It's been forever since I've been here but after a light afternoon meal, I wanted something familiar and more substantial that would hold me over for the night. I remember that I wasn't to far from here, about 15 minutes so hopped in the car and headed towards HKS. The parking here is getting more and more sparse so be patient! I walked to the food court to see a 20+ person lineup. One by one they made it through all the customers and I finally made it to the front. I went with a 2 meat option of char siu and siu yuk aka bbq pork and roast pork. I was loaded up with bbq meats on top of rice with some greens. They additionally gave me a bowl of soup. Oh yeah, I decided to eat back at my hotel vs eating at the food court. It took about 15 minutes to get through the line and have me packed and off to the races. When I got back to my hotel, I popped it open. Food is still spot on. It's a solid option in Markham. $10 now but worth every penny.

Friend recommended me to try this place during my Toronto visit - and I'm go glad i did. Located in the food court of First Markham Place - so there was plenty of parking available - not really sure on transit friendly, as I toke a Uber Lol. Basically you'll see two line-ups in this food court , my friend called it team red and team yellow, and they honestly both seemed equally as popular, prices were near identical. It is in a food court, so note the noise levels, however tables seemed to be spread nicely. - Note Cash only - there is a ATM nearby if needed. Combo meal for $10 ? - YES PLEASE - generous portions and it was so delicious. Roast pork had a nice crisp to it, soft pork with just enough fat to it - and no where close to overly salty. BBQ pork was sauced and flavored nicely. Had such a nice red glow to it. I definitely will re-visit on my next trip, or hopefully try team yellow as well. But most definitely better then most of our Vancouver spots.

All this for $9.99 + tax. Well worth it.

5 stars all the way. This is one of 2 Chinese bbq spots inside the food court at First Markham Place at Hwy 7 and woodbine. I've been here literally 3 times in the past week. At first I went to their sister or fellow long lineup place callled "Extra" or "Excellent" bbq. I went there first because their line was shorter. And upon these subsequent visits the line was longer each time at HKS bbq. There is a reason for that. This place HKS is substantially better in quality. The price is the same for both places. I usually order 2 items on rice and it is $9.99 + tax. Where can you find a better deal than that nowadays. But that is all the similarities in the 2 places. HKS is 3-4 times better in terms of quality. The meat is more tender and flavourful and less fatty. If coming here in the future, you must choose this place HKS even if the lineup is longer. It is worth the wait. This place is definitely an easy recommendation for all chinese bbq lovers. The price and the quality!!! Oh my!!! There is definitely future visits here for me and my group. Maybe 3 times a week on a regular schedule. lol. I can't get enough of the food and price to quality ratio. It's through the roof. Enough said. Just come and see for yourself.

Really like the duck here. It's more flavorful than the good spots in the US such as Chinatown in NYC. And price is more reasonable. We usually buy a few ducks to take back to NJ. Everything else is good too. Main complaint is the long long wait. Over 30 half on weekdays and even worse on weekends. It may be worth going early in the day and hope for shorter lines.

It's hard to resist coming to the food court at First Markham Place whenever I'm in the area. With so many great choices, it's impossible to have an unsatisfying meal at a great price. One of my favourite spots is HKS Barbecue & Noodles House. Their Chinese BBQ meats are so flavourful and moist, with great prices. I had a combo meal with BBQ Duck and Roast Pork, served with rice and vegetables. It was a very generous portion of deliciousness for only CDN$8.99. If you're in the area, check them out but be prepared to wait in line because this place is very popular but worth the wait!

HKS is still one of the great values for Cantonese BBQ in North America. They still haven't fixed their sign. It still is KS BBQ when you are in front of their stall. You know you are in the right place when you see the line. For under $10, you can get a 2 item bbq with rice. They are very generous with their portions. You can't find anything close pricewise to this in California. Tastewise, they are okay. I like it and will be back when I visit the great white north again.

It's in a food court so zero ambiance Lol Parking isn't great. It's like shopping at Costco. Just wait until someone else is leaving. You will get parking eventually But the food was great especially for the price. This I give 4.5 stars for. It's not supposed to be that busy at 3pm on a Tuesday afternoon! But there is a big lineup. It's about 30 minutes and I get my order. $20.32 cash only so 20.30 for bbq pork on rice and bbq pork & duck on rice. I took the half star off cause the veggie is cabbage!! Anyways the bbq itself is really good. The duck was moist, good flavour and the bbq was lean (had one small fatty piece) and juicy. It's worth the wait for me. I'd pay $30 for the same thing at my usually haunts downtown. With better vegetables but for the price and quality, it can't be beat. And yes I want to try their competition there. That is next

This is a very popular spot inside the food court at First Markham Place that is well known for their roasted pork. It's a convenient place to stop for a boxed meal that is super cheap if you have the time to wait depending on what time and day you go. The line was much longer when we came on Sunday around 1 and was much shorter on a Monday around 1:30. Each boxed meal comes with soup. The skin on the roast pork was very crispy. Roast duck had great flavor. Their competitor (extra bbq house) is 2 stalls down and their line was also long but not quite as long as HK's.

