The menu has fried chicken, fusion pasta dishes, tonkatsu, hamburg steak, omurice, Korean style pizza, tteokbokki, traditional Korean dishes as well as an extensive drink menu. The space has a modern, cozy design. I stopped by Ehwa Uptown on a Sunday night with a party of 3 people. Service was friendly and we ordered 4 dishes to share among the 3 of us. Menu can be viewed on your phone via QR code. Best to share everything as the portion sizes were huge! Food wise, we ordered the following: - Pork belly chili cream pasta (spaghetti with pork belly, truffle oil, and cheese in signature cream sauce) - Chili cream hamburg steak (juicy beef and pork patty, chilli pesto, truffle oil, and cream sauce) - Spaghetti and clam soup - spaghetti with clam, dried chili, butter and garlic in a signature vongole sauce, soup style - Crispy boneless fried chicken (comes with fries too!) Overall all the dishes were tasty! The fried chicken with fries was addictive and both the pork belly pasta and hamburg steak were quite heavy. The spaghetti and clam soup was a different version of the dried pasta dish which was unique. We definitely couldn't finish everything and had to bring home leftovers! Came here Friday night with one other friend and thought the overall experience was just okay. The interior is cute! and we managed to get seated immediately, which was nice because it got really busy after. We ordered the beef tarare bibimbap and it was good, but side dishes that came with it were not the best. Portions were quite big though! Ordered bulgogi hansang, pork belly hansang, and kanbungi (spicy garlic chicken). Hansang is 'set' dish (comes with rice and banchan). We both are very satisfied with the food! Enough said! Comes for the vibes, stay for the food! Came here with a reservation on a weeknight and the place was full. Every single table was occupied and service was quite slow. Our food took a long time to come out. We also saw that other tables got bowls of popcorn and shrimp chips but realized our server had forgotten to give us some. The food was pretty good here and is a different menu/ vibe from the Ehwa downtown locations. Here's what we got and what I thought of it: Honeycomb Makguli 3/5 - It comes with a piece of honeycomb per order. It does sweeten the makguli but I would probably pass on this next time. It was hard to get the honeycomb piece to consume. Combination of Four FLavours Chicken in One 5/5 - Fried chicken served with four flavours of soy sauce with green oion, supreme yannyum, wasabi mayo and corn cheese. Absolutely loved the variety of this and was so good for sharing. Rosé Tteokbokki 5/5 - Korean style ricecakes in a rose sauce. We added glass noodles for an additional $3. Super creamy, spicy and chewy ricecakes. Budaejjiae (army stew) 5/5 - Loved this, was like a warm hug. Super spicy and came with spam, sausage, kimchi, vegetables. Chungyang Cream Pasta 3/5 - Can skip this. Creamy pasta sauce but the pork is dry on top and didn't really compliment each other well. Caribi Cheese Gui 3/5 - Another one of those dishes that you can probably skip. It was okay but nothing too special. Ehwa Mini Salad 3.5/5 - A good balance since everything else is so spicy. Spaghetti with clam (on a hot pot with soup) 4/5 - It's good and the soup was flavourful. It's spicy but had lots of clam pieces that made it so good for sharing! Glad to have checked this place out. I've been to Ehwa a few times, usually for a late night snack and drinks. It's a cozy Korean spot that stays open late, with friendly staff, good service, and a nice interior design. The drinks are great, and the food is pretty good overall, though some dishes have been hit or miss during my visits. They also give you free popcorn and shrimp chips too, which is a bonus. The prices are reasonable and definitely worth visiting. read more

