Tip: This eatery is on Fantuan. Last Friday, I was looking at my Fantuan app. It had a daily deals section. The deals were amazing! The one that caught my attention was liangpi with beef skewers for $10.99. It sounded perfect for dinner. After I was done working from home, I ran a few errands before heading over to The Dragon BBQ Bar. This location is roughly a five-minute drive from where I live and is a good block away from Pacific Mall. This eatery is where a Fishman Warf Seafood used to be. When I moved to Markham with my parents after graduating from high school in Toronto, this location was a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) store. It looks like over time, at least three smaller retail units, including the former KFC, ended up being merged into the large eatery space that this restaurant is today. I used to make a right turn into the plaza going westbound on Steeles Avenue East. This time, I decided to turn at Putnam Gate, look at Harvest Moon Park, and enter the plaza through the back. It was cool to see what other businesses were with this restaurant. There were signs saying that it's two-hour parking at Harvest Moon Plaza. I was picking up my order, so this allotted time was more than enough for me. If you're dining here, two hours seems reasonable. I got an estimated time of 25 minutes for my order to be ready. It was more like fifteen minutes. It was fast. I got out of my parked car and walked into the eatery. There were a lot of neon signs and bright colours used in the decor. I looked to the right and there were three takeout orders where a podium was to greet folks. A woman came over to me. I let her know that I had a Fantuan order and rattled the last three digits of the order number to her. My food was ready. She handed me my plastic bag containing my dinner. I thanked her and happily left with my food. I then drove home. When I got home, I had my dinner featuring these items: - Liangpi - Beef skewers - Arctic Ocean I will start with Arctic Ocean, which is a mandarin orange soda. It was yummy and fizzy. I spotted it on the beverage menu and said yes to trying it for the first time. I loved it, especially with the polar bear on the can. The Chinese name, 北冰洋, is literally Arctic Ocean. Sometimes, the translation is so messed up that I scratch my head trying to figure it out the discrepancy. Each character is meaningful to comprise the full name: - 北 = north - 冰 = ice - 洋 = ocean The Arctic Ocean is north and icy. Cool! Liangpi is a cold noodle dish with sauce. I only know the sauce to be a combination of sesame paste and chili oil. My only experience having it before this one was at Bingz. I've been told that there is a chili oil and black vinegar version of the sauce for liangpi. I have yet to try it. The rice noodles were flat and wide. I liked that they were fluid, and came with julienned carrots and cucumbers, and peanuts. The sesame paste and chili oil sauce required stirring. I then poured it into the container with rice noodles and stirred some more. This place was extremely generous with the sauce. I loved the liangpi so much. The noodles were perfectly slurpy in the sauce. It had the best set of textures. The cucumbers and carrots were fresh and crunchy. The peanuts had a nice roasted taste with a different version of crunchiness. The noodles were cold, didn't stick to one another, and cooked perfectly. It was a lot of fun slurping this part of my dinner. The barbequed beef came on exceptionally long skewers. They were carefully wrapped. Unwrapping them was straightforward. The beef on each skewer was tender and was packed it a ton of flavour. So good! I had a terrific introduction to barbeque at this eatery. I loved the liangpi. I'd go back to have this combo again, which was great with the Arctic Ocean drink. I'd also love to try more items on the menu. (354) read more

The Dragon BBQ is a solid spot if you're craving Chinese-style BBQ and skewers in Markham. We ordered a mix of skewers, seafood, and the steamed fish. The steamed fish was our favourite--fresh, perfectly cooked, and mild enough for our toddler. The skewers were tasty, with plenty of variety and reasonable prices. No real misses here. Food was overall pretty good. Standouts were: Enoki Mushroom foil bowl - Super garlicky and excellent Liangpi - Cold dish packed with lots of sesame flavour in the sauce House beer - I usually go for unique beers so when I see some house brew, I try it. Best decision as the beer was awesome. A light lager with a hint of tea. Interesting combo and perfect to go with the skewers. Spice levels for dishes are customizable. I tend to like spicy so less spice was not quite enough for me but regular spice is perfect. Shaved ice dessert is self serve and 1 bowl is included with your meal. Simple but a tasty finish to cool you down. Beers are cheap, pitchers are $13. Service is quick. Come early