Ive been going here for a few years. I was referred by a friend, and that was a lucky day for me. Everyone in the office is five star: Ebony and Gina are beyond helpful either with knowledge of insurance or getting an appointment. Always personable and professional. The hygienist I most frequent is Arlene. She is great, takes great care of me and I actually look forward to getting my teeth cleaned four times a year. I just turned 65 and can say without reservation the best dentist and oral surgeon I have ever gone to is Dr Paul Luczynski and Dr Andy Chapokas. The staff that assist (Mona and others, that I'm embarrassed I can't remember names off hand) Great care, efficient (Dr Paul does crowns in one appointment), and follow up could not be better. This dental office saved my husband's life. We will forever be grateful to the Dental Docs for their thorough xray and imaging process. Last December my husband went in for a standard 6 mo exam and annual imaging. They found a mass on his uvula that they strongly suggested we get looked at immediately. After his appointment we went to a specialist and found that he had a benign tumor in his throat. Within 24 hours he got it removed, sent it in for biopsy and within a week we had answers. It was nothing at that stage but the specialist said if we would have waited much longer it would have impacted his airways and swallowing. This office goes above and beyond to review the overall mouth and oral health of it's patients. They are more than just a dental office, they are oral health partners in crime. I always find the office to have excellent music, the hygienists are very calming and thorough and the doctors are knowledgeable and have excellent bed side manner. I adore this practice!!! Everyone here is really nice! They are professional and kind! I hadn't been to the dentist in like a decade plus when I decided to take a chance on these guys! I had a terrible experience with a dentist in the eastlake area and was dreading going in. They are so informative, NOT shamey and so kind!! It's the first time I've ever been to a dentist that didn't rack up thousands of dollars worth of charges!! They recommend a cleaning, done in office same day, and a deep cleaning a few weeks out... that was all!! No braces, bleaching, lasers, referrals! I really appreciated the entire experience, which is saying a lot for someone who usually shakes and gets nauseous at the dentist!! This is mixed review, the service by the doctors was great and Ebony is very kind, and the staff is friendly. However not military friendly. I came to them last year when my crown came off, I called my insurance and made sure I had coverage but because I didn't have several hundred to replace the crown, I instead decided to have it recemented on and was quoted $110, I asked repeatedly if they took my insurance and was told yes. I later came back for a cleaning and exam, and I asked as I left if everything was good and the visit was covered as it was a routine check up, again assured yes, but things were not good. Well over a year after my first visit I received notice from my insurance of owing hundreds of dollar!!!! I was dumbfounded, I had paid, I had asked several times about coverage and had never received a bill from the dentist. So I called the dental docs, and was informed "quote change" and yes you asked but you never asked if we were in network, I was literally on the phone crying, "I would have gone to where I was covered, I told you I didn't have hundreds of dollars, it why I accepted service with the amount quoted" response was " yes I know". I'm nearly 40 years old and had many dentist as I've moved many times, and this has never happened before, dentist have always been very straight forward and I always knew what I owed the day of service, its never changed a year later. I honestly believe it was a misunderstand but I couldn't help feeling taken advantage of. I have since spoken with my insurance and with Ebony, and there nothing I can do. Edony is working with me to set up payments, but this will mean alot of hardship and any dental care is going to be put on the backburner for the foreseeable future, which is not good because I need more care. I still haven't received a bill. If your military go elsewhere unless your able to pay 80-90% of your costs, and Always Always verify, tripe verify, do not trust if anyone tells you your good. read more

I want to thank Dr. Salinger and the entire staff for the great service they provided. I was in vacation in San Diego this week and developed an extreme toothache last night. I called Uptown Smiles this morning at 7am and they had me in a chair being examined by 9am and a root canal started by 9:45. They went above and beyond the call of duty for someone that they are likely not going to see again. The entire staff was accommodating, friendly and very caring. Thanks once again. I've been seeing Dr. Luczynski for about a year now and I have had a terrific experience. The office is very comfortable; the staff is efficient and really pleasant. The hygienists/assistants are highly competent and downright comforting. Dr. Luczynski is gentle and lets you know what to expect minute by minute as he works. He is clearly concerned about your confidence in him and comfort during the procedure. I experienced some vertigo after my last cleaning (sat up too fast) and Dr. Luczynski sat and talked with me until I felt able to leave. He walked me out to my car to make sure I was able to drive safely. Now THAT is service! I'm his patient for life. read more

