I love the Dog Zone. I had an older Yorkie mix (he passed a few months ago) who was partly blind and deaf, and had a hard time finding a place to have him groomed. He was so upset at one place that he had a seizure. It was obvious that he did not like the groomer at another place and was shook up. These may have been good places, but not for my dog. I took him to The Dog Zone and he was just fine. No seizures, no being upset on the way home - just a well trimmed, clean, happy dog. I logged on to Yelp to get the address for a friend, and was shocked at a couple of the reviews. I have been going to The Dog Zone and have ONLY seen dogs happy and well cared for. The staff was affectionate with my dog and he loved it! In fact, I drive over 40 miles each way, just to get here. When I get my next dog, I will come back and know that I will again receive great service. read more

The worst place to bring your dog! after reading other reviews about their dog being cut from hair trimmers... My dog did too!!!! How awful this place is. I actually did not notice the cut until I brought my dog home. When I took my dog home he was not feeling good at all, he kept licking himself and I was wondering why? Then I noticed he has a horrible razor cut. It was red and irritated. I called and brought my dog in...Thinking they would care/listen but they don't. They denied everything!!! Wow! Unbelievable! I was in shocked because this is not the first time my dog has been here. Very disappointed how they responded to my concern. They said are you sure we did this? You better take him to the vet! Excuse me? He was fine until I brought him here! Will NEVER bring my dog here again!!! read more

I originally chose dog zone over other (less expensive) groomers in the area because other reviews said employees here really care about the dogs and treat them well. I was disappointed with my pet's most recent visit because when I got home I realized a small cut or scrape on his snout that started bleeding. I understand that it must be hard to cut a dog's facial hair but I wish they would have told me about it when I first picked him up instead of having to find it myself later. I trusted them with my puppy's first grooming which seemed to go well - for that I would consider giving them another chance. read more

I've been going to the Dog Zone now for may be 5+ years. They came highly recommended by a neighbor who had a 150+ pound dog and it's almost impossible to find a place who can take big dogs. I had a Saint Bernard at the time and he was quite happy at the Dog Zone. Always happy to arrive and was happy when I picked him up. Now I have a smaller dog and still go. They always treat human and dog with kindness and respect and my Aussie is always beautiful regardless of if it's a plain bath or a clip and bath. Wow! I'm seriously appalled at the customer service here. I literally just got off the phone with a lady named Deborah at the Pet Zone. I called to ask them why the quote was so high for my golden retrievers grooming when it was about $20 less before. First, she scoffed because I guess I called right when they're closing and second she was having a hard time looking for my dogs card? In the midst of her looking, i overhear what I assume is a coworker asking what I needed on the phone and the lady told her I was calling " to ask why the price was so high!" Again, I hear said co-worker just scoff as if I am not allowed to question their prices? Give me a break. Finally, she finds my dog's information and says well it's been a year since you've been here and that's why. I don't understand what that has to do with anything? Why does me not bringing in my dog after a year change the price that drastically? I could be walking in as a new customer and they wouldn't know the difference. Furthermore, I told her the price didn't make sense to me because my sister brings her golden there and she pays a lot less- precisely what I used to pay. She said she couldn't compare the two dogs, doesn't know the condition of my dogs coat, and if it's matted or not, etc. Is she assuming that my dog has not been groomed in a year? How does she know he hasn't been to other groomers and that he isn't sitting in his own filth for a year? So, instead of offering to redetermine the price when they see my dog, she just offers to cancel my appointment, which I agree too. I would GLADLY spend my money at a place where they value customer service and not speak to their customers as if they're a nuisance. It is so highly unprofessional of them to speak to customers that way when you're running a business!!! This isn't the first time I've been greeted with rudeness, some of the people there are just downright rude, it's no wonder i haven't returned more often. If you don't care about customer service and rudeness doesn't bother you then they have done a pretty good job even though they didn't cut my dogs nails the last time and still charged me for it. I'm leaving this establishment as a customer solely based on the poor customer service shown. read more

