Another family came in, got seated, waitress took their drink and app orders, which they recieved and we still hadn't seen a waitress. Absolutely NO ONE ELSE was seated in this area. After about 15 mins, we walked up to leave, and on our way out, asked for a manager. This unkept looking woman came up, and just looked at me. No one wanted to give names. I told her we never got waited on and she just said 'ok, sure you dont wanna sit' (twice). I said No thank you, and we left. It was CLEAR we were not welcomed there as a lesbian couple. The restaurant smelled so bad like sewage but the staff pretended like they couldn't smell it. Every customer coming in complained about the smell. The kitchen blared rap music the whole time. Wow what a cool joint to hang at and the only disappointment was it was my first visit! Where has this gem been for the past 33 years that I've been an Ohio resident. Lived in Fairborn for the first 8 yrs and was never intro'd to this place. If you're a fan of Key West or the tropics this is a must stop. Started with the hush puppy apps and downing them with Landshark Lager was a perfect match. Off to the build your own pasta and I ordered Linguini with blackened shrimp. I am real particular about shrimp and these were big and tasty . She had the Crab Legs and although they weren't the meatiest they got the job done. If you order another pound they charge you $1 less without the salad and potato. Just pay the extra $1 so you get everything. If we didn't live so far away we'd be here all the time. It has been a few years since we visited. I had been thinking about The Dock and decided to visit. They weren't that busy, no wait on a Saturday night. My husband and I both ordered the stuffed salmon. I had ordered the salad with peppercorn ranch ( hard to find and I adore it). The baked potatoes our daughter, my husband and I all received were extremely over cooked. My husband ate some of his, our daughter asked for a new one, and I just ordered fries. I was disappointed. I felt eh. When we were being seated, I asked for a larger table, I was told no, we need those for larger groups, again very few people were there. The room we were in, had three tables, very cold. I understand the area where the band was, much warmer than the inside room where we were seated. I guess it will be a while longer before we return. read more

This restaurant was just "OKAY" the service was good, no complaint there. However, the moment you walk into the restaurant, the whole restaurant was consumed with a very unpleasant odor. Really could not identify if it was a combination of fish and bleach or some other type of cleaning agent. It was however a very unpleasant odor. The food, salad was good, the menu listed a fish as a poor man grouper. That fish being swai. I had no idea what swai fish was. Went home looked it up. It is a farmed raised catfish from Vietnam. Very cheap and often substituted or fraudulently sold as flounder, grouper, and sole. Raised in polluted waters and fed antibiotics to control disease. The Dock did state that you were eating swai so no fraud there, but after researching the fish itself, I will never eat it again. read more

First time to visit this establishment. When walking in the front door, I was overwhelmed by a strong sewage smell. Not seafood, but sewage. Making our way to the bar, with a cool beach vibe, we waited quite a while to get our drink order taken by the unfriendly bartender who had absolutely no personality. Our food order was ok. There was a musician playing a nice selection of songs. Very surprised to see that he's been playing there since 1994, and for free since the pandemic, now receiving only tips. Food was decent but the flies are terrible. My wife and I ate there today. The service was slow, but accurate and friendly. Food was OK, but nothing special. The thing that really bothered us though we're the incessant flies that were everywhere. There is no air-conditioning so they had large open windows without any screens -- it was still hot and humid inside. This turned the meal from what could have been OK to pretty disgusting. We will not be back. Update: Although my wife and I both had what was listed as Grouper on the menu, the receipt listed the meals as Swai -- l looked it up on Google and it said that Swai is a cheaper fish often imported from Vietnam. my friend and I went here for the first time for dinner. We had to wait for over 10 minutes to get seated. The restaurant was empty but we were seated way in the back alone. The decorations were odd. A trop pond, fireplace and tables and chairs like a cafeteria. Our table was dirty and stick. We waited another 15 minutes for the server to come. We had pulled over an additional chair to put our purses on because the floor was so dirty. After years of owning a prestige dining card I finally talked my husband into trying out this restaurant. For some reason I always find myself attractive to the beach laidback atmosphere. This place so rocks that. I really enjoyed all the incorporated decorations. It made me feel like I was close to the beach. They even have live music, which was the height of our night. The food was good, not outstanding. I ordered the Alaskan Snow Crab. It was supposed to be 1 lb. but after all the work I probably ate only 1/4 meat. Most of the legs were lacking meat. I actually cracked one leg that had NO meat. So for me, it was not work the $26. My husband had the deep fried seafood platter. It included shrimp, clams, grouper and onion rings. It was delicious!! The deep fry taste does get a little old, but still the taste was outstanding. I would highly recommend. Overall we really enjoyed this restaurant. We will definitely be back in the next time we visit that area. I would recommend anyone who love seafood and a laidback Jimmy Buffet vide to take the time to try this place. read more

