When's here to do a delivery extremely unhelpful staff sent me up to the wrong floor tried to take the staircase down as the elevator doesn't let you pick a for got stuck in the staircase, had no choice but to up all the way down to the lobby since all the doors are locked and was if you are resident and have a key. I'm sad to be writing this review and lowering my rating of The Emerson. I really want to be fair in this review. I've lived here for almost 8 years and have always had fantastic things to say about The Emerson. The units are nice (albeit a bit on the high market side). But, the maintenance issues here have become epic. The elevators are often down (one was down for almost 2 moths while they were waiting for parts), it was taking sometimes 10 minutes to get an elevator. The plumbing problems have increased, there always seem to be bursting or leaking pipes and residents are being displaced. I was displaced 4 years ago for a plumbing issue that required my shower be torn out. Residents are not talking about IF they will have to be displaced because of plumbing issues, but WHEN they inevitably will. Even the front lobby had a huge tent in the entryway for several weeks while maintenance is being done. The building is 9 years old. This isn't fault of the Emerson staff or Related. But, the issues remain in this "luxury" building. Secondly, the noise issue. Bunker Hill used to relatively quiet. Not so anymore. The noise from the new Metro Station on Hope Street has been constant construction. Worse, they were testing the PA system last week, and it echoed through the neighborhood with announcements. I work from home and that will NOT fly with me. Of course there is growing concern about what the street traffic will be like after the station opens up. Not to mention the current state of the Metro system and its current ridership. More on all that later, once it actually opens. Finally, there is nightly street racing on lower Grand and Hope street. Engines, cars skidding, It often wakes us up at all hours of the night. It's really bad. Know this before renting here. All of this comes at a time when The Emerson seems to be raising the rents at lease renewal time (some by 8%-10%)! It's hard to believe when rent prices have reportedly stabilized in L.A. County. I have been told when residents ask for a better deal (which has ALWAYS been the standard negotiating strategy here) management simply robotically claim, "It's the market" The average cost of the unit listed on their website is up several hundred dollars per unit than just a few months ago. Is Related trying to "reset the market?" It certainly feels that way. Educated people know this happening all over the country by corporate real estate companies, I didn't think Related would be one of them. I have another 6 months on my lease. I hope things improve and I hope the Metro station doesn't bring down the neighborhood. I have loved living on Bunker Hill and have loved The Emerson. I also hope the management staff approach its residents with a bit more humanity and not just throw spreadsheets and market numbers at us. I am wondering if it is time to rent from a private party and leave my corporate-owned real estate home, I hope things will soften back to the previous warmth and kindness we felt just a year or two ago from The Emerson and Related. Can you raise rents by 8-10%, probably.....but should you? These are my thoughts. I WILL keep you updated. read more

Wonderful building in the best and safest area of downtown LA. The units all have high end appliances, fixtures and finishes are all nice and high quality. The only negative is the price per square foot which is almost becoming the norm in brand new buildings now-a-days. read more

I love living in DTLA! Pauline and Anita hate working DTLA. -Anita NEVER says hello to me. I even stated "That's rude" when she didn't say hi to me but said "How's it going?' to another resident hanging out with me when leaving the lobby in the last couple of days. The fellow neighbor of mine also noted how rude that was and saw a very embarrassed Anita. Anita is sarcastically mean and cruel when there are no witnesses around. But when you put her in her place with witnesses, that will get to her head and leave her ashamed of herself. She acts like she owns the place and thinks she is the general manager because she is the one telling people the rules that doesn't exist. Congratulations, on your promotion Anita. Too bad the REAL general manager, Maria, is being overshadowed. I'm sorry you HATE your job, Anita! -Pauline NEVER says hello to me. These two might as well be sisters. I got very upset when she was uberly sweet to my guests but not to me in my presence. I complained about it to her in front of the maintenance guy and she looked very uncomfortable. Bottom line: These concierges won't change their attitudes to accommodate a luxury place. It is about time to replace them with better staff. Corporate Rental Rentals, which is a super great company, needs to take note and finally make a great choice and not the poor choice of keeping Anita and Pauline here working at the Emerson. Future tenants beware until this problem is solved. The new manager Maria Ochoa and the assistant manager Chris Sledd have done nothing to combat this issue. I came here recently for a friends birthday party. Modern building, even the elevators are high tech with touch screens (fancy). Helpful concierge at the front desk. Great first impression. The party was held in a penthouse suite. Gorgeous wraparound views of DTLA, lots of cozy seating with a fireplaces to boot. Very spacious suite with lots of amenities. Seems like it would be a very cool place to live for the single crowd. Waking distance to restaurants, museums etc. The Broad is right next door. 5/5 read more

