Oh boy! I don't even know what to say :). Wrong beer, fries coming after we were done with dinner, waiting and waiting....

I have been coming here since I moved To New York three years ago. I was carded six months ago when ordering a drink at the bar .. I've since then come in every week once if not twice for drinks and food. Tonight I was carded again and told my ID was not acceptable. I am a 30 year old woman and it was acceptable a few months ago. I asked to talk to a manager and he wouldn't talk to me. I couldn't believe it. I get dinner and drinks weeekly here. We ordered grilled medium wings to go. Grilled to perfection! Melt in your mouth. The best wings around! Larry met us at the host stand as always to say hello. Larry's a very hard working guy. Always making sure everyone is happy. Making sure the restaurant is clean and running as best as it can be. Try the grilled wings next time u won't be disappointed! They truly respect him and it shows.when we dine in the restaurant we usually wait for a table in Erin's section, but Brittany or Crystal are fabulous too! The Distillery has listened to their customers and changed their kids menu back to the way it used to be. You no longer have to pay for milk or juice. I'm not sure the portion of macaroni and cheese is the same, but it's still freshly made (not boxed) and looks delicious. We typically have good service and they have a call ahead seating list (which we use on busier nights so we don't have to wait with the kids). I recommend getting a burger on a pretzel roll! I am a Rochester area native and I even remember the first time I went to the Distillery on Mt Hope, it was awesome. They had lots of TV's, good food and friendly people, so I was excited when I heard that they were going to open one close to me in Victor. Unfortunately, the Distillery in Victor falls far short of the service and the atmosphere of the one on Mt. Hope. I think they are trying to be less of a Sports Bar and more of a family mall restaurant. If you want a fun night out with friends to watch a game and have some laughs avoid this bar, it's not for you. The manager is a serious fun sponge! My 90 year old mother fell quite ill right after we ordered our dinner at the Distillery, in Victor last night. We were forced to leave the restaurant quite abruptly. I handed the hostess my credit card and walked out the door. The next day, I returned to the Distillery to settle up. Larry Thomas, the managing partner, could not have been more gracious. Not great. Service was horrible. Poutine was cold, cheese hardly melted. Buffalo grilled cheese sandwich, chicken was over cooked. Waitress never checked in at all. We had the French Onion soup, Blackened Chicken Alfredo and steak salad. All were outstanding. The french onion soup was the best we've had in quite some time. Kathryn was our waitress and she was very attentive, very friendly and courteous. Their bar made some great tasting drinks without being overwhelmed with alcohol, just right. I wasn't charged for any condiments as someone previously noted. The only drawback was it's loud inside. With the music playing loud, everyone tries to out do the music. read more

Let me qualify this review a bit...One...I was visiting Victor, NY, from out of state and am not from there, so I don't know much about other restaurants in the area or the other Distillery locations. Two...I honestly wasn't expecting a micro-brewery just from the name. Didn't occur to me. I was there with family the night before Thanksgiving and we were happy to find a kid-friendly place that we didn't need a reservation for. Our service was fast and accommodating. I ordered the blackened chicken pasta dish and they substituted red sauce for the alfredo sauce with no problems at all. I was thrilled they had wheat pasta too! I love a healthy choice! Overall, we had a great experience here and no one had complaints about the service or food. It was very busy, yet we were able to get a table with a minimal wait. I am only giving it 3 stars because there wasn't anything special that stood out about it. But it's a solid choice for a night out. read more

Went here last night with my boyfriend for the first time (arrived at 6:30pm and waited for a half hour before being seated). We didn't mind the wait but I was turned off by the fact that our waiter sat down at our table while telling us the daily specials and taking our order. I know we're a young couple but I found it to be a bit unprofessional and too casual of an approach for my tastes. The wings were decent but not wow at all (better wings at Jeremiah's without a doubt). If you enjoy spicy foods, the ghost sauce was very good and is not as spicy as the waiter implied (the habanero sauce at Monte Alban is actually spicier). We ordered 10 wings and the waiter was able to split the wings half sweet and spicy and half plain (for the ghost sauce). He said he typically is only allowed to split wing flavors for 20 wings but he'd make an exception for us (not sure how true that was) since it was our first time. Besides that, for main entrees, I ordered the chicken mac and cheese and my boyfriend ordered the Hangover Burger but with a pretzel bun. He found the burger to be very satisfying but I was disappointed with the mac and cheese. It was not as creamy and cheesy as I was expecting and was pretty bland in terms of flavor. For drinks, I recommend the Rum Punch. Overall, the wings have potential for us to return but everything else was pretty forgettable. read more

