Ambiance was nice. Food was mediocre. Everything was a bit overpriced. Service was very slow & inattentive. Hostess was unwelcoming. Location was hard to find. Wasn't a fan or the food or experience.

A French-inflected library bar in the CBD, it's the kind of place you might stroll past without realizing a hidden gem is sitting right in plain sight. The ambiance was absolutely stunning. We arrived at night, and even in the dim lighting, the charm of the space--from the books lining the walls to the velvet chairs and lush animal-print accents--created the perfect Saturday night vibe. It was also quieter than a typical bar, which made it feel refined and intimate; you can actually enjoy a real conversation while soaking in the beauty of the space. The drink menu is short but tasteful, with a wide range of profiles. With an exceptionally skilled bartender (sad I did not catch his name), every cocktail was perfectly balanced and beautifully executed. He was also happy to craft off-menu drinks by request. The host was also warm, funny, and attentive. We didn't get to try the food this time, but we're already looking forward to it on our next visit!

Came in after dinner with a large group to celebrate my 42nd birthday on the night of 10/30 with a 10pm reservation. Overall, my party had a great time. The atmosphere was lively, the drinks were great, and the music set the perfect vibe. We reserved a large section for 13 people Our main server, a gentleman, was very friendly and attentive. However, we did have an unpleasant interaction with a second server, a woman who was quite rude when we were taking photos and videos. Instead of politely asking us to turn off the flash, she shouted across the area, which was unnecessary. Later, when bringing drinks, she accused us of recording her, even though the focus was clearly on the drinks. She could've easily ruined the night, but I chose to overlook it and continue celebrating. I'd definitely come back because we had a great time overall but I'd just prefer not to have her as our server again.

What a cute speakeasy! We walked by and were able to find it easily from the outside, but the secret is to go through the hotel and get in through the bookcase. The vibes are super sexy & sleek inside. We got seated quickly and ordered a round of cocktails. My martini was perfect. Our waiter gave us some great reccs.

New Orleans wasn't shy about drinking during the prohibition of alcohol, so speakeasys aren't common here. But this place is a solid one - push the shelf to enter and enjoy the dark lit bar and lounge area with a velvety theme walls and curtains. Go into the bathroom for some French jokes. The staff was friendly enough to take my drink back and redo it to how I liked it - thank you! The pink demon was my favorite, I will for sure come back for this drink. The unexpected had a strong citrus-like bitterness so I sent it back and had a version with whiskey sour, which worked out so well. Come here for a nice dim-lit evening escapeed when even if you're with a friend, it somehow feels like a date.

We've genuinely loved this restaurant in the past, which made this experience especially disappointing. One of the reasons we've recommended it before is because it's one of the few late-night spots with great food, cocktails, and an amazing atmosphere. During a previous visit, we had called ahead to ask if bringing a baby was okay and were told it was completely fine, so we didn't think to double check this time. When we arrived, we were immediately told children weren't allowed. We politely explained that we had been there before with a stroller and were simply asking if the policy had changed. Unfortunately, the interaction with management felt cold and dismissive from the start, as if we were causing an issue when we were only looking for clarification. We stayed respectful the entire time, but the experience left us feeling unwelcome and confused by the inconsistency. It was disappointing because this had genuinely been one of our favorite spots in the city. What made it even more frustrating was that we had specifically come there hungry after getting into town late, knowing they served food late into the night. We ended up leaving not only disappointed, but honestly starving too.

This is a dark, comfy, richly appointed speakeasy with delicious espresso martinis and other cocktails! The couches devour you in soft luxury and the service is very good. We had a nice time here.

One of those hidden-in-plain-sight spots that feels like stepping into a more refined version of New Orleans nightlife. It's the perfect place to catch a trendy cocktail -- think craft ingredients, elegant glassware, and bartenders who actually care -- all while soaking in the sounds of live jazz. Whether you're starting your evening or looking for a nightcap, the vibe is chill, upscale, and just a little bit glam. The kind of place where locals bring out-of-towners to impress them without the chaos of Bourbon Street. If you're looking to sip, sway, and unwind, Salon Salon delivers.

Everything was phenomenal, loved the vibe and the service was all around five stars. The food and beverage were 12/10 and I will definitely be going back again next time i'm in NOLA.

I think this was the pink demon. It was good but wouldn't order again. A little too sweet.

Cool place to hang out and get a cocktail. Their drinks are unique and creative. We enjoyed our time here. Service was really quick as well. It's got a fun and unique ambiance.

We were here a few years ago when it was still called Bar MARiLOU, and the atmosphere feels just the same--moody, stylish, and inviting. Our server was awesome and really elevated the experience. We ordered three appetizers and two cocktails. The cocktails were very unique and unlike anything I've had before, which was a fun surprise. The appetizers were amazing--especially the deviled eggs with caviar, the pork belly, and the fries. Everything was flavorful and well done. Definitely a spot worth revisiting.

What an absolutely amazing experience. Dante and the other bartender with the beautifully colorful hair were absolute gems! Thank you Dante for laughing at my jokes! Monique, the hostess, was gorgeous and so kind and accommodating. Thank you so much Monique for showing us the secret room it really put the cherry on top for my bday. If you're in the area you HAVE to go.

