But some things are worth the drive and that's certainly the case for Du-par's and their massive, delicious pancakes. Service was a bit rough but it looked like our server had been put through the ringer so I won't try to hold that against him too much. In addition to the wonderful pancakes was the amazing cinnamon roll. We split it between the three of us but I would have wolfed it down all by myself given the chance! The pancakes were everything. And by everything I mean they were literally three meals for me. Three! And I love pancakes! My rating isn't about the pancakes. Pancakes are great. This was the first time back since the remodel. We won't be returning. The remodel ruined this location. They enclosed the restaurant but didn't seem to consider the sound dampening. It is so noisy the server had to keep repeating themselves and we could barely hear each other. Three of us ordered breakfast items, The Big Kahuna Plate, the Sunrise Breakfast and the Eggs Benedict. They were all cold. Lucky for me I ordered the Traditional Open Face Tri-Tip Sandwich which was hot and really good. Of course we shared a short stack which were great. Even if the food was great the noise level was Intolerable. There are plenty of options for sound dampening. If they choose to deploy some then we would give it another try. read more

It had been a while since I last went to Du-par's! The last time was when the restaurant was still on Fremont Street, so stopping by the location inside Suncoast was amazing! This location is really easy to get to, which I appreciated! Since it's inside Suncoast, there's plenty of free parking, and you don't have to go to the parking at Downtown which was where the restaurant was originally located. It made the whole visit feel super easy! My family and I ended up stopping by as soon as the restaurant opened up! I decided to go with ordering the pancakes and the fried steak. The pancakes were easily the highlight for me. They were amazing, soft, and super flavorful! I can see why this is one of the go to spots in Las Vegas for pancakes! The fried steak was good too, but for me, the pancakes were the thing I'd come back for! I'm glad I ordered them because they definitely stole the show. The service was great as well! The team member assisting our table was friendly and followed up with us several times, refilling our drinks and asking if the food was good! I'm glad I finally made it back to Du-par's after all these years! Du-par's is a true Los Angeles institution. Originally opened in 1938 at the historic Farmers Market in Los Angeles, it became famous for its classic diner fare, especially its pies, pancakes, and old-school coffee shop atmosphere. While there are only a handful of locations remaining today, I'm glad one of them is located inside the Suncoast Casino. For the quality of food and reasonable prices, it's an excellent value. On this visit, I ordered the Tri-Tip Sandwich from the "Hot & Hearty" section of the menu. It featured tender sliced tri-tip served on brioche bread and came with mashed potatoes and brown gravy. It was pretty darn good--comfort food at its finest. We also ordered the Cobb Salad, which was excellent. It was loaded with chicken and bacon, had generous chunks of blue cheese, and included a decent amount of avocado. While I wouldn't have complained about a little more avocado, the salad was fresh, crisp, and crunchy with every bite. To drink, we ordered one cocktail and an iced tea. Before leaving, we couldn't resist taking home an entire Banana Cream Pie, one of the items Du-par's has been known for over the years. Our server, Ruby, was outstanding. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was taken care of throughout our meal. Including the cocktail, iced tea, whole banana cream pie, meal, tax, and tip, our total came to $78.88. Considering the quality of the food, generous portions, and excellent service, I felt it was money well spent. Did Esquire Magazine exaggerate by naming Du-par's pancakes as THE best in America? A couple of friends and I went to Sun Coast Casino to find out and they raved about the stack...as did I, since they couldn't finish theirs. Definitely a notch above most flapjacks, with its pillow-like softness and rich taste along with thick maple syrup. The 'hash and eggs' entree also sounded great, but it was too early to do breakfast in a pipe so I went with a 'build your own fluffy omelet' instead. Very filling with three eggs, bacon, and Swiss to go along with potatoes and English muffin. I also tried their French dip sandwich another day after some gambling and their version is top quality...thinly shaved slices of tri-tip roast on a warm ciabatta bread and a generous container of au jus to dip in. Be sure to ask for some cheese to slap on the sandwich. I'd like to share an irrefutable, time-tested proven fact here: if you're grabbing a bite to eat before hitting the Angel Park Golf Course across the street, a meal at Du-par's will guarantee you some Du-birdies. They've been in business since 1938 when the Fair Labor Act was passed, which awarded pancake flippers a wage of 25 cents/hour. Almost 90 years later, Du-pars is still at it and their other location was recently voted the best diner in all of California. I have a confession to make. I am an addict. I have been one for years but I have absolutely no desire to recover. This may seem shocking and even reckless but I can't stop...coming to Du Par's to have PANCAKES. These are not just ordinary pancakes my friend. More like manna dropped from heaven by the hand of God in a pancake wasteland of middling carbohydrates found in many breakfast chains and coffee shops. Their buttery, fluffy goodness cannot be denied. I had