She helped me try on multiple types of dresses to determine exactly what type of dress was best for my body type as well as the Maggie Sottera I had found online. We connected instantly due to her excellent personality and her desire to help me find and fall in love with my perfect dress. She understood that I had a very specific vision and although the shop does not carry such niche dresses (black and colors) the experience and her desire to help me was fantastic. I'm so torn on my review for this store... I scheduled a VIP experience here which means the store is for you and your guests only and I really liked that option as this was my first dress try on ever and I was nervous as ever. I was so happy to see a plus size bridal store so that size wouldn't be an issue. & In that department they knocked it out of the park. I never worried once if a dress wouldn't fit. Michelle who does their art work and gifts and greetings was amazing and I wish she was my sales girl. They are a smaller store so there's not and abundance of variety but there's options. However my overall experience I left with was not great and mainly due to my sales rep MaryAnn. In the beginning she was awesome, very friendly and welcoming. She made me feel hopeful that I might find my dress. Now I had 4 family members with me to get their opinions and thoughts. My family is a no nonsense type of crowd and aren't afraid to say their opinions which is why I brought them. But also they know me they understand ME. Maryann had told them in the beginning they could look for dresses for me but just don't pull them off. No problem. And my appointment was 2hrs (4-6pm) Halfway through my appointment As I'm trying on dresses and seeing what I like and dislike I get the feeling of being rushed by MaryAnn. I notice my family are getting less pictures and opinions in before she's like NEXT. In my head I'm like woah did 2hrs pass by, is the appointment almost over? Well I look at the time and it's only 5, 5!! I still have an hour left! Why is she rushing me? My family noticed and immediately felt the tension in the air as they know I can be walked over on and this is my day not anyone else's. So I remain calm and keep trying on dresses but it's a lot to take in, I'm trying to process and here's MaryAnn "IS IT A YES OR NO?!" Seriously? My aunt went out to look for a specific style of dress which we now know is called Aline She did not know this at first and when trying to describe it by calling it a straight down MaryAnn felt the need to constantly tell her "that's not what it's called but wouldn't advise the correct name. She insisted my aunt was talking about fit n flare but she WASNT! She is the professional not us so if I Describe some thing she should be able to understand and help find what I'm looking for rather than focus on verbiage. This happened multiple times. Another example was my grandmother said I should wear white (after trying on a nude dress) and here is MaryAnn "no , she should wear white. She should wear ivory. All these dresses are ivory" this comment was unnecessary as my grandmother was just saying not nude & I understood that. She also was too opinionated for me at times, as a plus size bride trying on in fitting rooms is a hard experience no matter what so when I try on a dress and before I get to even look at it she says immediately she doesn't like how it looks on me I don't like that. let me look at it see how I feel and show my family I don't need you instantly telling me what you think looks ugly on me because , God for bid I liked it then it would have been awkward. The straw that broke the camels back was at the end my grandmother wanted to see veil options just to see if it would help Marianne felt the need to shut her idea down immediately saying there's no point in looking at avails if I haven't found my dress my party disagreed as they want to see a veil so when trying on another dress my grandmother suggested again can we please see avail Mary and again immediately denied it my cousin was fed up she stated very clearly "if she wants to try on a veil then she will try on a veil." finally we got a veil from Marianne. I didn't find a dress I liked but the veil really did help the vision and I'm the kind of person who needs time to think on some thing so one of these dresses may have stuck out later and I would have come back to buy one but after Marianne's attitude and mannerisms I do not want to come back I felt she felt I was not buying a dress so the sale was not there so my appointment was unnecessary because the last hour she rushed and denied every idea and friendly attitude disappeared I don't care if I don't buy a dress I paid them for a VIP experience and that's what I deserve they lost the sale because there were dresses that I would be interested in coming back to see but I'm not her customer service need some work I don't care how long she's been in the industry as she felt the need to tell us again and again. I don't want to give this store zero stores because of a bad experience with one sales person. I truly appreciate their store for other plus size brides out there. But please she really should work on her customer service and seeing brides as just a sale, especially ones that pay for VIP Experience. read more

