They're liars and thieves. The salesman's Christopher came out to our home and assessed our Maple tree. He went on to tell us he'd recommend us cutting the whole tree down because it's dead and it's a safety hazard for my dog, kid and could potentially fall on the house.. So, the options we had were to cut the whole tree or trim and prune. I chose to prune and trim to start with then eventually we'd go ahead and cut the rest with the stump. The day the laborers came out they ended up cutting down 4 branches, saying to me they're only following the contract and the tree is in good shape. I could go on but i'm trying to make it short. I was left feeling taken advantage of and with a $1200 bill. I guess because i'm a nurse and I am expected to be honest, respectful, kind and trustworthy. I would like to think other professionals would be the same. I was wrong. read more

This company will rip you off. Signed an 1800 contract for a treatment plan. Only for them to claim that the cost was PER TREATMENT... Meaning to have our trees treated would have been upwards of 3000. Mind you, we had 4 moderately-sized crape myrtles and a handful of saplings. There are far more transparent companies with much better customer service. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

They recently did two jobs for us. First they did some lawn work. For that job, they lost our deposit, leading to delays, requiring me to send a second check, etc. They then damaged our lawn significantly. When I complained, they came and fixed the damage. I guess that's why I hired them again. However, when I hired them to do tree removal, they again lost my deposit! When they removed the trees, they damaged an adjacent tree which then had to be removed (even though it was a healthy tree before the damage). In addition, they forgot to remove one of the trees designated for removal and so they had to come back a few weeks later to finish the job. As you can tell, the professionalism and quality merit one star. I will definitely not hire them again. read more

I hired davey to diagnose and address a stressed dogwood. I paid over $800 and now my dogwood looks worse than before. I was told the tree was mostly fine, but they clearly only know how to cash my checks, and not help my trees. read more

The Baltimore, MD office of The Davey Tree Company has terrible communication. I had an initial consultation to discuss tree trimming, fertilization and pest remediation. I hired them based off of what they said. When they arrived, it was a different story. I was told that they would use a laser pointer to show me in advance any limbs or branches that they would cut by Chris Rosier, their arborist. They also did not mention that any cars would need to be moved for them to do their work. The team arrived and said that they might not be able to do the job because the cars had not been moved. I got several cars moved at the last minute for them. Then I heard the saw working without being told anything in advance. I was given a letter of apology for how the job happened so I gave them a second chance to fertilize my tree. I scheduled it with the office and said I needed my tree fertilized. This morning, I get these emails saying that it will only be a consultation and all these excuses from Carla Goodman and Aaron Garver. Aaron said he had my signed paperwork agreeing to the fertilization in his car. I said it is time for them to educate everyone in their company how they need to operate, but based on my two interactions with them, I could no longer trust their company. read more
