Had a great week in El Paso. I closed out each night with a (or 3+) delicious expresso martinis at the Dome bar in the hotel lobby. The bartenders were great and actually enjoyed making the drink and almost challenging each other to who made a better one. The atmosphere is upscale but relaxed. They had a singer one night and she was fabulous. One night a piano player who was also very good. I highly recommend this bar, and the hotel.

Later the musicians/band set up here and were LOUD!

It was really working for me as a nice bar to relax at u til the band started playing. I guess I'm to old to be screaming at a hotel bar and still not be heard. My date and I came for a couple drinks. I went all Bourdain and ordered a Negroni. It was perfect but I should have ordered a double. Someone must have measured it with a micro milliliter cup as I felt it barely covered the ice cube. But it tasted great. I didn't want a big feed with it so I ordered the "Trail Mix". That was a big let down. I wanted the mixed nuts but the fake jalapeño heated dark chocolate mess it was in made me gag my dinner. For fear of losing it I only had one bite. The waitress was great and I just orders my second Negroni when the band just let loose. Four or five live musicians playing as if they were in a theater. Ok, that was enough for me. The dome was beautiful and the marble spectacular. When that much cool stone has full bore wind and percussion instruments, you get the point. Definitely recommend you come but stick to drinks and bolt when you see any musicians tuning up.

Fabulous French 75 in the Dome bar inside Paseo Del Norte. Fun, smiling bartender was hustling to get everyone served quickly when 4 different couples converged simultaneously. America knew all her drinks by heart and made them look easy!

The service was great despite a super busy night. Patience with the barman is always key. I have been here several times; even on National Bourbon Day where the Dome Bar had a great Bourbon night with some smooth jazz at the piano bar. The Dome offers some Bourbon Barrel Vintages blended in French, Mizunara, and American Oaks. This in a splendid setting with a recently (2020) renovated Dome that has a great of history to tell. This is one of my favorite place to go for some drinks and bites in El Paso. Located in the El Paso Del Norte Hotel downtown, the Dome bar brings the elegance of the 20th century with some well preserved features such as the Tiffany-style, high stained glass dome ceiling. The story goes that after some libitation some revolutionaries would go to the 10th floor and watch some troop in-fighting. Only in El Paso!! You even have a restored bronze statue of General Pancho Villa welcoming U. S. General John Pershing at the entry of the hotel. This is a great place that captures the time and atmosphere of everything that is good about our great city of El Paso!

We went to the Dome Bar on a busy Saturday night before the holiday season, so that may have impacted our experience. It was very busy and crowded with standing room only by about 8:30pm. I ordered one their seasonal drinks and it was good, but the amaretto was very overpowering and made it hard to drink. I don't know what else was in there, but maybe the point was just the amaretto flavor. My husband had a couple of classic drinks that were okay. Nothing good, nothing bad. They had live music, but it felt like a bit much in an otherwise classy and open space. Glad we went to experience it, but it was just okay overall.

It's really really really expensive. $5 beers and $10 mixed drink. Don't go top shelf, don't do it.

Living in New Orleans for a few years, I can tell you that The Big Easy does not take their tiki bar game lightly and I've had my fair share of adventures. Although the exterior of the building might be misleading, you can expect a world of Polynesian delight and flavors that will leave your taste buds tingling. A dimly lit environment carefully decorated to theme, shows the intentionality behind The Tiki Room El Paso. I had been to their original location by the courthouse and this is a true 2.0 rebirth of the establishment. Now my fave thing to do at any spot is to ideally sit at the bar to get the full experience. What really stood out to me was the level of commercial kitchen equipment that ensured the kitchen smells and smoke didn't take over the place. It's all in the details. The staff here is super fun and engaging which made it all the better. My friend and I were served by Adam and their service with the food and drink program made it all the five-star experience one hopes to receive. If you're getting a drink or served by Adam then you're in for a delight. I had a zombie drink and the flavors were so well mixed that it was easy to forget how liquored up they were. This drink has a two drink maximum and lemme tell you, later that night it was clear why that is lol. I definitely had a good buzz flowing. My favorite part was the serving presentation which had the cinnamon sparks and flicks of fire. My friend was hungry and kept raving about the pork belly bowl and damn was she right. The pork belly was crispy and juicy with each bite. You can respect the aroma and fresh ingredients including green onions, pineapple, jalapenos, and fried garlic. You have to order one (maybe two) for the table. Take a look around and enjoy the vibes. It's an absolute must.

So I, of course, feeling the need always to explore new cocktail bars or restaurants in my hometown when visiting home, was pretty excited for the opportunity to check out Hush Hush. As a true millennial Gemini, I celebrate my birthday for the whole month, so I quickly texted my family and friends; this is where I wanted to go. What I love about Hush Hush is how it's encouraging and pushing folks to step out of their comfort zone in their attire and dress more to the vibes of this cocktail house (Think Soho, ABA, Casablanca, and Elephante). You're bound to see more desert tones, muted colors, flowy pants, basically anything resort wear. It's cool to see this cocktail house make you feel like you're not in El Paso. The music is different, more loungey, to where you can hear everyone at your table. Of course, there's still a DJ, but damn, Hush Hush is intentionally geared for those who love to go out but need top-shelf cocktails without the eye rolls or the bartenders staring at us with blank eyes. Hush Hush is a true game changer. The lines might get crazy, but I suggest getting there early so you can snag your photos and a solid table/spot. There are three main bar areas, but my fave was the velvet room. I suggest catching a drink on the second floor if you get there early enough to get an eagle eye's view of the establishment. Attention to detail was on point, and I appreciated the homework and research done before the opening of this spot. It's an elevated experience for the city and one I wish every city in the States had tbh.
