I was looking to lighten up my long, shoulder length 2B/2C curls and to trim side swept curtain bangs. I'm no stranger to edgy looks -- I walked in with my hair dyed neon green and my sides undershaved. I wanted a squared-off shape overlaying the shave that retained my hair's volume and length but took out some weight. I mentioned *several times* that I wanted my hair kept long enough to be able to tie up into a top bun. I showed her a photo of me with longer bangs from a previous wolf cut that I'd loved and indicated that those were the bangs I wanted. I also showed her photos to demonstrate the overall shape I was looking for (mullet adjacent) but only because I wanted the front layered shorter than the back. Based on responses, I was becoming anxious about being heard at this point so I repeated that I wanted to retain the length, again. Her first cut took off the entire left side of my head. I was not consulted about the placement or length of the cut which was dramatically more than what I'd requested. I felt over half a decade of curls cascade down my neck. When I expressed concern I was encouraged to wait until it was done. After washing and styling, nearly the entire top and back of my head had been chopped from roughly 8 inches to under 2 inches, often at alarming angles. The only curls left were a bedraggled clump hanging from the base of my neck. I looked like Weird Barbie with a rat-tail. Like someone had taken hidden rage out with kitchen scissors on a doll, only I was the doll. I was in shock and visibly upset. Ms. Samuels was apologetic and offered a $20 discount. I deferred until I realized that not only was I no longer remotely recognizable to myself I also could not put my hair up or back, not even with bobby pins. I was issued a full refund with politeness which I am grateful for. The heavy product used, later left a white powdery residue on my face and clothing. I have also since salvage-cut everything to above ear length. I trust this was not deliberate. I was also looking for a summer-refresh and instead, lost my curls, my color, and cried myself to sleep that night. Take that as you will.

Sounds simple but no, it's sadly not very simple to find a stylist who both understands the cut and my hair texture well enough to execute it at all well, unfortunately. So I got to QoS. My stylist is SUPER nice. Bu then she does something I've never had done in all my decades of going to salons: Turns the chair around so I'm not facing the mirror the entire appt. I thought it was odd but went with it. Mistake. BIG mistake. Why? Because at the end of the cut when she turned me around I realized she'd used a razor on my hair. A RAZOR. And I had no idea she'd used one b/c of the mirror oddness. Listen, I'm sure that there are curly/wavy hair textures that look great with a razor cut. Mine just isn't one of them. How is it even possible to not bother to check in with a curly haired client about using a razor? HOW? I didn't even think to address it b/c usually people who bill themselves as well-versed in curls at the very least ask about using a razor (though in my vast salon experience, almost no stylist has mentioned using a razor on my hair). Almost a year later and my hair is still recovering. It's been awful. My generally great hair was shattered. No curls, very thinned out all long the shaft. A disaster. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars i/o one is b/c the stylist was seriously such a lovely person. So lovely that I can't bring myself to even give her name here. If she does see this however, PLS do not take a razor to a new client's hair without first asking them. I spent $300 to ruin my hair here. Be warned, be careful.

Driving from 1.5 hours away, and being given this email *2 hours before my appointment received the email at 10:30 am with a 12:45 appointment and was told that they had my incorrect email prior, have zero missed calls and zero voicemails* , I rushed out the door. With it raining heavily on the highway, there was a lot of traffic and I got delayed for my appointment. I pulled up to the salon, and they not only refused to see me, but turned their backs away from me in the window, and I was told over the phone that I would be charged a full 120.00 service fee for arriving behind *due to a situation which was out of my control. And now I'm being called entitled by the owner. Would understand if it was fees applied to a future booking, as nothing in their website COVID policy states that this is not an option.* Let me also note that I tried to call multiple times *at least 3x* before my appointment time started to notify them but their phone was off the hook, so I had to email. I told them I only needed a light trim, could skip the blowout, etc. but they said no, and refused my business. They then proceeded to book me for another appointment and I asked if they could help apply some credit to the next appointment. Again was refused. *Even though there's no a policy in place that says this is not an option. I had my lawyer look over it as well to confirm.* *I had pulled up to the salon to enter and they called my phone as I was outside to cancel. I was in my car and waved politely, and am being told that made the staff "uncomfortable" by even showing up? I had an appointment! I wasn't even allowed to walk in and discuss a rebooking with them. I was super polite about it and gave multiple opportunities to amend the situation. Still waiting for this to be amended, but not holding out any hope here.* Now I just got a notification about my next appointment being cancelled (without me asking to cancel it). *The salon assumed, and is now stating they don't want my business because I'm not 100% happy with how things went down. I wouldn't want them to cut my hair now anyhow, I'm very particular with who touches my head, and wouldn't trust them after this event.* *I asked to speak to the owner to resolve this peacefully and was denied. I initially went to the salon in the spring of 2019 in preparation for my engagement shoot. I'm natural and wanted my hair pressed with clip-ins for my photos. I'll admit the consultation took a while but that is because Noël really wants to understand your hair! She was honest, took in my considerations (I really needed it cut, but didn't want to right before the photos!) and helped me get some high-quality extensions for my shoot. Following that, I became a regular as my goal was to really grow it as much as possible for my upcoming wedding. This involved a few cuts, several Emergency repair treatments, and ultimately she recommended a keratin treatment to help with my curl manageability and improve growth (I have more kinky, coarse hair). After a year, my hair grew to its longest point and actually past the length of the clip-ins I ordered a year prior. The few times I have gotten it straightened my curls have always come back! I went rogue one time when I couldn't get in and got it straightened at another salon and unfortunately experienced some heat damage - never again, but we are nursing them back :) During COVID she has continued to do virtual appointments when I can't come in, consulted me on various treatments and my wash routine, and shipped me products as I have since moved out of state. My hair continues to experience tremendous growth with the products I order from the salon and I am looking forward to being a regular again once it is safe to travel more freely! While the services are on the pricier side, I am willing to make the investment. I can honestly say, you get what you pay for at NNY. Right off the bat every employee was super nice, friendly, kind, and sweet. My questions were answered quickly, yet detailed and professional, each receptionist was very kind. I was given tea, and treated wonderfully while getting my hair done and even after. I will say though, they are on a bit of the pricey side. I usually pay $45.00 for a regular wash and press, but I payed nearly $70 at Noel's. It's okay though, because it was all worth it! My hairstylest Harley was super sweet, she made sure I left looking fabulous, and she really worked her magic! I got to meet the owner as well who makes you feel right at home. I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone in the neighborhood, or even if you just want to stop by and check it out!

I wanted a low maintenance back to blonde look and I told Dennis to do what he felt would look natural but also fun. It went beyond expectations!!! He was so careful not to ruin my hair with bleach and the result is a warm honey with dimension. Pretty unique color and it suits me. Phew!!!! Thank you so much Dennis!!!
