Whoever did the renovation here, really did a fantastic job. I checked into the Yelp app and bingo - FREE appetizer coupon!! I ordered the Lobster Guacamole ($14) - Fresh Avocado, Savory Lobster Chunks Topped with Pickled Red Onions Served with Tri-Color Tortilla Chips that was very good and for free made it taste even better. For dinner, I had the Steak Frites ($19) - 8 oz. Grilled Sirloin & Shoestring Fries that was also very good. The service was good, the ambiance was beautiful, and the food was good. TERRIBLE FOOD. I feel like I got scammed from this place. I ordered the eggs Benedict which advertised poached eggs, thick ham on sourdough bread. What I got should have been 1$ compared to the SIXTEEN dollars I paid. It was basically an egg on wonder bread with a thin slice of deli ham. Oh and the "fresh" fruit they advertise WAS STILL FROZEN WHEN THEY SERVED IT TO US. The only thing you're paying for here is the view of the park... please save your money and go literally anywhere else. Waffle House has better food than this. We enjoyed a nice walk around Cascades Park and the surrounding neighborhood and landed at the Edison. It was busy and we were told they did not staff for the crowd that showed up, but our service was fantastic and food on point, nevertheless! Michael served us and was super attentive, kept our waters full (no water can put a damper on enjoying a little spice in your food!!). There are very few places I've been to in Tallahassee that can compare to The Edison. From the moment you walk in the door you see smiling faces, delicious food and beverages, and you experience an ambience that makes you want to keep coming back! I personally tried every appetizer and a few different main courses and can attest that the new menu is outstanding. The wine selection was also impressive. I had dinner at the Edison tonight and it was a really nice ambient environment. Driving up to the restaurant, parking was rather easy to find and really convenient as it offered a curbside pickup for easy passenger access if it's raining or if someone were to get the car while you wait. Walking into the restaurant, I was greeted with such enthusiasm that it made me feel welcomed and I personally loved the interaction. You walk in and to the left you see a wall full of Edison lightbulbs which add to the aesthetic of the Edison restaurant then further down you see a grand staircase that leads to the upper deck and restrooms. My party and I sat on the first floor and it was really nice and a great environment. Also, I found it cool that when you meet the grand staircase going up to the deck, there is also one leading you to the kitchen and I found it nice that we can see the staff making the food. I ordered the Skyward Chicken and it came with a beautiful display of chicken with a side of mashed potatoes and asparagus with some cheese on top. Everything was delicious. My friend ordered a Moscow Mule and salmon with mashed potatoes. My only complaint is that I wish they offered more side dishes if you didn't want mashed potatoes. Don't get me wrong they tasted good but they only offered two types of salads if you didn't want the potatoes. Was hoping they offered either some rice, steamed vegetables or any other replacement for the potatoes. Beautiful venue, average food. My mom and I went for brunch, and we got in maybe 20 min after opening- so there were a few other guests around. But, that also means plenty of seating. For some reason our hostess puts us at a booth in the hallway right in front of the door to the outside porch, and also right next to another couple were were seated before us. Not only were were getting blasted with the cold wind (this is early January) every time the waiters were opening the door to get outside, there was no privacy bc we could hear the whole conversation of the other guests. There was PLENTY of other seating. So we move one booth up, still in the same booth row but away from the door and other couple. Food was pricey, but that was expected. We ordered the pickled onion rings as an app and they were SUPER good, very unique. It I'd a good combination of crunchy with the fry but maintains that sour pickle flavor. The breakfast tacos were decent- Edison uses the same "mexican breakfast" blend for three dishes on the menu: tacos, a bowl, and a burrito. So pick your fave. My mom got some sort of west coast Benedict, and she was really happy with it! It had a good mushroom flavor with it. When you make a reservation you don't expect to be pushed upstairs to a forgotten banquet/storage room where 6-8 tables appeared to have been hastily set-up to accommodate an overflow of customers but we went with the flow. We ordered martinis which were great BUT they were served in wine glasses because they ran out of martini glasses. We ordered the Daytona dip which was delicious and I highly recommend. It was so good and we would definitely order it again! One of us ordered the shrimp po' boy and I ordered the fish po'boy with the cod NO shrimp but they brought me shrimp which I didn't eat. The mistake was blamed on the kitchen but I feel it's the server's responsibility to make sure the order is right before they set it down in front of the customer. This place is way overpriced, the service was terrible with the exception of the hostess, she was great. We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and they had very few items on the menu (blamed it on a some nearby events for not having more menu items) and all of them were subject to a 3.5% additional charge for using a credit card to pay. I ended up ordering a Caesar salad $15 w/ chicken, an additional $6 charge. It was the equivalent of a side salad and a couple pieces of chicken thrown on top. 21 bucks for a side salad... The waitress couldn't be bothered with us, it was if we were a burden to her and we were wasting her time. Never came back to the table to refill our drinks or check on us. I wouldn't recommend a place that passes on a surcharge to the customer. It's a bad business practice. I see a lot of 4-5 star reviews about this place and maybe we just had a bad experience but it was the first impression. And it will be the last. read more

We looked and on mine there was NO chicken , my other 2 kids had 1 piece of chicken. The Caesar salad came out with the blackened chicken raw. And the other had shrimp. Both raw as well. We were invited to dinner with friends. I have never been to Edison. It was such a nice evening. Highly recommend coming here. So many reasons we enjoyed this dinner. 1st we were able to make a reservation on the website. This a low rating for me. First the good: Our server, Val, was delightful. It was her first day on tables, and with the exception of spilling a glass of wine (not a big deal, more on that in a moment), she did a great job. The food; was good, not great. Limited menu. I chose the pork chop dish, sigo opted for their signature chicken dish. Both a touch overdone, but good. The less than good. And I am willing to be convinced that I am in the wrong: Parking is really bad, and no valet option. We were seated in an overflow banquet space that took away from the experience. To be fair, they seated us fairly quickly as walk-ins, and I am sure covid-spacing made this necessary. Back to the spilled wine. Val was mortified, we were not; it happens. We moved tables and Val offered a glass of wine gratis. At the conclusion of dinner, I checked in on the Yelp app and saw the free glass of wine "coupon". I asked Val if it I could use it. She checked w Manager; I was told "that's not how it works" (the manager should have delivered the message, instead she gave it back to a first day server). They did comp one glass, and I tipped on the full amount, but I thought that was a little cheesy. So I welcome your feedback, maybe I expect too much. Had I been the manager I would have comped the two glasses we consumed. As a patron, that could tip me towards being a repeat customer, given that the food, though good, did not overwhelm. I also loved the decorations inside. Service: We had a kind waitress. There was a point where she seemed to have forgotten about us or didn't inform us of somethings that would have been helpful. However perhaps the menu could have explained the Bloody Mary wasn't going to be vegetarian. That's a small and easy fix. Food: This is where the experience fell completely flat for me. I ended up going with a wrap because it was lunch time. It is very hard to mess up a chicken Caesar wrap but this one missed the mark flavor wise and the chicken seemed over cooked. I noticed some pieces were brown as of they were cooking precooked chicken and dried it out. The overall consensus from the table was it was ok but it's off the brunch list.
