Idk about the rest of you guys, but idc if it has a warranty, I expect something that expensive to not give out on me 2 days later. I expect to use the warranty 3 years down the road or so. Was dealing with moving places so we needed a car that worked, so we called triple A, and they gave us a NEW battery that hasn't given out on us! When I went to address this to the gentleman he was "the warranty this, the warranty that" during a stressful time in life we are not making trips to the auto shop that we just spent a pretty penny at. Totally go to this place if you want to be belittled, act like their faulty products are your fault, and have to make multiple trips to go there, then this is the place for you! If you're a normal patron like me that expects the product you buy to work, without having to go back. Steer clear. Also would like to add the gentleman was very certain he gave a new battery, and not just a freshly charged up one, the triple A guy who ACTUALLY helped said that wasn't true, the battery he took out from this place he said was old. Also on the receipt from this place, it says we had a new battery but on this other piece of paper that was stapled DAY OF (not sure why the dates are off, someone hasn't changed the date on that receipt printer) it clearly states "recharge" so again, if you want to spend an insane amount of money for this type of service, you found the place!

I'm only…read moregiving the 2 stars instead of 1 because I'm assuming the mechanic did what was claimed, although no "after" pictures were provided - only "before" pictures. I went here as an AAA member and it is an AAA shop. With the radio show and all, I expected a higher than average cost but also a higher than average job. Not the case for me. I'll try to just state what happened and let the reader draw their own conclusions as to whether they want to go here or somewhere else. 4/28/26: The estimate called for a cabin filter replacement. I had to point out that my model of truck doesn't have one. After approving $4K of repairs, Brandon emailed me, "I will call you tomorrow when it is finished." However I never received any communication the next day (4/29) saying it was ready or delayed. I had to inquire the day after that (4/30).  4/30: "All the services are completed we have to smog the vehicle still my smog guy went to lunch so i am hoping to have it all set by 2or 3 this afternoon" 2:05 "...  my technician is setting up all the monitors, and the catalytic converter is taking a little while to set. There is nothing wrong with the cats but the monitor takes a drive cycle to set so it might be a little bit past three." 3:03 " ...it looks like we have to do what's called a coldstart. Everything on the vehicle must be under 100 degrees. Would it be ok if we kept it over night in order to perform the cold start in the morning? We should have the vehicle back to you no later than 10am  " 5/1 10:14 "We have finally set the monitors and the truck has been smogged." Brandon emailed me my address for confirmation before sending the shuttle, and I replied it was the correct address and repeated the address in my reply. "Perfect he will be there shortly!" I waited in front of my house and was surprised to get a call saying they were in front of my house waiting for me. I said they weren't and repeated my address. They were waiting at the wrong address despite all the address confirmations. The driver never apologized or mentioned it. The office never apologized or mentioned it.  I made the $4K payment and got in my truck to leave. I noticed my phone holder was broken and the piece that broke off was on the floorboard. Something I would have notice before. I also noticed the gas tank was near empty when it was near full when I dropped it off. I compared the mileage when I dropped it off to the current mileage and there was a difference of 135 miles. I went back into the office and asked about the mileage. Brandon then told me he drove it for the smog test. Brandon never mentioned that he drove the truck 135 miles nor did he ask permission beforehand. While the estimate had some "before" pictures of repairs needed, no "after" pictures were provided after the work was done.

