Though the experience had a minor hiccup or two, they did a great job. I considered giving them 4 stars for the hiccups, but the service man was too polite. I called them and received a third-party call center. The teleworker made sure I agreed to the $150/hour overtime charge that Drain Specialists charge on weekends. I agreed. The job was issued to a plumbing tech, Ken, who called me immediately and was at my house within 15 minutes of my making the inital call. Unlike a previous reviewer, my guy did not take off his shoes or have shoe covers. I think if I had asked him to remove them he would have. Instead I threw down some old towels and made a path for him to the bathroom. He had the drain cleared out in about ten minutes and took a few more to clean up the work area. Very fast, I thought. They charge a minimum of 1 hour no matter how fast they complete the task. I imagine that's standard business practice. I did ask if he would clean out my kitchen pipes as well since I figured I had him for an hour, but he said another plumbing line is an added cost. It was worth a try. The tech wrote up an invoice for $160. When I told him I agreed to $150 on the phone to the call center guy, he made a call to the company owner and they honored the $150. Be warned, however, the actual cost as of this date appears to be $160/hour on Saturdays. The serviceman was very respectful and polite throughout the interaction. read more

We moved into a newly renovated old house in November, and two weeks in had a backed up floor drain in the basement. We called another company who came highly recommended and unfortunately did not have a great experience with them - enter The Drain Specialists. We called them for a second opinion after being told we were going to have to dig by the first company, and they came out first thing the next morning. Eldon got the job done in a fraction of the time (including getting the first guy's equipment 'unstuck'). We were much happier with our service and bill this time round! Flash forward another month and a half, the floor drain was backing up again. We panicked thinking we might have a more complicated and pricey problem. The Drain Specialists sent out Julian just a couple of hours after we called and he was fantastic. He cleared out an extra 50 ft past how far we cleared out the first time, and even courtesy scoped some of our interior pipes to rule out a problem with them. (We also had a plumber out around the same time to fix a related issue and are really hoping we've got the issue fully resolved!) What was most significant to us - The Drain Specialists did not charge us for a new visit but just did a continuation of the bill from the initial visit. If I could give more stars I would. I was actually referred to the drain specialist after calling another company who said if anyone could help me it would be them and that they even call them when they can't figure out a plumbing issue. We had already had bulldog out to try to snake our shower drain. After what I could only describe as minimal effort bulldog told us we'd have to just rip out our shower to see what's going on under there. We were given an estimate of $4,400 which would have been just the starting point and obviously didn't include what it would have cost us to get it all fixed afterwards. After stressing out and not eating or sleeping for the whole weekend I decided to get a second opinion. Joe arrived from the drain specialist after 30 min of calling and I knew right away he wasn't going to give up easily. Now he did say the plumbing is a little wonky under the shower but he was skilled enough to navigate his snake out the drain to clear the blockage after only being there for less than 20 min. Also for price comparison bulldog charged us $279 just to try to snake it while the drain specialist charged $125 and actually fixed the problem. I am getting on here solely to leave a review for these guys after our recent stellar experience. You never know what you are going to get when you have to call in the experts, especially for something like plumbing. At a minimum, I expected to wait a few hours, have them show up and fix the problem in 20 minutes, hand me a $250+ bill and leave me wondering "what did they even do? I wish I knew so I could just fix it myself next time". We had a fully clogged kitchen drain that I wasn't able to resolve with a snake, as I had in the past. I was terrified at the thought of what sort of issue was lurking down there. Another plumber, who doesn't do the kind of work that we needed done, referred me to the Drain Specialists. They showed up in just over an hour from the time I called, fixed the problem in 30-40 minutes, explained what happened and how to avoid running into the same problem again in the future. Our service tech, I wish I could remember his name, was very friendly, professional and clearly knew what he was doing. Possibly the best part, the bill was only about $150! 7/20/2024: If you have a clogged drain pipe and need quick service, then these are your guys! Another plumbing company (whom I had booked for service when my drain first became slow to empty) highly recommended The Drain Specialists for expedited service. (How complementary is that?!) The Drain Specialists strive for same day service. I called late on a Friday afternoon and they came out first thing Monday morning, which was fine by me. A clogged kitchen sink drain is an inconvenience, not an utter emergency, and I didn't need to pull in a plumber on call. (A clogged sewer pipe is a different story!) Rate was $120 for the first 30 minutes. If the service goes beyond 30 minutes, then the rate is $160 per hour. I was billed for 1 hr. The plumber was courteous and informative. And, I was delighted to once again have a kitchen sink that drained properly! I would utilize their services again in a heartbeat! read more

My main line was clogged with thick muck, and rooter 911 snaked it twice then said it had to be hydro-jetted for almost $700. Just to be safe and see if we could get it done cheaper, we called the drain specialist. An awesome guy came and did something real quick and said the previous guy from rooter 911 had actually unclogged it. Drain specialist knows that your money is important and want to do what's best for you financially. Even if it had to have been hydro-jetted, it still only would have been about $480 give or take. They have the best prices and have morals. Use them!!! read more

Well we all hate to wake up to a wet floor in the basement; I had water coming up from the water closet drain and running all over. The Drain Specialists were able to come out within about 3 hours, discovered the blockage outside and cleared it in minutes. He also inspected the rest of the pipe and made sure everything was flowing properly. Final cost was a pleasant surprise being about half what I expected and we got a free education about "flushable wipes"..... Don't use them! read more

The plumber, Cory, was professional and friendly and had the drain cleared in no time. I have used gold seal in the past for the same problem and they charged me $350.
