I'm giving this buffet five stars because it's one of my favorite places to eat especially since Red Apple Chinese Buffet in Concord, closed during COVID and never reopened. When the buffet isn't available during the day, I sometimes order off the menu, and the food always comes out hot and fresh--I've never had a complaint. My family and I have been coming here for years, visiting the buffet hundreds of times (pre COVID shut down) when it used to run day and night. While I believe the restaurant was better under the previous owner when it was always busy, the new owner is very caring, and the buffet is often excellent. That said, the quality can be inconsistent. If you go an hour or two after the buffet opens, the food can sometimes be lukewarm, soggy, or dried out. There have been times when I've even questioned whether certain items were fresh, or left over from the previous day and reheated. On one occasion, I even complained about a few items that were cold or tough, and to their credit, they made a fresh batch, which was fantastic. The biggest challenge with any buffet is that if food is prepared around 5 p.m., but there aren't many guests, it sits for a while and loses its freshness. Naturally, if you come in later, the quality won't be the same as when it was first put out. Despite this, I love Chinese food and appreciate the variety a buffet offers. Even if a couple of items aren't at their best, there are still plenty of delicious options to enjoy. If you ever come across something that isn't up to the usual standard, I recommend politely letting them know--they seem willing to bring out fresh items when asked. This restaurant is located in downtown Rochester, New Hampshire, and not the nicest of neighborhoods. Often times there are people hanging around the front or the parking lot who may or may not be homeless. I've even seen a a person or two that were clearly drunk before. (There is a separate bar attached to the restaurant. Inside the restaurant is very clean. The men's room is old, but usually tidy and clean. And the buffet is well-maintained keeping it clean and presentable. If you've never tried this restaurant, I recommend trying it on a busy night like Fridays. It's best to be there right around 4:30 or 5 PM to get the food as fresh as possible when it is first brought out to the buffet. Normally do not write reviews, but wanted to review and comment on The Dynasty. Recently moved to the Lakes Region from South NH, and while driving around the Lakes Region to some Coastal areas to get more acquainted, stumbled across,... The Dynasty. Since a female companion and I are fond of Polynesian / Chines Buffets, we decided to give the place a try one late afternoon, and were very pleased, and more so as stops there continued. This is a nice Local Spot, away from the Touristy type places, and is Comfortable and Cozy. I have now made this place a regular stop, three to four times a month. Have frequented various Chinese / Polynesian Buffet Restaurants throughout NH over the years and found the Dynasty buffet selections to be varied, tasty, good quality, reasonably priced, and the owners and staff very attentive, pleasant and friendly. Although there is also a menu to order from if one is not of mind for a buffet, we have always opted for the buffet, and never disappointed with the selection or the quality for the price. For those that indulge in what I like to refer to as " Attitude Adjusters ", there is also a full liquor license, but my favorite ( even if I stop-in alone ) is the Scorpion Bowl for... Two !!  : ), This is a Great Local Spot that I would recommend, and have often. I ordered three items and each one was a textbook example of how to make to make (Chinese, or any) food unappetizing. They were inedible and I had to throw them away. The wonton soup smelled like a wet dog. I don't know what they substituted for wonton skins but they were thicker than lasagna noodles and were undercooked and difficult to chew. Vegetables were sparse, and that is being generous. The chicken teriyaki strips were bone dry, difficult to chew, and stringy. The pork in the roast pork and vegetables was served in large chunks that were cut so as to be tough and full of gristle. The dish as a whole had absolutely no flavor. apparently if you order a dish here "No spicy" it means no seasoning.at.all. Can't recommend this place and won't be back. read more