I really couldn't love The Dog Zone any more than I do! My sweet puppy, Anchor, is their biggest fan! Anchor can't wait to play with all her doggie daycare friends each day! I never worry about Anchor's safety as the owner and staff are educated about dogs and they always provide competent and compassionate care for all the dogs! Additionally, they always set appropriate limits and training with the dogs, which reinforces the training work you are doing at home with your dog. The facility is large and always immaculate! They do not allow the play area to become over crowded with dogs. Prices are very reasonable and competitive. I am so grateful that Anchor has a day care with staff (and dogs) she loves and where she can play and socialize while I'm at work! I'm definitely a raving fan! This place is not only convenient, but it is priced very well and they also do a good grooming job. They work on a first come first serve basis (no appointment necessary). I took my shih tzu in on a Friday morning for a bath. I dropped her off and they said she would be ready in about 2-3 hours. Sure enough she was done in less than 3 hours. She looked so cute and fluffy when I picked her up and she had on a cool little bandana on. The people that work there are very nice and the place is very clean. I paid $26 for her bath and they trimmed her nails, cleaned her paws, shaved her belly, etc... I'm very happy with their services. Would highly recommend. read more

There is no better pet groomer or doggie day care around. Linda and Deb take great personal interest in everyone who walks through the door, two or four legged. Tina has a remarkable rapport with dogs and puts them at ease while she trims them to be handsome. And their trademark scarves are just sooo cute. How good is the Dog Zone for dogs? Our Golden Retrievers have been Dog Zone customers for several years. We were so excited to see them expand to include day care and training. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE that works there is an animal lover and is passionate about the services they provide to their customers. Our dog, Birdie has such a good time playing there and she always comes home happy and tired from a couple of hours in daycare. We love to play with her too but it's important for her to have fun and socialize with other dogs as well. When she is groomed she comes home looking like she should be going to the Westminster Dog Show. We are happy customers and feel so fortunate to have The Dog Zone right in our neighborhood. I've been a client of the Dog Zone for the past year. I can't say enough about how satisfied I am with the services here. They groom my two dogs, a very furry terrier that I rescued (Ted) and a Jack Russell (Harry). Harry suffers from severe anxiety. I was concerned that I would never find a groomer who would be willing to deal with all of Harry's issues. The Dog Zone did an amazing job with him. As I was walking out the door after dropping Harry off for his first grooming I overheard the groomer say, "let's groom Ted first so that Harry can see how it is done". This warmed my heart and made me feel like they were really looking out for my little guys. They both came home perfectly groomed and most importantly.....safe and happy. read more

After reading the reviews I took my puppy for her first groom. I called and spoke with Charidan who gave me a good price and fit me into their schedule. The Dog Zone is very clean, there were a few customers who were leaving and seemed happy. I picked up my dog 2 hours later and was amazed at how she looked. Daisy was very well taken care of, she smelled clean and the staff was very good to her. Charidan groomed her and I couldn't be happier. She smelled great and her cut was what I wanted. This place is good for day camp but not grooming. I dont think they know what there really doing when it comes to grooming. I've taken my dog here a few times and it was ok. The first few times I took my dog in she recieved a trim and bath and I paid 55 dollars. A little expensive. This last time they told me they haven't really done a haircut on her so it was going to cost 60. I dont know what the difference was but it was 5 dollars more. It was 5 dollars more but it was a bad cut. When I called to make an appointment I asked if my dog can go in with someone who is experience because she seems to always be scared from her haircuts. Over the phone the lady told me that she had 30 years of experience. So I felt comfortable. I go in to take her and everything seemed fine. The lady at the front asked me how I wanted it cut and she seemed like she really understood. My dog gets a schnauzer cut and because it was summer time I wanted the hair on her stomach cut really short. When I picked her up her hair on the left side was longer then the right and one ear was longer then the other and the hair on her stomach was not even touched. I go back to tell them and they said they really didnt understand what to do because they never did a full haircut on her and the lady at the front just put "the same" on the card. So I re-explain to them that it's a schnauzer cut except that I wanted the hair on her stomach cut really short. So no skirt on her stomach and legs. So there goes my dog again. They call me to pick her up and guess what, the hair on her stomach was still not cut. So I gave up and just took her home because as it was my dog was already stressed from her first haircut that I didnt want to put her in again for the 3rd try. I just decided that it's not a good grooming place. read more

