We got a great rate (through tripadvisor), with free parking and a hop, skip and a jump into SF on the BART reminded me of the pleasures of being a pedestrian. It's situated in a weird way (we couldn't figure out how to get into the front upon arrival) but we parked our car near the front desk. I have an affinity for unusual amenities and they didn't disappoint. I was able to have a double decaf espresso with my breakfast. WOO-HOO! (I know, I'm weird). They had hard-boiled eggs, a variety of pastries, breads, cold-cuts and cheeses, yogurts, canned peaches, prefab waffles and french toast. And rice pudding (yes, that was me, I swiped all two of them and stuck them in my fridge). We stayed in a deluxe room which is defined by a fridge and microwave (I need somewhere to store my soy milk - yum). I wouldn't necessarily say this was deluxe...but it was comfortable and really, really clean. (And because I'm a green chick, I was happy to see recycling bins on every floor). There's a safe which was big enough to accommodate two 17" laptops and then some. Here's my tiny dings (and thus four instead of five stars). Toiletries were two bars of soap and a small bottle of shampoo. Thank God I'm short because there was only two inches between me and the shower head (Tall? You're screwed - watch your head!). Although there was a coffeemaker in the room, there was only one caffeinated pouch with a few sugars. Three small pillows on the bed...I'm a three pillow kinda person. They also had a table-top ironing board (I have a strange penchant for ironing everything...sue me) Convenient location with a supermarket and several eating options within walking distance. Here's a simple heads up: although the neighborhood seems pretty safe, the walk at night from the BART to the hotel is quite desolate. Wow, what a place! I've been reading reviews here on Yelp and other places, and it was a bit of a mixed bag. But when we got there I immediately fell in love. First, the rooms are super duper cute. Love the artwork on the walls! It felt roomy, spacious, and a bit like home. Second, FREE BREAKFAST! Eggs, waffles, coffee, tea, bagels, cereal, etc. Third, it's literally across the street from the BART station, so you can easily get to/from San Francisco. Room - got a deluxe double room. Pretty tight. But clean. No funky odors. Clean bathroom. Breakfast - first day, had no idea what we were eating. Looked like egg of some sort. 2nd day they redeemed themselves by really serving eggs and sausages. Coffee was great. Parking - tough! Very limited. But free. If you arrive late at night like we did, we had to go around and around trying to find street parking. Maybe not enough for the rooms they have. My fiancee and I drove more than 2 hours to San Francisco for an appointment and to also relax this weekend. The place is ok. It's not bad. But because of the front desk's guest treatment and bed bugs. We are just giving this place 2 stars. We arrived at 3:20pm to check in. We were looking for someone at the front desk but no one is there to take care of us. A guy who passed by us name Dave/David did not even bother to greet or even look on us. We are obviously a guest ready to check-in and we have our bags with us. There was no good afternoon, and not even a hi or smile. Totally felt unwelcome. IMO, every guests deserves to be greeted and with a warm smile. Especially in this line of business. Little things like these makes a big impact for guests(like us) who drove long hours and just got off at work. It helps, no matter how tired you are. It makes that person special and very welcome. Making the day even better and more RELAXING and less stressed. Being welcome with a smile and being taken care of is a must have on every hotels. I was the one who even initiated "Hello".(It's like saying, "Can you please take care of us? We need to check-in". In my thoughts) He doesn't seem to be happy with his job and it affects the hotel services. The only reason we stayed here was the price discount. But we would never go back here again and won't even recommend this place to friends. This is the perfect place to stay if you want to visit San Francisco on a budget. I arrived here with my two sons at the tail end of a road trip from Los Angeles. I chose the hotel because I got a great price, and it's right next door to the BART station. In the end, as well as saving money on the hotel, we also saved a couple of days car rental because we were able to drop the car off at the airport and just see the sights on public transport. You do need a bit of patience and a degree in advanced math to use the BART ticketing system, but you can't blame the hotel for that. The hotel itself is very pleasant for the price - the rooms have recently been refurbished to a very good standard. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, with a central european flavour. The breakfast buffet is excellent - it also has a central european flavour with cold cuts and boiled eggs offered alongside the more commonplace waffle-it-yourself machines and bagel-o-matic toasters. Location, service and comfort - for half what you'd pay downtown. Not bad at all. read more

