Okay... I'm still thinking about this meal like it personally changed my life a little bit. I had the haddock and WOW. The batter was that perfect golden crisp where every bite had that little crunch, but the fish itself was flaky and melt-in-your-mouth soft. You know when something is fried just right and not heavy or greasy at all? That. And the tartar sauce?? Not your average situation. It had this fresh, almost elevated flavor that made everything even better. I was literally dipping every last bite like I didn't trust the plate not to disappear. But honestly, what made it even more special was the people. Every single staff member was so kind and welcoming, and the chef actually came out to talk with us. I got to thank him personally for making me such an amazing gluten-free meal, which meant a lot because that's not always easy to find. When the food is so good you forget to take pictures...let's start with the space. It's small but never overcrowded. The owner takes time away from the kitchen to talk his guests like family. In a small town, you can tell the vibe is just that - they all know each other. We had a large group celebrating Mother's Day and between us I think we had 7 different menu items. The rib platter and grouper were among those and a "first come first serve" dish. You can tell they go fast and my husband got the last rib platter. They were juicy and full of that great smoke flavor you want to have. I had the fish and chips, an easy favorite it was cooked perfect with no fry oil leaking off the fish and the taste of cornmeal taking front and center. My teenagers had the grilled chicken sandwich and a cheeseburger. Both exceptional. In our family, we tend to share like it was all one table meal anyways so it was great to see not one dish we had wasn't worth the trip there. It's my Mother-In-Law's favorite local restaurant so to get in (no reservations needed), sit down and have a great meal was awesome. Now; they do have signs about not hanging around too long because of how busy they stay so if you are one that likes to digest their meal for awhile at the restaurant, you may not be able to depending on the crowd. haven't tried any of their seafood because I'm not a fan of seafood, but I got their patty melt it was really good and fresh. It was a little heavy on the sauce so it made for a messy burger, but the taste was really good. This was a to-go order so I can't really comment on the inside of the restaurant itself. Great new place! Friendly, smiling wait staff, food was pretty quick out of the kitchen, hot and perfect. Portion was huge. And everything was yummy. Easy to get to from and to return to US 68/ South Main. As you might guess from the name of the place, it mostly serves "seafood". There is salmon, haddock, and shrimp. For those who do not like fish (What is *wrong*with you??), a burger is available. For those if you with allergies, the shrimp and the fish are fried separately. The least expensive menu item is $9. The most expensive is $14. For most people, this is quite reasonable. I had the haddock sandwich. The huge filet stuck way out of the bun. It wasn't some little fish square! As I said, hot, crispy, and delicious. The fish was mild without being tasteless, and fried perfectly. HIGHLY recommended! read more