Happy Chinese New Year! I really wanted to find a buffet to celebrate this holiday. I was in Rochester, NH and did a Yelp search and, even after reading the reviews, decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. Located in a small strip mall type building, I parked right out front. As I entered I was greeted by a gentleman who seated me immediately and promised to bring me ice water and hot tea and invited me to partake in the buffet. I read a few of the reviews complaing about dried out and cold food but, I didn't experience anything like that. They opened at 11:30 and I showed up just before noon which may have something to with that. I found everything to be hot and tasty and I was able to try about half of the offerings. I gave this place 5 stars before, but the last couple of times I ordered from this place was not good. I only go here out of convenience because it's close to my church. The staff turnaround is high here, there are always new people working. I usually order my food and wait in the bar, and they would bring my food to me. This place is in a bad part of town and the bar customers reflect that. The bar tender spent her time looking at her phone and you have to get her attention for service. Beer is overpriced. This time I waited a long time and when I went to the counter, the girl said, "Oh, I forgot you were in the bar" which is weird, because she kept coming in the bar to hit off her vape pen, so she must have seen me. The food was barely warm when I got home. The rice was fine, but the egg foo young wasn't in patty form, and looked like it was mashed up and tossed in the carton. It tasted okay, but not as good as in the past. Also, this is the only place I know that puts the egg foo young in a container like this and doesn't keep the sauce in it's own container. I guess I'll juts go to the place on Marketplace BLVD from now on. read more

The buffet is only open Wednesday through Saturday!!!!! Was pretty disappointed when we walked in for lunch buffet, and it was not available . We ended up staying and ordering off the menu. Pupu platter was awesome. Lunch specials are pretty good lots of choices. Good portions. Only downside was the food did not take home well - I went to eat my leftovers and let's just say it didn't go well. I was impressed with the food the day of but I was not impressed with the leftovers quality . The restaurant is basic - only one person was working when we were there. First time I've been here since Covid hit. Gotta say I'm super disappointed in service and quality of food. $74 for three of us. I can understand prices going up due to inflation and things. But this place is far from being this expensive. The quality of the food was dried out, with no taste. And mind you, we were the first people to show up here, so there is no time to dry out on its own. The service was non-existent. We had all our dishes at the end of the table, with employees looking , but not taking them away. No one ever came by and asked, "How is everything?" The only time we saw anyone was when our CC was on the table, and we were ready to leave. Don't waste your money at this place. Prices skyrocketed, and quality went way way down. Go somewhere else. We used to have the dinner buffet at the Dynasty on a regular basis before Covid. Food was excellent, buffet selection was very good and price was reasonable. Not sure what happened. But after Covid, the prices went through the roof and the quality of food on the buffet went way downhill. I understand that prices have risen, but the other Chinese restaurants in the area have not pushed their prices up anywhere near the extent this place has. The dinner buffet has gone from $9.95 to $19.99 - that's more than a 100% increase. With the higher prices, there are fewer buffet customers, which mean the food sits in the trays and get stale and cold. What was once a favorite has now become an eatery to avoid. read more

I am visiting Dover. I had a discount from Uber. I was not feeling well so I wanted chicken soup. I ordered chicken & rice soup and chicken & broccoli- low spicy. Normally, I love really spicy but since I wasn't feeling well I ordered low spice. The food was delivered faster than expected. Plus it was hot. It was probably my mistake but I didn't realize the chicken & broccoli did not come with rice. Maybe they forgot to put it in the bag????? The soup had a little broth. It was mostly rice with a lot of chunks of chicken. Since I was sick I would have wanted more broth. There was a lot of soup for a small - almost a quart container. I would try the restaurant again when I am feeling better because I would want to see if the spicy has more favor. The plain was what I needed today. read more

The Dynasty has changed from days gone by. The General Tso's Chicken has changed and not for the better. It is almost smooshy, hardly spicy & VERY orangey in flavor and color. It used to be dark red & crispy with visible flakes of hot peppers & orange zest.Their sweet and sour chicken made up for it though. The Hot & Sour Soup lacked in vinegar and Wood Ear mushrooms (the black stuff), they added whole button mushrooms as a substitute. The crab rangoon was as I recall. The egg rolls were not. Overall I think $20 is better spent at my local Chinese restaurant. It saddens me to see how it has changed. read more

