    Philly cheesesteak onion rings
    Tom K.

The food here at the Abbey was amazing I got the Philly cheesesteak and my wife got the French dip . On the philly the garlic aïoli was unbelievable. We also upgraded to the onion rings over the homemade chips I'm very glad we did. They also had a nice selection of draft beers my wife got Mic UltraAnd I tried the urban Chestnut Fritzs. Our waitress Alex took extremely good care of us. And the restaurant sets in an old college that has been an all girls school and multiple other building uses so a lot of history which was pretty cool. We also got a pecan roll to go which was to die for a very nice experience in theArcadia Valley

All you can eat catfish dinner on Friday's!!

We went to Thee Abbey Kitchen to meet up with family. There is a sign to seat yourself so we found a table. They were pretty busy on a Friday evening but everyone was attentive. Everything was very good, but our favorites were the tots, French dip and the endless soup and salad bar. Soup could have been a little warmer but still good. Homey, family friendly place with very nice and attentive owners (and owner family) working!! We will definitely be going back.Truly a Diamond in the rough !!!

Chicken and dumplings in the smallest bread bowl ever but also the perfect size for me

Needed a place to eat lunch after a morning hike with our baby. Food took a bit to come out but everyone was very nice. My chicken and dumplings was nice and chunky. Bread bowl was really tiny but they did offer me a refill on the soup-needed more salt and flavor but the table salt and pepper shakers were a good add. The Monte cristo sandwich was all soggy which was sad. Fries were good. Ordered a kids Mac and cheese but it looked like the Kraft brand they gave us. Good place to go overall. Went next door for custard afterward and it was good.

Favorite place for breakfast & bunch cocktails. The atmosphere & history are unmatched. Also, they have a new dinner menu with steak & shrimp. Love the events too. We are signed up for a couples painting. We have done their tours & attended the car shows.

What keeps bringing me back, aside from family, are those massive cinnamon rolls which can be purchased from the Porter's Candy Shop on the other side of the hall even if you aren't staying for lunch or dinner. One of those cinnamon rolls is like four cinnamon rolls everywhere else! That being said, the sit down menu is basic home cooking served in a dining room large enough to accommodate a family reunion, special occasion, reception, birthday party, or other special event for gathering. However, if you plan to have more than 10ppl, definitely call ahead and let them know because staffing feels lean and they may require extra help.

French dip sandwich, real "au jus", their house made "pub chips"

A most amazing French dip sandwich from Thee Abbey Kitchen in Arcadia, MO. "Real" roast beef, amazing house-made bread and very melty provolone cheese. I could not have asked for a better sandwich! Oh, and the dip was real "au jus" from when they cooked their beef, and there were bits of the meat at the bottom of the cup! This place is truly amazing - not only do they bake all their breads and other goodies, like cinnamon rolls, they also grind their own wheat to use in these items! Even though it was 4 PM, I asked to get an order of bacon. Their bacon is some of the best I've ever had, thick, meaty, smoky, always perfectly cooked, and I just can't pass it up! Oh, and, I had to get a sweet treat afterwards! I didn't want a giant cinnamon roll (or ice cream,m - they have a little ice cream/goodie shop attached to the restaurant!), so I got one of their chocolate chunk-caramel cookies and it was the bomb - a little crunch on the outside, a little chew on the inside and lots of fantastic flavor. Whenever I am in the area (I took a daytrip to Southeast Missouri to explore all around the Saint Francis Mountains yesterday), I make it a point to stop at the Arcadia Academy and Thee Abbey kitchen! I have been here several times, and the food has always been excellent, the service is wonderful, and the building is just a cool, old, historic place. They also make some of the very best bread I've ever eaten, so even if you don't want a full meal or a sweet treat, you can get a loaf and you will be very happy!

Neat little place in rural Missouri. Nothing special or unique with the food, but the building and grounds are interesting.

This was my second trip here. The first it was the destination, the second was a side quest. I…read moredidn't realize how close it is from Elephant Rocks State Park and Johnson Shut-ins!! The store is so cute! The mix of nostalgic candy, rare finds, antiques, ice cream, coffee, and bulk items can be overwelming, but in a positive way. It is almost like a candy / treat store and a museum all in one. On this trip, I got some coffee sample packets for my husband's Easter basket, a frappe for each of us, and a couple of candies for the household. The shop is bursting with products, so the aisles are a bit tight for passing people stopped to check out the fun products. Caledonia is a charming little village with shops, eats, and several outdoor adventures in the area.

When we visited, it was decorated for Christmas, giving it a cozy, vintage holiday vibe. The shelves were filled with childhood candies (even candy cigarettes). They also have an impressive selection of coffees from around the world -- and the prices are refreshingly reasonable. The handmade ice cream bar is a must-try. We ordered an ice cream flight with five samples, perfect for sharing since we couldn't decide on just one of the many delicious flavors. The assortment of chocolates looked amazing too. Upstairs, you can stroll through a collection of antiques that add even more charm to the place. We really enjoyed our visit -- it's a place that makes you slow down, take it all in, and maybe leave with a few extra treats you didn't plan on.