or suffer some wait times. Smaller parties of 4 or less seem to be less of a wait. An almost 'experience' of a resturant which really rushes you when you step in with the 2000s posters and intriguing choice of decor. Make sure you check out the washroom and the posters. Food wise the skewers were great, the lamb ones were good, but I thiunk pork belly were my favorite though it does feel like the skewers were fried as opposed to grilled. Would have been better if we asked for spicy but we couldn't as we had our 5 year old with us. While the skewers were good, my favorite dish was the cold noodles, the fried potatoes (which were essentially chips), and the fried sweet and sour pork. Sweet and sour pork were classic north eastern flavor a crisp drenched in sauce. The chips were crispy and was a good palate changer to take a break between the skewers which sometimes had similar flavors, but was most pleasently surprised by the cold noodles. The cold noodles were a tad different than the classic north-eastern cold noodle as it had a bit more of a kick and the texture/crunch from fried peanuts. 3rd visit in 2 weeks. I brought my wife and sister-in-law for afternoon eats. All the skewers were good. The cripsy pork belly stir fry was excellent. If you are sensitive to spice get it less spicy or not spicy. This dish packs some heat. Beers are smooth and compliment the skewers. These bbq places are becoming more common in Scarborough. There's a free dessert station with choice of mango pudding, yogurt, and shaved ice with jelly. Definitely check them out if you are looking for drinking place with some exceptional skewers and stir fry dishes. The service is good some have limited English so sharpen your Mandarin skills. Ordered some skewers for late night snack. Got the beef, lamb, pork skewers. All in the hot spice level. They were more mild, than spicy, and flavour wise could use more spices as the flavour was mild as well. Beef was good, but the lamb was dry, not enough fat integrated in the skewer. New Chinese BBQ Skewer spot in Markham. Great ambiance, okay food, okay service. We had no resos and it as a Friday night so our party of 6 tried to come earlier to snag a table. We still waited about half an hour for a seat. The interior is such a vibe and has great decor that makes you feel like you're in Asia. Beer towers are cheap here so definitely should get some if you're into drinking. Got a variety of food to share for the table: meat skewers, soup, cabbage, fried pork, clams, instant noodles, pickled chicken feet, and more. The food was good/ okay but nothing really stood out to me - tasted pretty standard for a Chinese BBQ spot. After grabbing our bill and on our way out is when we found out that they had free shaved ice for dessert. New north east China influenced BBQ restaurant. The environment is a fusionized atmosphere of club music blasting away with a street stall mood with an old school collection of yesteryears decor. The menu is via QR code. The food is meh. The seasonings are not there and the meat quality is definitely commercial grade. The service here is lacking even though you see plenty of servers walking by but they never stop by to respond to your requests. If you are in for a cheap beer with some grilled skewers this may be up your alley but if you are to look for a place to bring your foodie friends I would think twice. read more

A friend brought me to this place for dinner. Was told it was not too expensive and you indeed get full. However, it ended still being about $40 plus per person.. best to go as a group. Their pitcher beer is super cheap at $10 and the decor has a nice 80's vibe without being too overpowering. They play music videos on their tv screen and sometimes, the music kind of suck, with some Chinese electronic music on repeat. The decor is beautiful with beautiful lights and adding the Christmas decoration enhance the room. THey even have a few private rooms with round table. We saw this place a while ago while at the cat hotel in the same strip mall. We finally were able to return with enough time for lunch. Great ambiance,, very clean, competitive price and decent service. The meal is ordered on an iPad. At last the pictures look like the food delivered. The food was delivered promptly , but it was the end of lunch and there were only a few tables left. We ordered the crispy pork, a variety of skewers, celery and glass noodle and spicy cabbage . All were a great value, but we think the cabbage could have been a larger portion for the $. The Dragon beer was good, it paired with the skewers well. , the selection of alcohol was limited, but adequate, There was only one waitress on duty and she was very busy, we ordered on the iPad, she was available for questions. Love this place! Definitely one of our go to late night spots since it opened! For food, the usual is the pork sausages, beef/lamb