I found this place through yelp and Google search on reviews. It's a cute place, small and boutique like. I loved how convenient this place was! It's right next to the Milbrae train station & 15 mins away from SFO Airport. Walgreens and CVS is across the street. Tons of restaurants within walking distance like starbucks, chipotle, cafes and sit down restaurants. Super duper convienent. The room was decent size. My only issue about the room, was it literally took muscle Strength to open the door. I thought the key wasn't working. But it was just a matter of using like all my strength to yank the door open.. it was insane! Very clean room and the restroom had more towels in the drawers. I've never seen that! The breakfast though, was okay. There was eggs, sausage, waffle maker, toast/bread, yogurt. It was decent. The hotel in general is decent for the cost & location. The most awesome thing about this hotel is the breakfast and the location. For breakfast, you can choose from 2 different types of bagels, two cereals, make-your-own waffles, oatmeal, hard-boiled eggs, Yo-Plait yogurt, rice pudding, cold cuts and cheese, and all sorts of trimmings (Nutella, jams, peanut butter, raisins, dried cranberries, etc.). Also, OJ, tea, coffee and decaf. Although not up to my usual standards of organic and locally grown food, this was really pretty impressive for a hotel breakfast. Since I really don't eat wheat and try to avoid sugar, I especially appreciated the eggs and the plain instant oatmeal. On the second day, though, they didn't have any plain oatmeal but on the third day, after I'd asked about it, it was back, and the clerk at the desk made a point of letting me know it was there for me. Totally sweet of him!! I didn't try the waffle maker, but other people's waffles smelled and looked pretty good. Plus, there is the novelty of the whole waffle-making experience which several tourists from abroad seemed to enjoy. The location -- being near BART, Caltrain, and the airport--was perfect for me since I was visiting friends in the city and in the South Bay, and also had an appointment at Stanford. (I didn't want a car the entire time because parking in the city has gotten so bad.) On the days I had the car, I appreciated the free parking and had no problems finding a roomy spot. I also liked the Walgreen's, Starbucks, CVS, and Chipotle were right across the street. Being a Peet's girl, I found a Peet's Coffee a few blocks up in the old downtown but I drove there. I don't think I would spend my time walking it since Millbrae isn't all that scenic. On the down side, I guess the hotel has been recently renovated, but, imo, it's time to change the carpeting again. I wore flip-flops in my room the whole time. I also didn't like the upholstered pillow they put on my bed or the upholstered chair in the corner. Both had seen better days. The sheets and towels looked perfectly clean. Nothing bit me -- lol. And although I am not a fan of pillow-tops and prefer firm mattresses, I did adjust to this bed by the second night and slept quite well. My room (109) was right across from the little courtyard you see pictured. It's cute but it rained the whole time so no one was using it. Probably just as well because I wanted quiet and I am sure noise from the courtyard would have carried. Most of the time, I got the quiet I wanted, but you can hear every person in the place turning on the shower in the morning, and some of the guests were pretty noisy in the outdoor hallways outside the rooms. Some of the staff were very, very nice. Others seemed annoyed by the guests, but whatever. I did experience a discrepancy in the pricing when I checked out but they adjusted it after some argument on my part. It ended well, although it was more stress than I really wanted. I'd stay here again, I think. I did really miss having access to a fitness center. In the future, maybe I'll stay up the street at a hotel with a fitness center and just crash breakfast at the Dylan...kidding :) read more

Travelodge is the closest lodging available (at less than 1 mile from the hospital). It was very affordable (even w/ a last minute booking) and is conveniently located. We took the public transit and had no problem getting to the hotel. It is also near restaurants, a drug store, bank, and anything else you may need. Shuttle service to and from SFO is available (make sure to inquire with Travelodge to take advantage of this). It's not exceptional, but it is comfortable and had enough amenities that made my stay comfortable. If you have the need to feel flashy, this isn't the place for you. read more