Walked in to Ehwa Uptown on a random Thursday night, and the restaurant was already quite busy during dinner time! We were seated close to the entrance, and it can get a bit chilly during the winter with the cold draft coming in. The red and blue vibe inside was beautiful and mesmerizing, but you can't really see what you're eating bc it is so dark lol. Luckily, later they provided a little lamp for the table ^^ All the items we ordered had a kick to it. If you enjoy spicy food (and drinking!), this is definitely the place for you. Unfortunately, I don't eat any spicy, so I only enjoyed very little portions of the food. The most spicy item we had was the Pork Belly Creamy Spaghetti Pasta; it was no doubt super creamy and tasty (and spicy lol). The English description on the menu did NOT indicate that it had spicy green chili in it. We asked the server why this pasta dish was so spicy! The server said that the first Korean characters(s) of the menu item mentioned spicy chili but failed to mention that in the English description. Mystery solved :p My friend also ordered a bowl of yellow fruits from the menu, and it came in a bowl of ice! It was mainly canned peaches and a few more slices of pineapple, orange, and banana! The space is inviting, colourful and modern. I believe Ehwa uptown is advertised as fusion Korean. We came here for lunch. We saw maybe 6 tables come and go while we were there. The server was a young Korean man who was timid but professional. He helped point out which parking spots we can park in right outside the restaurant. My friend really enjoyed her spicy seafood pasta. It came with a lot of seafood but squid came in a big piece uncut. Crab leg also came as a whole. I enjoyed my spicy vongole pasta too. It had a good amount of clams and the flavor was bang on! We also ordered grilled pork belly lunch set to share. While the pork belly itself tasted good, the side dishes and seaweed soup were lack lustre. Small things they can improve on: - The dishes all came at different times so my pasta got cold while waiting for my friend's food. - The tong and scissors he brought us were dirty. - Music came on 1.5 hours after they opened. Still awaiting their liquor license but they are already getting quite popular and busy on a Saturday night when we visited. We made a reservation to get a seat just in case and got a table for four. The interior is nicely decorated but quite dim. I love their downstairs bathroom neon pink walls haha. We ended up ordering the Hamburg steak omurice, pork belly chili spaghetti, beef tartare bibimbap and an injeolmi pizza. There was obviously some miscommunication in the kitchen but we got served the Hamburg steak instead of hamburg omurice and then the server kept on wanting to take back our pork belly pasta as well. But all that aside, the food was pretty decent. I liked the pasta the best. It was spicier than expected but the truffle notes and chili went very well together. The Hamburg omurice was just okay. We found the rice to be too one note flavour of ketchup. But the egg was nice and fluffy. The bibimbap was a bit disappointing. Not many flavours although very refreshing. All I could really taste was sesame oil and the rare sliver of pear. The injeolmi pizza flavouring was amazing. However, the layers separate a lot. The cheese and topping would slice off the pizza base and then it felt like we were eating a flatbread or roti... Overall, visit was decent and I highly recommend the pork belly chili pasta! Staff were friendly but perhaps understaffed when restaurant is at full capacity. We asked for more water and they took our carafe away and we never saw it again for the whole evening haha. read more

Friends and I decided to hit up Ehwa since we heard the downtown location was good and this location was very close to my friend's place. Ambiance gives a lounge type feel with slightly dark tones and neon lights. I could definitely see this being a chill date spot or just a fun night with friends. They don't have their liquor license yet but are waiting on it so the crowd wasn't as big but I'm sure it will be soon. Food was good and arrived quickly and hot. However they did mess up one of my friend's orders and quickly rectified it while also allowing us to keep the dish as service. Portion sizes are not huge but filling enough for us 3 women. I had the cream pasta with pork belly. It tasted fine however it wasn't anything cray as they just piled up some grilled pork belly on top of the pasta. Came here once for drinks as it's a great vibe and hangout space for groups. On my second visit we tried Ttuekbaegi pasta which was surprisingly very flavourful. I was a bit disappointed that the Tonkatsu omurice didn't have the signature slit open or a rose design. Service wasn't bad considering he was a new waiter. Happened to be walking past and noticed a new restaurant I. The Yonge and Shepard area. With so many Korean restaurants already filling the area, Ehwa Uptown does a great job differentiating themselves with elevated fusion dishes. I got the beef tar tar and vongole pasta. They were both delicious. The flavours were all on point and with elements of Korean, French, and Italian (though Korea already has its own version of beef tar tar). It might have been a bit on the salty side but when eaten all together the flavours coalesce into something wonderful. They were currently in the soft opening - just opened on July 12 - so it wasn't busy, but I'm certain it will begin to pick up. There were a few items on the menu which are noted as still to come at this time and their liquor licence is also still coming but once these are in place, the area's regular clientele will likely love it. Also, as there were few people the servers were very attentive and polite. The interior is somewhat futuristic with led lighting enveloping the area in a variety of colours. I think the theme was to be similar to a little bistro as when they set up your table they will bring a small led lamp (faux candle type) for your table making it feel truly feel like you could be transported somewhere else. Overall, it was a great experience. I would recommend giving it a try if you're a bit adventurous with fusion cuisine and like Korean food. read more

I recently visited with friends for dinner, and we were all taken aback by the amazing decor and atmosphere. It's really retro, and the colors are so eye-catching. We ordered from both the Afternoon and Night menu, which was nice because there is so much variety between both menus. We ordered the Pork Belly Hansang, Crispy Boneless Chicken and Spam Egg Rice, as well as Soju to share. The food was great! I was really pleased with the variety and portion size of the pork belly meal set, and the chicken was just too good. I will definitely revisit to try more of their menu. Came here with a friend for dinner. Ordered the Rose tteokboki with pork belly, Mayak Oksusu and Vongole Pasta. Originally we wanted to add Kim bap as a side to dip into the Rose tteokboki but they didn't have the item. The tteokboki was not that spicy and mayak oksusu were good. The vongole was actually pasta in stew which is a bit weird to be honest because we thought it was a regular clam cream/ olive oil sauce type of pasta. Perhaps we just didn't order the right items off the menu so only 3 stars.
