Came in on a Tuesday around 11:30 AM for lunch. We were really hoping that we beat the crowds…read morebecause we usually don't go here anymore only because we don't like to wait and wait to be seated and then wait some more. What can I say? We were really hungry and really wanted their food and they have a nice variety on their menu. So we waited. It didn't even seem like there were that many people waiting or on the waiting list. Nonetheless, we waited probably 20 minutes in the entry. They called our name and seated us. They have a lot of tables set up throughout their space. I see there is seating upstairs but not sure when/if they seat up there. Their restrooms are now gender neutral and one toilet. That's nice! There was a changing table in the one I visited. The server came around within about five minutes and when we ordered our food, It took about another 20 to 25 minutes. I had time to shop the whole adjacent store, make a purchase and still waited awhile for our food. This is always a period of time that feels like it takes forever because by now you're starving and have looked at all of their sweets in the display case while in the waiting area and smelled all the cinnamon scented candles and the food being prepared in the kitchen. My Linda's brother-in-law scramble was delicious. I opted for the bacon sprinkled. It didn't seem like 4 dollars worth of bacon and there's plenty of flavor in that scramble otherwise. $23.54 with the bacon sprinkles. My hubby had the country biscuits and gravy, and he said it was good. $17.79. My husband did mention that he was disappointed that the country biscuit and gravy didn't automatically come with their breakfast potatoes. You have to choose- eggs OR potatoes. He ordered a side of breakfast potatoes, and it was a small bowl. $6.50. We shared the French toast and took most of that to go as well as some of the hash. $14.99. It was plain. We both had water to drink and had to ask for a refill. That all came up to $68.47 plus tip. The receipt says, "If you pay cash, your total may be rounded per this location's payment policy." I didn't see what that policy says.

Calico Cupboard is one of those places that you NEED to go to when you're in town…read more When you get there, you just sign in yourself at the stand which is a good system so no one has to check you in when they're already pretty busy. While you're waiting you can go to the shop down the stairs or go to the dessert area right next to the waiting area to get some great desserts. Last time i was there I saw frosted cream cheese sugar cookies, and pies, and more. When you get seated there are so many great food options, lots of options, same with drinks. They are only open until 3:30 pm so be sure to manage time well. And don't expect an empty place, it's usually populated. Tight space, so scoot in those chairs as far as you can. Staff were laid back, and nice. When they're busy make sure to be patient with the staff, they're dealing with tons of other orders as well.

This is one of those "hole in the wall" sort of places. It appears to be a repurposed fast food…read morejoint, possibly a Taco Bell. Anyway, it's now run by a nice couple. All their food is prepared to order and fresh. As an aside, this means it isn't cheap. Not extravagant, but not cheap. That said we felt it was worth the price and will come back. I had a bowl of their clam chowder. It was really good chowder, obviously house made as evidenced by the various sized chunks of potato, celery and onion. It had plenty of clams too and was perfectly creamy and thick. Not gloppy thick but just right. The wife had the cream cheese stuffed French toast with raspberry sauce. It looked like more of a dessert item to me - three pieces, cut in half on the diagonal, stacked on top of each other, stuffed with the cream cheese and topped with the raspberry sauce and a big dollop of whipped cream. She loved it!!! It is now her favorite breakfast item, surpassing her old favorite; triple berry crepes. Service was ok, it took a while to get the food, but that's how it is in a small joint with freshly prepared food. We'll worth the wait and cost.

Second time we have been there and once again disappointed. My husband ordered a Chorizo scramble,…read moreit was very dry the cheese was very limited that it made it very hard to even pick up on a fork without crumbling over. I ordered an Eggs Benedict and the poached eggs were over cooked! When they e waitress finally came to our table to see how our plates were I was already half done with my meal, but to her credit did bring a replacement poached egg even though the rest of my breakfast was cold. Service was very limited that I had to ask twice to get a cup of coffee refilled (cups are small) I will also say when we entered the restaurant the hostess did not greet us or even smile to make us feel welcomed, just pointed us to the dining room. Cleanliness was another issue , starting with the white front door that has blackened hand prints but I have said enough to be disappointed again I will say the menu had a variety of choices but the prices are higher than what is reflected on their web sight!

I stopped in on "Black Friday" on my way to a medical appointment…read more The Porterhouse Pub was open and had a few tables occupied, so there was no problem getting seated. I noticed a bunch of slates with beer names and spotted a cider from Terramar advertising a Strawberry Rhubarb cider and decided I wanted to try that flavor combination. It was sweet with a little tart aftertaste. For my meal I opted for the Porterhouse Cheese Curds as an appetizer and the Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich with fries for my main dish. The cheese curds were nicely battered and fried and the housemade ranch was a nice accompaniment to the cheese curds. The spicy crispy chicken sandwich was only crispy on the outside where the batter was applied! The rest of the chicken was tender and juicy. So tasty . I didn't think the sandwich was all that spicy, but that would be my fault because I eat jalapeno like candy and routinely use habanero hot sauce on my food. Even though I didn't think it was all that spicy I did enjoy the flavor and crunch of the sandwich. There was a bunch of steak fries served with my sandwich. Excellent fries, but way too many for me to eat them all. I think I probably ate only 1/4 of them!! I was very tempted to order a slice of the chocolate cheesecake with housemade fudge for dessert, but I was stuffed by my appetizer and meal.

The service was fast and friendly, and the prices were super affordable. I especially appreciated that they had one of my favorite seltzers, from Stemma Brewing, on tap! We enjoyed a couple of appetizers. The calamari was crispy and delicious, and served with a side of tasty aioli. Although not quite enough aioli, as we ran out about half way through the calamari and had to order more. (Tbh I was kinda surprised when I saw they had charged us for the "extra" aioli.) The hot artichoke dip was good, too, though the portion was pretty small for the price. I'd come back again, but maybe during happy hour as it might be a better value.