Upon check in, there were no one in line, my husband and I stood there waiting to be helped while the employee was sitting there finishing up some stuff. Finally he came up and checked us in. Didn't get the employee's name but he was a bigger guy and he definitely was not friendly. We originally reserved a 2 bed room for my family of three but when we got to our room, it was only a queen bed!! That was the only type of room that was available so we all had to sleep together. Our room was facing towards the parking lot so every car noise there are, we hear it. Make sure you don't get a first floor room or you'll never be able to sleep with all those car and foot traffic. The room service ladies were talking loudly at 7:30am by our door and then pretty soon we heard car alarm noises. The room was small but looks really modern. Our bed was right next to the AC unit so every time I sit up, the air will be blowing at the face! The breakfast area is super small and the selection was the great. Waffles, boiled eggs, bagels and yogurt. What we did like about this hotel is location. It is close to the freeway and bart station and walking distance to some fast food and restaurant. Would we stay here again? Only if it can save us more than $100 per night on other preferred hotel; otherwise, it's really not worth it. If you're visiting the bay area and looking for an affordable and comfortable hotel in a super convenient location, the Dylan is the place for you. The rooms are clean and comfy. They don't have many amenities (pool, fitness room etc) but their internet was decent and breakfast featured a nice assortment of in-house baked goodies and your typical breads, cereals and juice. I had a two-day business seminar to attend at one of the hotels closer to the water, (on the other side of the freeway), and decided to stay here. The other places, (on the other side of the freeway), have a bad habit of wanting to charge your CAR to stay the night as well, (usually to the tune of about $18/night). I did the internet special which ran me something like $88 out the door (July 2009), for a two-bed room. Beds were newer, everything was in new-like condition and the restroom/shower were in good repair. As mentioned in other reviews, BART and CalTrain are a short walk away. Also close at hand is a Japanese restaurant on one side and a Wendy's on the other. Across El Camino Real, (the main blvd.), are two strip malls, one with a major chain grocery and a MC pharmacy. The other strip mall has local eateries, bakery, etc. all within walking distance. Here's a personal secret. Sometimes I sleep funny. I go to bed early and wake in the middle of the night. So I had some coffee in the pot in the room. Not the best in the world but adequate. When my traveling companion woke and said he wanted coffee too, there was no joe for his piehole. So I went down to the office, (4am). The very nice lady night clerk fishes under the counter and comes up with not one but two extra serving packets. Bless her pea-picking heart! That my friends is called SERVICE. So here it is. The desk help was excellent. David had me checked in in a flash. The lady in the morning (not the night shift lady), had me out the same way. And kudos to the night shift lady, you are the person who made my stay worthwhile. You're simple kindness and generosity have made me a customer for life. I sure hope your bosses take notice. I also want to point out that in the morning there's a continental breakfast bar with toastable breads with spreads, some fruit and a lovely machine that excretes OJ. Another one excretes reasonable coffee, all at everyone's favorite price, FREE. (With room rental, offers vary, check your local listings, et cetera, ad nauseum.) IS the SF Airport Travelodge the Ritz Carlton? No. Is it a clean, safe, quiet, friendly and AFFORDABLE place to stay? Absolutely. No doubt you'll see this piehole there again! read more

Love this hotel for a stop in and out of sfo! After a long day of travel or leaving early in the morning this is an oasis! The beds are so comfortable with the perfect number of pillows and blankets. The rooms in the Deluxe addition side of the hotel have a microwave and refrigerator in room. The location is with in walking distance of an in and out burger and BART. They also offer a free shuttle to and from the airport. The best part is that the front desk staff is friendly and super helpful. If we had business or family in the area we would stay here longer than our usual 1 night stop overs. It is close to the airport so you will hear airplanes, get over it! The hotel is missing a restaurant but that too is not a deterrent for us due to the plus side. read more

