I am convinced these are the highest quality sandwiches you can get for the price. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. If you're not that hungry you can also get a half sandwich with a side salad for around the same price. I will definitely be coming back! read more

This spot specifically... is the one. Great welcoming service, even though they are slammed at lunch. I go here at least once a week for a sandwich. I absolutely am addicted to that French Dip, best one in the area, with their mild-medium horseradish and very gracious on the au ju. I like how they ask would you like to try a sauce to-go, popular ones are the Chipotle Mayo and Cilantro Basil. All are good. I spread the word, my coworkers, and friends are hooked too. I tried many sandwiches from here already, and they've all been great. Those chocolate chip cookies are 5+/5. Red velvet too. Sandwiches, service, sauces, and sweets. 5/5 all across the board. Fantastic sandwiches! We tried the "carnitas torta" and "the slammer." We'd absolutely order both again. The bread here was incredibly fresh, as was all the produce, and the meats were delicious. I honestly can't stop thinking about the herbed olive oil that put the slammer sandwich over the top...and the carnitas were so tender and also really enjoyed the cilantro lime ranch on that sandwich, as well. Oh Yelp, it's been a while. With covid, and a blossoming Safeway sushi and donut addiction, I was going down a dark path, but I can finally say I'm seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Now to preface this, getting my brother to do anything at all requires a whole dissertation, and given I only have an MA, I have no experience with that. We've driven by a few times, and whenever a place is named after a person, I need to try it (just a little quirk about me I just made up). We get done with the longest quick trip to the bike shop in the history of all quick trips (bike shops and otherwise). I'm like Neil, let's hit The Don's, and he goes, idk. Luckily I've been hitting him with "let's hit The Don's" for the last week, and psychology says if you hit someone with that line a few times, they might consider it if they're feeling a sandwich. This day I was victorious. We roll up, park, and there is actually a little line action going down. We join the line, my Slack is blowing up, but I'm COMMITTED. I order a California, don't even need to tell you it was on Dutch Crunch, and wait. That place was CRANKING. Like despite a few door dash people in an causing a commotion (one guy had his speakerphone on, and none of them had apparently heard of manners), but I persevered. They primed me at the register, "sorry for any delays", but only maybe 5 minutes went by before I was being handed a sandwich and told to have a good day. I took this sucker home, and was really reminded of Mr. Cookies...I mean Pickles. I had a meeting in 7 minutes (remember I got held up at the bike shop), so I knew what I had to do, and I knew I only had 7 minutes to do it. Now I didn't need to spin any bottles to spend 7 minutes in heaven, because this sandwich was straight biblical. I ate it quickly, sad it was over, but happy it was happening, and made it to my 1 o'clock with 2 minutes to spare. I would definitely check this place out. read more

Sheesh! Where do I start! This place is good!!! Sandwiches are so much better priced compared to the competitors. So I found this place by surprise! My manager ended up ordering lunch one day and we got a bunch of cut up sandwiches. There was so much to choose from! I got to try out the California, pesto, carnitas. The one I must say I was disappointed in was the California. It was kinda dry. I expected more flavor out of it. But my favorite at the times was that carnitas. Now that sandwich was super good! After we had it for lunch that one day, I knew I had to go back in and order something else! Few weeks later I went in and order the Dirty bird! I saw it had cream cheese as a spread and I wanted to try that because I love cream cheese! The workers at the time were closing soon and the guy who helped me out was super nice. I wanted Dutch crunch and they were out of it but I think they ended up making me a quick fresh batch. Thanks to that guy! But yeah this sandwich was good. The size on it was pretty good decent size. Say about 10 inch sub but packed down. The flavor was great, the chicken and sauce that was in it complimented eachother so well cause it wasn't drenched in sauce. Perfect amount! EXCELLENT! I found Don's by accident. It is in the same location as where a chain sandwich spot used to be. I was there so what the heck... give it a try. The food is fresh and very flavorful. I got the Californian. Service is fast and very friendly. The price is very reasonable for a well made fresh deli sandwich. My job keeps me in my car most of the day so I generally just eat and go. The sandwich is a little messy as it drips with olive oil. But that is a very minor issue to deal with. Just get more napkins. I absolutely recommend Don's Deli. Dutch Crunch bread is top notch.. came here for the first time today for lunch. No line and it took less than 10 mins for an order for 2. I'm glad they had a huge sign on the corner of Middlefield and Rengstorff advertising their Grand Opening, or I wouldn't have known they existed. I took a chance and am so glad I did. The Beachboy is a hot turkey sandwich that comes with avocado, prosciutto, a "spicy" mayo and the usual veggies like lettuce and tomato. Turkey sandwiches run the risk of being bland but not this one! The thin slices of prosciutto added a great saltiness and the mildly spicy mayo was so delicious, it really elevated the sandwich from the typical deli turkey on dutch crunch. They make their own bread so it was very fresh. My side of fries was definitely enough for one person. The fries come unseasoned though, so grab some salt packets near the drinks. Don's is a deli choice I have already recommended to several people. read more

Being a fan of the Don in Sunnyvale already, I could not have been more excited when I saw this location was opening, blocks from where I live. The sandwiches here are impeccably awesome. I have come to expect quality from the Don. I would put the Don well above Ike's, Jersey Mike's, and TOGOs. It compares favorably to the Sandwich Spot's Redwood City location and Driftwood Deli. My favorite is the Pesto Chic. I've also started getting the Tri-Tip sandwiches. They make them great here. Also the store (a converted Subway) has a small friendly vibe with catchy music. One thing they don't have is borderline undercooked sugar cookies, but maybe that's for the best... If you like sandwitches, hit this place up, you won't regret it. read more

Super impressed by the staff-- they are at the top of their game. I was asking one person if they had a chicken salad option and another employee overheard me and said that while it wasn't on their menu, she'd make it for me if I could wait three minutes. Everyone working there was super present and conveyed a sense that they were genuinely happy customers were there. The deli is also very generous with side sauce options, which is fun when you're trying a new place out. I recommend the mayo curry, which is great with any chicken or turkey sandwich. I also think it's worth pointing out, because that's not what you necessarily think of when you think of a deli, they have a _great_ vegetarian menu, including several falafel options-- salads as well as sammies. read more

I decided to give this place a try, since I live down the block and I noticed there was a new sandwich place nearby. Normally I'm not a big sandwich person, but I wanted something easy before heading to see a movie. I went with my boyfriend and we both loved what we got! I got the pesto chicken sandwich, and he got a sandwich with falafel and sun dried tomato pesto. Yum! I've been trying to support local businesses during shelter in place and I love a good sandwich, so I knew I needed to give The Don's Deli a try. I placed my order through Yelp and it was ready when I got there. I got the Don's Original Tri Tip and it was delicious! They threw in some extra BBQ Blanco sauce that was killer and a free chocolate chip cookie that was wonderful chewy and gooey. I will definitely go back!
