For the 7th time my piercings closed up after countless visits to other piercing vendors. Came here on a Saturday and I had to wait a little over 30 minutes to get my piercings. Trey was very personable and listened to my concerns of getting my earlobes re-pierced. He made sure I was content with my piercings and gave me after-care advices before I left. Not to mention the piercing was painless and I have low pain tolerance. It was pricey though, but for the amount of times I dealt with unprofessional piercers and my piercings closing up or getting infected - this piercer's skill and knowledge made it worth it. I wish they had a sign that lists the price for different piercings - and warned me that each individual earring is a separate price cuz I got a pair and was a little blown away by the total cost of the piercing and earrings - but you can always ask the people in front to make sure. I had been going to this place for a while; it is currently under new management, and this is meant to be an honest review of my recent experience. I went in to get my second holes repierced. They were done over 10 years ago and were done too low on my earlobe by the original piercer so I asked to have them higher up than the original piercings. The piercer marked my ears and I said, "I still think they're too low," but the piercer said, "it just looks low in the marking but they won't look that low." Ok... He pierced the right one first, which he then kept fussing with because he thought the strap of my mask was pushing the jewelry in a weird direction (not sure why he let me keep the strap over my ears - I said many times I could remove the strap and hold the mask in place while he pierced me and he refused). He then pierced the left one. And guess what! Still too low. I left confused as to how the very piercings I was trying to fix were suffering from the same problem when I specifically went in with a mission to have them higher. So I called the next day and explained how I didn't like them and he told me, "I thought you said you wanted the new piercing to cover the original holes; that's why I pierced them so close." What! I did not say this! My boyfriend was there the entire time and also verified that I did not say this! When I got back to the shop, the piercer did not bring this back up and just said basically, yeah, I guess you were right about not liking the placement yesterday - I was glad he acknowledged that. He took out the piercings from the day before and repierced them right above. I'll admit I was kind of surprised he went ahead and did the piercings again; I thought for sure they would make me wait for the ones he just did to close up. I'm no expert, though, & this is just my opinion. So now, here I am with what I'm almost positive is an infected piercing in my right ear, and a very bloody piercing on my left (I have 12 other piercings and none of them have bled as much as these two). Ultimately, I'm happy my piercings are fixed and that represents the only star this place will get from me, and this is the end of my rant. I hope that now I have gotten all of this off my chest I may be able to stop thinking about how annoyed I am. Thanks for your time. I came here on a spontaneous whim on a Saturday night. I had done my rook almost 5 years ago at a shop up the block (i don't remember the name and i think it changed name/owners because it didn't look the same) so I knew I wanted to come back to St. Marks. I yelped different places on the street. Everything went great! The man in the front was helpful and not at all annoyed with all my questions concerning different prices and jewelry. He was patient with me while I decided if i wanted my tragus, helix, or conch pierced. I decided on my Tragus and purchased a replacement jewelry for the rook. Orin was my piercer. He was super knowledgeable, made you feel comfortable, and super hygienic. The piercing did not hurt at all for me. Orin was able to take out and put in the new rook earring as well. I will definitely come back for any future piercings!Overall it was a better experience than my last piercing. read more

I had a great experience here. I walked in to get my second piercings, both in my lobes. I waited about 10 minutes before I was called back for my piercing, which was clean, professional, and quick-- but not rushed, my piercer allowed me to adjust where I wanted them before she did it, and I felt she listened to me really well and answered all of my questions. Every piercing I've ever gotten in the past has gotten infected, partly because I have a nickel allergy, and these piercing have never had a single issue. They had a great selection of beautiful, high quality 14k earrings and were really helpful as I picked out the jewelry that wouldn't irritate my ears. I am revising my review of 1 Star to 3 Stars! Although I'd give them more like 3.5. I brought a friend here because I liked this place a lot and she wanted to get her nose pierced. They did a good job walking her through the procedure and what to expect. She enjoyed the service and the jewelry. Their sterilizing equipment is top of the line, the rooms are clean, the guys working here know what they are doing, and the jewelry is beautiful. I feel safe and clean here. I came to them with a broken piece of jewelry. It was an expensive piece. They said it would be ready in a couple weeks and that I should be expecting a call. But when no one would pick up the phone I showed up in person in the time they said would be fixed by and they said their phones were down and I saw my piece sitting on the counter, not even sent out yet. All in all it took them months, over 3 months. So the only problem I had was with their reliability. I had a lot of communication issues with this place. No one answered the phone for a while, to which they responded that their phone was having issues (for 2 weeks, really?). I emailed and no one responded. They claimed the number they had for me was wrong. But I emailed them too, and nothing. I paid for my piece upfront so I was concerned when there was no response and when they asked me what my jewelry looked like. Nonetheless they recognized this problem and apologized for the communication issue. Still, they didn't have my jewelry in the time promised (a couple weeks vs a couple months is a big difference). When I agreed for them to insert the jewelry in for me, they said it will cost $10. But as I gave them my credit card, they said, hey don't worry about it, so it was free for my inconvenience. That was nice of them. It was repaired and inserted well. If I had jewelry in need of repair and a time constraint I wouldn't rely on this place again. But I would come here again if I wanted to get another piercing or new piece of jewelry because I know how sanitary and how good of a job they do here. read more