Nothing in life is free or so I was reminded with my experience with the Travelodge. I arrived at 9pm and was told to call as soon as my luggage arrived for a shuttle to be sent to me. When I did call after picking up my bags they told me where to go to wait. After 20 min I called and they finally explained that not only do they not send the shuttle, it leaves every half hour from some other hotel and they have no way of tracking it! Hmmm, fishy. When I said that I felt deceived by the "free" shuttle being explained as one that picks you up, I was told that it would take (not exaggerating) 30 min to explain it to people. I laughed and said, no, you could just tell your customers the truth in a concise way. For example, "we have a free shuttle that leaves on the hour and half hour". He said he couldn't argue with me on that being true and vaguely apologized for being untruthful. When did marketing become blatant lies? I would have taken a cab! I only stayed here because it looked easy and I was only staying in SF for 10 hours. I'll definitely be taking a cab to the airport and upgrading my hotel selection pronto. read more

We were flying out of San Fran in the early morning, and the Dylan offered everything we were looking for: close to the airport with a free air port shuttle close to the BART (it's right across the street!) close to gas stations/convenience stores/places to get a bite to eat We drove up in the morning, and arrived at the hotel at 11am. We knew check in was at 3pm, and we had called ahead to see if we could stash our luggage before heading out to explore San Fran, and the clerk said we could actually check in . . . .FOUR hours early!! Woohoo!!!!! We were rather road weary; our phones needed to charge; and a 10 minute power nap on the soft clean bed was just want we needed . . . along with a cold glass of complimentary citrus infused water from the lobby! Once we were ready to hit the road (or the BART) the clerk was a huge help in recommending places to see in the city, and how to ride the BART. Loved his funky hair, too!! Our room was nicely appointed. The bathroom was super cute, with a homey feel. I am glad we chose this hotel! read more

Comfortable and well appointed. The room is not so much cozy as it is a bit homey, with a touch of eclectic. Nicely decorated. There are several electrical sockets around the room, which is very convenient in this day. The nightstand has a small shelf where I could tuck my iPad at night while it was charging. Very nice blow dryer. Cute key cards with easy touch sensor entry. Breakfast was delicious with a lot of variety, extremely well-stocked and attended to. I was permitted to check in upon arrival, 45 minutes early. Very friendly and attentive staff. Nice little outdoor seating while you wait near the lobby. DON'T STAY HERE!! Stayed here for 2 nights and here is what was observed; Negative; I left with 4 bites. I woke up with red spots and they itched. Defiantly signs of bed bugs. The customer service was horrible. The maids are EXTREMELY rude. When we complained it turned out the one that was rude is a "supervisor". Yes there is a vanity for the ladies as advertised but that is also where the cups, ice container, and coffee maker are located. So its a bit inconvenient to rearrange everything. As far as the BART station goes it IS LOUD. You can hear the trains coming and going until late at night. So if you like to go to bed early and you are a light sleeper STAY AWAY. Also during the stay they are remodeling. They were LOUD as early as 9am. The photos of the rooms are nicer then the actual rooms in person. Positives; The breakfast bar is OK. Would be better if they offered pastries as well. The TV are nice with a variety of stations. USB charging cable next to the bed. There are SO many places to stay out there cause of the airport. This was a pleasant surprise. The main reason I booked this hotel was for its closeness to the Milbrae station. We took the BART to Milbrae Station and walked 5 minutes to this hotel. Room was a surprise didn't expect to get a balcony. The room was clean and the bathroom was clean. Nothing to complain about there. I was worried since our window faced the Caltrain that it would be noisy but it really wasn't too bad. Liked the availability of Asian food nearby. The location can't be beat in terms of the Caltrain station. I used it to go to mountain view, Palo Alto, and the airport. Breakfast had a decent selection and the dining area is small so it gets packed quickly. Took some time for them to refill not sure if it was because there was a crowd before we got there or someone wasn't monitoring. After we sat down with the food that was available the fresh food came out. Overall the staff was pretty friendly. read more

My boyfriend and his friends run the Bay to Breaker run every year and we usually stay in San Francisco but the hotel and valet parking rates are ridiculous. So my boyfriend and his friends stayed at the Dylan last year (I didn't go last year) and took the BART to the Bay to Breaker starting line and it worked out great. So we stayed at the The Dylan this year I wasn't quite sure what to expect because it looks like a motel to me but the rooms were clean and I loved the room decor. Got stuck in SFO trying to get to Hawai'i on standby. (Don't laugh, you'd try it too.) Basically just needed something for the night and booked the first cheap hotel. So glad it was the Travelodge. Complimentary airport shuttle, free wifi and a continental breakfast which included espresso drinks, coldcuts and a decent assortment of pastries and yogurt. Staff was super friendly. The hotel was recently renovated--the rooms are clean and the beds were surprisingly super comfy. The hotel is right across the street from BART and CalTrain. Also it's across the street from Safeway and Walgreens. A couple of blocks more and there's Trader Joes and a 24 Hour fitness. I've stayed at a few SFO hotels and this is by far the best located in terms of public transport. read more