I came here with a friend to help her with the daunting task of finding a dress. I was impressed this place had a perfect 5 Yelp stars so we decided to give it a shot. I now see why based on our excellent customer service experience. I have to give it to this place - it looks small but they have a great selection of items for both curvy brides and MOB/MOG. They offer to order you items they don't carry. They will bring you out swatches so you can see the different colors, etc. We didn't have an appointment but Paige graciously welcomed us into the showroom. She patiently showed us gowns, assisted us with carrying them, etc., then respected our privacy and dignity to try them on without her. The customer service here is so wonderful, she really warmed my heart. We didn't purchase here YET! We're still mulling things over. As a plus size woman who is getting married, I was so anxious about whether or not I would find a dress that was right for me for my big day. When I saw the curvy bride in my boutique searches, I knew I had to book an appointment. I scheduled a VIP appointment which was $100 and I had the largest fitting room with one on one help, and was greeted with snacks and champagne. The store has tons of samples and all of the dresses are size 16+ so you can really fit into any of the options. My bridal assistant, MaryAnn made me feel so comfortable and really took the time to understand my needs as a destination wedding bride. We pulled a variety of dresses and she helped me to narrow down my choices as we tried dresses on by pointing out areas where the dress highlighted features of my body, or didn't serve my needs for the event that I was hosting. If you wear a size 12 in street clothes or larger this is definitely a spot to check out. I went to a few bridal boutiques and had a horrible time squeezing into bridal gowns sample sizes made for street clothes sizes: 6-10... when I wear a 12/14. I decided to check out this shop and I was beyond delighted with everything about it! The salon decor and ambiance, the gown selections, the staff and service, and especially the owner Michelle. My daughter had severe gown regret and contacted the store within a week asking if she could pick a different dress. they had misrepresented several facts about the original dress as well. They refused to switch to another dress or refund any money. I was visiting family in PA for the first time since Covid, and in that time span, I was lucky enough to get engaged to the best guy. I thought it might be fun to try on some dresses with my mom and sister, didn't plan to buy as we haven't set a date yet (just know the general time frame of when) & I live in LA. MaryAnn was my consultant and she was so warm and friendly that my normally anxious self was at ease. (The entire staff was lovely.) I gave her my budget ($2k tops) & showed her some pictures of dresses I had liked (I didn't like ballgowns but all my samples were ballgowns LOL) but she showed me how we could make them less fluffy which made a big difference. I didn't want to be swallowed by my dress. We tried on a Maggie Sotterro first and I thought this is gonna be the one - it screamed me with the sparkles! We tried on some more, some were better than others, but I never felt pressured to buy. I appreciated her honesty as well - some dresses were better on me than others, she was ok letting me know! I had one dress left to put on, a Stella York, that was similar to one I liked but wasn't in stock. I wanted to see what I thought of the fabric as it was different than the others I was drawn to. The moment that dress came on I started to panic - now there were TWO dresses I loved...but this one had pockets! We stepped out to show my mom and sister and both really liked it. I looked at the mirror and felt so pretty, I had to try it with a veil. We paired it with a Sotterro viel that had beautiful details and I lost it, crying like a baby. The reaction that everyone had with the viel on, MaryAnn calling over her coworker to look, I felt like a bride and was so excited to get married. Never in a million years would I have looked at this dress and said "that's me" but sometimes the dress chooses you. Best of all, the dress and veil kept close to the budget (taxes knocked us over) so we purchased the dress. I cannot wait for it to arrive, I just wish I lived closer to have it altered with them as well, because I had such a lovely time at their shop. I cannot say enough positive things about Curvy Bride. I didn't want an experience where i felt fat, trying to squeeze into a dress ultimately to have my whole butt hanging out & and being rushed through the appointment . Every bride wants to feel thin, and special ! Curvy bride made me feel just that. From the moment i made an appointment i just felt welcomed. I was a few minutes late to my appointment and was still greeted with several warm smiles and treated as if i had all of the time in the world. My consultant Stacy was so helpful ! I'm having a short engagement, so my dress shopping day went like: tried on 3 dresses from Azazie at home, thinking I'd be ordering from them because of their 4 week turnaround. Tried on 7-8 dresses at David's Bridal, only liked 2 kind of, worried about the 12 week production time. Got to my appointment at The Curvy Bride, talked with Stacy about what I like, my timeline, and my budget, and she suggested I start with the sample sale to both meet timeline and budget needs. I found several dresses that would fit me and interested me in the sample sale, and she helped me try them all. She had great comments on how each fit me, and the quality of each, and was incredibly helpful and kind and understanding! We got through 5 dresses I think, we went to see if there was anything else I wanted to try, I found one more to try, and ultimately ended up leaving