My wife has a gluten allergy, which makes eating at football stadiums challenging. So when we booked tickets for Billy Joel, she got to work finding a place with a GF or GS menu that was close to Lucas Oil Stadium. Tavern on South fit that need, and by far exceeded our expectations. When we arrived at 5pm, the place was slammed with a two hour wait. Luckily, we made a reservation, so we got a table right away. Despite the huge crowd, service was fantastic and our server was very attentive. The beer list had some good local options at reasonable prices. The wings were smoked very well and the lemon pepper was a nice flavor. The chicken tacos were nothing special, but it was substantial amount of food for the price and the chips were great. Despite the crowd, we were in and out in 75 minutes. We gave our server a good tip for being so responsive. Would I recommend this for a Thursday romantic date night? Probably not. But, for a spot with reasonably priced food and drinks before or after a game or concert at a stadium, I don't think you could do much better. The atmosphere was also very enjoyable. My wife said women were singing Billy Joel songs in the bathroom. For all these reasons, I think Tavern on South is 5 star worthy. If I ever go to a Colts game, this will be a must-stop.

Went with a group from work. Our server was fantastic! She was very friendly and accommodating. I like the atmosphere and the restaurant vibe. I had the bison burger and fries. It was mediocre. The appetizers were great. We had smoked spinach dip, buffalo cauliflower and the loaded fries. I liked it enough and other meals were enjoyed so I'd return but wouldn't do the Bison.

We stopped in for dinner and drinks here when I arrived in Indianapolis. There is free parking on the side of the building and the decor inside is quite nice. There is also a balcony on the second floor, but it was closed for the evening. Our server was Sean and he did an outstanding job! (The service from the kitchen was a little slow and that was surprising given there were not many people in the place at 8pm. We did the taco salad and the soft tacos. Sean recommended the seasoned pulled chicken over the seasoned chipotle chicken and he was spot on. It was very tasty! I had a cosmo, but I didn't order a second one. It was too sweet for my taste. I switched to a glass of Douglass Hill Cabernet Sauvignon for dinner and it was quite good. We had an enjoyable evening at Tavern on South.

We decided to all go out for lunch to this location since it was quiet during the summer hours. We were seated quickly which was awesome because we had a decent sized group. The menu has a variety of choices which is always nice in my opinion. I decided to go with the 7 field salad, which was a great combo of spinach, goat cheese, cranberry, cherries, spiced nuts, with a raspberry vinaigrette and I added some grilled salmon on top for protein. It was a tasty refreshing, and the perfect amount for lunch. This is a place I would certainly come back to to check out more menu items

Candied bacon is a must. Jalapeño coke slaw had some spice but not over powering. Very good!

We were in town for the Chiefs game. We stopped here the night before to have dinner. Sean was our server and he did a fabulous job. We had the smoked spinach artichoke dip and the chicken poppers for appetizers. My oldest son wanted a bison burger in place of the regular meat patty and my other sons fiancé wanted some fried Onion sprinkle things whatever those toppings are called as they had them on another menu item, put on her burger and neither request could be done for some reason. It was rather quiet that Saturday evening. Food was good. We went back on Sunday before the game and definitely a lot more lively crowd. They were limiting the people in the bar to just those who could sit? They said they didn't want it to get too crowded. We were able to order drinks and take them with us. Solid choice.

I had dinner here recently and really enjoyed it. I was by myself so I had one of the smaller tables in the bar area. The two bartenders were very attentive and refilled my water often. I started with the 7 Field Salad: mixed greens, dried cherries, spiced nuts, carrot, red onion (I held this), goat cheese and cranberry vinaigrette. This was a really tasty salad. Loved all the toppings. Nice tart dressing. For my entrée, I had the Fish & chips: crispy fried whitefish, lime dill tarter sauce, french fries, cole slaw, grilled lemon. The fries was a bit too flaky but it was tasty. I liked the breading on it. The dill tarter sauce was delicious. I dipped my fish and fries in it. Good tasty cole slaw. All my favorite items. Overall a nice dinner. Looks like a fun place to watch a game or just have drinks and food. They seem to have some upstairs outside seating as well.

Went in during a weekday lunch with a group of co-workers. Service was quick and they checked in frequently, it wasn't as busy but still had a decent lunch crowd. I got the beef tip burrito with fries and to my surprise it was really good! A solid lunch place that gets overlooked sometimes but a good place to go during the week day without much of a lunch rush crowd.

Tried this place for a farewell lunch with colleagues! The food is excellent ! I ordered the Mahi Mahi Tacos with fries! I got three street style tacos. The fish was perfectly grilled. The tacos were quite filling. The portion size is good for one person. We ordered fried Buffalo cauliflower for the table ! It super crispy on the outside and tasted very good! Definitely recommend this as a appetizer. This place was 10 min away from my office so was a quick drive. The service was quick and efficient . There's a parking lot right outside the restaurant for customers. We went on a weekday around 11 AM so it wasn't very busy!.

