Items are not fresh. The pastry seems mass produced and stale. i do not know if this is the way it is stored in the case, or an actual recipe they use. Cakes are moist due to a sugar water/simple syrup added. So the cakes are actually wet versus fresh and moist. I tried the mini cakes multiple times and none taste how they should (ie, chocolate doesnt taste like chocolate, strawberry tastes artificial etc). Lastly, the italian rainbow cookies do not have the signature almond flavor that the rainbow cookies should have. they flavor they DO have is unpleasant. They are in a great location, but really need to make fresher items. Most LOOK good, but the taste is not there and it isn't exactly cheap. read more

Stopped here on a Sunday morning to grab some take-backs for the boys in the form of cannoli and back and white cookies. There was a wait in front of me and two pretty rude non-allied customers who thought they were more important than the next: one a housewife who obviously had nowhere to be but convinces herself she's busy; the other a yielding woman who was commiserating with the first woman talking badly on the bakery in front of the staff. Anyway - usual bakery look with cases and some seating to eat. Staff is friendly, I ordered a couple cannoli and some black and white cookies and headed out. They have made such beautiful cakes for me, work so quickly when I contact them last minute, and are genuinely so kind. The staff is very nice, prices are reasonable. Breads are fresh. But that's it. The Rainbow cookies do not have the traditional almond flavor you find in a traditional italian rainbow cookie. They had a strange taste, not very sweet. I don't know if this is a specific recipe to this bakery, but i would not recommend if you are looking for a traditional rainbow cookie. The flavor was not very good in general, even without the almond/jam flavorings. The mini cakes are very cute and a nice way to sample the variety, but they use some sort of liquid syrup to keep these cakes moist, and they fall apart. the chocolate mini cakes do not have a strong chocolate flavor because of whatever they are using to keep the cakes moist. I got a strawberry cheesecake but it was bland and very mealy. Lastly, the danish seem mass produced, and a bit stale. Very sticky and need to be microwaved to soften up. These do not taste like they are made daily. This is not a quality bakery, but everything looks very pretty. read more

I would first like to say that anyone who spends their money here should instantly complain and get their money back. The pastries here were absolute trash if i could give this place a negative i would. Each dessert was nasty, undercooked, mushy, and just down right disgusting i wouldn't even give this to my dog. I can't even say i liked one of these 9 desserts i ordered. I'll keep it simple. First time ordering from this bakery. I ordered four items: The chocolate chip cookie sandwich with cannoli filling in between One large cannoli A sugar cookie A strawberry shortcake slice. The cookies were soggy and moist they crumbled apart as soon as I grabbed it. The cannoli cream was flavorless and stale tasting The cannoli was MUSHY it's supposed to be a nice crisp delicious shell It was the consistency of like wet plaster. HORRIBLE. And again flavorless yellowed looking cannoli cream. Then the sugar cookie was literally LAUGHABLE my brother and I instantly laughed at it because it was $2.50 for a legit regular tiny sized cookie and it was PAPER thin I mean paper thin! It was a wafer basically cookie brittle haha like the nerve that they had to sell us that and put our name on it. Saving grace was the strawberry shortcake! My mom loved it and apparently it's one of their top items. I tasted it as well and it was awesome so I'm not just a harsh critic. I LOVE pastries and baked goods. So I really appreciate a good bakery. When the food is good I will be just as detailed with the description. Unfortunately, this was pitiful and it will be my first and last order from the New Rochelle Bakery. My brother asked where his flat cookie was from. I said the New Rochelle bakery. He says "if they keep making cookies like this they'll be the OLD Rochelle bakery" Give people quality food and ingredients people will PAY and they will continue to PAY. Absolutely Excellent new Italian bakery. So much so I had to add on Yelp. Please see Google reviews. I come to the hair dresser next door and I am always amazed by the absolute freshness of the pastries and cookies. My kids ask for them all the time. The folks working the front are respectful and personable. Again- Butter and Rainbow cookies to die for!! DO NOT go into the Bronx for your Italian cookie fix any longer. This Absolutely beats my Mount Vernon bakeries I've frequented by my house for years. Gonna have to try a cake soon. And...IT is Super Clean inside as well! read more

Had a last minute cake dilemma, and luckily they were one of very few bakeries open the dec 26th. Asked if they had any mocha cakes and they said I have to wait an hour. When I arrived, a friendly man greets me and gives me the cake a writes on it nicely, everything going well, but the only part that deserves 3 starts is the cake itself, very sugary tasted like a pound of sugar was added, very little coffee taste, soft cake itself but the flavor was very off.