the store with the second dress I tried on! I had such an amazing experience here, and found my dream dress! I worked with Stacey, who was fantastic and made me feel beautiful. As someone who has struggled with body image my whole life, I was dreading dress shopping and put it off. I'm a street size 14, and don't wear plus size street clothes, so I had a hard time labeling myself as a plus size bride. I decided to try to have an open mind based on the reviews, and I'm really glad I did. The dresses they had here actually fit me, and were even a little big. They were made for women like me without compromise! I didn't feel like I was putting on dresses that were made to hide anything or make me feel like I had to settle for anything less than spectacular. The experience here was perfect. You get your own room where your guests sit, so it feels private and you feel special. Stacey listened to my requests and pulled a variety of styles for me to try. I had come in requesting one specific dress I saw online, and she put me in that first. It was perfect, and I knew I loved it. But she let me try on a few others so I could be sure. I had made a few other appointments that day, so I was hesitant to commit. So we left and went next door to Castle Couture. The experiences were so different... I felt so ugly in that factory salon. There was no special feeling. They put me in things that didn't even come close to fitting, let alone meeting my style requests. I almost left in tears. Thank god I came to The Curvy Bride first, otherwise I probably would have put off the dress for even longer. After that nightmare, we got lunch nearby and poured over photos. I'm sorry to say that I need to post a negative review on the curvy bride, but hope to have other brides avoid the disappointment that I had last weekend. I was super happy to have found a place that catered to curvy brides. I am a street size 14-16 and knew I would not be able to try gowns on at a regular bridal salon. I had heard great things about this place and thought I would be in great hands. Unfortunately my experience wasn't great or really even good. I went with my mom, MOH, sister in law and another one of my brides maids. I had a 1:00 appt and arrived a few minutes early. I was greeted about 1:15 after the receptionist asked if I had an appt and I said yes and she asked if I had been greeted yet and I said I had not been. My consultant Maria honestly didn't seem like she wanted to be there or if she could be bothered. When she asked me what I was looking for , I showed her my Pinterest page. I showed here a few dress photos that we're all very similar . She said we don't have those designers and that I should have looked at their website before making an appointment. Which I had done and found to be a bit rude for her to say that to me. I wasn't looking for a specific designer I was looking for similar styles. I felt like she didn't really know the inventory , and I was limited to only a few gowns. She wasn't mean, but she certainly wasn't friendly. She really didn't pull gowns that I had shown her I liked, my sister in law ended up going to the front and pulling gowns that had the silhouette I was looking for. Ultimately I felt like I was limited on options and left disappointed. I had asked to see another dress or two and she said that I only had 15 minutes left. ( I arrived early and she started 15 minutes late, so a 90 min appt was 75 min). She truly seemed like she couldn't be bothered. I left disappointed and thought that if I had to go back I was going to ask for another person to help me , as I had a friend who had a good experience but a different woman helped her. Luckily I didn't have to go back. After I left there I made an appt at Seng Couture I went to that appt. yesterday . Seng also had a plus size shop with a vast and beautiful selection of gowns. The woman I had there was incredible and I said yes to the dress and bought my wedding gown there. (Check that review) Ladies , the consultant that helps you makes a huge difference. I believe my experience at Curvy Bride may have been very different had I had another consultant. Shopping for a wedding dress is supposed to be a fun and exciting experience. I chose to share this experience with 3 family members and my best friend. I was really excited about trying on a particular dress at this shop that was on the website, so we made an appointment. The shop was a but far, but my friends and family happily made the hour and a half drive for this dress appointment. When we arrived we stood in the front area of the shop for a while before being greeted. Once we were, I introduced myself and she went and got the consultant for my appointment. Pretty standard, right? What followed was far from the experience you'd hope for the first time your family has come to see you try on wedding dresses. The Consultant asked what I was looking for, I showed her the picture directly from their website and said this was the one we came for and as far as looking at other options id like something with an illusion neckline and nothing form fitting. She said the one they had in store was a different color than the picture, which was not problem at all. She then asked my budget and I said around $1,500. Which seemed like a reasonable budget to me, she said great and went to grab some dresses. She returned with 3. The first was extremely form fitting and I said that's not what I was looking for and preferred to try something else. She said to at least show my friends and family since they "get mad