My wife and I hadn't been here in 20 years, since our senior homecoming lol. When we pulled in the parking lot was packed, and to our surprise when we walked in we were seated immediately. I hate to only give 4 stars because despite one issue it would have been a solid 5. We were delighted to sit outside next to the gorgeous and well groomed gardens and koi ponds. Our waiter promptly visited us and we ordered cocktails which were perfectly made. We then ordered appetizers - the crab dip special and the raw oysters on the half shell. I knew as soon as I saw the oysters that they were not as fresh as I would like. Wrestling them from their shell and tasting them further proved that. I should have asked. They were edible but not as enjoyable as they could have been. On the other hand the crab dip was plentiful and delightful. We ordered our entrees- the seared scallops and the fried platter. Both were amazing. I was asked about the oysters and I advised they were not that fresh but I am unsure what could have been done at that point. Excellent food, excellent service, and I like the decor. It's funky and festive! We've taken some family and friends there and they have loved it, too! I particularly like the "boat-house" area, but each room you eat in offers something special. In the summer, there is the outdoor dining area, which is really nice, too. It's a pleasant spot to have some decent seafood. Not great or fancy, but very laid back. The mini dock salad is good, I prefer something besides iceberg, but they make it a little interesting. Saw a review that said the charbroiled oysters were the best someone ever had. Well I'd hate to see what the worst they had were because these were disgusting. Moving forward thought well the whole meal can't be this bad... I was wrong the veggies were microwaved the ribeye was cold and the service just seemed overwhelmed. When I left a review on Facebook and then commented on another similar review, the dock responded "thanks for not coming back" and that sums up their customer service. Here's my review: One of the worst dinning experiences ever. The Dock in enon Ohio. I paid $35 for four small crab legs, a small fatty steak, a cold baked potato and one beer. My wife got 3 tiny burned crab cakes and fries for $17.99. And my child (9yo) got a small portion of fries and THREE fried shrimp ( the kind of breaded shrimp you buy frozen at Kroger for 5.00 a pound.... I thought they would be big prawn size or extra large but nope.... 3 tiny breaded shrimp) and her meal was 6.99! Now, along with my wife's one glass of wine and a sliver of chocolate cake for my daughter my bill was over $84. Well, that is about what we expected to spend.... however, we are now sitting at our table waiting for my card and discussing where to go eat because ALL THREE of us are STILL very very hungry! (I wish we had taken pictures of this ridiculously small portions they gave us. It was shockingly absurd). And, besides the small portions; the waitress seemed indifferent to our very existence, she vaguely answered questions about the menu, only checking on us one time, and we had to ask a few times if she would bring us rolls like all other guests were given as they were seated. And, the food was not only small, but cold, overpriced and tasted mediocre at best! If I could give it zero stars I would! Oh, and we even called ahead for reservations but still waited over 15 minutes while they seated several walk ins ahead of us. I wish I could think of something positive to say, but all this place has to offer is overpriced small portions of deep fried bar food they disguise as "seafood", served by incompetent staff. Wow, I can't say enough good things about this place and I wish I could give more than 5 stars. EVERYTHING was amazing, the ambience, the service, the food, the drinks. The place just looks really cool from the outside, almost like an actual dock (hence the name). Make sure that you sit in the actual boathouse, even if you have to wait for a table, trust me it's worth it. They have specials ALL the time, and they are pretty good ones too. I had a margarita for only $2, a damn good margarita. Everyone at my table ordered a different thing off the menu, and everyone said it was the best of that item they had ever had. I got the porkchops (I don't like seafood), and they were amazing. best pork chops ever. The salad was great, the bread was great, everything was just spot on. Our server had stuff out to us before we even had to ask. and she was so nice too. There's a covered, heated smoking area in the winter if that's your thing. It seemed like it was mostly Enon locals there, but it was a pretty fun, rambunctious crowd. On the weekends they have a guy there playing a guitar or something, but we went on a weeknight and didn't get to experience that. read more

This place is such a disappointment. And, such a bummer that it is so. They've got some essential makings for a great experience, particularly their atmosphere. In little 'ol Enon, Ohio, walking into The Dock quickly transports one into a completely different time and space. The setting is consistent with a tropical location, and arouses many of the same sensations: anticipation, enthusiasm, relaxed, fun, happy, joyous... Unfortunately, it doesn't last long and gets replaced with tremendous frustration and disappointment. I would imagine the frustration and disappointment may not be as significant if at the outset the anticipation weren't so awakened to then be in stark contrast with the ultimate overall experience. Dunno. The gist is that the food is inconsistent. We've had some parts of good meals - the "first course" house salad and dressing is really good. There have also been times the baked potatoes are fluffy and hot. The fish and seafood is too hit or miss. There needs to be a consistency in quality and temperatures. Ditto, bread. Is it worth having someone write an unfavorable review that was driven, in part, by bread that was served yet stale. I'd think bread a low enough food cost to warrant starting a new day/shift by ensuring fresh bread v. what was perceivably saved from the night before. The other big issues is service. Geez Louise. You've got a great atmosphere, and inconsistent food. At least get representatives that are genuinely interested in their customers' experience and who are not defensive. I know as patrons we can overlook a lot if the server or other representatives of an organization are sincerely interested in understanding the guest experience (v. the server or representatives perception of what THEY thing the guest's experience is) and making attempt to acknowledge/correct. Perhaps we'll try again. It won't be for a while, but I'd like to hope there's a chance someone gives a rip and The Dock can turn things around. Again, that great atmosphere... read more