The Dog Zone is also the CAT Zone!! I took our long-haired little girl in for her first trim to prevent matting, etc. The staff was very friendly, gentle, and attentive. They also encouraged me to watch the process through a large window, so I got to see just how gentle they remained throughout the clipping. Whereas it was brief, it involved "sensitive areas," and yet our little girl stayed still and seemed relatively calm. They even did a "first run" and brought her to the window (because you can't put fur on once you clip it off!) to see if I wanted more done. I appreciated this extra care and their attentiveness to my stated preferences. The cost was also very reasonable. In just one visit, I am totally sold, and I would recommend them to any caring cat owners. Five stars indeed! read more

I have been going to the Dog Zone since it was the Dog Wash. I have always had an excellent experience there. My dog who has recently passed had a seizure there and the staff, Linda, Debbie and Tina were on top of it and contacting me immediately. They have always been above and beyond in taking the best care of my animals. I am forever grateful for what they do. I have over the years provided dogsitting services and they take the best care of all of the dogs that I bring in for grooming before they go home. I cannot express my gratitude enough to this place for their work. My dogs get so excited to be there and when they leave they are equally happy because they are clean and look amazing. The Dog Zone is AMAZING!! I have absolutely no worries when I drop our Bulldog puppy Bruce off for a quick bath and nail trim. He goes with the staff happily and I pick him up an hour later- tail wagging, smelling like cinnamon and looking adorable in a different bandanna every time. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming. We are greeted upon arrival and they always recognize us (probably because Bruce is so stinking cute). I love that they call when he's ready and when I show up, someone usually has him up front playing and running around. They don't have him locked up in a kennel waiting for me to get there. They are also always wiling to answer questions about at home grooming and offer suggestions for in between visits. After our first visit, we received the sweetest Thank You note. This was the icing on the cake. We will continue to visit our friends at the Dog Zone when Bruce gets stinky and gross. read more

I decided to let a week go by, so my words won't be too harsh. But I feel still frustrated when I think of this place and those people who have only one interest in mind behind their fake smile: to make LOTS of money grooming the dogs like on a chain. My dog is 13 year old, with some back problems and fat tumors, therefore she needs care and some extra time to be done, and for sure some patience with her pain and crankiness. And guess what? Those people, after grooming my dog once, two months ago, refused to get us a new appointment when they pulled out my dog's card!!! Of course, my dog would need more time, more attention, care and patience, and those people don't have this kind of qualities. They only want to make money, money, money, and fast. No time for old and more complicated dogs. Production on chain, money and again, money! And yes, I forgot also to tip them the first time we went there. Big mistake, I realized only now!!! I took my dog to her former groomer, Royalty Pet Care, on Sierra Madre Blvd., and my sweetheart was treated like a princess!!! She came back happy, much cleaner and more beautifully groomed than what she got at Dog Zone. And it was 5 dollars chipper. Of course, this doesn't matter, just for the information. The only thing, it's not next door, and unfortunately, my dog doesn't like anymore longer trips by car. But we made it this time, and hopefully, will make it for as long as she'll be with us. If you have older and more complicated dogs, please, avoid Dog Zone. It's not worth to feel, you and your dogs, discriminated and rejected just because of the dogs' age (or maybe my accent too???). There are other MUCH BETTER places where you can take your old dogs and much nicer people to take a good care of them. I hope this is helpful, at least for people with old dogs. read more