when you don't show them" . I hesitantly went out, in a dress that looked horrendous on me, to absolute crickets from my friends and family. They hated it, I hated it, it was the furthest thing from what I wanted to try on or be seen in, but I figured this was just part of the process so I went along with it.The next she said was the one from the picture. It didn't look quite right but I tried it on without questioning it, and it was similar, but definitely not the dress I came all that way to see. I said it looked a bit different and she responded with "I said it would". I then explained that the back was not at all the same as the one in the picture. Her response? "Yeah, well I told you it was different." I shrugged it off and hoped that one of the next ones would be the one I was looking for. While she was fastening this particular dress she said "Maybe with your budget you'd do better somewhere like David's Bridal". First of all, I've never been in a retail environment where they encourage you to spend your money elsewhere, nor have I been in one that's made a comment like that to make me feel as though my money wasn't enough there. $1,500 seems relatively reasonable for a wedding dress to me, and that's where I said I'd like to stay around. That's not to say I wouldn't have spent a bit more had a I found the right dress. At this point, I kept my opinion on her comment to myself. I went out in the dress and my guests could tell I wasn't happy at all, they also recognized that was not the dress pictured. My friend then asked if we could see everything out together and add a veil. The consultant said ok, they're over there, and pointed to a rack in the corner. Now, I've only been to one other bridal shop for myself but I have been to plenty with friends, and you're never left to piece things together yourself. The consultants are always trying to complete your look and make you feel like ... well, a Bride. I went back in, she pulled out another ridiculously form fitting dress. I explained that I did not want that and she went to grab more. I was left in the fitting room for a while and not even offered a robe or some kind of cover up to go out and sit with my family in. She eventually came back with a few more dresses, none of them with the neckline I was looking for and nothing like the silhouette I described in the beginning. I then asked if they had any more with the illusion neckline because that was really what I wanted, and all I came in for. Her response? "No. we don't have any budget dresses like that" At this point, I'd had enough with this woman. I said I wasn't aware that $1,500 was considered a budget dress. She said it was. I then went out in one more dress and when she walked away my family and friend all said how awful this was and asked if I wanted to go somewhere else - I was very quick to take them up on that. I went back in to a fitting room full of a new lineup of dresses that were again, nothing like what I asked for. The woman said after I try those on I can go out into the showroom and start picking dresses myself. I explained that I was not interested and we would be leaving. She then went and got the owner of the store who asked that I show her pictures of what I was looking for. At this point, I was so beyond fed up that it wasn't even worth it. I showed the consultant pictures, I explained what I wanted many times, and I was made to feel like my money was not good enough there. Amazing. Awesome experience. They listened to all my wants and need and found me the most amazing dress. I was completely comfortable with all the staff, and had everyone's full attention (unlike some places, this salon has two rooms instead of 20, so you are taken care of!) When I picked my dress, they even brought out champagne and hugged us! Plus size ladies know how hard it is out there when you're trying to find a wedding gown. All the models online are tiny little things and half the boutiques don't even have dresses you can try on. I had just been to one such shop before a family member pointed me toward this one. First impression: they list their designers online and you can view their dresses before going to the shop. Some of them even have photos of their dresses on plus size ladies. Yay! I came to my appointment with a list of dresses I wanted to try. This shop only has room for two appointments at a time. The fitting areas are private and spacious, with seating for any friends or family who may come along. At the appointment, Paige brought out dress after dress after dress, it was never ending. Right off the bat, it was the first time I had ever felt like a bride while trying on a wedding gown. She asked me what I liked and didn't like about each one so she could guide me toward the right style, and she didn't fool around with stuff I didn't want to try. She also openly invited comments from my maid of honor, who was there with me. I must have tried on 10 gowns. I chose one that I really loved and made a second appointment. At my second appointment I tried on a few more gowns just for my own peace of mind before choosing for real the one I had loved from the start. I was surprised with a glass of champagne after finalizing the order, and Paige was kind enough to take a photo of my mother and I while I was still wearing the dress. Just days earlier I had been crying because after a year of searching I'd had noting but bad or lackluster experiences. After an awful experience at another bridal shop, I was nervous for my appointment with Curvy Bride. I could tell before my