This business is an AAA approved mechanic, but was somewhat disappointing. To begin with and at the…read moretime of our visit, the gas station on the corner in front of them was under construction so that their shop was really only visible and accessible from one side. You had to sneak through the car wash on the other side to access them. Like many mechanics, parking is very limited. While this is not their fault, they could have put up some signage to make things easier for their customers. For the repair we needed done, they charged us $500 over the highest fee on the national average scale. They also took 9 hours to complete work that for a competent mechanic takes 2-3 hrs and a highly skilled mechanic can do in about an hour--some DIY car enthusiasts claim they do it in about 50 min total. Finally, when they told us the work was completed, then they said there was a problem before handing over the car and that they had to order a new part because they detected the one they installed was defective. After we left to wait for a new part, they contacted us again to say that they determined there was a loose connection rather than a defective part. While we are glad they found any problems before handing over the car, this back and forth does not inspire confidence in their work--these checks should have been done and any installation errors corrected before communicating to us that the car was done. Due to this last issue, we are left wondering if the repairs will fail. If we are in need of another repair when in the area, we will probably try another AAA recommended mechanic. I was going to end my review there, but the business owner replied before I could finish my review and their response is defensive, inaccurate, and places blame on us, all of which makes us have less confidence in their services. First of all, our car was never towed to their business. We drove it in as it was still functional and they assured us that it would probably run at least 2-3 more days without any repairs. Second, they told us that they had at least one of the parts and that the car would be done Monday morning despite ordering the other part. They also said that they could get the part very quickly, but there was just not enough time to complete the repair on Friday. If they needed hours to get try second part they completely led us to believe that was NOT the case on Friday. If it just unexpectedly took longer to get the part, then they could have just told us that. They emphasized several times Monday--MORNING to complete the work. We did ask IF IT could be finished same day, but we never demanded any specific finish time. When they said "no,"we asked IF it could be done by Monday. They volunteered Monday MORNING with repeated emphasis on morning--something we did not request. When I contacted them late in the morning for an update on Monday, it was not done, so we waited. It was around 1:30-2:00 when they first finished and then 3:00 when they corrected the improper installation. We did not take possession of the car till at least 3:00. Even if they did no work on the car on Friday due to lack of one part, they still had the car for 8 hrs on Monday before the repair was completed. If they had ordered a second part to replace a defective one they installed, then we would have either gotten the car at 5:00 or next day. Point is that neither 1:30-2:00 nor 3:00 is MORNING. Other point is, that even with waiting for one part to start, the repair time seems too long--assuming the part took 3 hrs to get (when they originally said they could get it fast) 5 hrs to do a 2-3 hrs repair even with other cars in the lineup is too long. Finally, while using OEM parts can be a much higher price, it cannot account for a minimum of a $500 mark up on this particular job and given the old age of our car (for some other mechanics the cost is almost $1000 less than what we were charged), a difference which is almost certainly labor costs that are at a business' discretion. They may truly believe, their cost and repair time are valid, but the research we did before bringing them the car says otherwise. We were aware of the average cost and time to make the repair before their estimate, but needed it done and so just had them do the work. We really didn't care if the work was finished morning or afternoon, but if we are told one or the other and it ends up taking more time, then in our experience a responsible mechanic will contact the customer with an update rather than waiting for the customer to initiate communication. We are old farts and this is maybe the 5th or 6th alternator we have replaced over the course of owning many cars and dealing with many mechanics over the years. Further, as a mechanical engineer who sometimes does his own work on his cars, I just don't find their explanation plausible and as a customer I find their response inaccurate and placing blame and therefore additionally disappointing.

The car was driven only briefly twice and then two days ago the most terrifying sound came from the front driver side wheel that reminded me of when I spent $800 on a U-joint replacement! I had been planning on getting the brakes done this week but now I was worried that there was a bigger problem and began calling around for quotes on the brakes, after the original place I went to for oil change told me $625/side I Googled "best affordable brake shop in SD" and Todd's shop Budget, popped up. After reading his great reviews I called him up and we chatted for a moment after which he quoted me at most $400/side and said they'd be happy to take a look at my mystery sound. I hopped in the car and drove right over, was seen right away, enjoyed my visit with owner Todd (he has great stories!) and watched customers get excellent service at fantastic prices while I waited. I had my pup with me and she was treated like a special customer as well, they had a water bowl for her & she had a great time too. The first thing they looked at was the mystery sound, now let me say, there are absolutely mechanic shops that will take an opportunity like this to make some money but not these guys! What I thought would be something really expensive turned out to be a rock! Stuck in the struts! They showed me the video & after completing the brakes with full fluid replacement I walked out of there at $325 total! Well under what I was quoted for brakes and not even close to what I feared! Todd handed me the little stone and now not only do I have a pocket rock with a good story, I have an honest mechanic shop for life. Thank you so much to the team (including a really sweet long time customer who helps out around the shop who kept me company & offered the water to my pup!) for everything, I will absolutely be back! And I carry my pen in my purse so I can tell people about you too! Happy to say my husband was ecstatic with the custom exhaust work that Todd and his team did on his 1967 Fastback; installing a pair of stainless steel Borla mufflers while keeping pipes tight and working around constraints like the oversized driveshaft and subframe interconnect safety hoop. All in a single day and a single go! The reviews and stories are true-- budget muffler is anything but (except in cost). The proof is in the photos. Happy to recommend them for any of their services.
