I was highly impressed by The Drainco service. Especially Mark L. who unclogged our sewer line at our community property. One of our units had a back flow of sewer water in his main floor powder room. He called about 2am Sunday morning. Mark L. responded and being considerate of the other townhouse residence he start working first thing in the morning. He located the blockage and snaked the grain to the main sewer line of the property which was over 150 feet of snaking. He then snaked the main sewer line another 150 feet where a huge blockage was located. I think where other drain specialist would have given up, Mark L. was persistent to pass the huge blockage which he did after several attempts. After the blockage passed we could hear water flowing from three other buildings that potentially would have had back flow in other units had Mark not solved the problem. He was friendly and his charges were more than reasonable. As the HOA president, I will be adding The Drainco to our vendor list and if we have any future problems I will be requesting they send out Mark L. to solve our problem. I have used this company twice before and for the most part I do not have an issue with the actual plumbing services provided and this is why I chose them a third time when I needed an emergency service. The problem I had this time was due to a pricing issue that I frankly felt was deceitful. I apologize in advance for the long review, but felt it was important to include all the details. Prior to using them this time, I had similar services done in my home. These included snaking my kitchen drain and my bathroom. Both times the plumber provided an accurate price up front when I asked them the cost and completed the job without problems and I gladly paid without disagreement. This time...another story. My building has old pipes and I had a built up clog in the pipes. The plumber quoted me $225 if he had to take the toilet off. Fine no problem, do what you have to do I tell him. My issue was when he presented me the final bill later. $300. As he writes the bill he says, "They say I have to charge you for the stairs." I say what stairs? (I live on a downstairs first floor unit and have never previously been charged for stairs. He says, "The ones outside, 5 of them. It's $55." At this point I am frustrated but it is 8:45 pm and I had expected this job to be done way before it actually was. I tell him I just want to be done and tell myself I will deal with this later. If you can do math, the actual plumbing portion I was charged was $245, not the $225, but I won't even complain about that. I called the company the following morning and spoke with Rheanna. I told her my issue with the pricing and that I had never been charged for stairs before (probably because those plumbers didn't think a few steps were such a hassle that required the extra charge). Her response? A snarky, "oh well you got discount then before, you should have been charged more." She proceeds to tell me their website says they charge for anything more than 3 steps. I counted these steps and including the top, it was exactly 4. Not 4 giant steps, just four average sized steps on a walkway. Worth $55? Doubtful. I explain to her that these stairs are a few steps outside on the walkway inside my building and not up to a second floor unit. I tell her I could understand the charge if they had in fact charged me the prior two times for the same type service or even if this current plumber had told me upfront instead of sneaking it in at the end. Frankly if I had known, I would have told the plumber to use the other gate that goes all the way around the building, but a route with no stairs to get to my unit. She pretty much was unsympathetic. I also told her the plumber cracked the cover to the toilet bolts and never bothered to tell me and did a sloppy job re-caulking the toilet ( I now have to go buy caulk and redo it myself). I noticed this when I went back to clean around the toilet. They told me they would replace the cover. I was told she would speak to the owner, but frankly I am not holding my breath. Someone was suppose to drop off a replacement bolt cover and come look at these stairs, but that hasn't happened. This enough for me to say NO for any future business. I feel that folks out there considering giving this company business should be aware of this extra charge and take that into consideration when using them, otherwise they will be getting a surprising add on to their plumbing costs without prior knowledge. ***update: I see that the owner of this business has posted a comment trying to make amends. This is my response: I feel that your efforts are being made as damage control for my negative, but honest review. When I originally called after having this issue, I was told they would speak to the owner and call me back. I waited a week before posting this review in an effort to see how they would respond, and initially received no response. It wasn't until after I posted this review that they attempted to call me to resolve the issue. They called me only once, not multiple times as they indicated, and it was two weeks after my initial complaint was made. Customer service should be proactive not reactive. read more