appointment when they called and texted to confirm my appointment, that this was going to be a much better and more professional experience. I had a fantastic appointment with Paige last Thursday. She was patient and extremely helpful. She also understood what I was looking for, and helped me find the perfect dress. There was never any pressure to buy, and she was upfront about the cost of dresses I picked out if they were over my budget. She is an absolute godsend! With her help, I was able to find the perfect dress!! Also, this store has so many options for women with curves. We all know how limited other shops can be when it comes to bigger sizes! I had a wonderful experience at the curvy bride. From the moment I walked in the two women there Michelle and Maria we very accommodating. They greeted my family and I and we looked around while the previous appointments left. You get one whole side to yourself, as there are two appointment's usually going on at the same time and there is a divider which I liked. I had a dress in mind when I went it and was very happy to find out they had it. I fell in love immediately with the dress as well as another dress. Its true when they say you get this feeling if it's the right dress. Maria made me feel like I was a princess and once I picked my dress she helped me with my veil, which I bought there as well. After our purchase, she brought out champagne and Michelle gave us bottled water for our trip back to long island. I waited for the last minute because of nerves and they really have the best selection if you are curvy and settled my worries. Just a tip, go to their website and look at the designers and then go to the designers page, it really helps narrow what you like down as it is overwhelming when you get there. Also one side is more straight and mermaid dresses and the other side is more a line fitted dresses if you have a more pear shape like I do so I knew where to look. Overall was an unreal perfect experience for me as a first time bride and I recommend this place to other curvy women, you won't be disappointed. read more

So so so glad I went here, especially after a terrible shopping experience just hours prior to my appointment. This salon excelled in a few ways, which I will list below 1) The obvious - the sizes - variety of sample sizes available, starting at 16. 2) The store is beautiful - neat, clean, it has two "show rooms" and dressing areas. We had half of the store to ourselves - no sharing mirrors, no having to reveal the dress in front of all shoppers. 3) The selection - great selection of designers. I would say they had a lot of ballgowns, more than any other shape but still stocked some sheaths and mermaids. 4) The service - Maria was great, took her time, was very patient and RECEPTIVE to requests. If we found that more beading worked, she hand-picked more beading, etc. Overall, the experience was fabulous, making this store a must-visit, especially if you are "curvy." I ended up getting my dress elsewhere but I would certainly recommend this shop. read more

I found this shop through Google and was very anxious about going because as a plus size person shopping is something that is daunting for me especially since this is THE most important purchase ever. As soon as I walked into the shop my mother and I were greeted with huge smiles and we were treated well from the start. My consultant MaryAnn did anything and everything to make sure I was comfortable and let me try on everything I wanted. I've always had trouble purchasing clothes because I'm 5'10" and have fluctuated between a 12-18. I chose two look at the Curvy Bride and another bridal salon. EXPERIENCE AT ANOTHER SALON: I visited the other store first, but they only had 3 dresses in the style I liked that also came in my size. Ripping a sample size dress while trying to put it on is never a good feeling which I learned very quickly with my first experience.. I thought I found what I was looking for but kept my appointment at the Curvy Bride just in case and I am SO glad that I did! THE CURVY BRIDE: I came to the store with my mom, two sisters and grandmother. Paige was my consultant and she was super easy to work with. We started with three dresses because I was slightly overwhelmed and extremely indecisive. When I finally narrowed it down to two dresses, Paige had me try on the first one again which ended up being my dress. I absolutely love it! The appointment was private, there was only one other bride in the store at the same time and we were in two completely separate rooms so I never saw her. Michelle was also super sweet and I am so glad she opened this store. I can't stop raving about how great the Curvy Bride is. I even called a few days later about changing the color of my dress and Paige was able to to do it for me. Paige was absolutely amazing. I must say my road to The Curvy Bride started as I was on the phone making an appointment at another salon. While i read their reviews as I spoke with them I asked them about their typical sample size. That's where the panic set in. I didn't want my experience to become about me feeling bad about my body because I could only hold up a wedding dress to myself and imagine what it would be like. So I did a bit more searching and came across The Curvy Bride. The Curvy Bride Salon is about making you feel comfortable from the moment you walked through the door. We were never rushed, Paige helped to pick out very flattering options and after 5 dresses...I said YES!!! The dress is so beautiful and the prices are so amazing.
