There were four of us and we ordered three different entrees. Everyone was pleased and plates were cleaned. We tried their specialty salad dressing, Spinach Petito, and it was excellent. Two desserts were shared and they were both heavenly. Wish we could find more places like this a bit closer to home (this is about a 45 minute drive for us) but we will get back here and enjoy this great food again. read more

My husband and I were driving from St.Louis on our way to Louisiana. Dinner time was approaching so we looked on Yelp and found this hidden gem off the beaten path, but not too far off the beaten path. The building is very cute and nostalgic seeing as it's an old train depot. Staff were very welcoming and courteous. I had the blackened tacos with pasta salad which was delicious and my husband had the shrimp with zucchini fritters which he very much enjoyed. I recommend the drive off the freeway to enjoy a yummy meal. read more

This was hard to find but worth the drive!!! We stoped On our way from AR to St. Louis. It is a very neat old train depot as the name suggest with beautiful doors and nasalgia. The food was surprisingly great. If you get the opportunity to try the Trian wreck beans you should!!! AMAZING read more

Just had a wonderful Sunday dinner at The Depot. Everything is homemade right there, gourmet offerings, super friendly service, all in a 99-year-old train depot. Building has been beautifully restored. The garden salad, garlic chicken, mashed potatoes, roasted cauliflower, warm sliced bread, and even the iced tea were all perfectly prepared. Nice ambience. I have ate here once and the food was alright. My friends loved theirs, and my pork chop was good, but the potatoes needed lots of salt and pepper to taste. The apple cake they had was WONDERFUL, and the reason for 4 stars. The service was also great, the owner is very nice and talked to us multiple times throughout our meal. read more

I try to be reserved with my 5-star reviews, but this hidden gem deserves it if any local restaurant does. Located in what is apparently an authentic relic train depot, it is quite the friendliest and most wholesome dining spot you're likely to find in mid-America. We had to detour off our intended timeline a bit to find it, but thanks to Yelp, we knew it was worth the delaying risk. The food is uniquely standard fare, presented with creativity and a flare for quality. I had the Cajun meatloaf with a fresh salad & a bowl of variety beans; my partner had a grilled chicken sandwich with fruit. Our conservative intentions for the diet that day did not allow us to attempt the bread pudding, carrot cake, or other desserts, but I'm sure those would have been the best culmination of the early afternoon meal imaginable. If this place were in my hometown, I'm quite sure we would frequent it 3-4 times a month. Quite worth a return trip for these Texans. read more

My mom and I stopped in one day right after it opened. Since then, we have been several times. The food is delicious. The catfish tacos are my favorite and I'm glad they decided to add it to the menu instead of keeping them as a special. The atmosphere is great with the unique layout of the depot. Took an easy drive to Fredericktown on Saturday, May 14th to a little known restaurant called the Depot Café. The place is run and owned by Gary and Ken. Opened in February 2016 they re-built the interior to a clean and comfortable restaurant with excellent food. We had 5 people in our party and each ordered something different so that we could experience a variety of food. The fire roasted tomato and Hungarian mushroom soups left you wanting more. The Marquand country stew was not your normal stew of meat and potatoes, this one had chicken, Italian sausage, Andouille sausage, vegetables and white beans (A MUST). The Cajun meatloaf was served with a spicy Andouille sausage gravy that was seasoned for everyone's pallet. The Ruben was piled high with corned beef on pumpernickel bread and the double cheddar grilled cheese was one of the best I have ever had. The cheese was on the inside of the sandwich as well as on the outside. Desserts...all made in house! Carrot cake, double chocolate cheesecake, pumpkin pecan torte, lemon cake and warm fruit loaf cake. They served local wines and beer, too! read more

Open-faced meatloaf, roast-beef au jus, potato salad, home-made applesauce, peanut butter cheesecake and carrot cake were all a hit. The owners Ken and Gary were very friendly and added to the positive experience. We try to find hidden gems and support locally-owned, and this was exactly what we were hoping for. I highly recommend everyone trying out the Depot Cafe. The food is so good. I've gone twice and had the chicken salad sandwich each time. Definitely a favorite. Brought hubby the second time and he tried the blackened catfish sandwich. He said it was the best catfish sandwich he'd ever had. We definitely plan on going back! read more