I am amazed that this company has 5 stars in Yelp. I guess that when it comes to a simple service, they might be alright. But as with everything, it is when problems arise when you can see how good or bad a business is. These guys aren't that good... In my case, it took them two visits within the same week to fix a clog. It would have been alright if it wasn't because of the blaming and their generally dismissive attitude when talking on the phone for the second time. The blaming is "but you did that" referring to how it was clogged. Well, how does that matter if that happened *before* you were supposed to unclog it for the first time? You just didn't unclog it well! I'd give it two (and a half?) stars just because the technician was excellent to deal with, they aren't very expensive and I think that if things go swift then they could be satisfying. The guy told me that I will get a long warranty however after 2 month the same problem came back. I called and talked to the same lady who helped me the first time. She wanted to charge me a FULL PRICE again to come back and unclog the drain. I said this is not fair then she said she'll give me only a 10% discount. This is absolutely not okay. We have called them several times and are essentially satisfied with their work. The reason we don't give five stars: one of the technicians who has come seems slightly incompetent. I don't want to give his name because I wouldn't want him to lose his job. He has been to our house at least 4 times (because there is a 30 day warrantee on the work). She was patient as I told her what went wrong but she was quick to resolve the situation. TO ALL WOMEN OUT THERE WHO NEED A PLUMBER: Robin (The Female Plumber) at the Drain Co. will make everything better! I have never felt the need to write a review on Yelp. I honestly don't enjoy doing such things. I've used Yelp many times, but this is the first time I've run into a business that I felt truly deserved the time of writing a review! I had tried finding a plumber for a week and a half by getting recommendations from male friends who I felt knew more about plumbing than I did. I even waited five hours for a plumber who never showed. Plus, I spent the week talking to plumbing companies (for a basic kitchen sink clog) who seemed to think because I was a woman I should be overcharged and treated condescendingly (one company said the minimum would be $120). Finally I decided to use Yelp and found The Drain Co. When I called yesterday, I spoke to a woman who answered all of my questions and then told me it would just be $65 and possibly $18 if I needed a junior machine. I was elated! Then the best part, Robin (a female plumber) came today and after 20 minutes, my sink ran faster than it ever has. She took the time to answer all my questions. She treated me like an equal and she even told me I didn't need to spend the additional $18. She saved me money! How many plumbers do that?! She was quick, kind and informative. Am I the only person who has a backed up drain at the most inconvenient time? I have had to call the Drain Co on more than one occasion. Once, I had a houseful of people, and it was the day of my husband's funeral, and my toilets would not flush. Drain Co to the rescue! They came out on a Saturday with short notice and saved us all. Another time, I had some family from out of state visiting. They were being helpful in the kitchen and peeled potatoes then ran the peelings through the garbage disposal. Bad move! My sink was backed up. Again, Drain Co to the rescue! Another time, my bathtub was draining slow and my toilet backing up. My house is 60+ years old and some roots were getting into the main line. Had a great experience with this company. Know of the owner from the networking group "Networking Plus". Have never used the company before now (6/22/16). One of my client's was in a sticky situation, her usual plumber would not go out and examine why her hot water heater was not working. My client, Jazmin Gaite of Manila Manor 1, 2, & 3, called me and asked for immediate help. She owns elder care homes and can not have this problem. I personally called for Jazmin and spoke with Star. I told her that the hot water heater was not heating the water in one of Jazmin's houses. She agreed to send someone out. The only problem was that they would not be able to get there until the next day. So I said, "okay." However, to my pleasant surprise, Star was able to send someone the very same day. The issue was that the pilot light was not lit. A very simple problem. They lit it and the hot water heater started working properly. There was nothing wrong with the unit. It was human error. When asked about the charge, Star says, "no charge." WOW, they made a service call, conducted a thorough inspection of the hot water heater to make sure nothing else was wrong/broken and would not take a dime for the call. She said, no problem, this is the type of company we are. In today's world this is unheard of. As I am sure anyone reading this now knows THE DRAIN CO. is the only company that Jazmin or myself will call when we have a drain problem. I'm one of those people that always use Yelp but has never written a review. So this is the 2nd review ever that I'm writing for a company, primarily because I was soooo happy with them. We had a clogged toilet, shower, and tub. I had another plumbing company the day before and said we have roots in our pipes and the only solution is to cut our bathroom marble tiles, cut the cement underneath, and get to the pipe where the roots were. He said there is nothing else we could do. It was going to be expensive, not to mention all the mess. So I checked Yelp and called The Drain Co. First of all, they called me back first thing in the morning (since I'd called them at night), the person on the phone was friendly, and the;y scheduled someone to come the same day. Blas Payan showed up right on time (I was actually stuck in LA traffic and showed up 15 min late, but he waited for me). He was friendly, easy to talk to, clean, and explained to me what he was going to do. He used a long snake line with blades at the end to cut through all the roots. He used the snake to go through our pipes all the way to the street (to make sure everything was clear). I was SO happy he got our bathrooms working again. Granted, every 6 months or so I need to have them come back and cut through the roots again, but I much rather do that than tear up our entire marble floor. The cost was so great that I couldn't wait to write the check and get them out of there (thinking they might have made a mistake). Blas was there over an hour and checked every sink/tub to make sure they were all working before he left. I'm never calling any other plumber again. They are it for me. read more

