We liked food and drinks just fine both times we went but cleanliness is an issue at this location.

Food is good have not tried cocktails. It does have a large well stocked bar. Fried mushrooms were good as well as patty melt.

Waited a hour for tacos. Food was slow and the waiters was nice enough, not worth the wait at 2 all the way to3 something.

Our app came quickly but the drinks and food came so slowly. Also between us asking for waters while we look at the cocktail menu was a lot of elapsed time. Food: the steak frites were very salty (and I love salt) but definitely the best meal ordered. The "Mac attack" tasted cheeseless -- literally tasted like water. The chicken Alfredo was "mid" but also a super tiny portion. Both pastas looked like kids meals. I guess they were priced appropriately at least. Not pictured was the Donny burger -- described as "eh it was fine". All left more to be desired. We really wanted to try the cinnamon cake but decided against since service was sooooo slow. The peach tea was bad. The oasis marg was okay. When we asked for wine, we were told "I don't know what we have let me show you" and were shown the screen that listed: white, red, rose, and sparkling. The wine should be listed on the menu with the beer and the cocktails. I'd maybe come again to sit at the bar and have a drink or two if there's live music, but otherwise, this is skippable for a full meal service.

I had the carbonara, and honestly, it was almost too pretty to eat. The service was a little slow, but it actually gave us time to soak in the atmosphere and admire how beautiful the restaurant is inside. The vibe? Absolutely check. The cocktails were not our favorite, but that definitely won't stop us from coming back to try other drinks on the menu. What makes this place even more special is that it's a true mom-and-pop restaurant sourcing food locally. You really can't beat that. Supporting local while getting an amazing meal is always a win.

Pink and honest in the middle, warm and willing, bread holding it all together like a good road holding a long drive. Nothing flashy, nothing trying too hard just flavor that knew where it came from and didn't apologize. The arugula salad came sharp and clean, green with intent, that bitter edge that wakes you up a little and reminds you you're still alive. It wasn't there to impress you. It was there to balance things out, like a deep breath between sentences. I drank Earl Grey tea, steam rising slow, bergamot drifting up like memory, like train smoke somewhere far off. It felt right. The kind of tea you drink when you're not rushing anywhere, when the world can spin without you for a moment and that's okay. Fern in the Wild isn't trying to reinvent eating. It's doing something better. It's paying attention. To ingredients. To pace. To the quiet pleasure of a meal done right. I left feeling fed in more ways than one--like I'd stopped long enough to hear myself think. That's rare. That's worth something. I'll be back.

Very secluded feeling, & safe Food: I got the smash burger with fries, she got the fish tacos, that came with chips and salsa. Both were delicious! The meat on the burger could've used extra salt though lol Prices: $10-25. The burger had 2 patties on it, & it was $16, so well worth the price. You do get quite a bit of food for your buck, from what I noticed looking at other plates Ambiance: we sat on the patio, overlooking the lake. It was very nice, & relaxing. The bar inside had tables available, but it was pretty lively in there lol a group was playing music in the corner, & it was getting crowded by the time we left. A good spot to grab a drink apparently. The clubhouse was very nice though. Very clean, & relatively fancy feeling. Service: we had a great waitress, & food came out within 15 minutes Will definitely be going back

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at 501, and it's definitely worth checking out. The atmosphere was perfect, and our server, Robert Campbell, was outstanding. He was friendly, attentive, and knew the menu very well. We started with the house salad and split the blackened chicken fettuccine with added shrimp -- absolutely delicious. And the dirty martini was made perfectly. We truly enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend 501 to anyone living in the Heath or Rockwall area looking for a great dining experience.

This is the perfect place to relax after a day on the lake. The food came out fast and hot. We ordered the mozzarella sticks, chicken tender basket, and shrimp basket. While there, I overheard a young woman who was "head cook" having a conversation about a disagreement with a customer. She stated that she disliked the customer and claimed that she had "handled it" by putting something in their food and spitting in it. After hearing this, I immediately left because I was extremely uncomfortable and concerned about the safety and standards of this establishment. If this statement was true, it is completely unacceptable and should be taken seriously. Anyone working in the food industry, especially someone in a leadership position such as a manager or head cook, should understand the responsibility they have when handling customers' food. I will not be returning to this establishment while this type of behavior is happening. I strongly encourage the owners to look into what is going on because this is not only unprofessional, but it could also put customers at risk. Better training, better hiring decisions, and higher standards are needed. No customer should have to question whether their food is being prepared with care and respect.
