This place is more of a night time dive-bar and that's what it's aimed at so my review is not for that. We visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon and enjoyed a low-key drink experience while watching some sports on TV. This isn't a sports bar but we found it a great place for our purposes and we really enjoyed the divey aesthetic on a warm early-Spring Sunday. I'm not a fan of crowded bars so I won't be coming back to see the music most likely, but they appear to have a nice setup for plenty of people to enjoy a show and get drinks at either of the bars without too much fuss. read more

It is a "club" so you will need to buy a membership for $5 but it's good for a year. It is a true dive bar with random decorations, average bathrooms and your classic beer and liquor selection. Stick with a beer or standard cocktail like a vodka soda or gin and tonic. They recently remodeled their bathrooms and those are fully functioning now so disregard the ports potty reviews as those are gone. The deck has turned into a gross bar. The bartenders are so rude it's honestly insufferable. They yell at everyone and curse out anyone who doesn't show them praise. DECARLO BAND COMING MAY 7 I've seen DECARLO (Boston's lead Singer) before in W-S, and this band is absolutely FANTASTIC! Close your eyes, and you'll swear you are listing to BOSTON's greatest hits! However, charging $20, $30, and $50 to see DECARLO at THE DECK on May 7th is beyond EXCESSIVE! It is shameful and greedy! Major venues command these steep prices for CONCERT TOURS. THE DECK is just a neighborhood bar, not the Greensboro Coliseum. I won't be attending because of the admission price. I think others will skip THE DECK on May 7. Only time will tell. I never heard of this spot and a friend of mine introduced it to me. I found the layout a bit odd, but somehow it worked. There is a bar inside, and outdoors on the deck is some seating, and another bar. They have a live DJ, that mini golf lawn layout big enough to make a dance floor and plenty of seating bordering it. The security was friendly, yet attentive to the surrounding. Nothing bad was going on, but I liked that they were clearly doing their job. Our bartenders were great. We used to go here when it was Open Mic night and my son's band would play but stopped after that. Last night was a Retro Dance party and the place was LIT! All new renovations, lights, they didn't skimp on the alcohol in the drinks, clean bathrooms, etc. and we had a fabulous time! We moved here from Charlotte a few years ago and have been " timid" about getting to know Jamestown and getting involved but last night we had a blast!!!! If you like watered down overpriced drinks, disgusting porta potties and rude bartenders come here!! The music they hire is barely tolerable even when blackout drunk. Do yourself a favor and go ANYWHERE else, after hours, kickback jacks even APPLEBEES is better than here. Tried to go here tonight. The place is jammed packed, mostly with 20 somethings. Tried to get to the bar to get a membership wristband and waited 10+ minutes for a bartender before giving up. It was like sardines in there. Our group made our way out and while trying to figure out where to go a bouncer kicked us out pretty quickly. I guess it's good to she. Security but with the crowd there, I totally see why security is a must and we were the least of their worries. If your young and looking to hook up in Jamestown, this is probably the place for you. If you're in your 30's and want to chill at a bar and have a beer, avoid at all costs. read more

If you're young DO NOT go here. My friends had SO MUCH trouble here. They used an app on a phone to verify out of state IDs. One of my friends had an out of state ID and the ID did not scan so they refused to let him in. A police officer that was there on duty verified the ID and only then did the manager let him in. He refused to let him in until then, even when given other forms of ID. Even after we got in, one of the friends that had his ID checked multiple times and had multiple drinks was kicked out after they discovered his ID was expired. Following that all of the bartenders were extremely rude to us, even the ones that had validated IDs, telling us it was our fault they had to check IDs this way. I've been going to the deck here and there for the past few years but it's either a (somewhat) hit or a miss. My friends and I decided to stop by this past Thursday for "Throwback Thursday" since The Deck advertised $1 Miller Lite draft. When we got there the bar tender (a long haired red-headed male) explained to us that the keg wasn't done chilling, a little annoyed we opted for bottled Miller Lite until we could enjoy the draft on special. While sipping our beers, we watch at least EIGHT people leave because they either had to pay the $5 membership or they had come for the $1 draft special. During all of this, my friend had gone to the bar to get a second round but the keg still wasn't ready so she came back with bottled Miller lite again. Finally we decided to go see if the keg would ever be ready. The bartender asked if we wanted another round, so we asked since the keg wasn't chilled are the bottled Miller's $1? He responded no those are $2.50...we mentioned how even though you advertised "Throwback Thursday" with $1 Miller Lite drafts so we came and the keg isn't ready? The bartender then told us that if we had gotten there earlier (we got there at 7:45pm) we could've gotten the end of the last keg. Then I asked what time they opened that day, he said 5pm. I asked what time the keg ran out and he said 5:20pm......... After hearing that blatant lie, and it was clear he had no interest in keeping customers we asked for the tab and walked across the street to Potent Potables. It's not about the money, it's the principle of it. The fact that the keg wasn't ready and people had come out after seeing it advertised and the employees of The Deck weren't apologetic/offer any solutions. The Deck could be a really cool place but the staff isn't friendly and doesn't seem to care about guests having a good time. I can't recommend this place to anyone, nor would I ever bring any friends from out of town because it was so unwelcoming. I hope after seeing some of these reviews that changes are made. read more