Reserved the patio for a large group a week ago and the Dock knocked one out of the park. The service was on top of things. I was basically handed my drink as I walked in the door. They were able to accommodate a group of 50-60 people with no problems. The food was roughly excellent. Lasagna was almost as good as my Italian mother's. I went back for more. Pulled pork was tasty. Stir-fry was a decent option for the vegetarians in the group. The meal was followed with a yummy brownie. Cost was around $17.00 per person. If you've never been to the dock, it's basically a residence converted into a restaurant. Some dining rooms look very similar to a living room, Florida room, etc. I think the addition of the patio has probably set this place apart from the lingering opinions of yore. The patio really is cool. Decked out with nautical trinkets, a cute fountain, and strings of lights that can be found just about everywhere. This makes the dock a unique experience in an otherwise sleepy town. Out back there is a duck pond where a few feathered friends reside. I definitely will return next time I'm in Enon. read more

While this reminded us of the tacky hole in the corny wall places in the Keys that are astoundingly awesome in tackiness - yes that's a bonus, so i gets a second star - it certainly left a lot of be desired on the plate. We live in Enon, so we're right down the street. We moved here a couple years ago, family is from here so we have seen the packed parking lot for years. We assumed it was a decent place, since it seemed to be packed day in and day out. All the locals we talked to all said "meh, overpriced, not worth it." We went anyway. We're cool like that. What it actually is is the only place in town for people under age 80 who are still in possession of their own teeth and don't know any better. Overall it's just as everyone said, overpriced, and left us under impressed. I mean don't get me wrong, we're not cheap. We don't mind paying if the food is worth it. $120 Tasting menu at Emerils in Vegas? Bring it! But then a 3 buck taco from a truck can make me sing opera too, so see - I'm not picky, just jaded. ;) But - if you get me to pay $23 for a fish filet it had better rock my world and call me in the morning. Curl my toes. Something. It was pretty... ordinary. Completely meh. I have mentioned elsewhere I'm a seafood fan. We plan trips around seafood. When the good places go out of business we mourn for years (I'm looking at you Shells!) I don't understand where people get off calling it superb, but I find most don't know a good what a good Mexican place is either around here, but i digress... I have gone to the dock three times. Each time the quality of food and service has deteriorated. While the atmosphere remains great, the food is getting bad. If you can't serve oysters because they are warm, then don't offer to serve raw oysters! I saw the owner get prompt and consistent service throughout his and his wife's meal. We had a party of six and barely got any service maintenance. We had to go get the server multiple times in order to maintain our drinks. I urge you to steer clear until they overall the waitstaff. read more

Couldn't have had a worse experience here. Came for the Louisiana Boil. When it came out, an hour later, the 12 crawfish were replaced with three shrimp. I was never told they were out of crawfish until the moment they put the boil in front of me. I ordered this specifically for the crawfish. When I asked the waitress why I wasn't told she didn't say anything. I went in to talk to the manager about the issue and he said, "Three shrimp equals 12 crawfish. Shrimp are expensive." Love the dock and it's atmosphere! They have great seafood and desserts! I love the different vinaigrettes they have on special every week. I have tried their steamed oysters, pan seared seafood combo, crab legs, and their Reese's pie! All very good! They have a great selection of wines and beers along with a full bar. The boat house can be a little warm in the summer but they have live music some nights and they have air conditioned seating inside the main restaurant. People in Ohio must not travel much to know the difference in the quality of seafood. Everybody was raving how great this place is. So I went with a friend to try it out. The atmosphere is nice and reminds of the restraunts that you find down in Florida. The menu has tons to choose from (price was out of my range). Service was very slow. When the food arrived we were starving. The food was blan, lukewarm, and rubbery. The crab legs where cold and not cooked long enough. Could not break the legs like you are suppose to because of this. Very disappointed. The price for the food was not worth the quality. I should of know better. I have yet to find a good seafood restraurant in Ohio. I have traveled all across the U.S. and enjoy trying the local restraurants, especially seafood. I enjoy going to Florida because of the awesome seafood restraunants and to get some good crab legs. So a couple of months have passed and I was roped into meeting some friends at The Dock for dinner. I was not looking forward to it since my last experience was not the greatest. I ordered the seafood sampler platter so I can try a little bit of everything. The results where the same as last visit. Very disappointed. The service was just as slow as before. Drinks remained empty. Went with a group of about six people and out of the six people the only person who enjoyed their meal was the one that ordered chicken fingers. Again I don't know why people enjoy this place so much because for me and others it is not for the food. It must be for the atmosphere? If you want quailty seafood this is not the place to go. You will be better off getting a better seafood meal at McDonalds ordering a McFish sandwich. read more
