The most beautiful speakeasy in NOLA, it's classy, discrete and fabulously interesting. It's super easy to miss if you don't know about this place. My husband and I went here for good birthday drinks before dinner and were very pleasantly surprised. We did get the drinks, there were great but don't experiment with very different stuff, I got a Japanese nori martini that I had to send back but still got charged for. I got a salad that was good but my husband's burrata was excellent. The drinks were decent but the ambience was what was impressive. The service is good, food was also decent. You'd never find it with the naked eye but Salon Salon is tucked deep into the back of an alleyway off Carondelet Street. The entrance is nice with an overhead and plants lining the walk down into the lounge. Once you're in you're greeted by a hostess, who was actually a bit snarky and rude when seating us for our reservation (also said by another guest we spoke to). The actual space itself is moody, dimly lit with red accents throughout. It has a polished feel and the environment is incredibly intimate. Our waitress was very nice and made ordering with a party of 10 seamless. For our order we got a banana Negroni and a glass of white wine. The wine was great, crisp and sweet. The Negroni was strong and bold with the banana peeking through the drink with flavor. They also offer a few bites off their menu but we opted not to grab one there. The whole experience was fun and everyone liked their drinks. It's a great place to relax and get some drinks but the experience with the hostess was a bit off-putting. We stopped in on a Saturday night while staying at the Maison Metier. When we walked in they informed us that they were short staffed and service might be slow. We were sat right away and our waitress arrived soon after. The ambiance and decor has a dark, sexy speakeasy vibe. The drinks arrived pretty quick. I had the Rhuby Blues, which was light and went down easy. As of June 2026, cocktails seem to run about $18. I enjoyed my one drink. In the future I'd come back but it seems like a place to kick off the evening, and not so much a spot to hang out all night. read more

Came in after dinner with a large group to celebrate my 42nd birthday on the night of 10/30 with a 10pm reservation. Overall, my party had a great time. The atmosphere was lively, the drinks were great, and the music set the perfect vibe. We reserved a large section for 13 people Our main server, a gentleman, was very friendly and attentive. However, we did have an unpleasant interaction with a second server, a woman who was quite rude when we were taking photos and videos. Instead of politely asking us to turn off the flash, she shouted across the area, which was unnecessary. Later, when bringing drinks, she accused us of recording her, even though the focus was clearly on the drinks. She could've easily ruined the night, but I chose to overlook it and continue celebrating. We've genuinely loved this restaurant in the past, which made this experience especially disappointing. One of the reasons we've recommended it before is because it's one of the few late-night spots with great food, cocktails, and an amazing atmosphere. During a previous visit, we had called ahead to ask if bringing a baby was okay and were told it was completely fine, so we didn't think to double check this time. When we arrived, we were immediately told children weren't allowed. We politely explained that we had been there before with a stroller and were simply asking if the policy had changed. Unfortunately, the interaction with management felt cold and dismissive from the start, as if we were causing an issue when we were only looking for clarification. We stayed respectful the entire time, but the experience left us feeling unwelcome and confused by the inconsistency. It was disappointing because this had genuinely been one of our favorite spots in the city. There is a secret panel that opens up and allows you to get back to the hotel - super cool :) We tried the burger, frog less and crab au gratin. All very good and the cocktails were interesting too. We asked the waiter bunch of questions - he was new, so he couldn't answer them :) hopefully he does his homework for the next guests - how long has this place been open - the hot sauce with the frog was super spicy and tasty!! Went here several weeks ago. Ambience was great and our waitress was so very nice so that's the only reason they're getting 3 stars. When we arrived, we were seated at one of the little tiny tables with two chairs along the wall. I love to "graze" and try as many bites as I can when I go out to try new places and also prefer sofa or booth type seating. The place was half empty so me and my husband politely asked the hostess if it was possible to be moved to a table with a sofa. She stated she'd check (she was clearing off another area at the time). When our waitress came back over, I informed her the hostess was going to check to see if we could be moved to a table with a sofa. The waitress asked something like "hey can they be moved to a table with a sofa?" I guess the hostess took this as us trying to ask the waitress about being moved when we did no such thing as we were aware she was cleaning off another area and in no way wanted to rush her. I'm about sick of these no customer service having ass people in the world though! We told her thank you a couple of times more that night and the first time she refused to say you're welcome and the second time she managed to muster up a response of "enjoy". If it weren't for the waitress and ambience, I'd give them zero stars just based on her behavior! We ended up ordering two of the redfish sandwiches (very good but quite small), the pommes pave (good but very salty), deviled eggs (also quite salty), and about 6 cocktails between the two of us. I believe we ordered one order food item but can't recall what it was. We went there to graze on a bunch of small bites and enjoy a few drinks which is why the little ass table wasn't going to be suitable. Before I begin, I want to note that I have over 10 years of experience in the service industry as a hostess, server, and bartender. I understand how restaurants operate, and I try to be very understanding when dining out. Unfortunately, my recent experience was disappointing. To start, the bartender was wonderful and both the food and drinks were up to par. However, our interaction with the hostess made the overall experience uncomfortable, which is unacceptable when you're spending a significant amount of money dining out. We arrived without a reservation, and the restaurant was not busy at the time. We were seated directly next to the front doors, and the area was extremely cold. After sitting for a short time, we politely asked to move to one of the many open tables. A server we recognized said they would check availability, but when they spoke with the hostess, she responded by rolling her eyes, raising her voice, and stating that the tables were "for reservations." From a service standpoint, this felt dismissive and unnecessary--tables themselves are not reserved, guests are. Guest comfort should always be the priority. After this interaction, we felt ignored and received uncomfortable looks throughout the remainder of our visit. We later shared the situation with a staff member who we assumed was the manager. Unfortunately, they never asked what could be done to improve our experience. In the service industry, that follow-up is standard practice. Regardless of the situation, the appropriate response would have been an apology and a genuine effort to make things right. Our server eventually offered to move us to the bar, which we accepted. Our request was never about aesthetics--it was about comfort. We still tipped our server 20%, however they only checked on us once for the remainder of the evening, and the bartender ended up being the one checking in on us. While the bartender was kind and attentive, we were never offered a second round of drinks, from them or our waitress which added to the feeling of being unwelcome. We do not place blame on the bartender, as the situation likely became uncomfortable for staff overall. We were also informed that we could not split the check due to a system issue. When guests are spending an excessive amount of money, the ability to split a check should be a basic accommodation and not an added complication. After many years in the service industry, I was disappointed by how this situation was handled. While the food, drinks, and bartender were excellent, the overall experience left a negative impression. There are many places to dine where guest comfort and hospitality are prioritized, and sadly, this visit did not reflect that. read more

I first came across Salon Salon when planning my first trip to NOLA and knew I had to see it for myself. My experience was phenomenal. There were no reservations available but calling ahead secured a spot. The hostess Monique was absolute perfection and lovingly showed us to our wonderful nook. The lighting and large array of books was truly a spectacular backdrop for a wonderful evening. I ordered the fry bread which our waiter customized to make vegan for me and was just perfect.