The Deck Sucks! The bartender stopped serving our entire group because the bar trash we met wasn't wearing wrist bands. Then we received a security escort out of the bar. They advertise local beers however, the beer selection is limited to the worst beers of the 70's. Not a waitress in the place, long lines at the bar. Very limited liquor selection. And they have the balls to charge $5 for membership that should be given away with a box of cracker jacks. read more

After reading all of the reviews for The Deck I felt it necessary to sign up for Yelp and do this place some justice. First of all, The Deck is not a restaurant and does not claim to be. All of the food that comes here is done through an outside business that is located just downstairs and has a very good selection that is much fresher and better than most music venues/bars. Secondly, I have been visiting this place for much of its existence and I would put the age range of people enjoying themselves anywhere from 21-80(I know that's a big age range but it's the truth). There are some nights where the older crowd seems to be upset that the youngsters are infiltrating their hangout but many nights it is a place where people of all ages, races, and sexes can come to have a good time and grab a drink and watch some of the best live music in the area. Lastly, as a Jamestown resident I know that when it comes to parking there are a few no-no's. All of the parking at Mike's Exxon are designated as The Decks parking. If you are having your car towed then maybe it would be a good idea to read all of the signs that are posted at Stafford Square, Wells Fargo, The post office, and Potent Potables. I mean come on people are we not all adults and should be held responsible for our own actions??? The owner of The Deck would never call a tow truck on anyone in Jamestown. Well, that is enough of my rant on the misinformed people who had a bad experience at this fantastic hangout. So if you and your friends are looking for a relaxed adult hangout in the center of Greensboro and High Point then The Deck is the place for you! We went to The Deck at River Twist last night to hear the Josh Preslar Band and Joe Dean perform mostly blues. What an experience! The music was good and the atmosphere was unique. It's really hard to describe! Maybe the pictures I've posted will help. The owners and staff were hospitable and we felt at home. That's what it is - a homey and wacky place to enjoy live music. Drinks are prepared at the bar, and food is catered by the Fresh Manna Cafe which is a separate business, but in the same building. When the band took a break, we wandered into the River Twist gift shop. It is also delightfully wacky and unique.The Friday & Saturday night live music is from 7:30 to 11:00, which is the perfect time frame for us. read more

It's nice to see people my parents age out having fun and all, but not so much when they're sloppy drunk on the dance floor. On the plus side, they do offer annual memberships, so you should only have to pay to get in once, if you want to go back. We came to hear the Plaids play for the first time. They were good. My girlfriend and I live in Greensboro and I know why we haven't been back in over a year. The owner needs to invest in some bathrooms especially for women. 7 ladies waiting and 3 were in the bathroom. The portable potties are a joke. No women would go in those. Maybe the Owner can ask his girlfriend or mom to go in those. Really sad that this place has never changed. The green carpet sucks on the dirt floor. You can't dance on it haha and he should put some concrete down. Bumps everywhere. I'm surprised he hasn't been sued over someone falling on it. Decent music but if you want to wait 45 minutes to the bathroom don't go here. There is nowhere else open at midnight really neither. All that money he is making and still has one tiny commode. Since my last review I have since given them another shot. Went back for a live music event and was properly attired this time. The event was amazing and the place was packed! Seating was limited, but since this is essentially an open deck, that is to be expected. People watching was fun and the band was solid! Will definitely be going back. The only issue was that they accidentally put someone else's drinks on my tab. The issue was handled fast and appropriately.