The apartments have quality finishes with unique touches and the property has some of the best amenities I've ever seen. I have just moved out after nearly 4 years. We only left to relocate closer to work. We throughly enjoyed our time at The Emerson and feel like it is one of the best options in downtown LA. While not everything is always perfect the staff usually tried to make it so once any issue is bright to their attention. I would happily love their again if I needed a place in the area. I still agree with everything in my original review regarding the subsidized tenants and felt like ALL of my neighbors added to the inviting feeling of our lobby and facilities. Emerson is spectacular in terms of its amenities and its staff. Each apartments in Emerson that I visited during the showing had great layouts and huge storage space. Views of select units are ridiculous - you get to see the Broad, Wall Disney Musical Hall, and the mountains. The gym is large, the penthouse lounge is modern and clean, and the library is excellent for people who work remotely. The staffs (Ilene, Chris, and the concierges) are extremely friendly and helpful. The Emerson is definitely one of the best luxurious apartment in LA. read more

Everyone working here is super duper nice and accommodating. I haven't had any negative interactions from both leasing office agents Ilene and Chris, or any of the concierges. Building itself is insane, super luxurious, cool views (of course depends where you face), awesome amenities and lounges. Apartment is well kept, modern kitchen and bathrooms. I like the nest thermostat. Parking garage is nice and clean and haven't had anyone hit my car yet. :-D Phone reception could get spotty up top, but the rooftop lounge has wifi! read more

It's beautiful building, and the address, 3 blocks from my office, and 1 block from Disney Hall is perfect, but I moved out just as soon as my very expensive 1 year lease was up. Here's the honest situation: the building has a large contingent of government subsidized tenants, I heard 20%. Many of these Section8 tenants are people you would never want as neighbors, much less pay a huge amount in rent and still have to put up with their unpleasant and disgusting low-class behavior. there were times I felt unsafe around some of these residents that looked violent and mentally disturbed. I've read other reviews that call the Emerson ghetto, and it's accurate. These people abuse the building and amenities, and many consistently behave badly. I wish I had read some reviews before signing a lease here, but Yelpers learn from my mistake. You don't want to live here. PS, I've received a vaguely threatening and very insulting (though nearly illiterate) response regarding my review, so I've hit a nerve with at least one possible resident, who I immediately blocked. Anyone looking at an apartment here be warned, the sales-staff will not clearly point out that 1/5th of the tenants are essentially wards of the state. read more

I would have to say, this is probably the best building with the best staff I've encountered in the past 5 years. At Emerson, there are probably 20% Affordable Housing tenants here. It's actually not that unusual to have them now-a-days, because I think the apartment complex owner gets a big break on their mortgage, subsidized by the government program. Knowing that's the case, I never felt I was bothered by them. Everyone I've encountered here in the building, are just so nice, so friendly. The concierge desk is always very helpful. They constantly do that extra mile, to help us get our packages wrongfully delivered to the next building (225 vs 255, many of the deliveries were missed, and that happens like once every few month) The porters are really nice, Caeser constantly keep the elevators, lobby, gym, bathroom in common area super clean. It's as when he's not there, I actually would miss the chlorine smell in the elevator sometimes. Andrew is great at maintaining all the things in the building. Emma & Ilene are also very helpful with everything else. I would try to stay here for as long as I can, unless they increase the rent unreasonably. I would highly recommend this place, as the location here is definitely the prime Downtown Los Angeles could offer at its finest. Music center, MOCA & The Broad Museum are right next to us. Farmer's market at BofA building is literally 3 mins walk. Grand Central Market is minutes walking distance from us. My car is almost just a backup. Driving really is optional here. Walking is just so fun in DTLA. You can probably get away without a car if everything you need is within reach. Walk score is 96 (I'm sure no one would be able to tell the difference between a 96 and 100). read more

