This is seriously the best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had. There are very few places that make me have to close my eyes when chewing the first bite because it's so goooddd. If you can handle a little bit of spice and a good amount of seasoning, this is the perfect sandwich. They make it fresh when you order, there is so much flavor, the portion size is huge, everything is so crispy. Even the sauce is amazing. TLDR: Excellent Fried Chicken! I was just chatting with my friend about picking up Chik-Fil-A for dinner one night, and he suggested Chicken G. There's one in Fremont, but also on in Mountain View, which isn't too far from me. So on a different night, I decided to give this place a try. Short answer: it's REALLY good! Long answer: It's a very very small place. It's got that 80's vibe to it... it's like Falafel Drive-In but with chicken! The staff was nice... although it seemed like there was only 1 front-of-the-house ( I couldn't see in the back). And he was doing EVERYTHING... preparing the food, packaging it up, taking orders.... And it wasn't like the place was super busy at 7:30p on a Thursday. In fact, no one was in front of me, but I still had to wait 5 minutes or so for him to take my order. But finally the order was fired up, and he immediately told me it will take about 15 minutes, because everything is made fresh. Nice! I kinda lost track doom-scrolling, so I peeked my head up every once in a while. I guess he thought I was being impatient, but he assured me, 5 more minutes... Eventually, he called me over, and I took the thing home. Keep in mind, with traffic... it took about 30 min to get home. So the food was getting a little cool. But it was still VERY crunchy, and tasty. My wife immediately took a bite and said it was SO GOOD. She had the 2 tenders and a side (french fries), while I had the chicken burger. The burger was HUUUUGE. I yielded and got a knife to cut the thing in half so I could eat it properly. Checkin' chicken with my potna G! Love the vibe here, just a hole in the wall family run chicken shack. The menu and presentation is up to par, the service is immaculate. My server noticed I was a first timer and gave me an extensive run down of the menu, which was extremely helpful. I made my order and they hooked it up fat! I tried ordering 1 piece of dark meat just to try it, I end up buying the 4 pcs, because they charge $10 only for one pcs. Yup you heard that right. This is honestly, some of the best chicken in the bay area. The crust was Crunchy with a lot of flavor. The chicken itself was really juicy not dry at all. I do have to say that the service was pretty amazing. They must have checked on us two or three times just to make sure we were okay and that we had everything that we needed. This is a solid spot if you're craving chicken late night. Parking is a bit limited and the place itself is kind of small, but there is seating both inside and outside, which helps. Portion sizes are definitely a highlight. We ordered the 5 tenders with mac and cheese, bread, and fries, and it was more than enough to split between two people. This thing was HUGE. I literally couldn't even fit it in my mouth in 1 bite, I had to chip at it bit by bit. but oh man, it definitely did not disappoint- it was craaaazy juicy, with a nice spicy kick from the serranos. The crispiness and juiciness really blew me away- it's like a tier above other fried chicken (buttermilk style, so don't compare it to nashville). When we asked the cashier for more peppers, he really hooked us up- he gave us a tray of them! I was so amazed because I was just not expecting them to actually fill our outrageous request. I know that in today's climate, I may have my citizenship revoked for saying the following but I am not the biggest fan of fried chicken. It's just not my go-to choice when it comes to the American classics. I honestly don't even care for the fried chicken served at Ad Hoc or Wayfare Tavern, which both serve the gold standards for fried chicken according to foodies. With that being said, I do understand what constitutes quality fried chicken and that involves a perfectly seasoned batter and an incredibly tender chicken. Chicken G's delivers on both those aspects. Their fried chicken is some of the best that I've eaten. The sides here are also quite tasty. I got the fries, which were seasoned perfectly and the mac and cheese, which consisted of a béchamel that was incredible. It's been a while since I ordered from a fried chicken eatery that had sides that were great. Chicken G's has all of the qualities that usually result in me loving a place... it's open late, it has a limited menu so as to not to overwhelm you with multiple options, and it delivers on fantastic quality with said limited menu. The interior is decent, nothing fancy but it seems like a chill hangout spot, especially since they're open until 1 a.m. We ordered The G Meal, which comes with 4 pieces of chicken (2 thighs, 2 drums), 2 sides, 2 Texas toasts, and house sauces. For our sides, we chose the mac & cheese and fries. Honestly, the sides weren't great. As you can see in the photo, the mac & cheese was clumpy and mushy, and the fries were just okay. Got here right when they opened and the fryers probably had to reach temperature because the wait was about ~25-30 minutes and I was the second customer of the day. Got the friend's platter and the chicken pieces are nicely seasoned and very meaty. The chicken sandwich is a very large portion, however, the chicken to bun ratio is a little skewed as the chicken doesn't really fill the bun properly, some spots there's lots of chicken and other spots lots of bun. The portion sizes for the sides for the friend's platter are very small, but they are good. Cheese sauce on the Mac was a good consistency and flavor, just the ratio of sauce to pasta was a lot. The coleslaw was refreshing and didn't have too much mayo. I would've liked to have tried the sauces with the chicken, but unfortunately, it was forgotten and didn't make it into the bag. Maybe they're more on top of it later in the day. Service was nice and inside has a decent amount of seating ~25ish seats. The restrooms are outside while there is a prayer room inside. I guess I built up this fried chicken in my mind too much. Had four pieces of dark with fries. The fries were underdone. The chicken was cooked through and the crunch was very satisfying. I tasted the spicy marinade and liked that. The legs were plump and juicy. Maybe on the overdone side. The thighs were a weird cut. I got one thigh that was majorly cut in half with part of a leg bone still attached. Maybe it was missing a third of the meat. The other thigh was mostly backbone. You can serve thighs that are butchered wrong. Made me sad. My friend had the chicken fingers and thought they were mid. The sauces weren't anything to write home about. I guess the magic is in the sandwiches but at $15 a pop that's kinda pricing me out. So for the price of around $24 for - 4 piece and fries with Texas toast, average sauces and weird thighs, I can't say I will come back. My husband has been wanting to try this place for the longest time and we finally made our way here last week with the kids. We got a Friends Meal (4 thighs + 4 drums) with 3 toasts & 3 sides (mac + cheese / fries / coleslaw). This place has a smallish parking lot and lucky on street parking. I got a Chick-licious sandwich with fries for dinner which took a little longer then I expected but they have a lot of take out business.
