This is hands-down my favorite neighborhood spot. I've been here every weekend since I found it. The breakfast is such a handmade specialty menu. The fresh baked goods are absolutely to die for. This is a really cute little bakery in Desert Shores. We went for Sunday brunch on a brisk fall afternoon. Unfortunately, there is only patio seating and although there are heaters, it was still pretty cold. Bring a jacket! They were also sold out of quite a few items, which was disappointing. The lady who took our order was cheery and helpful, and after discovering they were sold out of the item we ordered (the third item they sold out of), they treated us to some very tasty, flaky croissants (albeit the plain croissant was perhaps a bit overbaked). My Dutch Baby came out hot and was delicious. My partner ordered chicken and waffles which was good, but light on the syrup. When we asked for more, we were offered "spicy syrup" which made the chicken & waffles amazing! It should probably be offered as an option when you order. Returned to try their sandwiches and ordered the turkey sandwich and breakfast sandwich. Both were large portions and tasty. The turkey sandwich was enough for take home. Just loved the runny egg on the breakfast sandwich. We also took home 2 cinnamon rolls which are only available on weekends. The roll comes with a side container of whipped crème. They were huge and fantastic with coffee the next day. Each one is plenty for 2 people. read more

A friend was on this side of town and so we decided to meet up at The Daily Bread. Neither of us had been before and so finding it was quite the adventure. It's nestled in this tiny shopping center amidst some housing complex underneath the spa. It's a blink and you'll miss it kind of place but it's kind of like finding the Secret Garden. It was around 12:45PM and we knew they closed at 2PM so we hoped to miss the mad rush but was still surprised they had a few fresh baked goodies left. You walk inside the tiny prep space where you can see all of the pastries they have (definitely caught my eye). I knew what I wanted from behind the glass before I knew what I wanted to eat! I grabbed a red velvet cookie, a croissant cinnamon bun, and the last chocolate croissant (it was screaming my name). My friend went with the Dutch Baby and I ordered the chicken and waffles. We opted for complimentary water where they have a little water cooler to fill up styrofoam cups. We found a spot outside and then they brought our food to us when it was ready, which wasn't too long of a wait. The Dutch Baby was a good size, thick, and covered in berries and cream. The chicken and waffles was also of good size. The chicken had a nice kick to it and the pickled onions were a nice balance to the savory/sweet combination. We ended up hanging out until almost 3 pm since it was an open patio even though they closed their doors shortly after 2pm. When I got home, I enjoyed the pastries. The red velvet was a little firmer than I normally like my cookies to be but it had this subtle almond flavor to it that I really liked. The chocolate croissant was soft and the chocolate on top was even better after it had melted slightly in the warm sun, and the croissant cinnamon bun was like a churro, so tasty. This place is authentic and their SD bread is so delicious. I am a SD baker and always look for a place that makes their bread from scratch. The only drawback is that there is only outdoor seating. It's ok unless it's windy and cold. We were there 2 times, the 1st was Memorial Day weekend and they had the misters on the overhead fans which would be nice but it was so early and still cold out. The service was a bit slow and the toast arrived cold however they apologized and brought out warm toast replacement. They were short staffed for the long weekend. We loved their menu and went back this Saturday- it was so delicious and they had given us a 50% off the previous time due to the toast being cold the last time. It's so good that this place apologized and made it good but also went a step further and gave us the discount to return. These days not a lot of places own up to their mistakes and shrug it off but this place did and we appreciate it so much as nobody is perfect. We will continue to support this place every time we are in town from Cali! read more

It's right off the water so the air is light, it's cold outside they have heaters, if it's warm they have fans and enormous awnings for generous shade. This bakery/brunch/cafe is a local staple that most people who eat her wish to keep a secret, but shouldn't cause sharing is caring. Some amazing pastry items, but the owner has a lady bake them and bring them in, and that's where the problem is. Was coming here a couple times a week to get some really good pastries. Overpriced at $6 plus tax, but really good so hey what the heck right. Well a couple weeks in a row I'm charged $5 for the Apple Croissant. I met the lady that brings them in and that's how I know he doesn't, so he might not know all the prices, right? The following week a new cashier tells me $6. I look directly at the owner and say "why am I being charged $6 for this when the last couple weeks I've been paying $5"? Owners response a "shrug" and an "I don't know". What?!?!?!? You mean you don't know because someone else is baking those items and bringing them in and you really, truly, don't even know your prices. You coulda been honest and just said "you know someone else brings those in and I'll have to get confirmation on the price" and kept a customer and not got a bad review. You didn't know I knew that. That's why you always gotta be honest. You can't take credit for something you didn't do. Otherwise you would have had an answer on the discrepancy of prices. Something totally unrelated is your ordering process. If I come for one or two pastries I have to wait for a family of four to give a compete LUNCH order that takes FOREVER!!!!! Why can't there be a separate register for quick transactions of bakery items? You have to have them in on one register when you really should have a server taking those orders to free up transactions for bakery items. You still prompt people for a tip though eh? Always wanting to do less for more. Nope you don't and just stand there looking at your other customers waiting in line when some Vegas A****** is all about himself and takes 10-15 mins to spit out his/her order for him and three others. We tried this place for the first time and it was very yummy. So I told my wife and daughter that we were going to eat breakfast Sunday morning before church but I didn't really have a plan. I just knew I didn't really want to go to any of the same places we've gone before. I just wanted something a little different. So, I resorted to Yelp and as soon as I opened it I saw a review about the daily bread and it was pretty close to where we live. It's a nice area nestled in the desert shores community. The first thing you notice is that it's not a typical restaurant, it looks more like a sidewalk cafe you would find somewhere on vacation. It's a bakery/coffee shop/restaurant. It's a cute little place you would want to hang out at. When i walked in the door the first thing I noticed was the sourdough bread on a shelf and then the display case of all the sweet treats. We started with a cinnamon roll and a macha crumpet. My daughter had the Dutch baby and I had the Hash. I really enjoyed the flavor of the corn beef brisket with the poached eggs and potatoes. My meal was very satisfying. My daughter loved her Dutch baby dish and raved about it. When you get there and if there is no wait, you just grab a table. They bring you a menu and you walk in to give them your order. They will then give you a number to put on your table and a server will bring your food out for you. The price is close to 3 dollar signs if you know what I mean. The food we ordered on the attached pictures and two coffees was about $70. I would for sure go back to this place and I would recommend that you try it at least once. read more

I happened to be eating next door and stumbled upon this when my daughter needed to use the restroom. I had no idea this place existed and I'm so glad I found it! The cashier was very helpful in answering questions. They make the baked goods right there in an open kitchen! They had samples of the pumpkin bread and I immediately bought a roll esp since they cut the loaf of bread for you. I love the flavor of the bread, you can tell it's not the disgusting overly processed junk you get at stores. This morning we tried a strawberry croissant with whipped cream , Yummy and delicious. We also tried the apple turnover and wiener croissant and it did not disappoint .