A whole meal for under $10! The lines can get long for this spot, so I would definitely recommend going early and bringing cash. There is an ATM nearby but it will charge you a $1.75 fee. This is located in a food court, so there is plenty of seating, but you'll likely be surrounded by a lot of families with children running around. You can definitely take it to go to eat elsewhere if you wanted to as well. I really can't complain about a meal that is this cheap and very tasty. There's a line for good reason! I would definitely come back and buy extra to take home for leftovers!

Line at 11:30 AM on a Wednesday!

Solid roast meats. Is it the best? Up for debate, but definitely worth a trip. On our trip to Toronto, we decided to stop by First Markham Place with 1 goal in mind - Visit HKS BBQ & Noodle House! Having read that they have some of the best roast meats in the GTA, we just had to seek them out. First, location. OK, First Markham Place is quite the monstrosity of a strip mall. In fact, it's one of the largest I've ever seen, with seemingly a restaurant everywhere you turn. However, within the mall inside lays the food court. I've read reviews where people said it's hard to find, but we actually found it within 5 minutes of stepping in, but it depends on where you step in. If you want to make your quickest bee line to the food court, enter through the main mall entrance that has a big "First Markham Place" sign, which I believe is Main Entrance C. Once you get in, it's not difficult to find your way to the food court through a series of right or wrong turns. At the food court, if you're here during prime eating hours, you'll clearly notice 2 long lines - 1 for HKS and the other for its competitor 2 stalls down. Yes, there's a serious roast meats stare down going on in the food court and, honestly, neither is losing because they apparently sell out of everything by some point every evening, as we witnessed when we went back at 7pm that same day. So, what's on the menu? Glorious roasted meats!!! HKS has about 20 different meat combinations that you can order - all pretty much sitting on top of white rice and vegetables and served with a side of soup. We ordered the following: 10 - Chicken in Soy Sauce and Roasted Pork on Rice 16 - Three Items on Rice (Roasted Pork, BBQ Pork, Roasted Duck) Verdict? Good. Have I had better? Yes. Having lived in NYC all of my life, I've traversed every Chinatown, street, alley known to man in the boroughs seeking out the best roast meats and I've had more than a few lifetimes worth of roast meats in my system so it's tough to impress me when it comes to this food. HOWEVER, it was solid here still. The roasted pork and BBQ pork were a bit on the lean side for me. We didn't think to ask for the fattier meats, which we typically do in NYC, thinking that they would give us it. Mistake on our part. The skin of the roasted pork was crispy though and the food was tasty, but some of the meats were lean. I'm sure they would have given us fattier cuts if we asked, so don't make our mistake and ask for it! FYI, we arrived at around 11:30 AM on a random Wednesday and the line was about 8 deep, but, by the time we left, it was easily 20-25 deep, so you know inventory runs out quick. Also, there was plenty of seating in the cafeteria so you don't have to go table hunting here. Is HKS worth a visit? Sure. Can never turn down decent roast meats. Is there better out there? Probably.

We came here today for lunch around 2pm and ended up waiting 30 mins. The line is consistently long. The boy and I ordered the same thing from HKS and its neighbor, Extra BBQ. We ordered -roast duck (both tasted the same. Slight advantage over Extra because they provided additional sauce since both duck was mild tasting. But HKS pieces had more meat) -cha siu (I prefer HKS over Extra because Extra uses some type of cooking wine in their marinade that I don't like) - roast pork (both were very juicy and the skin was crispy. However, Extra's meat was more flavorful like they used more seasoning). Meal was affordable and delicious regardless.

Lucky when I get the leg - lol

This is still one of our favorite spots for cheat day eats. The portions are smaller, and the price is now $9.00 + tax (two-meat combo), but still a good deal. The service is consistently friendly, which is a bonus. I find the rice is wet and sticky on every visit, not sure if this is the way they make it, or if they're just rushed. It kind of ruins the overall taste, but the bbq meats are tender. We went a few times during off-peak hours and the meats were dried out, so even though line-ups are longer, we try to go when it's busy. * Cold herbal tea/soymilk or soup is included * Cash only

Got lucky and received a duck leg - haha!
    Henry C.

The lunch boxes are smaller now, and the price is $8.99, but it still includes a drink. I rotate between this spot and the other one nearby. I will say that the service here is a lot friendlier! Portions are good, though the rice is a hit/miss in being too wet!

The BBQ pork skin was very crispy. I enjoyed the chicken rice as well. The duck had quite a lot of bone made it difficult to eat.
