Their CEO has said, "We don't hire people to bake brownies, we bake brownies to hire people." It also doesn't hurt that their brownies are DELICIOUS. All of their products are made without preservatives in a verified peanut-free facility. All of their products are also certified kosher. Total crowd pleasers, for sure. And even if you've never heard of Greyston before, you've probably eaten one of their brownies without knowing. They're in some of Ben & Jerry's most-loved ice cream flavors and served on Delta flights. My colleague and I have also seen them sold at Whole Foods. I love Greyston's products and mission. With her chocolate, the owner bakes her own delicious 'Compassion Chocolate Cookies' that are filled with scrumptious dark chocolate chunks, other pastries and her hot chocolate- which is to-die for. Since I was off from work this week but not traveling, I wanted to take advantage of my time by hitting up some local spots I had sitting in my bookmarks. Hence, I made Seth's a priority on my list. Located on one of the main commercial strips in Larchmont village, Seth's is not a large space but the white color scheme cast against the neatly packaged baked goods make the bakery seem nice and open. When I arrived they had most of their offerings on display: brownies, two loaf varieties (the aforementioned crumb cake and sticky bun), as well as some cookies. I picked up a few items, notably three of their brownie varieties and the sticky bun loaf. The brownies were great - he had four flavors, and since I could get 3 for $18, I got the fudge, toasted almond, and "hot chocolate" which had red pepper flakes. I really liked the consistency of the brownies - they were fudgey while also maintaining their consistency while eating. I thought the sticky bun loaf was great - think of it as thee buns baked together and topped with nuts and all that syrup goodness. I also tried the famous crumb cake which I was surprised to see was not like a traditional crumb. The cake portion was more like a cinnamon roll (in that it broke away) and the crumb top was not overly sweet. It was familiar yet unique - I thought it was a great alternative to the monotony of traditional crumb cake. Seth is super friendly and welcoming, and overall I had a great experience trying out his baked goods. I look forward to my next visit!

Cob's Bread is a new bakery that we were introduced to by our local Library in Scarsdale, who handed out coupons to clients offering a free loaf of bread from Cob's. Cob's sells croissants, baguettes, scones, danishes, cinnamon buns, rolls, various seeded wheat loaves in all shapes and sizes. The fresh baked loaves are sliced individually for you at your request.