a bit of difficulty navigating the maze of remodeling going on at the Suncoast to locate Du Par's but it's in the same location. The path just looks different. It was late afternoon when I went in but breakfast for dinner is always a possibility at Du Par's. I saw you could add 1 pancake (which is more than enough unless you're starving and have a huge appetite) for $3.99 with the Sunrise combo . I asked if this was an option with the other breakfast items but was informed the cost would be $7.99. No bueno! As much as I wanted corned beef hash, I wasn't going to overpay and a short stack was overkill that meal so I settled for the Sunrise. It comes with eggs, hash browns, toast, and choice of bacon or pork/turkey sausage. Obviously I'd have to finish the pancake fresh so I knew I'd be taking leftovers back to the hotel. The pancake took a while because so many people were ordering them but it was worth the wait. My craving was satisfied along with my coffee until the next trip to Vegas. The rest of the breakfast was typical but good enough to make me happy. Service was acceptable but it's a bit disappointing when you have to flag down someone to bring you the water you requested when seated. When I approached the cashier to pay, I was stunned and seduced by what I saw. No, not the cashier, although she was cute. The register is located by the bakery goods and I heard a call that was a mermaid calling sailors to their doom. Boysenberry pie. I've missed the boysenberry festival at Knott's for a few years so I fell victim to its call. Sitting next to it was her sister the cappuccino cheesecake. I couldn't separate them in good conscience and I still had a few days in Vegas so I brought them home with me. My wife may be upset when I get home but there are things that are inevitable and need to be accepted. That's just how life is. I stopped by Du-pars on Saturday night around 9pm looking for a late-night bite after watching a movie. We were in the mood for a sandwich and ended up ordering a patty melt and a French dip, both with fries. The sandwiches came out hot and fresh, and we also ordered some micheladas which were surprisingly very good. Everything tasted great. Our waitress was friendly and quick to take our order, although the food did take about 15-20 minutes to come out even though it wasn't very busy. The restaurant itself is beautiful with a modern diner vibe, plus classic photos on the walls showing what it looked like back in the day. Just a heads up, there's construction going on at Suncoast right now, so the restaurant is a little hidden, but it can be found right next to Taste of Asia. I have never felt so unwelcome walking into a restaurant. I believe the host's name was Shantel. She had a short bob haircut that reminded me of the neighbor from Married... with Children. Unfortunately, her attitude was nothing to smile about... l was one of the rudest hosts I've ever encountered. She never greeted us, never smiled, never said "hello," and never even told us to follow her. She just turned around and started walking without saying a word. We were left wondering, "Are we supposed to follow you?" That's not how you treat paying customers. The attitude only got worse. She repeatedly asked if I had ordered a hot cocoa after I had already told her multiple times that I didn't. It was like she wasn't listening at all. Instead of making us feel welcome, she made us feel like we were an inconvenience. The food itself was decent. The pancakes are still good, although they don't taste as good as they used to. The country fried steak was disappointing because the beef was tough. The biggest problem wasn't the food it was the service at the front door. The host is the first impression of the restaurant, and this first impression was terrible. Management should seriously coach their front-of-house staff on basic hospitality. A simple "Hi, welcome in," "Please follow me," and "Thank you" goes a long way. Until that changes, I can't recommend this place based on the service alone. To be fair, the two servers were amazing. The Female Asian waitress and the older gentleman were both very kind, attentive, and helpful. They were the only reason the experience was not completely ruined. I came here with my parents for a late lunch. We were seated pretty quickly as there was no crowd. The pastry display caught my eye when we first walked in - cinnamon rolls and danishes were huge, the pies and cheesecakes looked really yummy. Our waitress took our drink orders and gave us a few minutes to decide on what we wanted to eat. She came back with our drinks and took our order. Service was a bit slow despite it being early in the morning and not many customers. It was very bright and clean inside. They renovated and it looks much better compared to what it looked like before. We got their Vegas Stack, French Toast and a side of Portuguese Sausage. I wouldn't order the Portuguese Sausage again. It was spicy and cut weird. The Vegas Stack was amazing! It's three of their legendary Buttermilk Hotcakes and when they're soaked in butter and syrup, OMG! Delicious! Make sure to pour the melted butter and syrup to get the best flavor. The turkey sausage was great! The hash-browns and eggs lacked salt but an easy fix, just add some salt to your taste. The toast along with the jam was perfect! The jam must have been homemade, it was really good. The food this time was very satisfying. I believe this is a great place for a traditional breakfast for sure. The service was excellent!! Maria was our server. She was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of. Whatever you do, do not order the BLT. My mom ordered it for me and when I bit it, the bacon tasted like a rock of