So i want to take back everything I said about this place expect for the nice service. Ladies I'm just gonna say it straight the edge salon ruined my hair. I had natural when I went into the edge salon. After about 2 hair styles I noticed (when at the salon) that my hair wasn't curling up. Trusting that I was in the hands of stylist who knew what they were doing I didn't question anything. A few styles later my hair wasn't improving and it was very stringy when wet. My hair began to shed a lot but they told me that it's normal because I hadn't brushed my hair in between styles. This again I trusted them. Sensing something was wrong I asked "why isn't my hair curling up like it used to? " they told me it was because we had did a lot of straight styles manipulating the hair so it was would take a few weeks and I would see my curls again. Wrong! Ladies it's been over 4 months of no heat or any manipulation to my hair and still when I wet my hair it's stringy straight and shedding. My hair has broken off significantly and it looks like I'm growing out a perm that I never even got. I write the review not to be mean but more as a warning for all you people out there. This situation has hit me particularly hard because I already have a hair loss condition , during my consultation with the owner I explained all my concerns and my goals for healthy hair and I'm very disappointed that I was taken advantage of by people that I thought actually cared and wanted to help but instead I was treated poorly.( not to mention they're pricy too) As a result I did more research and got several opinions from other salons and stylists and what happened to my hair. Turns out the stylists at the edge studio basically fried my hair to point where it won't even revert back to its natural state. Which make sense because my roots look natural ( after a few months) but the rest of the strands look straight n life less. It's a good possibility that I will probably have to cut my hair now thanks to my adventures at the edge studio one of the worst experiences of life smh . the choice is yours whether you decide to try this place! Wow! I honestly can't say enough positive things about this place. Good thing I kept looking after my horrible experience last week at The Studio in DC. Night and day. This place was great. And only two blocks from my home. Stylist: AnaMaria Cons: Not one! Pros: 1) My appointment was scheduled for 3:30pm. There was a massive storm that day so at 12:00 I received a call from the salon. I just knew it was a call to cancel. Which I honestly would have understood. The receptionist was calling to see if I could come earlier. Ummmm, yeah! I arrived at about 12:45pm. I thought this was very thoughtful. 2) Upon entering the salon I was greeted by the receptionist who was very friendly. In fact EVERYONE was friendly!!! The entire staff was attentive. 3) I filled out a client card which I found to be an extremely nice touch. After a very short wait Ana came out and introduced herself. She took me to her chair and started her consultation. I told her about my experience last week. She looked, asked questions and listened. She told me exactly what she was going to do. Very good communication and extremely professional. 4) I got a basic wash, blow dry and style. The wash was great. And it came with a deep condition. The style was good as well. She had to cut my hair much shorter than it was but I didn't mind since I knew it was uneven and unhealthy looking. I like it a lot. Overall, this was a great experience. Ana was the consummate professional. The salon was clean and the services were top notch. The staff was friendly (I think I was offered a beverage about 5 times). And it seems like the focus is on hair care! I sooooo wish I found this place earlier. I'll be back for sure! read more

I absolutely love this salon; they treat you like family and roll out the "red carpet" with warm customer service, yummy snacks, and a "hip" and esthetically pleasing salon decor. I initially called/visited the salon, as I was in desperate need of a "makeover". I had been trying to grow my hair out, but it was taking a very long time - my hair tends to grow "out" vs. grow in length. Also, there were some areas where my hair was broken off - I felt very frumpy and unattractive. When I consulted with AnaMarie, she was extremely warm & she listened to me. I tried to explain what I wanted, but wasn't exactly sure. I just knew that I was not happy with the way I looked. I remember she said to me, "you want something edgy (spelling?), something with "zip". That was exactly correct- I couldn't explain what I wanted, but when she said that it resonated with me. Not only did she cut and style my hair where I was 100% satisfied, but she (and her staff) took the time to treat my lifelong "problem" scalp. Unbelievable!!!!!! Some of the salons I've been to in the past have either done a great job with styling my hair OR cleaning my scalp-not both. Edge Hair studio did / and continues to do both!!!!!!! Completely satisfied with the service here and you will be too. You must try one of their Botanical treatments, along with one of their natural color treatments. I was looking for a salon that could help me tame my natural hair. I read some glowing reviews about the salon and the stylists so I decided to try it. The interesting thing is I've passed this salon many times and never noticed it. I went in and was greeted my a friendly young woman who asked me to fill out a client card. After a few minutes AnaMaria, master stylist, asked me sit in her chair and the magic began. I told her my struggle with my hair-dry and no shape. She listened to me then told me her recommendations. She is extremely knowledgeable about natural hair and