Friend: "Why would you walk in the snow just for free food...see not worth getting sick" Me: "I'm going to the doctor's office" Friend: "Not worth getting sick just to see the doctor" Me: "Lmaooo I am talking about [this place, the speakeasy bar]" Amazing speakeasy that is somewhat of a hidden gem! Reservations can be a bit tough (usually booked a few days to a week in advance for popular times, especially for the 2 hr reservations which has the same deposit) and booking through Tock means you are guaranteed to spend a minimum of $25 per person (including gratuity). Note their 20% gratuity is 20% of the deposit allocated to tips, so per person, $20 goes towards the bill and $5 goes towards gratuity. The cocktails here are strong and are on the expensive side, so it is not a challenge to hit that minimum spend. We made a 2 hr reservation for 4 people for 5:30pm and got seated at a nice table which has hand sanitizer, 2 jugs of water, and 4 empty wine glasses. Once our complete party is seated, we were treated with hot towels (as it was snowing and below freezing outside, this was very nice) and a small tasting of champagne! The server is also quite friendly as he likes talking to people but also ensures we have our own conversations too. We tried the Big Board charcuterie (no menu prices, $39) which has olives, almonds, rosemary crackers, and a selection of cheese and charcuterie. I liked the mole pepperoni as it has a great fusion of flavors. Note this is the only food they serve, and it was a good call that we only ordered one instead of two, per the server's recommendation, as the portions are huge. I personally tried the Keeping the Stars Apart drink and the drink is wonderfully made. It was also quite strong. Despite a more scotch forward drink, as opposed to fruity, the drink is still aesthetic with a flower garnish. I also sampled my friend's drink, Salvador Dali Lama, which has a nice spicy kick to it, as well as the Rocky's Stinger, which is very strong and kind of like cough medicine. A big plus is all these drinks do not have ice to dilute the true flavors, so you are getting your money's worth. Like the doctor, the menu is very prescriptive but also leaves a little room for fun. They have a "doctor's prescription" where you tell them your preferences and they make a bespoke cocktail for you, but we opted out of that as the cocktails in the menu cater to us quite well already. They specifically indicate a standard drink is around 14g and they label each drink with the amount of alcohol in it to make sure you drink responsibly. Most drinks are at least 2 standard drinks. Don't forget to make a visit to the bathroom, even if you do not need to, because it is well decorated! There are orange polka dots in a white wall, drawing inspirations from Yayoi Kusama! I unabashedly took bathroom selfies because it is very pretty. The Doctor's Office: Where Big Brother is Watching (and Listening) Sharing a recent experience that should be reviewed before visiting. I have visited this bar half a dozen times and spent a decent amount of money here. Following my last visit, I abruptly received an email from the owner, who I've never met, banning me from returning. His reason? He claimed to have received a complaint that a conversation between my friend and I made another guest uncomfortable during my last visit, and corroborated the allegations by claiming to review security tapes and listen to my conversation from that day. This took me by surprise because the allegations about me are not true and it makes me uncomfortable to hear that the owner claimed to have listened to my conversations using "security tapes". Nobody confronted me during my time at the bar or made me aware that they were uncomfortable, so all of this feels off. The bottom line: If you want a good cocktail, there are plenty of other great options available to you in Seattle that are also cheaper, offer a less pretentious environment, and won't treat you the way I have been treated. Additionally, the staff aren't particularly friendly and most of the cocktails on the menu are pre-made in batch with high amounts of sugar. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. read more

We were welcomed by fresh warm towels, followed by a complimentary glass of champagne. You can get a 'dr's prescription' aka custom drink based on your preferences. This place is special not only because of their good drinks, but the entire concept of a bar. Fantastic small bar that reminds me of the tiny bars in Golden Gai in Tokyo or in SE Asia. When I mean small, we are talking about 8 seats at the bar and couple of seating areas behind it. In the small space, they managed to squeeze in a great selection of bottles with a strong emphasis on whiskeys. They also have a short cocktail menu including some pre-made classics in vials. But their specialty would be bespoke cocktail and recommendations that are very well-matched to one's likes and dislikes. The other thing that is awesome is the service - there is a complimentary pour of French champagne (Laurent-Perrier!) and warm hand towels. Definitely not your typical bar experience! As for my drink orders, I started off with an old fashioned made with an aged genever, which was perfectly balanced and not too sweet. Next, I tried one of the vials of Manhattan, which was perfect as well. I ended with the "Doctor's Prescription" which was Manhattan variation which included Cointreau, and is something I would definitely order again. There is also a small kitchen and they had a nice selection of skewers. Loved the grilled haloumi as well as the short rib. Definitely check out the restroom as well with its Toto washlet and wall paper that looks like it was done by Kusama Yayoi. Overall, the Doctor's Office is an awesome newish- bar that really elevates the personlized experience with great food, drinks and service - just be sure to make a reservation as space is extremely limited. read more

