I think the burger should be cheaper as it's just a flat frozen patty and not authentic beef, it also doesn't really make sense to do the sides (onion rings) separate, a bit too proud for a burger I wouldn't even feed a stray. As for the fish it's pretty good, keeping the rating at 3 instead of 1 as they're obviously not known for their burgers and just their fish. read more

I worked here in high school as a waitress. Not much has changed except for the pricing. It's a small building near the corner by the only traffic light in Seven Points. You seat yourself and are served drinks out of huge pitchers. That was a change from the regular cups we used back in the day. I liked that we were not always waiting for a refill. The portions are no where near as large as you'd expect for the price. The tartar sauce and coleslaw were the exact same recipes from way back when. Both were very good! The cocktail sauce was never my favorite, and that had not changed either. The fried catfish and shrimp were good! The catfish are in small chunks, not strips or filets. The hush puppies are also the same as they were back in the day. Still super good with a bite of jalapeño and corn throughout the batter. The only thing that would keep us from coming back is the price. Two catfish plates (5-7 chunks of catfish, a baked potato, and coleslaw) and two kids meals cost us around $78 before the tip. read more

I would love to have had the opportunity to try the food at this place, but unfortunately, we didn't even get far enough in the experience to tell about it. My family and I walked in to eat around 1:45pm on a Saturday, and it was completely empty. We were already excited to feel the cool climate inside, getting a small escape from the Texas heat! However, as we walked in, we weren't greeted by anyone.. not a, "sit where ever you'd like", or a "welcome in", or a simple, "we will be right with you". NOTHING. Seemed as though we were being plainly ignored. What really caused an issue for me, was that my mother said hello to one of the waitresses as we walked to a table, and even my wife noticed that the waitress blatantly ignored her. We sat for an additional few minutes, and never had anyone say a word to us. I'd hate to make an assumption as to why this occurred...but we've had our share of discriminatory experiences here in town. It's sad, but there are far more friendly, inviting folks here. We left and went to Chilis, where they greeted and held the door for us. I circle around reviewing places near the lake for Facebook as well, and I was hoping to give this place a nice review and business, but it did not happen. I really like this place, they have awesome hushpuppies with onions and jalapenos inside and homemade tarter and cocktail sauce that I could eat by itself. Their catfish is a must here it has a nice crispy cornmeal crust with a hot tender inside. The spicy shrimp is good also however the butterfly shrimp is a little too thick for me. Catfish Corner is the real deal. The catfish is seasoned with just the right amount of cornmeal breading to bite into. You can't go wrong ordering their fried catfish. Then they provide homemade tartar sauce and cocktail sauce that you'd like to buy to take home. Their coleslaw appears to be made part order but i figured that's not true but it sure taste like it. So fresh and crunchy. Then the hushpupies got a great kick to them with chunks of jalepeno. They too are made in house as you can clearly see every ingredient inside freshly rolled in. They have the best catfish around, the recipe my dad used to make. Always crispy and fresh. The hush puppies have a kick to them, and coleslaw is always fresh and delicious. And I love how the iced tea is served in a picture! Because I can put away the iced tea. Sometimes they get busy, but if you're in that big a hurry, maybe you should go somewhere else. Sweet tea and fried shrimp... best "after fishing meal" you could ask for. We highly recommend their fried shrimp, hushpuppies and onion rings. Our fried okra and French fries we ordered yesterday needed to be cooked quite a bit longer, as they were not crispy or fried long enough. The hushpuppies are really good and have a little kick to them. May be the best surprise in the area. I'd recommend getting there early as they get quite busy. The sampler appetizer is enough for four people. If you like grilled fish but don't usually go for catfish, this is the place to take a chance on. If you like fried squash, their's does not disappoint. The service was average (the servers tip was not gauged on the quality of the food, she was left a good tip). To be fair, she was real busy. So let's continue..cole slaw--average and not cold, hush puppies--mushy and the insides were..gray?...the catfish ....ummm, well, it tasted fishy, no pun intended, and the onion rings, were average. This is a real hole in the wall but best catfish for miles, and their hushpuppies are out of this world. Great ice cold, sweet cole slaw. The complimentary, homemade hushpuppies are the best I've even had, hands down! I also love the homemade tartar sauce they bring you a jug of so much, I would probably eat it with a spoon if I could. If you are getting fries, they have 2 types: regular food-service kind, and "real-cut" fries that are actually like homemade fries that are thick-cut with the skins on. But they don't have that advertised on the menu, so you have to ask for them special. We drive about 50 miles to come here. The place is a total dump looks-wise, but don't let that turn you off. We always get the fried catfish, and it is tasty and fresh. I've never had anything else on the menu, but why would you go to a restaurant called "Catfish Corner" and not eat the catfish? The have weird hours, and are closed Mondays through Wednesdays. They close early, so call before you go. read more

We passed by this restaurant for a number of years, outside is not very impressive. We finally did stop and have been eating here about once a week for the last 3 years. We have tried quite a few items, all really good, but keep returning to the catfish, grilled or fried....excellent! The staff is friendly and the service is very good.
