Prior to Tonsor my husband would jump around near by places and never knew what he wanted. He tried Haniff after scheduling the following week, reshaped his beard to better angled and adjusted his hair. Now, we will not go anywhere else. So much so that Haniff did our entire wedding party before our big day. Haniff also gave our son his first straight razor shave which if we are being honest, is becoming a man moment. From a scrappy hippie kid to clean polished and ready for prom. The shop is clean and well decorated. I've personally sat in the waiting area as my husband was finishing and was able to ease drop on real conversations and witness his skill and how we supports his team. The lady sitting next to me asked me if I had an appointment and I said I did not, and she got up and asked if I needed a haircut (yes, she worked there). Kimberly then proceeded to give the sides and back of my head a perfect snip (#3 blade) while we chatted about Cecil's history. There actually was a Cecil, he started the barbershop way back in 1944 (it was closer to downtown Vancouver back then), but over the years it has moved a couple of times, resting in its current location for over six years now. The shop, when I was there, was being run by all women, including Cecil's granddaughter who now manages the shop. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes and without a reservation (altho I will make one next time as Cecil's had people coming in throughout my time there, all with appointments). He offered a time slot twenty minutes later and I accepted. I was accidentally fortunate to have Chico be my barber this visit, so I got to know the man a little while he was cutting my hair. Fascinating fellow with an good sense of humor. Each of the barber stations was fully stocked with every clipper and attachment you could think of, and they were CLEAN. As an aside? It was fascinating to watch these folks do what they do. He handled his clippers similar to how an artist would wield a large paint brush, delicate strokes for a perfect fade. I didn't even know what one of those was until I was sitting in his chair. Anyway, when I left his shop I was extremely satisfied with the result; the cut was great. I recommend Chico's 100% - If you call ahead they might be able to pencil you in on the spot. In my humble opinion it's worth the attempt.
