I was there last night with two friends at the Dome Bar for drinks. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in the place. The cocktail waitress was extremely inattentive the entire time we were there. She eventually just disappeared completely, and after looking for her for at least 10 minutes so that we could pay our tab and leave, the other waitress informed us that she had gone to a room with an Army gentleman to do, well whatever they were going to do up there. She was finally called to come back down so that we could pay and leave. I have spent many years in the service industry and this is deplorable. I am from Austin and have never before had this negative of an experience. But the unprofessionalism that happened last night makes me question whether or not I will be frequenting the place again. read more

Not impressed at all with this place. Hours of operation are actually up in the air. Opens when it wants and closes when it wants not according to the times posted. I actually checked out of the Hotel early due to poor service here. read more

Neat place to visit, especially if you're new in town or just here for a little while. The service is not the best and very often it is disturbingly quiet. There is a lot of history to the place which is why it is a ok place to visit. A large Tiffany dome above your head as you hang out adds to the experience. read more

A beautiful setting ruined by giant projectors and horrible bartenders. I ordered a double gin and tonic and received a weak single. I also asked to have any sort of nonalcoholic beverage and received a sprite with sweet and sour mix. Yuck Yuck. This is an amazing looking bar but that is about it. read more

Wrorst Restaurant ever the waiter treat people with disrespect and the food awful I went with my wife and brothers In-laws, even getting water was a pain in the a** if you don't ask for the menu you won't eat. Please never eat there I hope they kick that waiter out and close that dump, sorry no one have the right to treat you like crap for the way you look. One star is a lot for that dump. read more

The hotel claims GQ named this one of the top 12 bars in the USA -- that is hard to believe, unless it was based solely on the gorgeous Tiffany glass dome & generous use of marble throughout. Unfortunately, the substance does not match the decor. While the prices are low, the wine list was extremely disappointing, the liquor selection meager, even the menus were worn & sticky. I would actually give the Dome Bar 1 1/2 stars so I rounded up. I hadn't been here in a long time and I decided to drop in with friends since the Dome had live music and we were looking for a place to kick back without a lot of hoopla. The place, of course, looks elegant and maybe a wee bit tired looking but it's still a great looking bar. The band was good playing top 40 hits and adding their own twist. Note to bands: mentioning your name now & then helps. The music was loud and talking with friends was a bit of a challenge but no one is really to blame, after all live music IS loud. The drinks were good. But here's where things got funky. Our waitress, who was fairly friendly, asked for our drink order. Normally when I order a vodka drink the server/bartender almost always asks what kind of vodka I prefer but she didn't ask this time. I figured since the happy hour menu stated well drinks for $4, that's what would be served. Not so. We were served Grey Goose. Not a big deal but in that case, I would have requested Tito's. So the drinks were at a premium price. Anyhow, the funkiness happened when our bill came... We received the credit card slips and a detailed receipt that was cut short of listing the tax and total. This seemed a bit odd to me so we did mental calculations but it just did not add up. I asked the waitress for the full bill and when she brought it over we discovered that an 18% gratuity was added without our knowledge. We found this odd since we were a party of four. However, I initially thought it was okay because after a few drinks having someone else do the math for you is a favor! Ha! But it would have been more proper to have been told in advance about the charge. The more interesting part is why was our receipt cut short of the added TIP? This tactic is usually done to extract a larger TIP. Could it have been an honest mistake? Maybe, but I seriously doubt it since other reviewers have had similar experiences. Another side note, I ordered the same drink three times and the waitress kept bringing over the wrong drink. After the third one, it was addressed with the bartender who then made up for it by sending over a complimentary drink. So we left with mixed feelings. I like the place but if this practice of half receipts is common, well, that is not so good. I may give them the benefit of the doubt and try again. read more

We stopped in for a drink one hot afternoon . I had a mojito, which was very good. The bartender was knowledgeable about the history of the building. He was entertaining, but veryyyyy sloooowwww. The dome is definitely worth a look. I would say once upon a time it was a very impressive place, but now it's shabby & run down. (tattered upholstery on bar stools.) , overall I'd have to say I'm glad I got to see it, ( it is Tiffany after all ) but if NOT for that it's just another place that used to be wonderful. Bartender tried to give us the bill yesterday without giving us our itemized receipt. She tried to rob us, 3 drinks for $36 and then I asked for the itemized receipt. The number didn't match and when I asked her why this total was different she said because of taxes. $6 in taxes?? What a joke, our real tab was $26. I wont be back. read more