Can this actually be a negative or zero review (gets one star for the pokestop nearby). This is possibly the worst hotel experience I have ever had upon being checked in. The manager was scolding an employee in the back when we walked in (we are a group of seven traveling on business, so we all had separate rooms). When she FINALLY acknowledged our arrival the "manager" freaked out at our group. She yelled, and I mean that, at us for not letting them know what we were part of one group and that checking them in was an absolute inconvenience for their "small business establishment." The entire check-in process with this lady was her berating us for this inconvenience. Listen, we are traveling from Michigan, we had no idea that this would be an issue. Nowhere on their website did it specify that they were unable to accommodate a group of 7 people. And, the reason we were all in separate rooms was due to business travel. Regardless, if we had known, we absolutely would have notified them in advance. Furthermore, in the hotel/hospitality business, you just DON'T chew out your guests. If I had been traveling with my family, we would have left. When some of us got checked in she started to calm down, but then told us that if we were going to come down for breakfast that we can only come down in waves because there wouldn't be enough room for us all at once. It was just another remark she had to slip in. The rooms actually were pleasant on the inside. However, this is a motel style hotel where you enter your room from the outside. The building was also under construction when we were there and the outside appearance is not pleasant (painted this awful gray color). All in all, even though the rooms were okay, we will NEVER be staying at that hotel again. She lost business from me personally and also from our company (I work at a tier 1 supplier, and we were looking for somewhere inexpensive for this quick work trip). The price was not great for what it was, and for the two night we stayed it was about $560 for a very subpar hotel with horrific service. Again, I know California is expensive, but that is just absurd for where we were staying (but I will mark this as moderate because I'm sure other hotels are a lot more pricey in the area). read more

This is a budget-range type of hotel (used to be a Travelodge?) and for what it is, it did very nicely, especially for the super cheap price I paid, and it comes with free wifi and parking, plus hot chocolate, tea and coffee in the little lobby. The hotel itself is clean, quiet, and convenient. It's nicely upgraded, and well taken care of. The little courtyard area was nicely done up with some modern patio furniture, which was a bit out of place, but nice. It's short walking distance to Millbrae's very practical downtown, which is great. I was doing another depressing weekend of house-hunting there, and one night for dinner I staggered over to Chicken Pho You (gotta love that name) to cry into a delicious bowl of beef stew noodle soup. Such a conveniently located hotel, a very safe area. Also across from a Chipotle and an excellent Chinese restaurant (great dim sum) and down from the Bart, which I didn't use, so I can't comment on that. The rock-bottom price entitled me to a basic room, and I'm so glad that the nice front desk guy upgraded me at no charge to a nicer modern-furnished one with a microwave and mini-fridge, still on the first floor, but so much better than the basic, which I saw when the maid was cleaning one. It was pretty dark and smaller, very basic indeed, and I wouldn't have been as happy. So upgrade if you can afford it. The individual air console was really loud though, but so were some of the expensive hotels I've stayed at, so no points off. I did hear the train, but it wasn't a big deal, and I used earplugs. The only minor gripe was that I got charged $3 for the safe without being asked (and I didn't use), but she quickly issued me a credit when I pointed it out. read more

Check out is by noon, so you can sleep last night's shenanigans off. There's also a fairly large shopping mall two freeway exits away with a Target & Penney's. Had an extremely pleasant, albeit short stay here (literally overnight just to sleep then on the road bright and early). We got there late at night and from the outside and the lobby, I didn't really know what to expect of the room. The room has definitely been renovated and has a modern style. The room might be small, but it is comfortable, super clean and has air conditioning and the usual amenities. The water pressure in the shower is to die for and is a real shower not a bathtub shower! Continental breakfast was great with decent hot food and plenty of cold options. There was parking available and as we were not familiar with the area, we took everything out just in case! If I ever happen to be in this area again I would definitely choose to stay here. read more