I usually don't do double Yelps ... but I had my first cleaning and exam at Uptown Smiles, so I needed to add a little. The hygienist was very thorough; she started giving me instructions on flossing and I thought it was sorta funny, I mean I'm 67 I have been flossing for a long time. Turns out not so, no straight up and down for those back molars -- I now have a new flossing method -- just when I thought I knew it all. Anyway, all joking aside, the visit went well. I have a few matters that need attention. I really appreciated Dr. Luczynski taking his time to explain what order he felt the treatments needed to be completed in order to spread out some of the financial aspects. I've never written a Yelp review before, but after meeting Dr. Luczynski I couldn't resist! I was referred to Dr. Luczynski by a family member who has been going to Uptown Smiles Dentistry for years. I was interested in invisaline and I also needed some routine work done (a few cavities needed to be filled). Dr. Luczynski had a very gentle touch and took his time to make sure everything was done just right. I have been so pleased since leaving the office, the contact between my teeth is perfect and my mouth has never felt better. I would also like to mention Dr. Luczynski's attention to the cosmetic aspect of his work. He is as much an artist as he is a dentist. Dr. Paul and Staff are wonderful to work with. I recently required to have a crown completed and was pleasantly surprised by the level of care and attentiveness. I am a fairly uptight person when it comes to the duration of a process, but Dr. Paul and his assistant Mona were constantly giving me expected durations and making sure I was doing OK. It is great working with the office manager, Julie, as they have a system to provide text reminders, Outlook calendar invites, etc. to ensure that I don't forget about my appointment! I moved to San Diego from LA last summer, and I was looking for a good dental in San Diego. Two of my upper teeth were very sensitive, and they started hurting really bad in December. I wasn't covered by any dental insurance at that moment since I was waiting for UCSD to add me to my husband's dental plan. I was afraid it would be unbelievably expensive to make my teeth stop hurting since I didn't have any insurance. They were very patient and figured out a plan for me, Dr Paul (I have a difficult time pronouncing his last name, excuse my English) did a temporary filling for my teeth. My teeth are no longer sensitive, the pain has stopped since then, and it wasn't that expensive at all. It has been three months since I had the temporary filling, it's still in very good condition. Now I'm covered by insurance, will definitely come back to get permanent fillings soon. read more

Believe it or not, I actually now live in Seattle and fly to San Diego twice a year for my teeth cleaning and whatever dental work I need that year. Why? Because I have finally found a perfect dentist - Dr. Luczynski. I have complex issues with my teeth and had gone through quite a few dentists before finding Dr. Luczynski. I have started seeing him a few years ago, before he took over this office. He has always done an excellent job! Whether it is a filling or a crown, they always feel and look perfect. Dr. Luczynski never recommends or does more than is truly needed. I was in need of a lot of dental work and other dentists pressured me in doing it all at once, which was unaffordable. Dr Luczynski created a treatment plan for me, so that my teeth can be taken care of and I could afford it. Highly recommend! read more

Dr Paul Luczynski is by far the best dentist I've ever been to! Not only is he very compassionate while listening to all your concerns, he is also highly skilled and very thorough. He takes the time to explain things to you so you understand what is going on with your teeth which is very comforting. And to top it off he's the best at giving injections- I barely felt them! His staff is also wonderful, they always call the next day to see how you're doing. And if I'm in a bind and need to see him soon they will make every effort to squeeze you in ASAP. The office ambiance is so much greater than any other I have ever been to and the warm greeting of the receptionist Julie instantly made me feel like it was going to be a great experience. Which it was! Dr. Luczynski was extremely knowledgable, honest, and caring. He and his assistant Mona truly made me feel calm and like they had my best interest in mind - they kept checking in with how I was doing throughout the work which made me feel like they really cared. Dr. Luczynski has that rare capability of being both an extremely good dentist and a really nice person! I just completed doing Invisalign, not so much for cosmetic reasons, but because my crooked lower teeth were causing advanced wear to both my lower and upper front teeth. Dr. Luczynski and his assistant, Mona Lisa, understood immediately my apprehensions about getting "braces" (again) vs. my desire to keep my teeth healthy. He was very attentive to every detail and always included me in his thought process, making sure that I understood and agreed with his treatment plan. He insisted that both of us were completely happy with the results and did not quit until that happened. Additionally, when I completed the Invisalign, he filled the worn upper edges of my 2 lower front teeth for no additional cost! Now my teeth are perfectly aligned and look beautiful! I became Dr. Feider's patient when she took over my dentist's practice. I believe she has either intentionally or otherwise done dental work I did not need and in my case has done bad work. To add insult to injury it appears she charges more money to non-insurance patients, in addition to being higher than a lot of other dentists in the area. As the coup de Gras, After she told me I needed yet another expensive crown, I found a dental plan that showed her as a participant where there was some amount of discounts on dentistry. After I purchased it I found out she did not honor that plan. So I went to another dentist who did honor it because she told me I had a dire emergency to replace yet another crown. I went to the new dentist with credit card in hand ready to get this crown replaced. After he examined the crown, he told me it did not need replaced, that we can keep an eye on it but that I may never need it replaced. Thankfully I found an excellent dentist who has integrity and is a perfectionist. This whole situation has been very expensive and distressing, and I'm very disappointed in Dr. Feider. read more

I have been a long-time patient of Dr Feider's and have always found her to be an excellent dentist. However, I recently had a dental emergency when my crown cracked off over a weekend. By Monday morning I was in a great deal of pain, and when I called first thing Monday morning hoping to be seen ASAP, I was told she would not actually be in the office for two more days. When I asked who she had on call for her, I was told she did not have any dentist to cover for her and that I would have to wait until Wednesday to be seen by her. Interestingly,, I was told she would be willing to come into the office the following day, Tuesday, to take care of me if I was willing to pay an additional $150 Emergency fee. Since she is a new mother and never works Fridays, any patient of hers better not have any dental problems between Thursday afternoon and Monday morning. Needless to say, I have found a new dentist-- one who came very highly recommended AND who is able to deal with emergencies, either by himself or by one of his excellent associates. read more
