- 1 Star for the food (was very very tasty). - 1 Star for the employee who took our order at the kiosk. Super kind guy who got us all taken care of. Unfortunately, the stars stop there. Will give benefit of the doubt based on other great reviews, and maybe we came on a bad day for the owner, but the whole lunch was wildly awkward. The owner constantly spoke down to the one other employee working in the main area - publicly in front of guests - and yelled at not one, but two separate groups dining in the restaurant during our short (30ish minute) stop. Kind of killed the vibe for everyone as we ate the rest of our lunch in silence, feeling bad for the employee and other guests. Owner bragged about his "perfect 5-star rating" openly while we were waiting to order and said we wouldn't find better food in-town. While I can agree and affirm the taste of the food, the disheartening attitude of the owner towards both his employees and customers should not warrant 5-stars. Best burger and fries! Just like the reviews say, best burger, crispy hot French fries, and super friendly staff. The owner will buzz by your table and talk to you, so don't be anti social. Recognized for his training under a French Chef and cooking for the Army, the owner locally sources about 75% of his products. Other than all these accolades, he brews up some creative green and red chilis. I would definitely put this on your must try list whether you are a local or visiting the area. We stopped in here on our way to Taylor Park. Super friendly owner, all locally sourced meat and fresh ingredients. Owner was in there working; service was friendly, fast, and efficient. We had the Gyro burger which had a fresh and tasty meat patty with a large slice of gyro meat on top with Grecian sauce. The fries were crispy and delicious. The other guys had a Cubans and polished them off quickly. If you like fresh and fast; I highly recommend stopping in for a bite. read more

The chicken salad sandwich had cilantro and cumin in it and was so tasty. My husband got the smoked mesquite chicken BLT, and he could hardly put it down. It was so great. This is a really conveniently located restaurant right off the highway in Salida. The decoration inside is a little dated, but there's a large emphasis on music and rock & roll. This must have been our fourth time coming to this restaurant, found it to be a great spot after hitting the slopes & getting a quick bite before heading home. Food has always been great and always been treated with amazing service from the owner, himself & his staff. However, this last time we went in and most likely will be the last time we will ever go was when I brought a friend, & ordered two chicken sandwiches. The owner will know exactly who we are once he sees this review. My friend forgot to mention about changing her bread to the gluten free option when she initially ordered. Remembered about 5 minutes after the order had been placed, told the server & the message was sent to the kitchen. The owner comes out annoyed of the inconvenience and proceeds to tell my friend that because of her mistake she now cost him a bun of sandwich. Proceeded to give her a lecture over insisting that he isn't afraid to tell her that she just made him waste food. Keep in mind, it's an extra dollar to change to that type of bread, which she paid the difference and even included a cookie in the order to make the credit card charge worth it. Let me also add that it was "busy" when we walked in & there were multiple orders that went in after us. I have worked in the service industry before and know that customers forget to mention things or make mistakes & then it's up to the restaurant to take that L, it's apart of being in the restaurant industry. But that's not even the case here that bun could've been used for a separate order that came in after ours, like I said there was only a couple of minutes of delay & as long it takes for food to come out, I don't think anyone would have missed out on the quality of food and no waste would've been made. But the emphasis to lecture a customer about how a business works is not good service. It was a mistake, no evil intention was made. If anything like I have mentioned, we were very intentional in our apology when we were paying the difference. I also overheard the sever talking to a local customer about how many local restaurants are closing down and it's hard to keep businesses a float since it's a small town. I completely understand about not wanting to waste food and how businesses might be struggling. However, then the owner went on to talk to that local customer & asked how his day was going, & he said "oh just having a crabby day, it needs to be the end of the day already". I will assure you that the owner was in a great mood before our little mistake, even greeted us, participated in small talk but as soon as that little mistake was done his whole demeanor changed toward US. Wouldn't acknowledge us and making smart remarks while we were still present. So we felt that comment was targeted at us. Making us feel unwelcome. The food is amazing, but will never return with that type of treatment. So if you have all your ducks in a row, & never make a mistake, this place is for you. & if you do make mistakes & don't mind being talked down to when you do, go for it! Oooor just make sure the owner is having a good day, so that way you're not the punching bag. & before the owner wants to say, why didn't we bring this up to him in person, well from the review you can already tell he wasn't in the mood to take any feedback. Maybe by giving feedback through this avenue he can understand that this is how things are NOW, & people will come in to your business, pretend you can treat them anyway you want, leave & place reviews like this. No one will be silenced because of bully treatment. No matter how good your food is, it needs to be accompanied with good service to make the restaurant reputable. So to start off I really love the overall vibe of this place. It's a smaller restaurant that has a very groovy feel to it. Its obvious that this restaurant is locally owned and the owner loves his job. He was there serving the customers and had a very friendly energy. It is 100% worth it!I I walked in and everyone was just staring at me i don't even know why. So anyways I order my food and sit down, then I was bored so a started staring at a lady and she just stared back what a creep! So while I was waiting the owner came out and had a conversation with me that I didn't want to be in, and let me tell you have have social anxiety, and this guy went out of his way to talk to me multiple times. (If you are reading this your an appsolute Legend! Lol my life is pretty lonely thanks for talking to me!) Oh! and it is a whispering panic breeding ground! Lol it was really the place where your girlfriend goes and breaks the news to you that she is pregnant and have a sandwich while you are at it. I saw the reviews and that it was a food truck previously while we were visiting Salida two weeks ago. I knew as long as they could accommodate gluten free that we were in! I called when we got in to town for another trip because we loved Salida so much. They informed me that they had gluten free buns and lettuce wrapped options. It was a 10 minute walk from our hotel so we decided to try it and the locally sourced food is a huge plus. The person at the counter person was helpful and knowledgeable and polite. They offer specials that I imagine change. They looked delicious by description. I got the lettuce wrap chicken salad which has a Southwest flair and it was awesome! I opted for coleslaw and I am so grateful that I did because it was the best I have eaten in a long time. It had a different crunchy element like broccoli or cauliflower shredded in it. I want more! I tried a little piece of the patties on my son and husband's burgers and you can tell how fresh and well raised the meat is. I can't wait to get a burger of my own next time! The smoke burger is extra special because the patty is smoked and so good! And oops I almost forgot how good the fries are! We ate here on Thursday 10/6 and what great food. We both had the hamburger with fries. The best burger in town. They hand cut their fries and cook them perfectly.