salt. It was so salty. I didn't eat all day and I took 4 bites but I couldn't continue any longer. I thought I just had to eat because I didn't have anything for the whole day but after the 4th bite, I just had to stop. The amount is salt in the bacon would give you high blood pressure instantly. Also they didn't even put tomatoes, a key ingredient for a BLT. It was just a BL and no T. The worst part was the most innocent, the lettuce. Lately explosive diarrhea is going around reported on the news most likely stemming from lettuce, as reported on the news. There was only a thin sliver of lettuce on the BLT but I was met by explosive diarrhea soon after consuming it. I hadn't eaten anything all day and after that BLT, yet my explosive diarrhea bacteria contamination (cyclospora cayetanensis) continued for the next day. I hadn't eaten anything, yet had 4 attacks from the time I woke up until that afternoon. Mind you, I hadn't had anything to eat yet all day. I'm never eating there again. This one experience left a lasting and painful impression on me about this place just with one BLT. Whatever you do, never order a BLT from here. You will just waste money, have a painful experience getting sick and probably get high blood pressure as a result from this sandwich. read more

Ok, we stayed at the hotel and looked up the restaurants inside and Du-pars came up time and time again for the best pancakes in the U.S. by Esquire Magazine. We had to try it... we were intrigued. They are open 24 hours and the staff were pleasant and engaged in conversation. We ordered a single pancake (they are the size of a large dinner plate), fresh squeezed OJ and an Arnold Palmer. The pancake: phenomenal! Wow, it was light, airy and moist. It was crispy and tender. They serve it hot, with hot melted butter, and hot syrup. The pancake arrives with melted butter on top, and it is big enough to feed 4 easily. We had a 9am flight the next morning and wondered if we should circle back, it was THAT good. If you wonder if it's worth the drive off the strip, the answer is yes!! read more

In fact, they are pretty much annoyed you're there. Expect to wait - a lot. More waiting than you'd think. Wait in the artificial line outside the restaurant even though there are enough empty tables to seat everyone. There is one hostess on Saturday morning. She blames co-workers who are out sick and others who are on break. There's no back ups? Seems odd, but fine. Wait again at the table for an overly taxed, but slow moving wait person who is also kind of rushing you. Then enjoy your wonderful, best ever pancakes but wait again for drink refills, feel hesitant to ask for anything due to lack of servers around and potential for more waiting, wait for the check, and wait again to pay the solo-hostess that blamed the delay on people on break who still aren't back after an hour or more. We love the pancakes and will go back - but we'll also hope for a better experience next time. The remodel was meh. They freshened it up, but nothing WOW about it, really. If you gotta top your pancakes with lots of toppings, you have a mediocre pancake below as far as I'm concerned. Bomb Buttermilk pancake recipe since 1938, cooked in butter, more butter ladles on top served with warm maple syrup? That is all you need! Service is always great, and I love the old school diner vibe. The best glass of fresh squeezed VALENCIA orange juice goes great with your pancakes too. Pretty pricey at $6.99 a glass, but worth the splurge. Every other breakfast spot serves you pasteurized NAVEL orange juice out of a jug or carton. read more

Oh how you've fallen..... The service here keeps getting worse and worse. It's never been stellar, but we've put up with it all these years because their food is worth it. We've been in there plenty of times where the servers are doing.... Who knows what, but they aren't serving food. Tonight, husband wanted pancakes so off he went. We had a nice and attentive waiter and I ordered the half buttermilk pancakes and spam, cooked well, and he ordered bacon and toast with a yuge chocolate donut, which is like three donuts in one! Since Du-par's is inside the Suncoast Hotel and Casino, it was easy to self-park for free and then walk through the casino floor to Du-par's. I agree with a good chunk of the Yelp reviews here about the food (e.g. the pancakes) being great but the service being slow as heck. There was a short queue at the register when we arrived, and the lady at the register took a very long time seating each party in line. More than half of the tables were empty, and some had dirty dishes still on them, which the front register lady would clean and clear at her whim apparently. The place seemed understaffed of waiters and waitresses. When we eventually got seated, we had a bit of a wait for someone to take our order. Our waitress was extremely nice, but in general I felt she only appeared to take an order/deliver food, and then was never seen around again. They encourage you to pay your bill at the front register, or you can have your server ring you up, but I think paying your bill at the front is way quicker since it's really hard to flag down your server after you get your food. That being said, sometimes the front register is completely unmanned so you might still have a wait there. That being said, I thought the pancakes were indeed delicious -- super buttery and fluffy. Also they are huge. I honestly could only eat a little over 1 even though I ordered the Vegas stack of 3. Even the waitress made sure I knew what I was doing before I ordered. However, I don't think the food left a strong enough impression to warrant me coming back in the future. Glad I tried it at least once! read more
