Attended a wedding here and everything was just perfect! First off, the view is undeniably breathtaking. We were here for early dinner and we witnessed the sun setting. While waiting for everyone to come & settle down, they were serving appetizers. Everything on the menu was so delicious. Drinks were good! Tried the wine they were offering - Cabernet, ot was earthy, dry, just perfect. I had mocktails but decided that a shot of tequilla won't hurt. Had to do a repeat on that - yep, it was that good. Main course was absolutely light. Had the chicken, my dad had the fish, and my mom had the beef - we had a taste of everything. The dessert was a flourless chocolate cake that tasted really good. I was surprised at how goodot was. I did not get to try their menu because it was already pre ordered but i would definitely be trying it out next time. Before I forget, staff was super accomodating. They made sure everyone had their parking validated, etc. There is parking but can get packed easily so plan ahead. read more

The restaurant is a very spacious well kept establishment. Now we were in town celebrating a birthday party so you're going to have to bare with me because it's been a few days and I'm still recovering and putting pieces together from the nights festivities. The wait staff was pleasant knowledgeable and accommodating. We were in a large party so we had a semi private dining area. Their specialty cocktails were great and very appealing to the eye in regard to the presentation upon delivery to the table. Very well put together flavour notes hit. The noise level in the restaurant was perfect for socializing so no complaints there. We did have a large party which probably pushed the kitchen staff a bit because some of the plating of a few dishes came out and were not complete ( 2out3 dishes came missing some plating components) when we made a comment to the waiter he went to investigate. They realized the issue and made a course correction on our bills which was appreciated. I hade the pork chops and I'll say the plating presentation was good but the quality of the the chops not so much, now I've worked in the industry in the past so I usually give a wide birth when it comes to the doneness of my proteins. But these were over cooked or seemed to have been cooked from a frozen state because they were dry as an Alberta summer. Not to mention tough and for that reason is why I'm only giving a 3 out of 5. Pork chops should be cooked through but full of juice these definitely missed the mark. The other components of the dish were great cooked proper with a perfect balance of seasoning. I'd come stop in again if I was in town but I'd probably wouldn't get the chops again. read more

A group of 7 of us were in town for a working weekend and after a busy day of working on our annual company plan, we headed to Sensory. We were staying downtown so it was a nice 15 min walk. The food was all delicious, well plated and flavourful. With that being said we did wait almost an hour for our food to arrive. The restaurant was busy and our server was amazing. He made sure our waters were always full and was very helpful with ordering/ suggestions and allergy concerns. At the end of the night instead of making us choose dessert he arranged for a special dessert tastigg by plate for us which was amazing! He also gave us the iPad to control the music in our area once we were the only ones in that area left, we had a great time and almost our own little dance party. Thank you Andre! This place is great and I really recommend it! Only reason for not being 5 stars was just the delay in our mains. Will definitely be back!! read more

This is a hard review to write. Based on the website, we thought this was a high end restaurant for our last night in Canmore. But the space is more like a corporate event space. The wait staff was very friendly and informed us that they sold off the main restaurant area to Brokin Yolk and just use their kitchen in the evenings. The food was good but they discontinued their "Trust the Chef" menu the day before so have a very limited a la carte menu with only one vegetarian item that doesn't change (tough for repeat clientele). High end prices for a restaurant with very little ambiance. I think they should focus on catering. read more

The Sensory became my favorite restaurant in Canmore on our last night there. I started off the night with a spicy pineapple margarita and if my tolerance wasn't so low, I probably could've have drank five of those - perfect amount of spicy and not overly sweet! For dinner, two of us ordered the chef's 3 course menu. We did not know what we were going to get ahead of time and each dish was a delightful surprise! We started off with a short rib dish, followed by a raspberry sorbet palate cleanser. The main dish was my favorite - salmon and mussels in some type of savory chorizo sauce/broth. IT WAS SO GOOD. For dessert, we had a baked Brie with gooseberries on top. It was lovely, but I think I would've preferred a non-cheese dessert after the heavy main dish. 10/10 would recommend! read more

Wow! We went for a hike yesterday and met a local couple who recommended this place. Amazing! First, get a reservation and second; try their mystery tasting menu. It's definitely worth the experience. This is a foodie paradise. The presentations are amazing, service was outstanding and the tastes were incredible. We didn't know what to expect, but ended up enjoying a gravade lachs, beef short rib, ahi steak over fresh veggies and a lemoncello fingerling desert. Our friends had gambas, lamb pasta, char and the Caesar salad. There wasn't a bite left on the table! Try this restaurant! The chef is superb. read more

The food was average and the service was also average. They try to be high end but it is not. My short rib was dry. My mushroom was didn't have much taste. My wife ordered the vegan chocolate cake and it also was dried. Supposed to come with coconut sorbet but it was not even coconut. Disappointed and would not go back again. read more

Delicious food and relaxing ambiance after a weekend of busy dining experiences. Fantastic wait staff and very attentive to my 3 year olds needs while I was still able to enjoy an incredible 3 course meal and wine. Gotta tell you Alberta peeps! We were wondering how to celebrate Lori's birthday given the Covid situation. Well, we were in Canmore, surrounded by the glory of the Rockies - had our accommodation sorted but not sure how we could celebrate via supper. And then we find Sensory restaurant. They have a "Trust Me" menu option. A 3 course menu where you tell them what you CAN'T eat and you leave the rest to them! Well, let me tell you! This was the best meal we've had in YEARS! They opened their upstairs patio - we were the only ones there! They paired each course for us, and the wine pairings were wonderful. While visiting the Banff area, someone suggested that we try The Sensory as we were looking for a place to celebrate my birthday. We were able to easily make a reservation for my special day. We opted to order from the menu instead of the trust us meal--we weren't feeling adventurous that day. For starters, the charcuterie board and chili gambas were very good. My husband ordered the steak for his main and he wasn't too impressed. I ordered the arctic chard and it was quite tasty. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive. read more

