Great service Weird ambience. Staff hangs around in all areas and stared at our party a lot. They don't have a break room I'm guessing there were any given time 2 to 3 back of house employees with their feet propped up on their phones it was just strange. Our service provider, Tiffany was awesome. Food took a long time to come out. As a former chef myself, it tasted flavorless. I got the poor boy sandwich. Presentation was nice, shrimp undercooked, remoulade sauce literally tasted like nothing. The coleslaw was also pretty flavorless and wet. French fries were a decent portion and fresh cut, they had a strange metallic aftertaste though so I didn't eat them. I ordered a $13 bloody Mary, it was so salty I was sick when I got home and the chunks of horseradish in it or so thick... I at one point... wondered if there was bits of shredded chicken in it. My boyfriend ordered taco Tuesday special he was served cold flour tortillas hadn't been grilled or warmed up or seasoned in anyway with old chopped up chicken super spicy he was up all night with digestion problems. Mac and cheese side was overall goopy and under seasoned. The bar looks cool. Outside of the service I think it's a sad excuse for a restaurant. $70.00 for two people was underwhelming. Stopped here to enjoy my wife's 50th Birthday celebration with family as we were staying locally for the weekend. Always like to try new spots and it's even better when it's fresh and local. Grilled firecracker shrimp was an excellent start to the meal. Nicely prepared and served. Dinner selections were the burgers that were on fresh homemade buns, along with chicken Parmesan sandwich chipotle chicken sandwich and the Grilled chicken tenders. At least that's what we did order however when the meal arrived we got the chicken Parmesan pasta which was not what we ordered and my wife's Was served the children's little dishes of grilled chicken tenders. I saw that my wife and my son both pointed to the selections that they wanted to on the menu when they ordered it so we were a little bit confused when the order arrived. The manager stop by our table to talk with us and we told her that it was a 50th birthday celebration and she recommended two desserts, the avocado brownie and the peanut butter pie which were both served up very nicely and delivered in a prompt fashion. Overall it was stellar five star quality food with an interesting twist on receiving our orders which in the end worked out fine. What a pleasant surprise! After a day of traveling we really enjoyed The Dish Café. We started with the fried pickles. We've had fried pickles in the past but these were the best we've ever had. Homemade and you can still taste the tang in the pickle, so good. Next, we both ordered the black bean burger. It was fine. I thought it a bit to mushy for my liking. However, as a side dish I had the homemade macaroni and cheese. Again, it's the BEST mac and cheese I've ever had. Our super server, Dom, shared that their mac and cheese was voted best in WV. Totally believe it and to me the best in the country. So many other interesting items on the menu and can't wait to come back the next time in the area. read more

Nice surprise after a long day of hiking new river gorge. It was getting late and we'd worked up appetites - Dish Cafe was near our last hike if the day and looked promising. We were not disappointed. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, making menu suggestions for both of us, and guiding me to the best gluten-free vegetarian options. I had the house -made black bean burger served over a salad with avocado slices. I chose the buffalo cauliflower for my side and the flavor was well-balanced as opposed to the usual approach of drowning the cauliflower, leaving only the heat. Plus, it wasn't deep-fried, making it safe for a gluten free diet and healthier. To top it all off, I actually got dessert, a rarity for me. I got a GF Blondie to go. More of a dense cake than a Blondie, but whatever you call it, it was delicious - and large enough to share with the hubby. The atmosphere is casual, but warm and classy. The food was not good. Wings had no Parmesan garlic sauce it was a weird garlic butter parm and the parm balled up really bad; sauce wasn't a real sauce and didn't coat the wings at all. I had the Parmesan Garlic Wings and my wife had Thai chicken lettuce wraps. Both dishes were served on time and were delicious. Our server, Eli R. was great. I will mention that they had a disclaimer stating that if you paid with plastic there was a 3% fee added to the check.