Very beautiful building inside and out. The grounds are kept clean and is very safe and secure. The staff are very nice and tentative to the needs of the residents. The amenities are plush. The only thing is I wish we had a balcony. As well, the cost of parking I feel is a little high and there is no good parking anywhere else. read more

Disregard the negative reviews and I understand why they are there, but that was when the OLD resident manager was here. I currently live here and I love this place!! Not only is the staff and concierge friendly and extremely helpful now since they got rid of that old manager I think his name was Bill the Emerson had turned back to the Oasis in downtown that it was when I first moved here. The NEW resident manager(s) Emma & Addy are extremely nice, helpful and easy to talk to. The maintenance manager Henry is Awesome!! Very cool and funny very well trained and knowledgeable and get things fixed quickly the first time!. Call the concierge a rock but I got to give a special shout out to my boy Troy takes extra good care of me if you go there tell him I sent you. I love living here, I really do the Emerson has a lot of events for the residents from Valentine's Day Champagne brunch to Super Bowl parties and I heard this summer even pool parties with a DJ (now that's cool), and other exclusive events such as early opening private showing of The New Broad Museum which is located right next door and receive a free year membership to MOCA (Museum of contemporary Art) which is located across the street. DO NOT LEASE HERE. Consider this your warning. The leasing office will try to sell you on the "luxury" of the building, but they won't tell you that there's government subsidized housing (low income housing) inside the Emerson. Which means, you'll be paying $3500 a month for the same space that someone else is paying $500 a month for. Yeah, the amenities look nice. But everything is constantly overrun by the low income housing people who bring their entire extended families and friends here. These people don't respect the space. One time I saw a lady prop her dirty bare feet up on the pillows in the library, talk about disgusting. The management is also slow to respond to any service request. They have "resident service specialists" here but what do they even do? Any time I've had a request it took forever to even get a response. One time they sent a maintenance person to my apartment unit when I hadn't requested one. He just unlocked my door and came inside with no warning! I was so freaked out, and all he said was "I was told to come here, they must have written down the wrong unit number." It made me feel so unsafe to live here, because now I know they will try to access my apartment without my permission. Who knows how many times they came in while I wasn't home? It makes me shudder just thinking about it. I feel like it should be illegal for this property to lie to the residents who pay full price and end up having to live amongst the people who don't. I can't wait to move somewhere else. I never would have signed a lease at Emerson had I known all the things I know now. DON'T get sucked into the lies they tell you here. I've lived in luxury high rises in downtown for the last 4 years, and this is by far the WORST building I've been in. read more

