk. They have a beautiful gym with a lot of equipment. They have a book share shelf. You can take a book or leave a book or both! They have lots of exercise classes and dance classes, including country and ballroom. They have yoga and more. This center is not just for young people or old people or children or men or women, it's for everybody! I saw so many different types of people, it was just a wonderful place to be. Everyone was so kind and the energy was so upbeat. As of the day that I am writing this review, the price is $30 a month. They do have programs for older people called Silver Sneakers, so even the old people can stay in shape! This is not a place to bring your dog. There are too many good things to say about this place. I submited a formal complaint regarding the coach who conducted a children's basketball program…read more His behavior toward both my daughter and me was completely unacceptable, verbally abusive, and entirely inappropriate for someone entrusted with teaching young children. had my complaint been taken seriously I would not be here posting about ithad my complaint been taken seriously I would not be here posting about it, but instead was shoved off. I also learned that a very similar situation occurred during another classes. My eight-year-old daughter became upset and was sent off the court after being publicly yelled at for an unknown reason. I calmed her down and sent her back, then coach immediately raised his voice at her and sent her off the court again. Unprovoked. I calmed her a second time and let her sit out for five minutes. She quietly rejoined her group, waited patiently in line for her turn, and when it was finally her turn, the coach screamed at her in front of every child and parent that he was "done with her" and that she needed to leave the "His court." This was the third time she had been publicly removed from class that day. At this point I was extremely confused. I had witnessed nothing that justified this level of hostility toward an eight-year-old child. Assuming I had missed something, I walked to the side of the court and waited respectfully for an opportunity to speak with the coach. I did not interrupt the class or demand his attention. I simply wanted to understand what had happened so I could address the issue appropriately with my daughter. Instead of speaking to me professionally, the coach yelled at me to get off "his court." I was standing along the same perimeter where other parents and people walking laps were located. He then stated that he was "done" with my daughter and that we needed to leave. My daughter had spent most of the session crying on the sidelines confused over the situation, and it was obvious this coach had no intention of handling the situation professionally. Rather than force my daughter to remain there in tears, I quietly collected my son and began leaving with both of my children. As I walked away, without saying a single word to him, the coach repeatedly and aggressively yelled across the gym at my back: "Let them go! Let them go! I don't care! Get off my court! Let them go!" I want to be absolutely clear: This entire confrontation was completely one-sided. As a parent, I trusted your organization with the care of my children. That responsibility includes their emotional well-being as much as their physical safety. These classes are designed for children between the ages of six and twelve. Young children become frustrated, cry, make mistakes, and need guidance. It is the responsibility of a coach to teach, encourage, and redirect them--not scream at them, publicly humiliate them, or repeatedly remove them from participation without explanation. Most heartbreaking of all is lasting impact this coach has had on an eight-year-old child. This is not coaching. This is not discipline. This is intimidation. We were the target of his aggression multiple times without explanation.

They do a good job of mixing pickleball in with tennis, and that's not always easy. Some of the courts are only accessible by crossing over other courts, and that is not optimal, but it's a public facility and tax dollars are probably better spent elsewhere instead of adding more sidewalks and gates.

On June 22nd at 12pm my 8-year-old daughter was aggressively approached by a father after leaving a…read moreYoung Rembrandts summer art class being provided by Pflugerville Parks and Recreation. At no time was my husband or I notified of an incident occurring at the facility or during art class. Rob McDonald and Whitney Seaton both employees of the Rec facility assumed I was aware of the situation solely based on speculation that my aunt who was caring for my daughter while I was away on business had been able to get a hold of me. The first time I heard from any party was when Rob McDonald called my cell phone to tell me the outcome or determination for my daughter's enrollment in the class. Rob called and stated my daughter could no longer attend art class at their facility. Rob and Whitney did not call us as parents to inform us of the incident or to tell us that you all would need to speak to all parties involved like my daughter or the other party BEFORE coming to a decision. They spoke to the other party ONLY and decided based on that one party. Due to the other party involved being Caucasian and us being minorities this does make the situation feel race related. It does cause my husband and I to feel like there are grounds for a civil suit for discrimination. Not only did you all reprimand my daughter, but you all allowed a white entitled father to also reprimand her. You all failed my daughter and did not keep her safe. Pflugerville Parks and Recreation Dept as a whole needs new procedures and policies in place to protect other children of color from discrimination like what my daughter was subjected to. You all are at fault for how this situation was handled. Young Rembrandts and the Pflugerville Parks and Recreation facility decided based on a "she said" scenario without communicating with all parties involved and doing an actual investigation. Our daughter was traumatized and terrified by the father that approached her. Rob and Whitney continue to word things like you aren't privy to what occurred at the facility entrance and framing things as if he approached my aunt and daughter. Please do not minimize or attempt to downplay what that father did. He walked up to my 8-year-old black daughter, and he said, "Did we have a problem today?" My then terrified 8-year-old responded to him and began to explain herself. This is a situation that no child should ever find themselves in. I will not stand for any injustices. I do not recommend this facility if you are a minority.

It's definitely an aging facility that doesn't boast the latest in exercise equipment, but we have those places around. Here's what I love: $2/hour child care, and it's GOOD -- people who seem to love kids are taking care of them. $1 walking track -- you can't beat that for a walking alternative when it's too hot, cold or rainy. Finally, great programming -- the swim lessons at Gilleland Creek, gymnastics for kids -- again, taught by kind, loving and knowledgable instructors. I really feel like this is a special gem that gives me the warm "pfuzzies" about Pflugerville! :)

You can tell the coaches enjoy what they do, it shows with good vibes and a lot of laughter. I like the way they talk to their students, in charge but encouraging. The price is right. We just visited their Leander location last Saturday and had a different coach, it was an equally great experience. My son walks out red face and sweaty with a large smile on his face and he sleeps well that night. What more could I ask for?!
