I would NEVER rent from this place ever again. First time in Canada and instead of bringing our boards figured it would just be easier since we were just boarding for a day. We booked an appointment like it was suggested and walked in to see Jerome. Jerome was not friendly or helpful. Jerome stated "You're here for snowboards? Yikes. Hold on." Leaves for a bit then comes back and says "So what happened was we had two appointments this morning that came in with 12 people even tho you're suppose to make an appointment for each person so we don't really have much" and proceeded NOT to help us. I stated that we made appointments so that doesn't really seem fair so we should have been called saying this happened so we can look else where. Jerome went and got the girl in the front who was just plain nasty. Speaking to us as if we were dumb and didn't comprehend. Another person with an attitude. You would of thought, they would of just explained what happened and said but we will take your measurements and hopefully be able to accommodate what you need. Instead it was like oh well l, don't know what you want us to do.Chris thankfully came along and helped in any which way he could. Explained everything and was very understanding. He was very patient in the process of it all. My brother said his foot was tight and I personally always like my boot bigger even tho it is not recommended but we all have our preferences. As I was explaining to Chris for my brother, I prefer him to have a bigger size and Chris said he doesn't recommend it and I said yes I get that but this is what we want and then you had Jerome not mind his business and get the owner; Colleen, who was very rude but then became a tad bit nicer after she was given an attitude back. She really has no business being in business. When I repeated what Jerome said to us she said no that's not true, but so then why would he have said that? When we gave a compliment to her about Chris, she literally said "well Chris the great employee mixed up your paper work" in a very sarcastic tone. Usually owners/bosses are happy to hear their staff is doing well with their customers. Chris asked Jerome a question and he shrugged his shoulders because he clearly wasn't helping us at all. Jerome was useless in the entire process. For someone who didn't want to help us kept butting in and minding our business. Jerome has MAJOR ATTITUDE! The only reason why this got one star was because it was the lowest you can give, but it's because of how great Chris was. This place is very disorganized. Magically as time went on things were appearing of what we needed. No one knows where anything is even when they are basically out of stock. I would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AND ADVISE YOU GUYS TO GO ELSEWHERE! STAY AWAY! read more

They treat you like garbage and even have signs to indicate that they plan on treating you like garbage. 20 minute wait in line and when the 1 person was asked if they are ok she said yes???? She was the rudest woman ever and clearly took pride in it. She must own it! I personally lest and went and bought all new supplies for my 3 children elsewhere. paul at destination ski in north van is THE BEST!! i have been skiing since 1972, but i have never ever had such great service and attention to detail when buying equipment. paul could tell by looking at my bare feet, exactly what my individual needs and issues are. he makes custom adjustments for me, and took the time to explain everything to me too. if you need ski equipment dont even THINK about going anywhere else. my feet and i thank you SO MUCH paul. u rock!!! read more

The Destination Slope and Surf - Ski & Snowboard Shops Near Me - North Vancouver, British Columbia

Despite the name, they sell gear at least as much as rent it & this it the place to go for custom boot fitting. You'll pay a bit more, but these guys know their stuff and making sure you are in comfortable, well-fitting boots is their number one goal. Make sure you allow lots of time - when I went, Andrew spent three hours making sure I was in the right boots and they were properly fitted. They're worth every minute and every penny. read more

Save your money and time ! Rented skis here for the first time for this weekend. They messed up my rentals so was trying to ski in Whistler this weekend on skis that were too long and hard to maneuver. Also, while at Whistler saw the same Bula scarf I bought from these guys for $19 instead of the $25 I paid. When I called them about my rentals they said... sorry we messed up your rentals the skis were too long. Next time we will get it right. No refund no discount. Nothing. That's really poor customer service. As I've lost a lot more than the $37 rental, considering the cost of going to Whistler and paying for a day pass and not feeling comfortable on the hill. Also, having to drive there 3 times to size the rentals, get the rentals and drop them off. ( What's that worth driving a truck across town three times along with the extra time). Went looking for boots. The fitter, name starts with j, actually left me sitting there with my socks off and helped everyone else. Who does that? . I was prepared to spend $700 on boots. Went here to get ski boots, and left EXTREMELY satisfied. I had to wait around for about 10-15 mins to get helped, but the place was pretty busy, and they can only have so many boot-fitters on staff, so I can't complain about that. I received good advice from someone that took the time to try me in different boots and give me good pointers. I ended up spending a bit more than I had planned to, but am glad I did. I went back to have some adjustments made to the boots after my first time using them, and was treated very well and given the attention and help I required, as well as some advice to help me determine just what WAS required. A note about price: The prices here aren't cheap, HOWEVER, I checked online for the pair of boots I got, and was pretty shocked to find that they were being sold online for the same price I had paid, but in USD! I could not find a cheaper price online! Essentially I actually paid less for them in the store than I would have purchasing them online. I had expected to pay a bit more, which would be worth it for the ability to bring them in and have adjustments made by experts, but I was very pleasantly surprised in this regard. (Other pairs I saw were considerably more expensive than online, so this isn't the rule). The reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is the rental service. Although they have good prices ($35/day for a ski set), and are flexible with pick-up/drop-off times like most off-mountain rental places, their equipment is quite old. My wife tried on a boot that must have been at least 7-8 years old and hurt her foot a lot, and we were told by the guy there that this was the only type of boot they have. He seemed apologetic, but he didn't need to be; we were very happy with the store otherwise. However, their rental section seems a bit outdated. read more