The service was excellent. We tried it because it was a great Groupon deal. The prime ribeye was delicious and generous portion. Yes it's pricey but it was worth it. It's the best steak I've had in El Paso. I'll definitely come back. read more

Ahh how the mighty have fallen . The dome bar used to be a high point in El Paso bars , a touch of elegance from a bygone era . Enjoy great service in a beautiful and unique environment ripe with history . Those days are gone . The three of us went there on a Friday for a night cap after enjoying dinner at cafe central. As soon as you enter the hotel you can tell it is starting to show its age . The devil is in the details , and the devil is saying the hotels current owners aren't spending a dime on upkeep and maintenance nor it seems on staff training either . Don't get me wrong , the bones of the Camino are beautiful , but everything needs a little tlc once in awhile . We stepped into the bar area and sat down under the lovely stained glass dome ceiling (hence the name ) and waited to be helped . The bar was moderately busy , several tables had people , and the bar was relatively full. The bowling competition was going on so there was a lot of patrons in the bar from out of town. Definitely not locals. The lone waitress seemed more interested in talking (flirting?) with a patron at the bar then actually providing service to the customers. We finally got her attention after 10 minutes and she asked us what we'd like to order. We had been drinking wine for dinner so he other two I came with wanted to continue. I came for a scotch. When the waitress was asked if she had a wine list she responded "Yes. We have Cabernet , Merlot, Malbec and Chardonnay" Seriously ??? That's what this landmark bar has come to?? So much for a touch of class and elegance . They ordered a cab and I got a Machallan 12. I didn't need to ask how their wine was, all I had to do is look at the sour expression on their faces when they took the first sip. The waitress then went back to the bar to continue chatting with the guy she was speaking to earlier, never to return . Not once did she bother to come by and check on us , or ask if we wanted another round . Pathetic customer service . When we were ready to leave , I had to go to the bar and get the tab from the bartender, because the waitress couldn't be bothered . For this great experience we were charged a super premium on sub standard wine and a hefty mark up on the scotch . Overall it was a very depressing experience . For such a wonderful building and bar to fall into such a state is sad, and a disservice to every El Pasoan who values our cities landmark buildings and history . It has become apparent to me the current ownership and management care nothing for the properties rich past and reputation and will solely rely on their captive audience (the business and convention travelers staying there) for revenue. They are banking on the properties past reputation for as long as they can , with little reinvestment or maintenance on their part. So sad ! read more

Terrible. Hostess didn't know what a hostess' responsibilities are. The table was set for a 5 course meal, but only 3 courses were served. The waiter didn't know what non-alcoholic beverages were available other than Coca-Cola (I asked if they had Dr Pepper, he said he didn't know, and it took over 10 minutes to get a positive response and finally a beverage). Came in on a Monday night, mostly a business crowd enjoying a meal before laying their heads for another night in a town they don't call home, all pleasant but somewhat removed. Nancy was was my bartender and savior. She made me mojitos that seemed as they we're kissed by the gods of the southern states. I ordered the Caesar Salad. I know what the heck that is the most common dish in any restaurant. This was pretty much as you would expect the usual Caesar Dressing and somewhat dry chicken strips. So why the 4 rating... The atmosphere is very pleasant and my company was as good as I could have asked for so many miles from home. Would I return yes, but I might try one of the soups instead. One of my intrepid traveling soul mates hand tried the Tlalpeno and the Tortilla soups. She described them as different as broth and milk. The Tlalpeno was brothy and light, with veggies and chipotle that went down like chicken noodle on a snowy day. On the hand was a soup as smooth and creamy as the best latte served in Seattle, with the flavor of beans and chili pasilla and topped with crispy tortilla strips. Really Dome Bar.. it's the Manegamnt that can't help us... El Paso knows bowlers are coming but you can't staff the Dome Bar.. You have the workers Running around to help us but, you don't have people to work.. had to wait for fry's. Really. The Management should move on to Del taco...