Words simply cannot express how much I continue to be blown away by the exquisite quality of food,…read morebeverage, service, and uncommon hospitality demonstrated and perfectly executed by this New Orleans establishment. My wife and I visited on our first NoLa trip together about 4 years ago and make it a point to go every time now. Our first time we stopped in for lunch at the bar and had an excellent experience, and decided to return. We came back on the next trip just to grab a drink and a snack before heading down for dinner in the Bywater. The bartender (Chris) gave a bunch of recommendations for places to visit that way, all of which we have done in the past few trips and have loved. But it's this past trip where we were truly blown away. We were in town for JazzFest and after walking back to the French Quarter, we were thinking about food options and decided to take a gamble to see if we could get a seat at the bar or maybe grab a drink for the road before getting food somewhere else. The bar was full when we got there around 8/8:15, but they had a no show and could serve us, as long as we ordered quickly and were ok with the check hitting the table right at 9PM. Given our slightly (perhaps generous) inebriated state from being at the festival all day and being slightly underdressed, we felt this was quite a kind accommodation. With the clear expectations of needing to get our orders in quickly, we wasted no time making a decision on our drinks and a few food options. Despite this need for a quick turn around, at no time did we feel rushed. The food and drinks were absolutely perfect, as they always are. But what impressed us most was the staff. At no point did the hostess or wait staff seem annoyed by us, despite us parachuting in from a music festival and looking like sunburn and poor decisions. By managing expectations on the front end, we never felt rushed despite the need for a quick turn around. They were all lovely, professional, and as cordial as if we were regulars with standing reservations once a week. In terms of atmosphere, it is always perfect: lively and fun for a date night, dinner with friends/family, or just a nice drink before a night out and about. I truly cannot begin to explain how much I love this restaurant and every experience I've had there. The awards and accolades this establishment (a sincere and lofty term Jewel of the South truly deserves) have been awarded are beyond well earned. Restaurants around the country should aspire to provide the quality of food, service, and overall hospitality Jewel of the South provides on a regular basis. It will continue to be our first and foremost recommendation to anyone we know who is going to New Orleans. Bravo! We shall return!

Supposedly…read morereservations were hard to get, but that is because they allot most of the place for walk-ins, so you don't need to put in the effort that I did to book a time a month in advance. We were seated in the upstairs area and tried some of their drinks. We got the Brandy Crusta which is their most popular drink and the Pouvez-Vous Poulet which is a seasonal cocktail. The Brandy Crusta has the cup dipped in sugar with a fairly strong cocktail within. Definitely get this when you are here as that is one of the best Brandy Crustas and is historical. The Pouvez-Vous Poulet is a duck fat washed rum cocktail and is also very delicious. You cannot really go wrong with any cocktail, but definitely order the Brandy Crusta for the true experience here. Though, honestly, while the cocktails are good, it was not as memorable as the other Top 50 Best Bars in the World that I have been to, but I won't dock a star off because of this, since the cocktails and overall experience otherwise were fantastic. Service is good but can be a bit slow, but it is an acceptable tradeoff for a more quiet ambience compared to downstairs.

While the Sazerac wasn't invented here, this is arguably its most iconic home, a place where New Orleans cocktail history comes to life. I would use this version as your gold standard when dining out in New Orleans and looking for a perfect Sazerac. We enjoyed watching bartender Rachel craft each drink. Rye whiskey, Peychaud's Bitters, and sugar are stirred in a small pitcher with ice. The serving glass is chilled, then emptied, and finished with an absinthe rinse along the rim. The cocktail is strained into the glass and topped with a lemon peel. The atmosphere makes the experience even better. The murals, the history, and the energy of the room give it a sense of occasion that you do not get at most bars. We had such a great time sitting at the bar that my wife and I each finished two and a half Sazeracs, which tells you everything you need to know.

The Apothecary was the cure. We grabbed seats mid bar and before we even finished settling in, there were waters waiting on the bar. That simple move already separated this place from the chaos outside. It's hospitality in its cleanest form: welcome in, take a breath, we got you. Inside is low light and old time apothecary mood, menus like a spellbook, but it's not gimmicky. The bartenders move like they've done the reps. Calm. Precise. No frantic showboating, no syrupy cover ups, no sloppy pours even with the parade energy banging on the door. We ordered two and they were both dead on. Alchemist Elixir: pea flower gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon. It shows up pale violet with an orchid on the rim and yes it's pretty, but it's also disciplined. Floral without tasting like perfume. Bright without being sour. A drink that makes you slow down. Plus a magic chemists surprise. Corpse Reviver #2: local gin, Lillet Blanc, Grand Marnier, absinthe, fresh lemon. Cold, crisp, citrus first, then the herbal edge and just enough absinthe to remind you what city you're in. Served in a textured coupe with a cherry skewer, details handled like they actually matter. Outside, the streets were selling amnesia in plastic souvenir cups. Inside, The Apothecary was serving adults. Let Bourbon Street keep the grenades. Give me the anecdote .

The decor is very French Quarterish, intimate, and exactly what you'd expect from a classic New Orleans cocktail bar. I'm a big fan of sitting at the bar, so as soon as I walked in, it was time to camp out at my favorite spot. Food wasn't on my mind today, so if you're here for a food review, you might want to skip this one . This was strictly a drinks only mission. At first, the bartender was a guy I recognized from Cure, which instantly set the tone. the bartenders there actually know their craft, so I already felt like I was in good hands. Then Zari entered the scene. I'm not sure if she was just getting on shift or wrapping it up, but she completely elevated the experience. I told her I'm a gin person (heavy on the gin), and instead of giving generic suggestions, she actually tailored recommendations to my taste. I ended up ordering the Clover Club cocktail, and it did not disappoint. Balanced, refreshing, and beautifully crafted exactly what I want from a gin-based drink. Then came my bonus round: a shot of Song Cai Dry Gin from Vietnam. Clean, botanical, and surprisingly smooth, definitely not your average gin. If you're into spirits with gumption, this one is worth trying. Peychaud's delivers: the drinks. The vibe is solid, the bartenders know their craft, and the gin selection is impressive.