This was a little bizarre. The decor and the ambience is amazing. The drinks are pretty good, but unfortunately they don't serve any food. The pictures on Yelp are back from the day when they used to have food. So you just sit there for 1 to 2 hours and do drinks one after another made to the doctor's orders. Service was good. The only annoying part is that you pay to have a reservation fee to "get the appointment" and then pay again for your entire tab. So the reservation fee wasn't deducted from it?? How bizarre? The prescription from the doctors office is to enroll in Alcoholics Anonymous. read more

Ok these people know how to do cocktails! Excellent drinks, food and service throughout the whole night. You are presented with some champagne as soon as you sit down and the whole night is like you are at a good friend's house. I am a huge fan of mezcal and was pleased to see an extensive mezcal list, along with every other liquor. The bartender gave two excellent mezcal taste recommendations. I then asked for a spicy dry mezcal drink (with the Rey Camparo Mexicano I tasted which was so good) and he delivered one of my favorite mezcal cocktails. We also ordered their skewers ("dinner is served" to get 2 of each on the menu). It won't disappoint. Everything was delicious but my favorites were the Panise (squash dish that is full of different flavors), carrots, and the pork belly. By far the fanciest bar I've ever been to. A discreet, almost hidden bar that fits a mere 12 customers at a time. We made a reservation ahead of time for $25 a person that went towards drink credit. Drinks ranged from $18-25 and were mixed by one very capable bartender. We came here on a Sat night with high hopes and left really disappointed in the entire experience. Our experience was very similar to Sarah G. Our group of 5 chose "The Doctor's Prescription" in which you tell the bartender your likes and dislikes and they craft you a drink. In previous bars I've gone to, they'll ask you what spirit you like, if you like it sweet or dry, etc etc. Here we first got chided when 4 of us requested the Doctor's Prescription because it would take a long time to make. We said that was fine and we could have that be our 2nd round of drinks. My wife started ordering first and said she wanted something with rum that was refreshing. The bartender looked at her as if she was an idiot and said "that's it? rum? ok..." We were a bit taken aback by his rudeness. I was up next and said I wanted something smokey, either whiskey or scotch. He looked at me and said "ok scotch. That's it?" and moved on. The rest of the group had fairly similar experiences. For our first round, we settled on cocktails from their menu and it was a bit odd that everything came premade in small containers. This place isn't cheap and I expected the bartenders to make our drinks in person. The only drink that didn't come from a bottle was the TDO Spanish Coffee. Finally when it came down to pay, the bartender gave us the bill a few mins after our last drink came out and said we have 3 minutes left. I guess that's our bad that we didn't realize the reservation ended exactly at 9pm, but we had 3 mins to pound our drinks before we were rudely ushered out. To their credit, the drinks were fairly good. But it almost didn't matter because the service left such a bad taste in our mouths. It also depends on which bartender you get. There was a couple across from us who was serviced by a different bartender and they looked like they were having a great experience. My reaction was HUH?! Don't you go create something once knowing what I like?! I then described that I was ok with fruity, floral, not too sweet and not too herbaceous or licorice flavors. My cocktail arrived and I might as well have ordered Mucinex cough syrup blech! We then ordered one of their regular drinks on the menu and I recall not hearing any shakers or stirring (it's a small bar, you can literally see everything!). The bartender came over and poured our drinks out of pre-made batched cocktail bottles he took out of their fridge. Like really?! I don't want a premise cocktail for the prices I'm paying, ridiculous! Later on we started talking to some regulars who loved the bartender and they recommended a couple of drinks for us. We tried to order but alas, they had run out of ice so they could only do neat cocktails and champagne for the rest of the night. They only take reservations and they have limited seating...how do you not order enough ice?!?! Finally, it was nearing closing time. The lights flicked on (gave us quite a start as the bar is so dark) and we heard "now everyone get the f**k out!". My friend and I were appalled so we grabbed our coats and left. Our bill was prepaid and even that was confusing. Needless to say it's probably the worst bar experience I've ever had, service-wise and cocktails wise and don't understand the hype. I was greeted at the bar with a warm hand towel to clean my hands and a dainty coupe of Perrier-Jouet champagne to sip while I perused the menu which was in a manila file folder no different than what your chart might be at in a traditional doctors office. There were several traditional cocktails to choose from a gin or vodka Martini, or a Vesper if that's more your style, a Negroni, a Manhattan and a Stinger, a tribute to their good friend Rockey Yeh who was a giant in the industry and recently passed . The food selection consisted of a several meat and vegetable skewers and for those that can't decide you could get an assortment of the meat skewers or the veggie skewers. I had the Manhattan. It came out in a glass beaker. It was served in a chilled glass. What was left was stored in the freezer while I sipped on my cocktail. My Manhattan was well balanced and the skewers were delicious. My favorite skewer being the al pastor pork skewer with pineapple glaze. The space beautiful with lots of wood, dim lighting, and beautiful glassware. Went there on a date night after driving past this place many times and was curious to see what was inside. It's a very tiny establishment so reservations are a must. We get inside and greeted by the one and only bartender who shows us our table. Besides us, there are maybe 10 other customers inside, which maxed out the seating. The bartender I think was stressed about serving all the guests alone (and running the food) that our experience felt rushed. Rushed in the sense that we did not get to chat with the bartender about the drinks and whatnot. I assumed that since it's a smaller spot, the vibe is a bit more intimate and laid back. So that vibe was definitely not there. The other thing was they have a set menu of cocktails, some prebatched, which were good. I tried one and it was tasty but what I really just wanted was a Manhattan. I ordered one, it tasted delicious so I ordered two more. When the bill came, the manhattans were billed as a custom drink and those are $20 each. Outrageously expensive for a standard bar cocktail. All in all for a few drinks and some skewers, our tab was $180. In my opinion, not really worth it. read more