This place is incredibly hit or miss when it comes to service. I've been a few times with friends after work and received amazing service at the bar. I've sat on the patio and had terrible service. I went the other day and our server took our drink and food order. She brought us our drink and we only saw her once after that. Another waitress ran our food and did everything else. We saw her walk out of the patio and we assumed to smoke? We ended up waiting about 10 minutes to even get our bill when our plates were completely empty. Since we needed to eventually get back to work we went inside to pay. We walked past our server and she completely ignored us and asked the manager if he wanted to drink with her at the bar! The manager looked at us and said "are you all set?" He asked us nothing about our experience or anything of the sort! I felt like this whole experience was a bad joke. Our food and drink were good as always but clearly the service was terrible. The woman who ran our food etc was amazing and I wish I could have left her a tip instead. read more

Well it is official, the Distillery has consistent disappointed. My husband and I have been to the Mount Hope, Winton, and Victor Distillery multiple times desperately trying to have a good experience and time after time the place has disappointed. Initially we declared that it was just that the entrees were just too boring, poor portioned, and poorly cooked, but the appetizers were ok. The service at all 3 locations has NEVER been good. Errors in our order, slow service, never returning with our check, bringing our check without asking if we want more drinks, and a condescending bartender, are among a few of the issue we have encountered with different staff at different locations. So we determined, it's an Ok place for appetizers as those have never been an issue. Despite the fact that each locations layout, size, cleanliness and architecture are good, we just can't get over the fact that the food is mediocre at best and the service is bad at best. To me, there must either be quite a bit of turnover and/or the staff are overextended...ultimately a reflection of poor management. Sorry Distillery, you have disappointed too many times so I feel obligated to warn others. read more

We try to visit the Distillary Victor a couple of times a month. We are always treated well by the bartenders (Ashley, Michelle and Stevie) and servers. However, Shannon Peck does an outstanding job of representing the Distillary and demonstrating superb customer service as a server. At this point when we visit the restaurant, we ask for Shannon. I was part of a party of 20 or so people who spent lunch and the afternoon at this Victor location on February 8, 2015. We stayed in the bar area and had fabulous wait staff (Allison handled the crowd at the tables and Michelle handled the bar). The food was some of the best pub food I have had in years. The wings were the best, but the burger and other sandwiches were very enjoyable (I am writing on behalf of more than a handful of people in the party). Despite the size of the crowd Allison handled everything promptly and with aplomb - and even kept separate checks organized and accurate. We would go back in a heartbeat and highly recommend the restaurant. Larry Thomas (Manager) kept checking in on everything, made sure his staff met our every need (it was a birthday party). I would have to say it's just ok here. We don't go often but it seems like when we do there's always something that is just a little off. Today it was the mashed potatoes (both my son and I ordered them). They were hardly lukewarm, actually cold. I'm also not sure how anyone could call them mashed because they were extremely lumpy (not just a few lumps but large chunks of potatoes). Waited 20+ minutes for what I was told would be a "new burger" to come back and it was the same burger I took a bite out of! I waited another 20-30 minutes for a NEW burger to be brought out. Easy, comfortable place to sit, drink, talk and eat. Food choices are solid, haven't had a better bar experience in ROC. Shannon P was very helpful in choosing a beer from the wide variety and made sure we got all the options on the specials. Wings are terrific, try the Guinness extra crispy. Burgers outstanding. Food was fine, I'm from out of town. What really sticks with me is the service. Hotel shuttle dropped me and a colleague off for dinner and we planned to take cab back to the hotel. When we asked the server how long we needed to order the taxi we found out there was no service. The general manager offered and drove us back to the hotel. Blew my mind. Normally enjoy this location more than the others. Went in there today and were sat immediately in the bar area however it was football Sunday and that must mean if you're there with kids you get ignored. No one ever came to acknowledge us and after sitting there with not even a drink offer for more than 25 minutes (when there were plenty of servers) I took my family and walked out. Upon explaining to the sloppy hostess why we were leaving her response was "are you sure?" Sure am. Went across the street to Champs and had immediate service and better food. Hello my name is Jon and my family and I recently came to eat here at the distillery and I wanted to give you guys feedback on our time there. Our servers name was Jennifer and she had excellent customer service. She made sure we were well taken care of and never left the table without making sure we were well taken care of...and she had a smile on her face the whole time had us laughing quite a bit. I must say she made our time here very worth while. She is by far one of the best servers I have ever been waited on. Timely, friendly, and gave us great advice on which dishes are delicious. My husband and I stopped in for dinner after an afternoon of car shopping. We were asked if we wanted to be seated inside or out, we chose to be outside it was a beautiful night. There are many tables outside but for some reason the hostess sat us at the table all the way in the corner next to the gate which wouldn't have been a big deal except every time an employee was leaving for their break (which was quite often) or whatever reason walked right by us, it just was an extremely awkward/uncomfortable spot to be sat in. Now on to the food--my husband ordered a buffalo chicken wrap (which he said was OK) and I ordered what was supposed to be a Chicken Santorini (chicken gyro) that had lettuce, kalamata olives, roared red peppers, tomatoes, onion and tzatziki sauce....first another waitress delivered our food and my husband asked for a refill on his iced tea as it was empty and we asked for ketchup because there was none on the table...as I looked down I noticed the French fries on my plate were non existent (the butt end of what was in the fryer) and the pita looked extremely awkward. The chicken wasn't sliced up, it was just a huge chicken breast inside...no biggie until i bite into it and there is no sauce and an overwhelming amount of huge leaves of lettuce. Our waitress stops back and asks if we need anything, again my husband asks for a refill on his tea and ketchup because we still didn't have either that we had asked the other waitress for about 5-7 minutes earlier. I also asked for a side of the tzatziki as if wasn't in the actual sandwich. At this point I'm a little irritated...I don't even have ketchup to enjoy the minimal fries that I have while I wait for the sauce to eat my dry sandwich. Our waitress comes back finally with my husbands drink, the ketchups and the "tzatziki" sauce. Not only did the "tzatziki" look unappealing, it tasted as bad as it looked. Our server was nice and all, and I don't ever complain about food at a restaurant because I have worked in one...but do yourself a favor and head across the street to Champps or even take a little drive towards Bushnells Basin and stop at the Basin Pub. read more

