I went to see the dinner detective show in Chicago (it is in several cities) a few Saturdays ago and was very pleased.

The performances were all extra ordinary including comedic acts for its slapstick artistry. I especially found the King Kong bit inspiring. As for the rest, the aerialist, juggler, gymnasts etc all were first class and surprising since early on they are part of the " schtick" latter they will reveal their talents. The live band makes a difference. We had the Rosemary Parmesan fries which were probably one of the best fries I've had. This is surely one of Chicago's best-kept dining and entertainment secrets (it's in a rather…read moreobscure location). It's basically a cabaret - a combination of fine dining and interactive Cirque Du Soleil-style entertainment in an intimate setting. The elaborate décor will blow your mind. It's absolutely gorgeous. The quality of the food far surpassed typical dinner theatre fare. Each of the four courses was artfully plated, served at the proper temperature, and downright delicious. The goat cheese bell pepper scones app was more of an amuse bouche than a true course and no other bread was served (unless you order Parkerhouse rolls, an à la carte add-on that costs $16. Indeed!). After that, though, portions were ample. The bourbon peached glazed salmon entrée, plated with inventive side dishes, was perfection. Other à la carte dishes and entrée upgrades are available but no one in our party felt the need to order those. The service was impeccable. Variety acts were interspersed between courses - singers, dancers, a juggler, a comedian, an aerialist, and more. There was a lot of talent but it was comic actor Joe who stole the show, portraying several roles. Totally enjoyable and well worth the ticket price.

I already had a restaurant reserved, and one of the great things about this company is that you get to choose your own location--you're not stuck with a preset venue. They arrived early to get everything set up and were totally ready when it was time for the big surprise with our family and friends. After my wife nearly fainted (LOL), the party kicked off right away. All the characters are played by people you choose, which made for a ton of participation--and luckily, my friends and family are all a little nuts, so they totally went for it. The 1920s theme was super fun, and the folks I picked to be the "victims" really hammed it up. The company provided scripts for the key players and gave great direction to keep things moving. It never felt awkward or confusing--they were right there to guide things along, so no one felt lost. It was absolutely hilarious watching my friends and family try their hand at acting. I'll 100% be reaching out to this company again if the chance comes up. You should too!!

We loved our experience at Andy's Jazz Club!…read more We went to the first seating & were seated very close to the big jazz band in the front of house. The service was attentive and swift! We had some nice nicely executed cocktails (I love a good dirty martini) and some scrumptious crabcakes to start! Burgers were the entrée of the evening and they were cooked to perfection. The band was outstanding the night we were there - there had to be 16 to 18 people, playing together with perfect, experienced execution of every song. The singers they brought on really stole the show - the blonde gal in the black satin evening gown (who was absolutely incredible) and one of the gentlemen (who was also playing an instrument) did a really great job of playing off of each other (but she was an absolute 15 on a 10 scale - from the outfit, to the spectacular voice, to the whole vibe of being the lead singer with a big jazz band - we agreed we would definitely love to see HER again). Highly recommended you go and experience this lovely jazz club! We had a five star experience!

The music was fantastic, and the ambiance made the whole experience feel very special and authentically Chicago. The service was good, and it's definitely a great place to enjoy live jazz and have a few drinks. I would have loved to see a little more variety in the performance, like a saxophone or a vocalist, but overall, we really enjoyed the experience. Definitely a great spot for a night of jazz, drinks, and a nice atmosphere!

The staff was very friendly and I did enjoy the host of the show. I thought he did a great job interacting with everyone in the audience. However, we were there for a good 2 1/2 almost 3 hours and after a while the show started to feel very repetitive. The same performers and performances would come on stage on a loop. I did enjoy the performances but after a while it did become quite predictable. As far as the food, I wasn't crazy about it. I ordered the calamari for my appetizer- which was pretty good. I liked the sauce that was drizzled on it. However, my entree was kind of a disappointment. I got the lamb shank which just didn't mesh well with my taste buds. I know this is a cultural dish so it's just not a taste I was used to. However, I did wish I enjoyed it a little bit more. I will say the lamb was nice and tender. The best thing I had that evening was the pink dahlia. It was a delicious cocktail made with Malibu rum, pina colada mixture, pineapple juice and strawberry purée. It was so yummy, I had two! I'm grateful I got to experience this place, it was an overall enjoyable night. With that being said I don't see myself coming back to this establishment. For me it's very much a one and done experience.