We were here last night, really had to talk ourselves into going but are missing Chinese buffet...expensive mistake ! A little over $43.00 for 2 dinner buffet and 2 ice waters. The food was just terrible. Everyone seemed to not be cleaning their plates- no one finished what they got. Fried dumplings were cold and tough, some sort of noodles in sauce had a bad aftertaste, the chicken and broccoli wasn't bad-the meat was tender- but it was at room temperature. I'm wondering if everything sits out from lunch. The waitress was very nice but not worth $43 to spend any amount of time with her. Every time we go here, I say never again......we are hoping that the Continental reopens soon ! read more

This restaurant has both a menu that you can order from and a buffet so I opted for the buffet since I love to try a little bit of everything. The buffet has very delicious Chinese food on it including appetizers, soups, main dishes as well as rice and lo mein. I found that my very favorite items on the buffet were the beef with broccoli, chicken wings, chicken fingers, lo mein and the hot and sour soup. I especially liked the hot and sour soup and was glad it was as good as it was because sometimes a good hot and sour soup is not easy to find. They do have a good selection of desserts on the buffet as well. Small cakes, puddings and ice cream are some of the things that they have as far as the desserts go. The dining room is very spacious and comfortable. The trays of food on the buffet were always full and the food was kept hot. The waitstaff came by my table several times to clear plates in between trips to the buffet and my water glass was kept full. So the service was just as good as the food. I would definitely be willing to dine here again the next time I get up to this area. read more

When I was a youngin' this was a frequent dinner visit for me & my family of 5. It was nice to eat at the buffet back then. I would say that not much has changed though some changes might need to be made (like updating the style of the restaurant & giving it a new "face"). I mean, it's a buffet & most people go there for the buffet. I can't say that they don't keep up with keeping the trays full, because they always do. I can't say that there aren't clean, hot plates readily available, because there always are. I can't say that they lack in picking up dirty dishes from tables, because the servers frequently check on each table to keep them clear. I think it is an OK place to eat a buffet & I have never gotten ill from the food. It has been a while since I ordered takeout, but I have never received a bad experience when doing that, either. I don't go here much now, but when I do I only go to the restaurant. I went next door to the bar portion ONCE for a pool table tournament & that side of the place kind of creeped me out (beware). read more

