Pumpkin soup from The Christmas Day dinner menu.
Kimberly C.

3.5 stars. We had our Christmas Day dinner here after making a reservation on Open Table. The Evergreen Restaurant is located inside the Banff Royal Canadian Lodge which is convenient if you're staying in the hotel or nearby as we were. We were seated promptly, but it took forever for them to serve us. It was a set menu of pumpkin soup (smooth, creamy, loved the touch of maple), salmon for my husband, and fettuccine for me. (I cried inside when they said that there weren't any vegetarian options. But they were able to cook a fettuccine with vegetables in a cream sauce.) Dessert was a chocolate mousse over a tart topped with some Frangelicio whipped cream. I liked the chocolate mousse, but the tart was hard as a rock and difficult to eat. They did have free wifi which is always a plus for travelers and to kill time on during slow service. Probably wouldn't return as it was overpriced for the slow service and okay food... Maybe for the pumpkin soup.

Our food was really good, and so was our service. Our server was really nice and the bartender fixed a special mocktail for us. But we were the only people in the restaurant. 2 people were in the bar when we were seated, and 2 others arrived in the bar while we were eating. But that was it. Even the person at the front desk seemed surprised that we were there for dinner. Felt a little weird. Not sure why though since the food was really good!

The elk burger tasted reheated and not fresh off the grill. The only thing fresh on it was the tomato and the bun. The fries were mushy and soaked with grease. Undercooked frozen product? Whatever they were it was not good or worth 19.00

The 8 oz. burger with dinner salad and fries really hit the spot after our 9+ mile hike!

We stayed at the Royal Canadian Lodge for three nights. During our stay we had breakfast twice, and lunch and dinner once each at the Evergreen. The food was beautiful, tasted fabulous and the service was attentive and kind. It was reasonably priced, quiet, and also very convenient for us as guests of the hotel. We did a lot of hiking while we were there, including our child, and our tired legs appreciated having the option to not have to walk some more to get a great meal. This restaurant definitely deserves more than the average 3 stars. Thank you, Evergreen staff!

I visited Bear Street Tavern based off of a recommendation by a coworker. Beer and pizza is usually…read morea winning combination and Bear Street Tavern is a great example of this. Admittedly, I'm not much of a drinker but I'll have some once in a while and Bear Street seems to have a pretty good selection. I tried a Vietnamese Coffee Stout which I enjoyed. I'm definitely more of an eater than I am a drinker and the eats at Bear Street Tavern are excellent. My party got 2 pizzas and a salad and we enjoyed it all. To start we got the Tavern Bowl. It's a bunch of different vegetables with a Tahini Miso Dressing and kimchi on top. All the different textures and flavors worked really well together and the salad served as a nice break between bites of pizza. The Wheeler Hut pizza has mushrooms, ricotta, truffle oil, pesto, and mozzarella. If you're a fan of truffle flavor you'll enjoy this pizza. As soon as it was brought out I could already smell the truffle. The Mediterranean has olives, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, red onions, chili flakes, spinach, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze. A little busier than the Wheeler Hut, but it was equally delicious. I'm not sure which pizza I liked more. Both pizzas had a fantastic crust with some char. Substantial enough to stand up to the toppings but still a little doughy for a nice chew. The char gives a nice crunch as well. Service is quick and friendly and the prices are fair, especially in a tourist area. I definitely recommend Bear Street Tavern.

We ordered the wheeler hut pizza and the tavern bowl salad. Both were incredible! I'd highly recommend doing this combination on your next date night. We were both full and happy by the end.

May 12, 2026. Everything about the Maple leaf was…read moreoutstanding! My wife enjoyed a nice sparkling Prosecco to kick off the evening with our nice-sized Prince Edward Island oysters. We then shared a Waldorf salad, which was refreshing and nice. Then we both selected red wine varietals grown in Canada. I had a Cabernet/Merlot blend which was super great. Would've never guessed it was from Canada. Next, My wife enjoyed a Pinot Noir that was light and complimented our entrée perfectly. Our entrée was the fillet and prawns served over a garlic mashed potato. This is an absolutely extraordinary dish. We shared it and it was just enough for two people. It is a full meal for one person. The filet temperature preparation was perfect. The prawns were extraordinary, and the garlic mashed potato made you curl your toes! Then we closed the evening with the melted chocolate soufflé, which was divine. Here's the one thing that they missed and to me it's an important miss. They use an automated system for taking reservations. And it kept asking for my name to which I said "Chris" and the automated system kept asking me what's your name!? So it asked hey fourth time and in my frustration I got playful and I said "Big Daddy." And it happily received my name and took my reservation. And then asked if there was any special occasion and I said yes my wife and I are celebrating our anniversary. I get that it may not seem normal to say "Big Daddy party for two". So I'll kind of let that pass because neither front door or upstairs Host was willing to ask. But what I don't like that was missed was our anniversary wasn't acknowledged. I was a server for years, and every host gave the server some type of chit or note to let them know if there is a special occasion. We specifically selected a higher end restaurant for anniversary. So somewhere in there, even if you weren't brave enough to say "Big Daddy for two." Someone still should've checked if you were celebrating any special occasion to which we were. Our anniversary. Our server was fabulous. She was super kind helpful and shared about her experience being in Banff. She made us feel great. My overall experience, the Mapleleaf is a great restaurant. But I'm scoring you an A- because you missed our anniversary. and that's why we chose you. So if you're going to use AI, you can't miss special occasions. Chris & Trisha from Long Beach, CA

Soup Sandwiches to the rescue!!…read more After a day of hiking and exploring in the Mountains, we were tired, sore, and hangry. Noshing throughout the day we were set on a good soup and sandwich combo. We checked multiple locations and either it was high-end foo foo or just more than we want or just worse. It was pub grub and they had one soup and they weren't sure what it was. We found Wild Flour. They offer multiple soups and sandwiches and a few treats. Kathy selected a carrot fennel bowl (massive) and served with fresh bread and butter, I had a meat and cheese grilled cheese on a focaccia bread, Of course we "shar-zies" and the comfort was enjoyed. The team at 630pm was helpful and prompt guided us as we had not eaten at Wild Flour. Good food, reasonably priced for Banff is a find. Go to Wild Flour and enjoy... we did.

The almond paste is to die for - clearly amongst the best. Sweet and rich but not too sweet. Clearly they bake it themselves and it's very substantial. I tried the apple pie cinnamon oat tea latte. Yes the name is a mouthful. It is an amazing drink. Wonderful taste! Good place to stop by and hang out in the morning. Not crowded and people are just hanging out on their laptops etc.

This cute little cabin like restaurant is all about the experience but the food is just as good…read more They have vintage décor and Rocky Mountain charm throughout. One of my favourite dishes is the fondue dinner in multi course version. I love their hearty ooey gooey French onion soup but you can opt for the salad if you're wanting something light and fresh prior to the decadent items that lie ahead. The cheese fondue is as good as every cheese fondue I've ever tasted but you can try a bunch of different game meat for the next course. The game ranges from buffalo, venison, to wild boar. I went with the venison which is so delicious when cooked right and finally ended with the sweet velvety chocolate fondue. The wait staff are friendly, quick and make the experience so much more enjoyable through interactive cooking and good old charm.
