I could go on for DAYS about how awesome the Spoon is. I love this place from the bottom of my heart (and belly too!). It is ran by a wonderful husband and wife who really care about their customers beyond making sure their food tastes good.... My favorite here is the Gaffer's Grub breakfast. Meat, potatoes, 2 eggs, and toast. If you're starving it is sure to fill you up, however there have been times I have taken a box home. They have a great muffin toast. The pancakes are out of this world too!!! I always have to have one when I go. They are everything a pancake should be! Finally, the coffee (which is also fantastic) is in a pot left on the table. I love being able to fill my cup as I'd like! Seating is first come, first serve. They have some booths but what I really like are the kitchen tables you would find in grandma's house. I always try new places when out in the field for work. This was in the area and seemed good. I got the Grifters Grub (I believe) and it was good. Hasbrowns were golden and toast slightly burnt. Good food for good price. Small cafe, so be warned about seating. Service was good, nice lady. It's got a laid-back attitude. Don't expect a rush. read more

Was looking for a good local breakfast place and this place did not disappoint! Went on a cold rainy morning but it was warm and cozy inside. We seated ourselves in a booth and our server came over right away. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered omelets and split the berry pancakes. The food was very good. Those pancakes were unbelievably amazing! You have to try them. Coffee was great. Even the water was delicious! Prices were not bad at all. Service exceptional. Highly recommend! I found myself with a couple extra hours in the morning in Jackson, so I decided to have breakfast at The wooden spoon. The breakfast was tasty. I had a specialty try Berry pancake which was a single pancake with lots of berries in it. The waitress gave me an extra syrup for the end of the breakfast which get the spot. I also ordered a side order of bacon and a side order of sausage. Maybe I should have passed on these. Although the bacon was crispy and the sausage was cooked just right. I thought that charging about $5 for three pieces of bacon and $5 two sausage Patty's was a little outrageous. It was a nice breakfast and the service was good, it took half an hour before it was served, and I probably wouldn't order bacon and sausage next time. read more

Wooden spoon is a quaint country diner with great food and attentive staff. The omelet ingredients taste very fresh, and the hash browns are perfect. Men's room is clean but lacks a mirror. The Wooden Spoon is an amazing breakfast joint!! The owners are fabulous humans. It is well loved by locals. The omelets are always so light and fluffy, even after being told "the secret" I can't replicate it at home. Getting onion in the hash browns definitely elevates them. Only thing that was good to me was the toast and my partners berry pancake. It's your basic hometown cafe food. Nothing special or worth 4.5 stars. Been coming to the Wooden Spoon for roughly 40 years. Loved the Mickey Mouse pancake as a child, and the omelettes now. Always loved the river out back. I remember as a child saving half of my breakfast to feed to the fish in the river. The last time we were here my husband Saved his toast for me to feed to the fish. He's the best. read more

I've been going to the Wooden Spoon on and off for years and both love it and have found it to be universally loved. The food is great, although fairly standard American breakfast food, and affordable, the service friendly, and the atmosphere very comfortable and warm. Unfortunately the Wooden Spoon's only open through lunchtime and only one can only pay by cash or check, but it remains a great place to eat at and an even greater place to hear all the township gossip if the township supervisor and local police happen to be having breakfast when you are ;-). read more