DO NOT COME TO THIS STORE. I went with my friend to get her septum pierced (after seeing the good reviews) and the man who did the piercing used a maligned clamp resulting in the needle only piercing through half of the cartilage, hitting the clamp on the other side. After this botched attempt, the man then tried again with the SAME needle. We primarily thought that he was using a new clamp but in reality he had tried to bend it back into place using his fingers. Once he pierced her septum the second time, it was not even and had been inserted at a slant angle, once again messing up the piercing. Throughout all this, she was bleeding and crying onto her shirt. Finally, after the third time, the piercing was successfully completed. While my friend was speaking with the man who performed the piercing about cleaning, I asked the man up front (not the manager) whether it would be possible to get a discount on the services. He refused. We politely thanked him and left. After speaking to locals and nearby tattoo shops, we realized that the average cost for a septum piercing was in fact $25-$35 and not the $80 they charged us. In addition, we were told that not only is it unsanitary for the same needle to be used repeatedly on the same person, but redoing the piercing within a few days much less mere minutes makes the piercing prone to infection. When we returned to the store to inquire about a possible discount, the man upfront was rude and refused to even have a conversation with us. He also refused to give us his name, his manager's name, or the owner's name. I've attached his picture. I am furious and disappointed in the way this office treated us. Do NOT get a piercing at this place. The piercing method here is dated and unsanitary. They do not use piercing guns here, but I am sure you will save a lot more in medical expenses by going to a cleaner, slightly pricier parlor. The real problem is the guy who runs the place (bald middle aged man). A week after my piercing, part of the stud had fallen off but the boss insisted that I pay full price to replace the poor job they had done. The jewelry on sale has given my infections too and I have no known adverse reactions to surgical steel or any inferior metals. I personally think that the jewelry on sale is overpriced and the quality is highly questionable. Buyers beware. read more

I was freaking out a tiny bit beforehand, and he showed me everything being sterilized to calm my nerves. For The actual piercing he marked three different locations to give me options. When he pierced it, I felt NOTHING! He's an artist, truly :) He also noticed that my tragus piercing (done at Andromeda, perhaps the worst shop in NYC) was angled way off. Except for my earlobes that my parents pierced when I was too young to know what was going on, I have never pierced anything...until now! My friend recommended this spot and I pierced my right nostril with an adorable stud. I went back exactly 4 months later for a new stud. Both Rafael (first time) and Jose (second time) were very friendly and professional. I came back a week after I changed my 2nd stud because my dog stepped on my face and bent and pulled my stud out of my nose. I thought it was a goner but Jorge was able to replace it for no charge (which is awesome because I had just bought it for nearly $170). They are also sending my bent piece back to the manufacturer to be repaired for free. The jewelry isn't cheap but the place is very sterile and the service is excellent. I recommend to first timers for sure. And anyone else looking for a reputable piercing parlor. I look forward to coming back for my piercing/jewelry needs. read more