While waiting I picked up menu off a booth table in front of store and noticed piles of menus were in the process of changing all the prices by hand. Hmmm. First Strike. I was over charged 0.70 cents. When I questioned them they refused to remove it from the bill. Got all indignant and flustered. Yikes! Second Strike. Third strike. Probably the most disgusting chicken was used throughout the various dishes that we ordered ($50.00 order). The chicken was so dried out that it was more than obvious it had reused many, many times. The chicken probably died of natural causes! Ordered Lobster sauce with Shrimp. The shrimp smelled so bad it would make you gag! The cook clearly had no idea how to make Lobster sauce. I wish I could give them 0 stars. Ordered food for Christmas Eve for 6 people. No one liked the food, the chicken fingers were dry and rubbery and the sweet and sour sauce was pink and had the consistency of gel. Within 3 hours I was very sick with food poisoning and spent the next 8 hours with severe diarrhea and vomiting. I was unable to enjoy Christmas and not able to eat at all the next day. Some of the food was mediocre at best, needless to say, I was extremely disappointed in the food. Lobster sauce was terrible, made with extra salt and gravy master, the shrimp cocktail was alright, can't see messing up boiling shrimp. Not a great selection of items, very slim pickings. The bacon wrapped surprise, which was bacon wrapped around a hotdog, was just wrong, and insulting for the price demanded for this food. The chocolate pudding was OK since it came out of a can. Oh, Dynasty. The mainstay of a weekend takeaway dinner when I see my folks. It's standard American Chinese. Lots of fried things. The buffet is also fine. I like it for what it is (no irony), and cooks really do refresh the trays (even at lunch!). Still, it is what it is. My fave memory is coming to pick up a take-out order on Christmas Eve for my folks...there's quite a back-up, so we went to the adjoining "lounge" to wait while nursing a drink. During a recent work field trip to Rochester, I stopped in at Dynasty Restaurant for the lunch buffet. I was seated at a table in the long open dining area (buffet area in the back), which was pretty busy with mostly seniors here on a Friday afternoon. As for the lunch buffet (2 hot stations, cold salad station, dessert station, ice cream freezer), there are over 65 items to choose from including the popular Chinese dishes & items, soups, salad, and desserts. Some of the items on the buffet included pork fried rice, veg lo mein, pork lo mein, pork egg foo young, pork dim sum, moo goo gai pan, beef & broccoli, Peking pork, Gen Tsos chicken, sweet & sour chicken, chicken chop suey, chicken chow mein, cheese & scallion, happy family, veg delight, egg roll, crab rangoon, pork & mushrooms, chicken tenders, fried scallop, stuffed mushroom, chicken wings, boneless spare ribs, hot & sour soup, egg drop soup, salad bar, and desserts including 4 flavors of hard ice cream, assorted small cakes & brownies (same & typical at other Chinese buffets), red jello, puddings (tapioca & chocolate) and fruit (watermelon & cantaloupe). Pepsi fountain drinks extra ($1.95) and hot tea is complementary. I made a few trips to the buffet to try most items. The lo mein was on the greasy side, the fried rice was soft with roast pork & onion, crab rangoons (filled with lots of cheese), egg roll (not greasy, filled with cabbage & ground pork), chicken chow mein (oily), and breaded chicken tenders (crispy & not greasy). The hot & sour soup was thick and had a mild spicy flavor. The Happy Family, Veg Delight, and Peking pork were hot and fresh. For the most part, the food on this Chinese buffet was pretty decent and priced fairly with the variety offered. The service here was prompt with the used plates cleared between buffet trips and the check with fortune cookie presented when I was finished with dessert. The check for lunch buffet with hot tea came out to $9.27 with tax and before tip. After having a heavy lunch, the 45 minute drive back to the office first required a good coffee stop before leaving town. read more

We used to get takeout here all the time, but after one horrible experience I've only been back once for the buffet- and after that swill, I won't be back ever again. My mother and I used to like to stop in on a hot day for a drink and a fried ice cream, which was never a problem. The last time we did it, our waiter (VERY rudely) informed us that there is a minimum $5 purchase per customer in order to be served. Not even taking into consideration that our order would have been more than that for those two items anyway, this was something we had done multiple times for YEARS. When we pointed this out, the waiter became very defensive and said he was going to get a manager. We walked out before he had a chance to return. I went back once, about a year ago, with a couple of coworkers who wanted to try the buffet, and the food was absolutely atrocious. We got there shortly after the buffet opened, and nothing was even remotely warm. Much of it looked as though it had been reheated from the day before. Things that should have been crispy were soggy and gross, and things that should have been soft were undercooked or so burned they were inedible. I have been eating here for years but only recently started leaving Yelp reviews. This place is your run of the mill Chinese buffet. The food is hardly the best Chinese food I've ever had, but let's be honest. People usually go to a buffet for quantity over quality. The servers are friendly and do a good job keeping the table cleared and my drink full. There are plenty of options on the buffet, although the claim of 64 items is high. Obviously they mean 64 that get rotated out. The price is fair, it isn't as pricey as going to a place like Great Buffet in Manchester or Newington. I've only eaten there not for the buffet a couple times, and although the food was a little better than the buffet, I would say try elsewhere for a typical sit down meal. But if what you want is a reasonably priced buffet so you can stuff yourself with fairly good Chinese food this is as good a place as any. read more

On a busy night, the buffet is decent and fresh. On slow nights, the food sits in the steam tables a bit longer and isn't as good but is still passable. The chicken wings at the Dynasty are the best I've ever had. I take out wings, pork egg foo young, hot and sour soup and fried rice. (all good) The bar patrons are all smokers and solidly blue collar. The restaurant is a slight step up. The service is generally good. My call... Eat the buffet on Friday or Saturday night and eat take out on slow nights. read more