One of the worst customer service experiences. Tried to buy expensive pair of skis, believe it was the female owner, whom totally ignored my possible custom order over 10 days period. In the end the skies were sold out and I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. Will not recommend this shop for anyone and go somewhere else. Best place to rent ski/snowboard equipment in Van area especially if you need something for the kids. Staff are good and will get you fitted with gear that works. Beware that they can get really busy because they are the best! Don't worry about the lineup for rentals, they're pretty fast and you'll be out the door and onto the slopes in no time. I've had a few experiences with Destination Ski Rentals to rent skis, but the service I received this week when I was buying ski boots was fabulous, and definitely deserves a positive review. I went here for a custom boot fitting because I have a wide foot and have a hard time finding comfortable ski boots. The custom boot footing was very in depth - and not just a sales guy trying to get you to buy custom molded ski boot insole/ski boot liners ($300 with tax)... I was actually told that I didn't need custom fit anything, just a generic $40 insole to help keep my foot back in my boot. And that my wide foot wasn't a problem, but I needed to have a boot that was fitted enough for my small ankles, which no other ski store boot fitters have ever noticed. Their boots are a bit pricier than other ski stores, BUT the price includes a 1 year warranty that includes boot alterations and general fixing of issues. My ski boot fitting included making (at no extra cost) alterations to the liner, and I was encouraged to come back if I wasn't happy with them. Melvin fitted my boots for me - apparently this is his weekend job and he works with orthotics during the week. read more

I have gone to this shop 5-6 times in total. Every time I walk out I swear I will never return. My daughter is a competitive skier and our family of 4 3-1 skis and snowboards. They owner is not helpfull at all. She demeans you and makes you feel as it is a prrovlem to give you service. The husband might be the guy that knows about product and fitting but you will leave there pissed off after having to deaa. They ooffer very liittle or not help on the phone and when you get there the service is even worse! Try phoning first. You will be told hOw they are just way too busy too help on the phone. Then you go there and you feel like a Nissan cr to them. Had enough with this crappy shop. I will spend my 1-4000$ a year at some other shop that cares aboout customers. If you want to save bucks go online. If you want service and honesty never go to destination.l Have left the other north shore shops very satisfied. Go west. Go west. read more

Big Jeff helped me with my new skis, boots and bindings when I was going back to skiing from having been a snowboarder for a long time. I have very hard-to-fit feet and he took a lot of time to custom fit my boots. I just had my first couple days on the mountain and everything felt great. I don't think I've ever had ski boots fit so well on my first go, and my skis were perfect for me. These guys are real pros. I also think it's always a good thing to try to support local businesses. I can't recommend Destination Ski enough. read more

I'm usually pretty weary about ski shops, especially in Vancouver, because there isn't any very good ones. But the guys at Destination know their stuff. I dealt with Sid, I was in the market for a new Ski Boot. He spent over an hour with me, trying on multiple boots and making sure I was happy with what I was trying on. Also, he'd explain everything he was doing and why he was doing it. The guy knew his boots! I have a weird foot, so it's extremely tough to find the perfect boot. But he did one hell of a job. I'll def be back. There was no pressure in selling me and he even encouraged me not to rush. Sid's a beauty. I'll def be back and have nothing but good things to say. Avoid Comor and Ski's and Bike's, the staff is just a bunch of seasonal guys who really don't give a shit. read more

I was hesitant about re-learning to ski after a 10 year hiatus and decided that I would check in at Destination for boots. I was fitted by Paul, and left with the right boot. The service was friendly, knowledgable and helpful. He spent about an hour and a bit trying on a range of boots that would be suitable for my foot. I was impressed that he chose boots from all price ranges, and spent quality time talking about the benefits of each boot. There was no pressure, just service. My boots needed a bit of work, however, had my boots back within a couple days. Paul was great. Even showed me the best way to fit into the boot with ease. I ended up with the perfect boot, and after 5 times out at Whistler, I'm convinced I got fitted from the best. Thank you Paul and the great staff at Destination. I read more

if you still love to ski ( and board, but I'll"ll limit it to skis), and can recognize the difference between a fine sales pitch and serious product knowledge, this is where you want to shop. The owner of the shop probably forgot more about ski equipment than most shop's actually know. I've purchased first rate equipment from destination for a while now, and based on information these fine folks provided me, my days on the slopes have been incredibly enjoyable and relatively painless (unintentional, sphincter-clinching face plants in the back bowls are not the shops fault, and yes, they can be painful) . Probably the best boot fitters in the City, and that alone should be enough to spend your $$ there. read more
