Whenever I'm in the area and want a great steak, I go to the Depot. Their 6 oz. filet is always cooked to order. If you order the steak, make sure you get the mushrooms as your side item. Some people in our party say the mushrooms are the reason you should eat at the Depot. They are that good. We've had several family gatherings here and they always let us use the separate room. This is great when you have little ones running around. The Depot on Main - try it, you'll like it. Tried to go last night with a group of nine without reservations. We were told there would be a 45 minute wait since they already had two large parties ( a party of 22 and a party of 8). The restaurant was understaffed and almost empty but they did seat three persons who came in right behind us and a single person a few minutes later. We left after an hour. I came here with some friends and found the place to be very cozy. Their menu for drinks and foods is small--they have steak, pasta, salads, etc. My friends ordered the pork chop (8/10) and primavera pasta (6/10) and I ordered their special which was the sea bass (6/10). Stopped in here for dinner while on the road for business. I was pleasantly surprised to see West Sixth IPA on tap here. I had a few large mugs of beer and the sirloin. Ordered it medium and it was brought out bloody as hell. I like steaks rare, depending on the cuts, but the sirloin does not do well rare. The mushrooms on the side were amazing, wish I would've got a double order of those. The potato skins we started with were great as well. I would come back and give this place a shot. Somewhat disappointing. We tried to order potstickers as an appetizer, but they were out. We opted for sausage stuffed mushrooms and the spinach artichoke dip - both were just "ehhh". My husband got the Reuben sandwich, but it came without any Thousand Island dressing. Two people ordered the pasta primavera and were very disappointed. The carrots were totally undercooked, and they compared to the overall taste to a Lean Cuisine meal. I ordered salmon and wanted to get mushrooms as a side, but sadly they were out of those too (I'm not quite sure how you can be out of so many things on a Friday night going into a major holiday weekend). I decided to get a side salad instead but was very underwhelmed by the flavorless ranch dressing. Our waitress kept saying that fresh bread was coming, but we never got it. She also didn't seem to be terribly familiar with the menu, as she answered "I'm not sure" when we asked about the fries green tomatoes and pasta dishes. This is probably the worst restaurant experience I've had in a long time. I decided to wait a few weeks to write this, so I can rationally gather my thoughts. I came here with a group of 6 friends for a Friday night dinner. When we showed up, the place was half empty, yet there were no employees to be found. That's a bad sign right there. Finally, a host showed up and led us straight to an available table. Once seated, it took about 10 minutes for our server to even acknowledge us. Keep in mind, there's only 4-5 other tables in the place the whole time. She takes our drink order. Though there are 5-6 taps on each side of the bar, all the beer is macro swill. I order a bottle of Sam Adams Boston Lager. Our server brings me a Sam Adams Winter Lager instead. Whatever, I drink it because I don't have the time to wait another 10-15 minutes for her to return. She proceeds to screw up two of my friend's drink orders as well, even going so far as to completely fail to bring one drink out. Despite the terrible service, I was hoping that the food would make up for the experience. Our appetizers were cheese fries and fried banana peppers. The cheese fries were cold and soggy. While the peppers were good, the cooks failed to even prep them properly, so some of them hadn't even been cut and trimmed of the seeds and stems. I ordered fish & chips for my entree, how hard is that to screw up? Well, the fries were cold and hard as a rock, and the fish was some pre-packaged over-breaded monstrosity. My friend's mashed potatoes were of the grainy instant variety, my wife's chicken tenders were also pre-packaged junk, my other friend's steak sandwich was so chewy she couldn't bite through it. Out of the seven of us, not a single person ate even half of their meal. It was that bad. Our checks came with 18% gratuity added, which the server did actually warn us about early in the meal, which was nice. She's lucky for that, I couldn't stand to leave a dime more. If you're hoping to finally find a good place to eat in Corbin, look elsewhere. read more