How does an 800-square-foot box with windows that don't open sound? Pretty good, I know. How about at the rock-bottom price of $3,400 a month? I know, it sounds too good to be true. But it isn't! It's all yours at The Emerson. Don't forget the insane amount of rules and email communications involved. So many rules you can't even remember what you're supposed to do to be able to use the roof and the rec room. Emails come sometimes five times a day. I'll turn the sarcasm off for a second and be honest here. It was OK living here. Just OK. The pool had too many kids in it, the gym was too small and like I said, we were always confused about the whole rec room/roof situation. So we didn't use the amenities. When you consider that along with the price and the size of our place, it just wasn't worth it. We had another unfortunate experience. For some reason we still don't understand, our dog hated the place. She's 15 and never had any problems barking, but here, she would bark nonstop whenever we left, which generated complaints, which generated eviction threats. We ended up having to take her to a doggie daycare for $700 a day, plus the added joy of driving through downtown at rush hour twice a day. Overall there were just too many negatives for us for what turned out to be $4,100 a month with the doggie daycare included. And still, I never would have written this review if they hadn't done the most unforgivable thing upon move-out. They charged us $100 for paint and $150 for cleaning! We left the place spotless. I mean, I took apart the oven, microwave and refrigerator. I scrubbed everything. Some things would have required extra cleaning, such as the glass shower, because it's super hard to get that glass completely spotless. I blame them for choosing the glass. It should be on them to get an apartment in 100 percent tip-top shape for the next renter. I've lived in apartments my entire adult life and never had a single complex try to squeeze every last penny out of me like The Emerson. Our overpriced rent was one thing, charging us $100 for their shitty paint is just ridiculous. It's so chintzy and classless. Overall, the staff at The Emerson treated us very well. A special shout-out to Daryl. He's the man. But the management, I really can't say much positive about the experience. Now we're living in a 1,200-foot-square house just a mile away for the same amount of rent. Front porch and front and big back yard. It's beautiful and we've never been happier. On top that, we are so relieved not to be putting $4,100 a month into a place where we don't love to live. I would never recommend The Emerson to anyone. Go find a place that at least has a balcony or windows that open, for God's sake. read more

I was visiting a friend who lives here and thought about potentially seeking a place for myself since it's new and seemed like a nice place to live. But to be honest, for the price, the size of the units are pretty small and don't really feel "worth it". I took a tour of the amenities and they were pretty standard, I wasnt really impressed by anything. The rooftop is pretty but it doesn't look well maintained, so I doubt I would really use it much. The thing i disliked most was that It's a non smoking building, however walking through the hallway I could smell both cigarette and marijuana smoke. read more

Wanted to give an updated review. The building is making efforts for much improvements. Management has been replaced with more efficient/approachable personnel. Creating a non hostile environment upon tenants and management. The amenities are debatable. Although the emerson offers luxurious accommodation, you will have to be a member in order to use them. A payment of 750.00 which i suppose will limit the abuse that I have seen on both levels subsidized and market rate. My personal views on "subsidized" housing. Personally i believe the reasons for the division among our residents is income. We insist on calling them poor. Classifying our tax bracket as rich. I do not know if a tenant is alleged to pay what you claim but it does not matter. Im sure none of you even took time to talk to them and ask to obtain actual facts. Everyone i have incountered has always been respectful, polite and courteous. Over all the building is fairly new and i see potential in the staff for making improvements. Those will come with trail and error. Its quite at the emerson you will encounter people through passing only. Dogs are a problem but maintenance does a good job with up keeping considering 65% of all residents here have dogs. I still would not recommend living here unfortunately. Although i can see a promising future for the emerson it still needs alot of work. read more