skewers, and for sure you have to try the dough drop soup! Also love that dessert is included! Tried the shaved ice, the mango sago and cocktail fruits. Mango sago is definitely the fave! Came here on a Friday night (between 7:30-8PM) with a few friends and I was worried that it was going to be really busy. There was a booth by the entrance for a waitlist but there was no one waiting ahead of us so we were lucky to be seated pretty quickly! There is an ipad they give you to order for the table which was pretty straightforward to use. The prices I would say are pretty average for a skewer spot, and I personally found it to be a bit on the noisier side simply because of the larger groups of people around my table. There are many neon signs around the restaurant, which was also a bit overstimulating for myself. The food itself was great! Absolutely loved the lamb and pork belly skewers, and the chicken skin was super crispy. Overall, everything was well seasoned and there were no complaints there. There is a side bar area where you can choose a small dessert, and also get to make your own small cup of shaved iced, and there were toppings such as mango syrup and condensed milk, and I saw other people had lychee jelly on theirs as well! However, the staff didn't tell us about it, and I only found out through previous reviews from other people. If I didn't search for reviews myself, I never would have known that was there. When you want to pay, you take your bill up to the front counter and pay there. I had previously looked on their website and saw they had a points/rewards program so I signed up for it before going, but I was never asked about it during our visit at all, and they didn't seem to promote it anywhere which was kind of disappointing as I did want to collect reward points for future visits. TIP: there is a post on their instagram page with an amazing promotion where you like the post and show it to the waitress and you can get a 1.5L container beer for $6.99 and a choice of 1 plate (6 skewers) of either beef or lamb skewers for $3.99 (only applicable for one $6.99 1.5L pitcher and one of the $3.99 skewers per table). I was trying to find different skewer places and thought we'd give this a try. I would recommend coming with more than two people, as the portions of other foods are large. We didn't order much, but it was good, and they had dessert available on the other side (closer to the cashier) and drinks to get yourself from the refrigerator up front. The disadvantage is that they mainly speak Mandarin, which we do not speak, but the menu was on the phone, so ordering was easier. The atmosphere, I can't say, as we went in the afternoon so it wasn't loud (unsure how it is at night). Overall, I will come back as there are other foods I'd like to try, but the portions are too big. read more

This restaurant is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Checked out this place for lunch today. I walked in with no expectations and I was pleasantly surprised. First of all the ambiance was pretty cool and vibrant. All ordering is done on the iPad which makes it convenient. We ordered the lamb skewers, beef skewers and beef tendon skewers. All were seasoned well and pretty yummy. We also ordered the fried rice, fried instant noodles, tofu and garlic clams. There was a lot of garlic in the clams and I enjoyed this dish as well. The others were ok. For seven people, the bill came to around $110 pre tip. Not bad. You also get a small complimentary dessert at the end. One per person. You get a choice of mango sago and what I think was some kind of mango mousse. This was a nice touch and added to the dining experience. this is a Chinese northern style BBQ restaurant recently opened in the old location for 渔人码头。 because it is new, it is so popular and when we arrived Friday afternoon 5pm, it's full packed, hugh lineup and we were 13 in the line. Waited for 40 min to get seated. Foods served quickly though. The good part is they have a free shaved ice bar that you can self serve with other desserts, which my kids really enjoy. My friend and I went here to eat during game 7 of Leafs vs Panthers. I had brought my iPad so I could watch the game and asked for the wifi password. The server said the wifi doesn't work today and refused to give out the password. As you can see, this is their iPad for the menu and also POS machine is connected to wifi. She flat out lied. When I asked what are the ingredients in the cocktails because they are in Chinese and I can't read Chinese, she said everything has whiskey. I asked for non whiskey and she said to go to the front of the store to order. Pretty sure their Sex on the Beach is not whiskey based. After we paid and got up to leave,, we saw the dessert aisle and saw people walk to it and asked if it was included and why didn't they tell us. She just said well everyone knows it's free.
