It was surprising to find a nice, cozy diner tucked in the middle of a strip mall. We stopped here on our way back from visiting the Deception Pass and had a pleasant meal. My spouse got the Chicken Fried steak and eggs, while I got the Chilly Burger. Food was flavorful, well prepared, and the fries were crispy. Overall, we had a nice meal. Came to Curious Chef for breakfast and I'm just going to start off with while it wasn't the worst, I'd never go back by my own choosing. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. The price was a little more expensive than other breakfast spots in town, but not bad. It took awhile for our meals to get to us, and when they did, they were pretty bland/average. This review pertains to their breakfast menu, I haven't had anything else here. The Curious Chef is a hidden little gem inside of the dying outlet malls in Burlington. If you are judging a place by it's cover, well you likely won't ever go in here. I've learned long ago that this is a bad strategy when trying to find good places to eat. Look, this is standard American diner breakfast fare, but it is done right. Their shredded hashbrowns are crispy yet fluffy and moist, a rare trait. The eggs are usually cooked the way I ordered them, and the portions are generous. The prices are more than fair as well. If you are craving a good classic diner breakfast, it doesn't get much better than this in the Valley. It isn't a place where everything is homemade or anything like that but they care about the product, cook it right and it just tastes good, really good. read more

We were vacationing & just passing through town. We tried this place our first morning for breakfast & it was so good that we went back on the second day before leaving town. On the first day, I had the farmers scramble & my husband had the standard bacon & eggs. The food was delicious & the portions plentiful. On Day 2 I had the pancake/egg special & my husband had the scramble. Again, delicious! I attempted to order off the Children's menu due to my personal dietary restrictions. Smaller portion for a smaller price of $8.00. There was no al a cart items available. Senior menu was offered to my father (after inquiry) at a smaller senior portion with only $1.00 off regular price. Breakfast plates are approx. $14.00 - $16.00. Quality of food is higher at this establishment from past experience. They would NOT allow me to order a child's meal. I was NOT asking for anything but the portion of their childrens menu, at the price they had put on that menu. THEY said NO. Instead they offered me a whopping 10% off the regular size menu plate (approx. 1.40 to 1.60 off) and a somewhat smaller portion for it. Um no. If they had put the needs of a customer first our bill would have been $28.00 plus tax and tip for the 2 meals and 1 beverage. $4.00 juice, $16.00 breakfast and a $8.00 breakfast. Which to me is better than nothing at all. It would have come with a good recommendation and review to my network of friends/family. Now, I will never show patronage to them again, I will tell everyone I know to NOT as well. When they fed the community during covid I praised their efforts, but when a paying customer simply wants to purchase a smaller meal to not be wasteful and am not allowed to do so SHAME on them. Freedom of choice? You bet. You can choose to not serve your customers a child's meal and I can choose to not be a customer. Zero stars. Won't ever be back. I went down the road and was served a children's meal with a smile, they got q $20 tip for an $18.00 meal cause this is NOT about the money! read more

We had a wonderful breakfast this morning, great food, great service and very COVID19 friendly with tables set far apart. We had Aubrey for our waiteress and she delivered personal strawberry jam & marmalade, hot sauce & ketchup rather than having the condiments available on the table as you would find them in normal times. 10% off for the seniors discount was a nice touch and the 20% gratuity I left was well deserved. First, the map that displays on the right there is wrong. This place IS in the Outlet mall on the west side of Burlington Blvd, not the east side. I saw the reviews here on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I like mom-n-pop style places with good old American comfort food, and I liked this place, with two caveats. One, the space is kind of strange. It's a retail space with carpet and an acoustic drop ceiling. (The advantage, though, is that even though the place had plenty of people, it was quiet.) It's nice and spacious, so that's nice. Just a little odd. Second, it's a bit overpriced. The menu is long and that's nice, and the food was good and in ample portion, but it's pretty basic and cost a fair bit more than I'd expect. Then again, I would have had to pay as much for breakfast or lunch at any of the surrounding chain restaurants, so I s'pose it's OK, especially since the service was excellent -- competent and friendly. All in all, I liked it and will likely go back when I'm not in a Red Robin mood. read more

I was pleasantly surprised! If you are looking for good home style cooking without the frills and "atmosphere" then this is the place for breakfast. The wait staff is great, the food is excellent. I had the Mexican omelette and I was not disappointed. The decor is really minimal and it looks like a cafeteria. But who needs anything more? The Curious Chef catered my daughters wedding last week. The place to my understanding normally doesn't cater, but I'm so glad they did. The wait staff was friendly, attentive and full of personality. The food on the other hand was absolutely top notch. They served a Mexican chicken tortilla casserole as the appetizer. Wow! Everyone (130 people) raved over it. The salad was good, but the entree was absolutely amazing. The dish was Chicken Cordon Bleu with hollandaise. The chicken was prepared perfectly and the sauce was very flavorful. As you can see from the picture, they added the heart in sauce. Nice touch. I can't wait to try the Curious chef restaurant in person. Nice work catering such a special event for my daughter and new son in law. read more

Greasy spoon with Mexican food. Overpriced considering quality of food and slow service. The taco salad was typical of a mall offering back in the 1980s, though the guacamole was good. I'm not usually into diner/breakfast places but this place was pretty good! We had the Tuna Melt with french fries and the Cobb Salad with seafood subbed for the chicken and bacon. The Tuna Melt used a higher quality of tuna than one would normally see at a place like this and I could definitely taste the difference. The Seafood/Cobb salad was so flavorful and fresh I didn't even put dressing on it. The service was friendly and timely and our water and coffee were refilled often. Our waitress in particular was super happy and helpful and really made our visit quite pleasant. If we return to the area we will be back in for sure! read more

We eat here whenever we are at the Outlet Mall. This place never disappoints! I've had many items from breakfasts-- great eggs, bacon, hash browns..to tasty lunches of homemade chilli, soups, BLTs, club sandwich, hard to choose a favorite. And the dinners range from a full turkey with all the trimmings, to liver and onions as well as a full range of Mexican dishes. The only things I haven't tried are the pies. Always too full! If they are as good as everything else , they'll be delicious. My biggest problem with this place is trying to decide what to order. Ate here yesterday and was torn between breakfast and lunch. Finally compromised and had the BLT. Lots of very good bacon, fresh lettuce--not of the iceberg variety, and a tomato that actually had taste. Had a choice of fries, green salad or fresh fruit. The fruit was also tasty-honeydew, watermelon,cantaloupe and grapes. Not the hard, unripe version you often get. All for a good price too! I remain a loyal fan. read more

This is our go-to restaurant after a shopping trip at Seattle Premium Outlet. We don't get to visit as much because we live in Vancouver, but getting to eat here is an absolute treat every single time (plus it's my dad's favorite diner)!! The whole restaurant just radiates this feeling of comfort and warmth, and the servers are welcoming and incredibly nice. Our go to order is the super burger and Swiss mushroom burger, and believe me when I say that they taste amazing. You don't get quality meals anywhere else like you do here, and the fries are so crispy yet not overly salty-just the way I like it!