There are plenty of wonderful places to live here in DTLA. Great amenities, amazing views, secure elevators, parking, pool...the offerings are endless and competitive. Customer Service/ Concierge, Community, and experience is what really sets The Emerson apart. The Staff here is consistent and my experience with Latasha & Anita (concierge) has been consistent since day 1 (been here 3 years). This place is absolutely incredible. I would highly, highly recommend moving here if you are considering it. A few months ago my wife and I moved from The Piero in the Westlake area as we weren't entirely happy with our situation there. We looked at: Watermarke Tower, 1010 Wilshire, 717 Olympic, Apex, Hanover, The Vermont, 8th & Hope, and more. All were very impressive, especially the Watermarke, but The Emerson ended up with the W. PROS: - Building is brand spanking new (built in 2014 I believe) and amenities are very modern and high-tech, including the elevators, Nest thermostat, washer/dryer, fridge, dishwasher, etc. The decor is beautiful. - Walls and floors are very thick. I believe there's 3-4 inches of concrete in between the walls. You can't hear a peep from the neighbors. - The Price. Very competitive. We got a pretty good deal for our spot compared to all the other luxury complexes we looked at. - The staff! 24 hour concierge makes us feel very secure and they are there for you any time of day. From day one Justin has been extremely accommodating and ultra friendly, not to mention a very quick communicator if something is needed. Same with Addy. Troy at the front desk is also awesome. I've never encountered a staff and management team so on top of everything. They keep the building spotless. A complete 180 compared to our last apartment complex. The trash room even smells amazing with the cleaner they use. - Breathtaking views, especially from the penthouse lounge. We absolutely love our south view of Hope Street and the surrounding buildings. Perfect amount of light during the day. - Great location (quiet, clean, little traffic, right next to the Broad, MOCA, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Grand Central Market, Grand Park, etc). - Extremely pet friendly. There's a doggy run and spa at the foot of the building. Our pup loves it here. - Having Otium next door. Incredible food and even better cocktails. Lastly, I want to quickly address the people complaining about the Section 8 low income housing residents. I have not encountered one single issue amongst any of the residents here. I work from home and frequent all the amenities in the building including the pool, rooftop, library, and gym, and have not encountered any issues whatsoever. In fact, quite the opposite. Every resident I have encountered has been so friendly and kind. I commend The Emerson for opening up/offering this opportunity. Honestly, it's not even noticeable. They should be proud of the diversity this building offers. It's a joy to live here, my wife and I will certainly be staying for years to come. read more

I've lived here for just about a year with my boyfriend in a junior 1 bedroom. Really pretty, simple room with a semi-open floor plan that makes one room feel like a few small ones. Big walk-in closet. V nice bathroom. Comes with own washer and dryer - while we had some problems with the dryer, that was great to have in the room. Our side faced Hope St. and had some really pretty views of downtown buildings plus really beautiful sunset light. You get just the right amount of sun 'n light throughout the day. Everyone who works at the Emerson - ESP front desk concierge and utilities - is awesome. Really genuine, helpful and capable people. In a building that's all about privacy and security (and they do it v well - with your key cards you only have access to the parking garage floors, the first floor, the roof, and your floor), the beautiful (inside n out) people who stand up at that desk every day make it feel like a community. Both Troys, Justin, Darrell, Terrell and many others. The pool and rooftop spaces are beautiful and the grills are awesome. We were lucky in that the amenities were free when we first signed our lease - for new leasers, you have to pay an extra amenities fee to use some of the amenities. The gym is sick, though - a full functioning state of the art gym with a yoga room. Your gym membership is essentially included. Steam rooms in the bathrooms downstairs, too. I was pretty disgusted to read the reviews that call out the low income housing as a "shock" or "betrayal" of the building. Everyone I have encountered here in the common spaces and beyond has been really nice and just about having a home. I did not experience any people misusing the common areas or acting any sort of way besides normal. Everyone is really nice and is excited to be living in a place they're proud to call home. That's it. If you want a luxury housing experience that cuts out exactly the "type" of people you don't want to see or be around, find another way to self-segregate. read more

I love living at The Emerson. After living in a Palmer complex (piero, Medici, etc), moving here was the best decision my husband and I have made. Reasons why the Emerson is great: 1. Staff. The staff is always so friendly, informative, and actually super helpful. If there are any issues they are always available and willing to help. From Justin in leading, to Addy, to every concierge and maintenance individual, all are sweet, awesome, and enjoyable. 2. Concierge. Having a concierge is really nice and makes the experience of having guests or an event super easy. 3. Apartments. Each apartment has a pretty good view and is laid out well. The ceilings are tall which makes it extremely open and each of the appliances are modern and up to date (such as nest and this amazing fridge). 4. Price. Yes it is a little pricier than other properties but I think it's worth every dollar for what you get! Everyone here is friendly and keeps to themselves and I don't think section 8 is an issue (compared to what other yelpers say). I appreciate the diversity here and think most residents respect the community amenities very well. read more