    Burger Week

First trip here was for burger week, but sadly we won't return. The biggest pro is that there is a small parking lot while dining. Once we placed our order, we were informed they were out of the liquor they were promoting, so ordered another. We still ordered the burger week burger, which then came out medium. We asked about the cooking temp, and were informed all burgers are made that way regardless of asking. We were not offered another burger or anything else, even though we did not eat the burger served. We paid our tab, after discussing that that our drinks were rang in at $2 higher each (we were told because we asked for it 'on the rocks' ) than menu price, and left with burger lying on the plate. Service was not attentive (would ask how we were, but no interest in our uneaten food even after asking about cooking temp). Do not recommend unless needing a convenient place to park.

Tavern on South is THE spot to go before Colts and Indy Eleven games. We called on a Saturday afternoon and they let us make a reservation for six for that evening - we were in luck! I'd give it at least an hour and a half to have dinner here. We ordered soft pretzels, cheeseburgers and fries, rigatoni and chicken milanese. The soft pretzels were scrumptious and came with marinara and jalepeno queso fresco - yum! The cheeseburgers were pretty good, but none of us liked the chicken milanese so much. It was too big and we were slightly confused by the French-toast-like breading. However, I LOVED the rigatoni with chicken - it was delicious and we all decided that's what we'd order if we came back. I think the grilled chicken sandwich and pizzas sounded delicious as well. My favorite part about Tavern on South is the second-floor massive outdoor porch. It's a blast when it's warm out and accommodates a lot of people. They also have great cocktails and a fairly large beer/wine menu. Our server was kind and fast, although we didn't see him a ton. Excited to go back before the next game!

    Tavern Duck Wings Parmesan
    Emmy M.

People from my work love to go here because they have a parking lot and they are great about accommodating groups downtown. This past time I had the duck wings, which were delicious - The right combination of spices and crunch. I have never had duck wings before so this is a new experience for me and I was pleasantly surprised. A little more game-y and a different type of meat? I will say they definitely forgot to make them and had to make her really quickly after everyone else was served but that's fine it happens, especially with a group.

    Chandra P.

We met here for a region mixer, because it was a group of 50+ people we occupied the entire second floor. Customer service was really great, the staff on kept the area clean and ensured we all had drinks. The meal options were pre-selected and those options were fairly good (the tomato bisque was excellent.) My only recommendation is that the staff ensure the utensils are clean, several on the table were dirty (we saw forks fall to the ground and a waitress kick the forks under the dessert table.) Aside from the above I thought it was a great location to host a large group gathering.

I liked the added touch of the date night plaque at our table when we arrived. We started with the Evil Jungle Princess (10/10 tiki drink) and the paper bag beer + blind shot pick (gross but kind of fun if you like beer, I think we got a PBR lol). For apps we got the Wagyu pigs in a blanket and the broccoli cheddar soup to share. The piggies were so savory and delicious. For entrees we got the fish and chips and rainbow roll. The fish was perfectly battered and tasted great. The rainbow roll had good flavor but really fell apart immediately. I felt like the presentation could have been improved. They also did not bring out soy sauce with the roll and didn't come even after asking our server for it. Still good flavor to the fish. We finished off the night with the monkey bread (100/10). So sweet and delicious! It came out hot and fresh with a side of ice cream. Definitely sugar overload but totally worth it. And our nightcaps were the Espresso Martini (HAVE to get) and the Campfire Vibes. Both great drinks. Highly recommend this spot for any special night out.

FLAVORFUL RESTAURANT IN A HIP PART OF INDY…read more======================================== My daughter-in-law recommended Bluebeard for dinner on Monday, June 22, 2026. I would have to say this restaurant is my favorite in Indy right now after one meal. Most of the things we shared were amazing and for a complete description please refer to my photo of the menu. We ordered the following: Burrata with Amelia's bread as an appetizer which was delicious. Gem Salad - This was amazing and I could eat it every day of the week. Stacci house made pasta - This was a big hit and I would order this every time. Hanger Steak - My husband, aka the picky eater, loved it. I didn't try it, but everyone seemed to like it. Chicken with a few dumplings - We all loved this. Three desserts to share: a cheesecake with fruit on top, one a bread pudding and a chocolate crisp. I ordered a delicious Monsoon Season cocktail with song cai vietnamese gin, cocchi americano, st. george thai basil eau de vie, elderflower, lemon and basil oil. My son and I also ordered glasses of Port after dinner. The service was great and I loved that they were playing really good rock music like Soundgarden and others. There are lots of antique typewriters above the bar and a cool print of Kurt Vonnegut by the bathrooms. I am looking forward to going again the next time my husband and I are in Indy visiting my son and daughter-in-law unless they move out of state.

Themed around Indy native Kurt Vonnegut, you'll see old typewriters, books, and names of menu items paying tribute to the famous author. The menu feels high class but the atmosphere and wait staff are friendly and welcoming. You could dress up for a special occasion or come in casual every day wear and either fit in just fine. Their ever changing menu featuring local produce and meats is always unique, inventive, and most importantly, delicious. Their cocktail list is one of the best and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had an extensive mocktail list as well. Their sodas and syrups are all house-made which means every drink is full of fresh flavors. I had a lemon pasta dish an my husband ordered the hanger steak. Both were cooked perfectly and composed of flavors and textures that complimented each other perfectly. There's nothing that wouldn't be good on their menu because you can tell the chefs are exceptional as well as the ingredients they choose. I really can't say enough good things about this place, it remains one of my favorite places to enjoy a meal and no matter what I choose, I'm never disappointed.

