The cocktail was for the lack of a better description was boardwalk food, pizza, sliders, Stromboli, French fries, onion rings, pasta, steak. Nothing was great. The garden was created in 1912 when Sayen purchased the land with his wife Anne Mellon (of the Mellon family) and built a home in the Arts and Crafts style. The azaleas and rhododendrons are especially magnificent. We visited during the Azalea Festival over Mother's Day weekend, and the flowers were in full colorful splendor. There are ponds, gazebos, and walking trails around the property. My favorite are the wooded trails at one end of the park, but they aren't marked so you could end up wandering around trying to find the exit. Tip: you can find GPS map tracks in AllTrails and Gaia to stay oriented.

I asked if they could bring me another one out. They said there are no extras and that they do not serve made to order steak. Really?? Who screws fillets up? It rained so they closed the tent up. It was like being in a sauna. All the young men took their ties off and unbuttoned their shirts. How do you not have AC?? At the end of the evening when the 2 bartenders were trying to keep up with making drinks and getting the beer on ice, I overheard the one say that this group is brutal. It's ok to think that but you should probably keep your thoughts to yourself so guests don't hear you. They actually closed the bar up early.

I took an Uber from Downtown Philly to Pen Ryn Estate which took about 30 minutes. Somebody is there to direct cars where to go. I specifically heard the lady say "take the first left and keep going straight to River's Edge Garden Pavillion." What my Uber driver did was go all the way to the end and turn left. So, I second-guessed myself. I got dropped off at the wrong venue and I had to walk a loooooong way to the correct venue and I was late for the wedding (I was actually on time but late for my standards). I ran into other wedding guests attending somebody else's wedding trying to find their venue as well. This place is massive! We're talking acres of land. I made it to a shed and I asked somebody if I was at the right place - I had to be because I already passed 2 incorrect venues out of 3. And the gentleman told me to hop on the golf cart that would take me to River's Edge where the wedding is at. The golf cart driver asked if I was taking an Uber after the wedding and he told me what address to put in so I can get picked up directly from the wedding venue - which I found very helpful when I was ready to go back to my hotel late at night! The venue was nice. Since it was outdoors, you had to deal with some elements: strong winds, bugs and it got chilly close to sunset. You get a view of the river. Right behind us is a covered area like a tent where the reception is at. But it looked elegant inside. I'm very impressed by the food. The variety and quality of the food were fantastic. Probably the some of the best food I've had at a wedding. I was getting full during cocktail hour. The couple has Latin and Italian roots and their heritage were celebrated through food and I loved that. When I RSVP'ed for the wedding, I sent in my meal selection and I had forgotten I chose chicken. And I was filled with fear because catered chicken tends to be dry - not the one at this wedding. I enjoyed it so much. The wedding cake was made by a contestant on Food Network. But the spread for dessert was also fabulous. Overall, an impressive place for a wedding.

The dining hall accomodates up to 120 guests and their state of the art commercial kitchen is amazing! I love that there are no restrictions on catering your own event. The rental rate is reasonable and the time allotment is generous. I find the management to be professional, gracious and very accommodating.

The price for the wedding was incredible, we paid for an extra hour, the use of the full kitchen, (which is huge and industrial), we also paid to set up the night before and for them to clean up. With all the extra requests we had and all the extra time it was still incredibly affordable. I loved that I didn't have to choose a venue that made me use their baker and caterer. We chose our food and our favorite bakery. We were able to buy beer and wine cheaply and serve it via bartender. We saved heaps of money doing the wedding here and people loved the history that resonates from this place. You don't have to be a Quaker, Quaker's are incredibly accepting of everyone and this makes it great if you have a lot of guests that are different religions, or do not have religion. The customer service here is outstanding.Chris and Mathew are so understanding, unfortunately my daughter needed to change her wedding date and Venue due to COVID-19 and they were there for her every step of the way trying to accommodate her and assure her that everything would work out and be okay. Chris and Mathew were so nice and patient to work with especially during this stressful time with COVID happening. On her wedding day, Brooke's bridal assistant was absolutely AMAZING his name is David. He was by her side the the entire day and evening from the time she showed up at 8:30am to the time we left at 12:30am. He made sure she had everything that she needed and then some. all day. He also took great care of all of us as we got ready for the big day!The food was all so fabulous along with their desserts. All of her guests couldn't stop talking about how perfect this venue was and are still calling us to talk about the wedding that night!