We have had an amazing experience touring and looking for a studio with Christopher. During the tour we also noticed that the amenities at the Emerson are not only top notch but very well maintained. All the units had high end appliances including the Boche Washer and Dryer that we liked the most. Chris has been incredibly insightful and helpful in the process. I recently moved to The Emerson from Santa Monica and it's the best building that I've lived in. I was nervous making the transition to DTLA, but I'm so happy I did! The staff is responsive and super friendly. The facility is always clean and well maintained. I love The Emerson's finishes and awesome amenities. The pool area is very luxurious and the gym is well equipped. Not to mention the gorgeous DTLA views! I'm eager for the ground floor restaurant to open (talk about convenience!). I moved out to LA recently for work. I work in DTLA and The Emerson couldn't be more convenient. High end luxury building with service and amenities like NYC, without NYC prices! Good sized apartments and very quiet - very seldom hear neighbors and never hear traffic. Pool, gym, common areas are all well appointed with nice equipment and furnishings. Great area - close to Disney Music Hall and Broad museum and not even a far walk to the Staples Center and LA Live. Ilene in the leasing office is fantastic and the security/concierge guys are a delight. 5 Stars! read more

I am often approached in the lobby of the building by prospective residents as to what it's like to live in the Emerson. I usually ask them have you ever stayed in a five star hotel and if so you know what it's like to live in the Emerson. The staff has been chosen with such care that each of them make you feel part of a larger family. Latasha, Chris and Anita are great at the front desk. Andrew the head of our maintenance is one of the most Pleasant people you'll ever meet Emma the building manager is a professional through and through and really cares that our building is the best it can be. The building is inviting, there are areas for residents to come and meet have coffee, tea and just relax. The pool, the grounds, and all the amenities are top rate. Having been here since January 2015 I have a good feel of the building and the residents and it is very rare that you pass someone in the hallways and they don't greet you and know you by name. I love living here and I urge you to come by and see what a special place the Emerson is. Quick update Thanksgiving 2017: went to a cocktail party the night before Thanksgiving at a neighbor's apartment and to our surprise every single one of us had signed new leases to live here for one more year. It kind of tells you something about how special a place this is. And to their credit, the Emerson management has not forgotten our veterans, or our disabled citizens and those less fortunate and allowed a small number to live within the complex. A community is not a single color but a beautiful kaleidoscope and the Emerson has tried it's best to create a community within the walls of our building. In the two years that I've used Yelp, I've never been inspired to write a review until now, and I'm so excited to share that The Emerson is my muse! Having recently returned to the west coast after a 5-year stint in NYC, I honestly didn't know what to expect from Downtown LA living; but The Emerson has made it an incredible experience thus far and I haven't missed NYC for a second. I don't live at The Emerson my boyfriend does. And I love this place I love the staff is very luxurious I love Starbucks coffee machine, in the gym is state of the art I use it every day. The lounge area is very nice and quiet it feels like you're at home. The penthouse is amazing 360° views from Hollywood and never saw the financial district and you can also see the Disney concert hall is very very cool. I love the concierge here they always take care me, especially Justin since the first days he's always looked out so well,he is a very nice guy, You can stop and have a conversation with him, he's always so friendly and and a great mood. Thank you so much Justin. Also the Emerson is located in a very good location across from MOCA and next to the new Broad museum. Although there's not many places to eat (outside of business hours ) or shop around here I still love the area and this place makes me love downtown and I'm not a big fan of city living. read more

I have friends who are residents here. Coming to LA for Harry Potters opening my friends got me and my family(wife and 8 yo son) a guest suite here for $199 per night. First impressions was..WOW! So much better than a hotel room. Full kitchen and bedroom was awesome. Location was great. Easy walk to Grand Central Market and Little Tokyo for great food. Would highly recommend staying here if you know a resident living here at The Emerson. Right next door to the very popular BROAD museum. Bonus was the use of the nice pool/jacuzzi and sauna. Loved my stay here and would definitely stay here again the next time we come down to LA. read more