I would just like to say that I had a horrible experience at this establishment. My server was fantastic, but unfortunately the kitchen could not get our burgers right. Asked for a few minor specifics. Like extra cheese, no avocado slices and it made medium. It came out wrong across the board. Well done burger, avocado and of course the cheese was half off the bun. The server was understanding, tried to accommodate the table with above and beyond service. Though we were still upset because my sons steak was under cooked. I asked for the manage to come over. Apparently, the management doesn't understand that when a guest asks for them to come over to fix the food, that it means to come over at the end of the meal when the bill has arrived. Really? Well when he finally did come over and introduced himself as Chris, he took half off the bill to try to get us to come back. It didn't end there. The manager was pouring sweat as if he was running a marathon. I get a restaurant being busy and running around, but that wasn't it. His eyes were glazed over and SMELLED of alcohol. My wife and I definitely believed he was drinking and even asked the server if he was okay? She said, that he was just very busy. I think NOT. She was so nice to us and we felt so bad because, she was working very hard to help us out along with taking care of her other tables. If you do go there I hope you get Sam as your server. Another reviewer mentioned the female manager that ruined her visit and I believe it is the same woman who prompted me to write this review. I've been here dozens of times and it's always been fine. I'm familiar with one of the bartenders and she's great and I liked this place until last night. I got the beer of the month and asked a bartender about happy hour specials. She said that appetizers were half price so I ordered a Meditteranean flatbread, but I called it a pizza. My food was brought out and it was good. When I got the check I noticed that it was not only full price but three bucks more than it was on the menu. I asked the bartender about it and she said she'd get a manager. The manager came over to me, nattily dressed in an Adidas tracksuit, and said, ""Well you ordered this, right?" I said, yes, I ordered the flatbread/pizza and she said, "Well, there is a pizza on the menu, and that's what you ordered." I told her I didn't see that, I had asked about the appetizers and that's what I thought I ordered. She said, "Well, you ate it, didn't you?" I was pretty shocked and angry. Not "Oh, I'm sorry, actually you ordered the pizza," or anything that was conciliatory at all. Purely argumentative and confrontational. She took a beer off my tab and at that point I couldn't care less. She treated me like a jerk, as if I was too stupid to understand the complex menu. Wow. I first walked in and saw the bright shining face of a young lady that goes by the name Brittany. The wait was a little long but man oh man was it worth the wait when our dark handsome server came over with a big creepy smile on his face. He went by the name Jeff and I will never forget him. He kind of reminded me of another server that worked there. Maybe they were brothers or something. He was very energetic and explained all the specials. I asked him what was good and he responded "PF Changs"... which was a little weird. He said he was a little sad his best friend left him. Man they were good buds. He talked about him a lot and I'm starting to think they were way more than "just work friends." I started off with some wings which were great and Jeff recommended I chase them down with a nice tall cold caged alpha monkey. It was like he knew me. Then another dark handsome guy (manager) came over who I'm pretty sure I saw shredding down Bristol mountain earlier in the week. He was very nice though and was making sure I was enjoying my distillery experience. I then ordered the Guinness burger which was cooked to perfection. It must of been Greg on the grill back there. Jeff said Greg is a grill master. After my meal a beautiful lady stopped by to take my coupon. I noticed her earlier when she kept screaming "NEVER BEEN BETTER" to everyone... weird. But she was great. But back to Jeff, what a guy. So nice so funny so informative. There needs to be more Jeff's in this world. Thanks everyone for a great experience.