We walked in to make sure they were open, and asked where the parking was. The man who works there told us the parking was in the back. After we parked in the back and came in, we were informed that they were closed. Long before closing hours. Why? Not enough customers. What exactly were we? No where in Corbin could we find something to eat, and it's a dry city by the way so there's no bars either. We had to drive all the way to London - to find an open place. Our first time here was about a week ago, and the place was pretty busy and it seemed our server may have forgotten us a time or two. My husband's steak came out great, but the chicken I ordered was very dry and not very well seasoned, and the side dishes were not very good at all. The salads could be dressed up a bit more, the mushrooms were far too salty. The prices were extremely high for the quality of food they serve The atmosphere itself wasn't very friendly either. Our server tried to be cheerful, but as I said kind of forgot us. The man who greeted us didn't seem to care much at all, and a woman who walking around had a scowl on her face and looked grumpy the entire time. Someone at the next table overheard me talking to my husband and pointed her out as the manager. A manager should seem happier and friendlier in my opinion. My wife and i eat here on special occasions and the last time was no different than the others. Friendly wait staff, reasonable prices, good food. My wife ordered the L&N club sandwich with fries, it is big enough that she could only eat half lol. I had the fried chicken strips with fries and a salad. had 5 huge strips but very few fries, the salad was ok, nothing fancy. The waitress came by a few times to check on us which was nice. While visiting my son at Union College, we stopped by this location for dinner. it was recommended by the locals. It is down the road from the Colonel Sanders Museum. If you are hungry and want a good meal, don't eat there, keep on driving to this location. It is basically a steak house with traditional American food. To start, the appetizers were very good. The beer cheese is home made and worth a taste. The waffle fries with cheese and bacon are hearty and flavorful. The shrimp cocktail with homemade cocktail sauce was amazing. The oysters on the halfshell were large and flavorful. And then there are the entrees. There are several cuts of steak available, cooked to order. I recommend the sirloin. The steaks were cooked to perfection and well seasoned. To add steak sauce would be a sin. The salmon was well cooked. There are multiple sides available with your entrees. All are flavorful. Desserts were amazing, if you leave room, that is. Homemade chocolate cake, creme brulee. There is also a full bar and a good wine list. Service was very friendly and attentive. My only minor criticism is that it could be a little brighter to show off some of the architectural detail of the building. If you are staying in the Corbin area, this is definitely WORTH THE TRIP for an excellent night of dining at a good value. read more

I read the other two reviews while planning an overnight trip to Corbin to check out Cumberland Gap and the Big South Fork railroad. Very nice as you walk in. Only minus would be that it is too dark to read the menu. Thank goodness for the ihandy flashlight app to the rescue! Rich was our server and he was very good. I could not decide so I asked his opinion. I settled on the grilled salmon with caesar salad and roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Mom had the fried chicken strip dinner with mushrooms and candied sweet potatoes. We both had tea which truthfully neither of us liked. The rolls were excellent. When we inquired we were told they are Sister Schuberts. The only kind we buy. My salad and salmon were very good. The mashed potatoes-you can definitely tell they are house made. Great. The mushrooms were excellent. Mom tasted her sweet potatoes and said they weren't right. They were supposed to be candied? But she said it tasted like they had vinegar on them. She got them exchanged for mashed potatoes. Everything was really good. We figured we would be eating fast food or chains all weekend in the Kentucky metropolis! This was a nice surprise. A restaurant with a fancy feel without fancy prices. You can come here and have a $28 steak or a $6 sandwich so there is something for everyone. A nice option if you are in the area. read more

I didn't want to even give one star... Chicken so dry I couldn't cut it, I had to tear it like jerky. The veggies were like plastic. The only thing edible was the mozzarella sticks that we ordered as appetizer. Even the salad was gross, ample bacon on top of the salad but it was burned black and gave the entire salad a bad taste. I have been to many, many restaurants and consider myself to be a very low-maintenance person. Never before in my life have I been compelled to write a review about a restaurant due to a bad experience but the Depot on Main inspired me to finally make a Yelp account. This was, in no uncertain terms, the worst restaurant experience I have ever had in my life. My friend and I stopped here off the highway after traveling all day on a road trip. We originally planned to go to the Wrigley, as it was highly recommended. However, when we walked in we found that they were not serving hamburgers that night, which we were both in the mood for, so we walked over here. The restaurant itself is very nice. I much enjoyed the atmosphere and the fried green tomatoes we ordered as appetizers. We went up to the bar to order two glasses of beer, but the bartender abruptly left and we were told to come back in ten minutes. No problem! About fifteen minutes later, we returned to the bar. I ordered a beer and gave her my ID and my friend did the same. After scanning our (very real) IDs under a UV light for about three minutes, she concluded that she could not trust them to be real. No worries! My friend offered to show his passport. (Fun fact: forging a passport is a federal felony offense punishable by 15 years in prison!) But the good folks at the Depot on Main would not even look at it because they "couldn't trust us." Later, the manager came over to speak with us. She said that she had received a tip that we had walked out of the Wrigley earlier (apparently, this indicated that we were up to no good) and made it abundantly clear that this was because we were from out-of-state and we were assumed to be pulling a fast one and trying to get alcohol underage. All in all, this was an incredibly disillusioning experience. I have had bad experiences at restaurants because of bad food, bad service, and general incompetence, but you know what? That's okay. People make mistakes and have off days. However, this is the first time in my life where I have been made to feel wholly unwelcome at a restaurant and I left this place feeling genuinely hurt and disgusted. I truly hope that this restaurant does not reflect the culture of Corbin, KY because everyone else we talked to in this town was perfectly pleasant and kind. The burger was okay. read more