This place is giving you the customized, intimate, private bar experience. What grabbed my attention is the story and brand identity behind the bar. Everything is stunning and on-brand even with the drink presentation. The drinks were all amazing. The taste of alcohol is heavy and passionated mixing a lot of different fragrance ingredients. They all together created the full senses drinks. The place is tiny with limited seats. I recommend to reserve a table on their website. They ask for a reservation fee which will go back to your total bill. The owner is super nice. We've been here multiple times. We had a 1 hr reservation on a Saturday night and was finishing up our second round of drinks but overstayed our reservation by about 5 minutes. We were finishing up and were promptly kicked out by our bartender, despite there being three open seats when another reservation for two walked in. Extremely frustrating when one of the other table top patrons was just a walk in customer who was friends with the bartenders, meaning there would have been ample room for the next guests. Truthfully, I didn't feel like I had a welcoming experience and if I'm spending over ~$100 to get 4 drinks, most of which were premade, I would expect just a little patience and grace. If the male bartender had told us that we needed to finish up more quickly, we absolutely would've done that, but he just shoved the bill in our face and asked us to leave. It really rubbed us the wrong way. Drinks are good, but premade, unless you ask for a custom cocktail. Mean bartenders who are sticklers for the time. read more

Most of the drinks on the menu seemed to be pre-mixed ahead of time and poured into your glass at your table from a container taken from their fridge. Interesting concept, but I'd prefer my drinks be made fresh. My first drink (Bom Dia highball) was good, but my friends were not fans of theirs (all TDO Originals). For our second drink we all tried the "Doctor's Prescription" where you tell the server what kind of cocktail you are going for (flavors, liquors, styles) and they custom-make you a drink. None of us were particularly impressed with the results. I asked for something floral or fruity and a little herbal, and the drink I got was VERY herbal and bitter.