I booked this room super late night, and last minute. When I arrived I quickly checked in, and was on my way to my room. Once I got into my room I was pleasantly surprised!!!! The room was very updated, modern, and clean!!! I enjoyed seeing the art above the bed and thought it was a cool touch. The room was not very spacious but was enough for two people. I really liked this room and would definitely be back!!!! read more

This sucks...the hotel system is being "updated" so I cannot check in to my room. 12:45 am and I have to wait in the lobby or go to another hotel....never have I experienced this before. The receptionist was kind but this is ridiculous and unacceptable! read more

Great service friendly staff. Sunday nights staff helped me to get a parking space and gave me a note so my car won't get towed. The breakfast was substantial frittata, eggs, waffles, yogurt, sausage, cheese, ham, orange and apple juice ,bagels,toast, coffee,tea, hot chocolate, herbal tea . Rooms beautiful modern clean. Let us check out at 1pm.lobby has a large scrabble board. Would use again. Enjoyed the art festival downtown Millbrae. A 30 minute walk.great spa water too. read more

Dislike because #1 neurotic owners #2 distressingly "perfect" lobby arrayed with books arranged for display purposes only (jackets off OF COURSE), looks weird, feels weird, intimately connected to #1 and #3 run by crazy people who think that it is a hotel guest's job to be constantly available to them. Huh? Glad I found somewhere else to spend money instead of a cookie-cutter-silicon-valley-but-thinks-they're-original place where the owners have their heads in the wrong places. Good luck surviving the downturn, Dylan hotel at SFO (and great dumb name, too--where did you come up with that whole "at" thing?). Don't worry, you'll be able to get a couple bucks for those pristine books. Oh, and the room was really dark. Definitely motel not hotel--in all ways. read more

I've never really stayed at a boutique hotel. But I do have to say this place rocks. Not to far from the airporteither, but far enough not to be around the hustle and bustle and hear the plans. Actually, if you get a room with a balcony facing the train/bart station, you can see the plains coming and going. It's actually pretty neat. The rooms are pretty nice I do have to say and the beds were super comfy. The breakfast in the morning was delish and filling. In the afternoons they put out cookies. They are really good. There is also a coffee/hot chocolate/hot water machine that you can get drinks in 24/7. This place is so cute and quaint. Definately should try it! read more

The Dylan at SFO was great. The staff at this hotel is amazing; friendly and resourceful. While we did not participate in the continental breakfast, we glanced at it, and it looked wonderful. This hotel is maintained very clean, the rooms/facilities are well updated and very cozy. I would definitely recommend this place. The reason for the four-starred review is because the shuttle service from the airport to the hotel left a lot to be desired. In their defense, this hotel is privately owned and operated, so it does have not have the as-frequent shuttle services the big-named hotels provide. Overall, great stay! read more

The reason I'm giving it one star is the only good thing is the rooms but with all the upgrades they did you think it would have refrigerators in them. So I booked my room from booking.com and we booked 2 rooms one for me and one for my friend I checked in at 2pm the front desk person asked if I wanted to pay for both rooms I said no he will be here later that night I had to pick them up at the airport at 8pm so my friend called the hotel to check in and they had no room they gave it away for no reason.so I called them and the guy working the night shift didnt care only wanted to argue so the next morning I went down to talk to the manager and they were no help they didnt car and not once did they apologize for leaving my friends with no room for the weekend. I sent an email to there office and they still haven't replied so please dont stay here customer service sucks . read more

A great, small, experience close to SFO. The Italian gent, my front desk/customer service rep was fantastic! Very thorough and knowledgeable about the hotel and surrounding areas. The greatest thing about my experience, as a very, very frequent traveler, was the quality of my bed sheets! Shockingly soft and smooth! While the rooms are small, they are very tidy, very clean and very organized. If ever by SFO again, I will most definitely be staying for a great nights sleep! read more