You order at the front counter then they bring it to our table. The menu can be a little daunting if you aren't sure what you want. I chose a chicken enchilada bowl, but was then told they were out of cheese. Nothing else was jumping out at me, so I just ordered the avocado toast. (see pics) Our food came fairly quickly. I will say, my coworkers' dishes looked good. I was pretty disappointed with my avocado toast. For $9, it was a sinlgle slice of bread, only very lightly toasted. The jammy egg was maybe 1 hard boiled egg, chopped up on top, and it was cold. It did have shredded cheese over it (not sure why that couldn't have been used in my enchilada bowl?) . It also tased like it had a lot of "everything bagel" spices on it, and was overall fairly salty. So it was a little disappoining. And I left hungry. But I wasn't in the mood to order anything else. My coworkers had sweet potato fries (I tried some - really good!), and different bowls that looked good, so I would give them another try sometime, but the avocado toast did not live up to expectations. #ReviewsByRL

Service was fast, food came out quickly, and the portions were perfect for a post-conference bite before dinner. Overall, just a great vibe from start to finish. I'd definitely make a return trip next time I'm in Indianapolis.

My daughter was craving Mexican so this was the place that was within walking distance. She found…read moresomething that she liked on the menu. She had the tacos Americano she got two ground beef and one carnitas. They came with pico de gallo, romaine, sour cream, shredded cheese. She enjoyed them. Didn't I get the level of enjoyment for them, she was able to put down one ground beef and one carnita. I ate the last. Not a big soft taco fan, but interior ingredients were flavorful. I was not a fan of the salsas that I tried. They did send over chips, that were in my opinion. They were crispy. Had no flavor of either salt nor lime on them. Definitely needed salsa, but as I mentioned earlier, the salsas were not very good. Good. I had a roasted red salsa, salsa Verde, plus chili de arbol. None of them, had anything going for them. That was positive. It tasted like it was just the ingredients without seasoning. The salsa Verde tasted like just green tomatoes, and the same for the red. The spicy one, tasted like Tomatoes and spicy peppers. The menu appeared to have a nice variety of different items. I would definitely give them a second chance on something else.

The restaurant features an extensive drink menu that will suite anyone's pallet. We chose to start with the bread service which was killer especially the honey butter. All of the apps look d amazing but went for the dry rub duck wings with home made ranch. My only critic was I wish there were more than 3. Finished off with the shrimp and grits. Although, I wasn't in New Orleans the spiciness took me back there. The wait staff was great. Even though we were late for the reservation we were seated promptly and had multiple people taking care of us. Spoke & Steele is a must if you are staying in the hotel but also if you want a cool vibe for drinks and great food I would stop by and take a look.

The seating? Intimate. The lighting? Soft. The whole space feels like a quiet luxury moment tucked right into the city. Now let's talk about what REALLY matters, the food. The shrimp & grits??? Listen... this wasn't just a dish, this was an EXPERIENCE. The grits were creamy, smooth, and perfectly rich, but that sauce layered on top?? Whew. Flavor on flavor on flavor. You've got that deep, savory, slightly smoky profile with juicy shrimp, sausage, and those pickled onions cutting through everything with the perfect tang. Every bite felt intentional. Like somebody knew what they were doing in that kitchen. And can we talk about how beautiful it was plated?? Because yes, I absolutely appreciated the aesthetics before I even picked up my fork. Paired it with a simple coffee moment, sitting by the window, and honestly... it felt like a reset. Not rushed, not loud, just good food, good atmosphere, and a chance to actually enjoy it. If you're looking for a brunch spot that feels a little more elevated, a little more intentional, and delivers on both flavor and experience. This is it. 10/10. I'll absolutely be back!!!

Our waiter was attentive and efficient. We didn't wait too long for anything except dessert, and our waiter informed us that that would take a little longer because they had just fired more cake. (It was worth it.) The restaurant was spacious, and not too loud, despite the other convention goers and some other business people from the hotel. It was accessible for wheelchairs and service animals. There's both indoor, and some outdoor seating. There was a large area for bigger groups too, inhabited by what looked like a wedding party? Tables, booths, and a bar are the seating options. Dress is casual, although the party was dressed in finer garb. The service workers are in uniform black. The food was excellent. I ordered the wagyu cheeseburger. I thought it a bit pricey at first, but it was worth it. Honestly, it may be the best burger in Indy? It's certainly in the running. The menu is varied with mostly conventional Americana fare. I have not tried anything else on the menu - and the wagyu burger was so good I doubt I'll order anything but that again. I highly recommend Conner's for the food alone. The ambience and service were great too. I will go again soon.

The spicy guac was really tasty and fresh, but not at all spicy in my opinion. The burnt ends had a great sauce on them but were pretty dry. The signature old fashioned was great. And then the espresso martini really lacked. I knew it was going to be bad when it didn't even have any beans on it. Would come back again to try a full meal and some different drinks
