Service: When I arrived I didn't know where to check in at. I walked inside and waited for two minutes before someone noticed me and told me to find a seat. My wife and I sat down and weren't greeted for another 10 minutes. Waitress dropped of menus and walked away. She came out 8 minutes later to order food for a table of about 8. That took 10 more minutes and we didn't see her for a while after that. Ultimately we got up and left due to the extremely slow service. Happy Valentine's Day!! This spot is such a perfect place to come for brunch with my girls on Valentine's Day. The first time my husband and I came here, we absolutely loved everything about this restaurant, and it definitely did not disappoint coming back. The patio seating is beautiful, it feels intimate and cozy, but still open and inviting. Just a great atmosphere overall. My little one ordered the pancakes, and they were topped with bananas and strawberries. They were super fluffy with a slight crisp on top, and the syrup was light and not overpowering. Honestly, the whole dish just felt comforting, like homemade pancakes straight from my own kitchen. The carne asada fries were delicious. The fries were crispy with a flaky outer texture, and the carne asada was chopped into perfect little bite sized pieces sprinkled evenly over the top. Paired with fresh, flavorful guacamole, it all came together really well. We also tried the quesabirria tacos (special). The flavor was good, but there wasn't much meat inside, and they only give a small 2oz container of consommé. I definitely wish they were a little more generous with both. Overall though, the food was good, the service was great, and we left happy. On our way out, we grabbed a caramel frappé latte, and that was delicious too! This hidden little spot is located in the Lakeside Village within the Desert Shores neighborhood. Small and intimate setting with tables outside only. I met up with my good friend and fellow Yelper from Reno, Nevada. We had the place to ourselves initially but it did get busier. The weather was perfect so sitting outside was perfect. They serve breakfast, lunch and also cater. I decided on the Huevos Rancheros with rice and beans. I also ordered the Sun on the Lake which was mango, pineapple, orange juice and coconut water. A very refreshing drink to start the day with. My Huevos were tasty and filling. Their salsa's are so delicious too plus homemade. After a morning appointment, I stopped here for breakfast. Most of the seating is outside on the patio. They have fans and heaters to use depending on the season. It was 70º when I was there and the patio was a delight. It is all covered so there won't be sun shining in your face any time during the day. The patio is a very relaxing place. I was soon brought a menu. I ordered the Mexico City burrito and black coffee. With that section of the menu, you can get your breakfast as either a burrito or a crepe. In a short time, the burrito was brought, The dish and the burrito were very hot. The Mexico City is filled with chorizo, scrambled eggs, jalapeños, guacamole, and cotija cheese. This makes for a very hearty breakfast. The weight of the burrito with that good filling makes it a large, shareable breakfast. The coffee is served inn a colorful cup and the coffee was great! I didn't know this was here until I happened to be in the plaza a few months ago. It gives me a reason to go to Desert Shores. read more

What a great find for brunch after our son's soccer class! The homemade salsas were amazing, especially the Arbol (red) which was spicy & flavorful! I had the Mexico City burrito that had eggs, chorizo, pico de gallo, cheese, and avocado. One of the freshest & best burritos I have ever had. My son had his own breakfast plate with potatoes, scrambled eggs, and bacon. The breakfast potatoes were perfectly seasoned & cooked. We needed a central-ish location for brunch on a Sunday morning, so we Yelped! to find this new spot nestled in Desert Shores right on the lake! There's a lot of parking on the weekend, because the offices are closed, so we had no issues with that at all. We did make a reservation, just in case, and we were seated right away upon arriving. All the seating is outdoors, and in Vegas in August, that's rough. The menu is pretty standard for brunch, lots of breakfast and lunch options. We did breakfast burritos, chilaquiles, and taquitos, but we also tried a smoothie! Prices are pretty average for the area, so no sticker shock, and the food was decent. I am not much of a Mexican food fan but after my first "take out" from this place, I became hooked! This is a lovely little garden restaurant with easy parking. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla with no spice and it was the best one I have ever had in all of my 76 years! The portion was so large, I took home half and had it for lunch the following day. The tortilla was freshly made and the shrimp was fresh and seasoned perfectly. I ordered a large fresh squeezed orange juice and watched them squeeze my drink in their open kitchen. The staff is friendly and professional. You must try this place because after you experience Buena Vista Kitchen, every other Mexican eatery will be second rate. We ordered a large choriqueso, and it was amazing--way better (and cheaper) than the one we had on the Strip the day before. The shrimp tacos were also incredible. And it's on the side so you can personalize your dipping. I did notice that the price on the board was $1 less than I was charged, and I had asked if they charge for to go orders (they do not). The keto shrimp bowl was amazing! It was so fresh and the shrimp were pretty large. It has guac and salsa, which are such a great match with the shrimp. Like not dirty, but my friend thought they were infusing the water with something. I didn't really like it. My friend ordered the carnitas plate and it was okay but it tasted flat. She asked for limes and hot sauce to bring some flavor to it, also added a decent amount of salt too. I ordered two tacos, their fish taco and their Baja shrimp taco. The fish was such a small serving that I barely got any and it didn't taste that great. The shrimp one was fine, but also nothing to write home about. My friend and I split their equivalent of queso fundito which I appreciated that they have various sizes. We got the small. It has grilled poblano peppers in it. Their chips and salsa were good. I think my favorite thing were their chips and salsa. If you like your food on the not spicy kind of bland side, you would probably like this place. Their prices are very fair (3 Diet Coke cans, 2 tacos, the carnitas plate, and the queso cost less than $35) so I would consider going back, maybe to take my grandparents. It's cute outside and it's by the Desert Shore lakes so you can walk afterwards if you'd like. I will say though, someone ordered a torta and it was GIANT. Might try that next time. Def willing to give them another shot later down the line but it won't be a huge priority. read more

I've been coming here for a few months and the food is always amazing and staff is always nice. However, the service I received today was unacceptable. I always dine in, however today I ordered pick-up through Yelp. When I arrived 10 minutes later, the cashier said it would be a few more minutes. That was fine I stepped to the side and Manny (who has always been kind before) asks me did I order through Grubhub. I said I ordered through yelp. He proceeds to tell me that the ticket had "just printed" and added, "we are not a fast food restaurant," before walking away and discussing it with his workers in the kitchen. I believe he assumed I was a delivery driver which in fact I was not a delivery driver; I was a paying customer waiting patiently. We love our breakfasts and looking for new little spots to try and take family when they are in town. We yelped for breakfast after my daughter's Saturday morning soccer game and saw that Buena Vista Kitchen was close by and had great reviews so we gave it a shot. BVK is located in Desert Shores in the Lakeside Village Plaza. It's a bit hard to find and does not have much for signs so you really have to look for it. It has a very small patio on the first floor just off the parking lot hidden behind some greenery and decor. The patio area is the only dining area and while decorated nicely it has an awkward feel and is quite cramped. There's also quite a bit of traffic and noise since it is right off the parking lot and in the middle of the plaza walkway, so lots of pedestrian traffic through the dining area as well. We arrived around 10:30 and were seated at a very small table up against the outside wall of the restaurant, it looked like the only one available but was a very tight fit for me, my wife and our daughter. We started with two coffees and an OJ while we looked at the menu over. The menu is not very large or extensive, but does have a few good options, depending on what you are looking for. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros, my wife ordered the Chilaquiles and we got our daughter the French Toast with a scrambled egg, hash browns and side of bacon. Our breakfast came out to about $56 for the three of us, a bit pricey in my opinion. Overall the food was good, nothing great but not bad either. To be fair, my wife's family is from Mexico so our standards are a bit high when it comes to Mexican food. I could have used a little more flavor and spice from our dishes here, they were a little bland. My daughter on the other hand loved her French Toast and pretty much devoured it, so that is a plus! The staff was friendly and the service was good so no complaints there. Once you are done, you will not get a check so just walk inside to the counter and pay there when you are ready. We are always happy to try out small local places and are glad we tried BVK, so go ahead and give it a shot for yourself and see what you think! read more