I am so grateful to all of the fellow Yelpers for helpful reviews which lead me to go with The Drain Co. I cannot scream out loud enough - DO NOT GO WITH ANYBODY ELSE!!!! Call The Drain Company!!! It just doesn't get any better. This is exactly how every business should be run. My nightmare started on Christmas with a backed up toilet. This is the only toilet in the house. Neither the bathtub, nor the kitchen sink or dishwasher were backing up, which lead me to believe that it was just a severe clog in the branch main (line), not the actual main line. Shouldn't be a big deal. Turned into a nightmare and a stressful situation when I had to deal with 3 other plumbers that I found through Google, before I finally turned to Yelp and found The Drain Co. Rotor-Rooter said they could make it out before 5 p.m. on the 27th. I called at 4 and asked where they were. They said I was next on their list and they were waiting for a technician. At 6:30 they called and told me they would have to re-schedule for tomorrow. I told them to forget it. I called another plumber, Pioneer Plumbing, who said they could come within the hour, which was great. The man who showed up was not a plumber, but a con artist. He tried to sell me the hydro jet cleaning for over $600. I told him that I knew that it was unnecessary since I just had it done at my other house and this was not a problem with the main, rather a simple clog. He snaked the line through the toilet, without removing the toilet, it didn't work. I don't think he's ever "plumbed" before. That cost me $135 which I paid just so I wouldn't have to listen to any more lies about what expensive services I need. The next day I called yet another plumber, they were solidly booked. Found The Drain Co on Yelp and found the reviews very helpful. I decided that they were the company for me. I was completely at the end of my rope and they came to the rescue! My review echoes what others are saying on here: I called, left a message, within 15 min Vicky called me back. So warm, professional, kind, HUMAN. I scheduled an appointment. They said they would come between 12 and 2 and offered to call first so I could meet them at the house. By 12:20, George was there. He was everything you need in your life when you're dealing with a clogged drain and dishonest plumbers. He got the job done, in about half an hour. No complaints, no b.s., no lies. Just elbow grease, knowledge of his work, and honesty. The price was less than what I paid that con artist the night before. George explained what possibly may have caused the clog and how to prevent it in the future. I'd like to thank Star, the owner, for running her company like this. This is exactly how I do business and it gets so tiresome to deal with rip-offs and liars when you need something done. I wish The Drain Company nothing but the best and want to thank them!!! We have been a continuous user of drain cleaning services since we bought our home in 2000. The house has a beautiful tree right near the front door 3 feet away from where the main sewer line for the house connects through a double coupling to the main line to the street. The tree towers over the front and really makes the "curb appeal" for the house spectacular. However it's roots continuously grow through the seams in the coupling. The first few years we called drain cleaners every 3-4 months and tried several services. Each time was a tug-of-war because their price would escalate when they showed up significantly above what they quoted on the phone. They had all kinds of reasons: bad clean-out location at ground, plants too close, electrical outlet not close, roof vent location too far, surcharge for lifting the rig, surcharge for fuel etc... It always started at $99 and ended up between $159 (Roto-Masters) and $249 (Mike Diamond). We had the line scoped with a camera and identified the root problem at the double coupling next to the tree. Re-lining wasn't an option as our problem wasn't in the main line but at the coupling. The only solution was to dig it up which would have killed the tree and ruined the look of the house. Finally we replaced the sewer lines in the house and front yard with oversized ABS to eliminate every other issue except the tree. We installed clean-outs within 8 feet on either side of the coupling, one in the front wall with a cement brick path through the plants, the other in the front lawn at ground level. We even installed a dedicated 20 amp outlet by the front door for the snake rigs. It was expensive but at least we figured our quarterly drain cleanings would be only $99. Boy were we mistaken. They still tried to charge more once they showed up. We tried lots of services, mostly from the Yellow Pages or internet but it was always a hassle to haggle over price. We concluded that's just how the industry worked. Last night at 8 PM our shower backed up. I called two services to schedule a cleaning first thing in the morning. One had a voice mail and never called back, the other Mike Diamond quoted $99 base plus charges as applicable, but they couldn't show up until 1 PM the next day. I pushed for an earlier window because I was calling the night before, the best he could do was 8 AM - 1 pm. It was like calling the cable company! Mike Diamond has more trucks than any other service, they charge more than anybody else, and all they can give you is a 5 hour window? This morning at 8 AM I went on Yelp and found The Drain Co. After reading the reviews I called and left a message. Just like I'd read, Vicky called me back in about 4-5 minuets and had a truck out within the hour. Rick showed up, looked at the job, quoted $89 (I was pleasantly surprised), and within 10 minuets we were clear. No hassles, no haggling, no gouging, no mess, punctual, polite and reasonably priced. We liked the service so much I called Vicky to schedule a Service Contract for clean-outs quarterly to maintain the line. I've always had pretty good luck with Yelp. But this time it was outstanding. The service I received from the Drain Co. was so fantastic It was way beyond what every other drain cleaning service offers. And believe me, at 3-4 times a year over 12 years we've tried them all.