how to take care of it. She suggested a cut that would compliment the shape of my face. I was so impressed by everything I saw and heard in that salon. The staff was friendly and professional in their treatment of the client and each other. The atmosphere is relaxing. The salon uses high quality hair products. I got the most flattering hair cut I've had in many years. I also bought the hair care products used on my head. She told me exactly how to use the products. I even got my eyebrows shaped and a young lady ( I didn't get her name but she's AnaMaria's daughter) used some concealer, blush and foundation on my face to open it up and highlight my cheeks. First time ever at the salon and it was a wonderful experience from the moment we walked in. Originally I was only there accompanying and was sitting in the waiting area. I was offered some coffee/tea by a very friendly staff member. Shortly after another staff member asked if I wanted to get my eyebrows done by, Stacey. I hesitated for a moment, again, I was only there accompanying and although I needed to get them done, wasn't thinking about it. However the lady was so pleasant, not pushy (we all hate those type of people) that I quickly changed my mind. She did mention that "Stacey" was very good at it. I agreed to it and she quickly went back to notify her. Stacey was very friendly and got right to work. For a moment I felt like just getting up (we've all had jitters about getting our eyebrows messed up and walking out looking crazy!) but Stacey seemed very professional and in control. I decided to just go with it, closed my eyes and let it be. I was extremely impressed at how thorough she was. Again, it's my first time there so I don't know what I was expecting but I felt like she went above and beyond. Once it was all said and done, she offered a few tips and that was that. One word - Amazing!!! As a women of color It has been difficult finding a hair salon that styles your hair while also giving tips to maintain healthy growth. My inital appt was with Stacy and she was absolutely amazing. She provided a consultation and discussed prices BEFORE starting my hair. No pushy sales pitch and just genuine hair tips and recommendations. I was in and out rather quickly and was able to attend a dinner I had previously cancelled (because I thought I'd be in the salon for hoursss). Stacy discussed with me products I used at home, how much time I was willing to spend on my hair daily, gave me an amazing cut that I will spend minimal time maintaining each morning before work, and told me the name of each and every product she used on my hair during the visit. NEVER have I ever received this level of service at a hair salon. Even though this salon is 40 minutes away, it is well worth the drive. Excellent Colors and Cuts After years of torturing my hair with DIY hair dyes, I ended up having 4-5 colors in my hair. (Aren't we all guilty of that ?!) My original hair color is dark brown; so naturally, it is quite challenging to go blonde. Because of this, I ended up having reds, browns, blondes in my hair, and most salons won't even touch it! After talking with a good friend who recommended The Edge, I decided to give it a try to get that one good, solid color and some nice thick bangs. Needless to say---they nailed it! The team was extremely patient and thorough during my consultation. In addition, they recommended the perfect shade to blend in all the colors I had in my hair. Oh, and, the bangs? They cut it almost as fast as a karate chop--- under 2 minutes, got a nice curve that compliments the shape of my face, and superb! Most importantly, it was exactly what I wanted! I had such a great first time experience at Edge salon! I moved into the area a couple of months ago from NJ, but found it hard to part ways with my hair stylist in NJ. Cedya is the BEST weaveologist in Maryland! Whenever she does my hair, I always love the result. She makes me feel more confident about myself and my hair. I explained what i wanted and how i wanted my hair done. Not only did she give me more than i wanted ( in a positive way ) she did it while making sure it wasnt going to damage my hair. She explained to me what my hair needed ( as in a treatment and such ) and how it was going to help. I have not been to any salon that is better than the edge. I also havent been to a better stylist for my weaves and natural styles. Cedya is literally the best. So if you want a weave, feed-in braids, crochet braids, or any other natural protective style .. Lois H. Been going to this salon for a couple of years. Ana Marie always takes great care of my hair. Yesterday I went in to have my hair colored for my "Summer Look". She did an excellent job on my hair. The color is absolutely gorgeous. My natural hair is a dark brown. She gave me a lighter brown as a base color then gave me highlights in a gradual variance of color. My hair color has depth which is what I love. Ana Marie is a master colorist. It looks like I have already spent time on the beach. In the past, the summer sun would give me steaks in my hair "free of charge." Now I go to Ana Marie to get them. I just moved into the neighborhood and Astra welcomes me with open arms. The decor, the products, and the customer service was great. I usually never write a review but my experience today compelled me to voice my satisfaction with this salon. And best of all.... she had me in and out with quality work. The hospitality was also a plus as i was able to have some sparkling water. I would also be remised if I did not comment on the very relaxing and thorough wash. I'm always pleased when I find a place that does a thorough was because I have locs and some places tend to short change you on the wash.... but not here.