My husband and I just moved out of the Emerson after living there for 2.5 years, and for the sake of closure I need to write this to express my gratitude for the time we were lucky enough to live there. We were unsure about living downtown when we started looking, but as soon as we found The Emerson it was apparent this time of our lives would be magical. The Location: There is no better place to live in all of Los Angeles. Not an overstatement. We had a corner unit which had huge windows that looked right into the olive trees in front of the stunning Broad Museum and across Grand Ave at the Colburn School and the MOCA. All of these buildings are impeccably maintained and artistically lighted at night, and I will never again look at so gorgeous a view outside my windows. It was a stunning backdrop for our lives. I felt like I lived IN a museum the way we were surrounded. We looked down onto the Broad lawn and always saw people with picnics, cute instagramming teens, people napping or reading, children on field trips, and even occasional events like big concerts or cooking demos by the restaurants next door. All of these places have their own 24 hour security as well, so there is no question that this is the safest place to live downtown. There isn't even gum on the sidewalks. It's also ONE BLOCK from the Music Center, and we constantly attended performances by the LA Phil and saw stuff we never would have seen otherwise. Grand Park is two blocks away and is perfect for picnics, evening walks, morning runs, weekend naps, etc. In additional to the surrounding high culture, it's also across the street from a huge selection of fast-casual spots for lunch, as well as a liquor store, a Pressed Juicery, and lots of fitness options. It's also a 15 minute walk from Whole Foods and Grand Central Market. I did all my errands on foot. The People: Ilene was our loyal ally from the minute we toured the building. She is effective, efficient, kind, and so good at her job. Emma started working there after we moved in, and she went to bat for us big time when the restaurant beneath us started playing music too loud. It was not an easy problem to fix, and she worked really hard to find a solution and negotiate with the restaurant, which she did successfully. They were both actually *heroic* in the circumstances surrounding our move-out. We had to break our lease on very short notice, and both of them jumped into action to find any possible way the corporate powers-that-be would let us off the hook. I am still actually a little in shock that they were able to pull off the exit strategy that completely saved us, even though we were the ones backing out of our contract. They saved us tens of thousands of dollars and were 100% on our team. It was such a special act of service that I think my faith in humanity is permanently altered. While their service was above-and-beyond, we were thrilled with the whole staff. The front desk people did countless special favors for us, the maintenance staff was prompt and kind and excellent, and the place is immaculate at all times. The Building: Our apartment was a showstopper, and I think it's the prettiest place I'll ever live. We also had countless memorable parties and dinners on the roof, used the pool all the time, loved the phenomenal gym, and had great garage parking. It's more secure than Fort Knox, has a dry cleaning delivery service, and just looks beautiful all the time. *If you are considering this building, do NOT stress about the 20% Section 8/subsidized housing residents. There are some characters, but never once did a problem arise due to this population, and frankly it added a lot to our lives to get to know some people leading lives that are different from our homogenous group of friends and colleagues. Suffice it to say this building gave us an unforgettable, wonderful chapter of our lives that we will always remember with a smile. read more

My husband and I really enjoy the Emerson. We have lived in quite a few of the really nice high rise buildings in downtown LA and this is the first time we are renewing our lease, so that says a lot! The staff is amazing. Everyone from the concierge to the leasing manager is extremely helpful. They are all wonderful people. The residents are all great. Everyone I've encountered has been really nice, polite, and friendly. The apartment itself is one of the nicest we have ever lived in. Extremely high quality appliances. We never hear our neighbors (which is unheard of in apartment living). That speaks to the quality of the building construction. Lastly, the location is my favorite in downtown LA. It's away from the craziness of any major city but still in the middle of it all, being right next to the museum and Grand Park. I'm at work all day during the week but I love leaving my apartment on the weekend because it feels like I'm on vacation when I step outside. Definitely recommend the Emerson to anybody looking in downtown LA. read more