Everyone else who worked at the shop was friendly, but my experience with the bald, middle aged man is enough of a reason not to go back. He appears to be the shop manager or the owner. I have gotten my brow pierced for $80 which is probably most expensive price out of Saint-marks. So I'm expecting good customer service and after care. The piercer was gentle and the process was painless. But when I have gone back couple times to see if they could take a look and see if I can change to a smaller bead. I had to explain several times because this guys sits in the front is just lazy and not trying to help me but to turn me away. The second time I had gone back, he told me because they were busy. If this is a business and a brand you are running, you don't just take the money but you should also be maintaining it for your brand? I read the reviews and many people had similar experience. I wish I had nice things to say about this place, but I don't. My friend and I got our first cartilage piercings here many years ago (about 6) and we both have permanent scars from the experience. She got a rook piercing and I had the middle part of my outer ear pierced. The experience was painful and the staff was unprofessional. My friend's ear got so infected that her body actually pushed the earring out and left her with disconnected cartilage and a scar, while my piercing never healed properly and caused a rather large keloid to form on both sides of my ear. A few months into nursing the infected piercing, I decided to go back to Jewels 32 to see if they could recommend a different earring for me or a different cleaning routine. The guy at the counter did not recommend that I do anything different (or even tell me to take it out to prevent scarring!!), and sold me a large gaged earring to replace the smaller one that I was originally pierced with. I didn't know any better so I let him put it in my ear. If anything, this made the infection worse. And I was $50 poorer. My friend and I have both recovered from this horrible experience, and have since found other much more reputable jewelry stores to have our piercings done at. I currently have a healthy cartilage piercing and a nose piercing. I will never go back to Jewels 32 again. read more

I have always walked out and felt that I had dealt with professional individuals. I came here twice in the past 3 months to get forward helix jewelry- Unfortunately, my experience was not as it had been previously. I found out that George no longer owns this establishment and the new owner is extremely rude, unprofessional and the prices are ridiculous. Unprofessional, unreliable, over-priced and very poor customer service. The people who pierce and replace piercings consistently do not know what they are doing, nor do the sales people. I had been a loyal customer here for two or three years because the jewelry selection was decent and slightly different, so I had spent quite a bit of money here, to the point where one of the guys who works there recognized me when I came in. Yesterday I went in to get new nose jewelry and have the nose ring changed out too. First of all, after buying almost $200 worth of jewelry, the "peircing guy" was away so couldn't help me while I was there. I agreed I would come back in two hours and made an appointment to do so. It was really inconvient and seemed unprofessional, but what could I do? When you go to a peircing place, you expect a peircer on duty at all times....but not here. When I came back 2 hours later, the guy who changed out my nose jewelry was the same guy who I saw present in the store when I had been there two hours before. Why he couldn't have done it then, I have no idea? When I go back into the room with him, he pulls out my nose ring. Only then to discover the sales guy in front had knowingly (he later admitted he realized it before I bought it but "forgot" to tell me)) sold me a piece of jewelry that was way too thick and big for my nose peircing hole. Only then did they also inform me they did not have anything the thinner size of which I had been wearing in my nose for the past 3 or 4 years. They swore that "no one" sold nose jewelry as thin as what I had had in there. They would have to do a painful and irritating stretching process to my hole. When I balked, they somehow came up with another slightly thinner piece of jewelry and cut it off to fit. He promised it would not fall out, even though there was no ball or cap to hold it in inside my nose. This ill-fitting titanium nose ring cost me $45. Well, I woke up in the middle of the night last night with the jewlery having come almost all the way out of my nose. I tried to put it back in, but the inside of my nose peircing was already starting to close up and was swollen. I did not trust going back to Jewels32, so I went to Whatever Tattoo across the street, where I had originally gotten peirced. In literally less than 5 minutes, he had the exactly right nose jewelry and put it in my nose for me. All for $10!!!! I went by Jewelry32 and told the guy who had done all the shenanigans the night before what happened. He in essence blamed the situation on me, told me there was nothing to be done, and literally told me he did not care if I never came back in the store again. I am a very polite Southerner who always smiles and talks politely and respectfully even in conflict, so I was very taken aback. When I left, it hit me that a year before I had had an earring in my upper ear cartilage replaced there, and the girl who did it kept dropping the jewelry and couldn't get it in. Each time I smiled and told her it was ok, take her time. She finally got it in, but a day later, I had to go back again because the earring fell out. Very inconvienient. THESE PEOPLE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING, ARE POORLY TRAINED AND VERY RUDE even when you are very patient and kind with them. Peircings are delicate things that can get infected and cause major problems, and I will never trust Jewelry32 again. I spent a ton of money there, and when a problem THEY caused happened and I spoke up about it, they basically told me to eff-off. Will never go back. read more