Tried this restaurant with Alberta on the Plate festival. Food started off great, but found hair in our food. They took one of the meals off and we chalked up the experience to an unfortunate circumstance. Was invited back to try their dinner service, we called and made a reservation and wasn't told that the dinner service ended 30min earlier than our reservation. Plus we were running 10min late and called in advance to let them know and again another missed opportunity to let us know that we wouldn't be able to do the dinner service. We arrive and one of the managers is waiting at the front and tells us we can't do the dinner service as it ended 45min earlier. We let her know that we were not informed of this prior and we were extremely disappointed that we drove out to give it a try. She turned us away and as we got into our vehicle she ran out and offered to let us do the dinner service as long as we didn't mind that it would be rushed. I did not appreciate that the offer was made after completely turning us away considering we were giving the restaurant a second chance already. A new restaurant in Canmore with fantastic views and interesting dishes. The Tacos with Bison were delicious and the burger was excellent. The flatbread was more like a focaccia bread pizza. One person in our party ordered wine and they were out of that wine but offered a sample of two other wines to taste. The surroundings are tasteful and trendy. Ambiance quiet enough to have conversations and the service was good too. We would go back when we are in the area again. read more

Stopped in here to grab a bite the day we landed. Service was excellent. The bartender was very knowledgable, accommodating and gave us great recommendations. This place is spacious, clean and open. We had the beets me salad, 50 shades of grey poupon sliders and the flatbread. It was all delicious. If you like ciders, try the Time and Place cider. Its very refreshing on a hot day. And, tasting menus (3 or 7 courses) that are reasonably priced with great selections. We liked it so much, we went two nights in a row when we first discovered the place. This has been our 'go to' place for celebration and special occasions for a few years. Our previous reviews would have offered 6 stars if possible we were always so pleased especially with the 'trust me menu' and wine pairings. However we were somewhat disappointed last night. The appetizer was mussels in marinara. The sauce was too salty. The wine was a white Beaujolais which was over the hill. Not bad per se but no acidity and only hint of fruit showing its age The main course was delicious and the wine pairing excellent. The dessert was a slightly blackened strudel for one of us, ok for the other The wine paring was another 'tired aging' late harvest BC wine that would have been excellent 6months ago. First Class all the way. Had dinner there tonight. Some of the best roasted chicken ever. Served with butter with a little mashed potatoes mixed in , best ever heirloom carrots mixed between well done and medium. Veal Demi sauce on the side to die for. Seriously it was perfect. Janice had the fresh wild caught Halibut with fettuccine morel ...perfectly cooked and I only was offered one bite. Forgot to mention the Scallops for an appetizer.. the barley hush puppy .. not sure how to describe it but a little bit of it and scallop dipped in the sauce it was setting in.. perfect. Phenomenal restaurant with great staff. They use lots of great local food and their creations are imaginative and unbelievably savory. One of our group tried their chicken burger and quickly stated it was the best they had ever had. We had their pasta, which was elegantly presented and tasted amazing - and if I recall correctly, was made of flour made from the bark from local trees. If you're looking for something above the cut...this is it. It's a relatively new restaurant on the scene, but one of our favorites. read more

Not one person in our party of 10 received a meal accurate to what the menu described. The steak was about half the size advertised, and they replaced ingredients such as cheese without asking or letting us know before we received it. The "flat bread" was a thick focaccia, with red sauce rather than pesto...among many other inconsistencies. On top of all the food being underwhelming and not what we ordered it was extremely over priced. Save your money for one of the other 'fine dining' restaurant's in Canmore. read more

Below average restaurant for the expensive price. Upon impression the atmosphere was very pleasant. We sat downstairs, it was not very busy. Once we ordered drinks it took about 20 minutes to receive them. We then ordered food- the appetizer arrived very quickly but our food took about 45 minutes. The owner approached us and said there was confusion in the kitchen and that he apologized for the wait. Once we received our food you could tell some of it had been sitting for a while. The food was average to below average. We ordered 2 flatbread pizzas for $18 each and they were very tiny. We were given complementary jelly candies as desert for the inconvenience. For a $170 dollar meal, the value was not there. read more

We did the try me tasting at this restaurant 5/10/22. Our first course was pork medallions. Most were overcooked and tough. There was peach BBQ sauce to accompany and 1 plate had 1/4 cup and other plate had 1 T. 2nd course was duck confit, which i was very excited for. The duck was super SALTY. That was honestly all you could taste. There were also potatoes on the plate, on 1 plate they were cooked, other plate they were raw. 3rd course was a small stacked cake. Plates again did not match, 1 had a jelly in between layers, other did not. I tasted the jelly on the other plate and it was awful. Waiter brought another dessert which was a vegan chocolate cake. It was honestly inedible and i could not swallow it. I suggested they not serve it to other guests. Waiter was good and comped us 1 of the tasting menu meals, food was terrible. I would not recommend anyone go to this restaurant. read more

Not budget prices but reasonable by Canmore standards ( even pub burgers are $18-$25). From the munch menu we tried the Chicken burger, beet salad, and pork appy. This place is a disaster! We walked in and nobody was at the front desk. Hostess appeared and started walking us upstairs. We were only there for Apps and Drinks. Well, upstairs is Dinner only and downstairs is completely different Menu. Two different Menus and you can not order from the other one if you are in the same building?? Get your Chef in line! The Hostess brought us back down to the front desk and said "You can seat yourself" We sat ourselves and ordered drinks. We ordered our Apps and waited 15-20 minutes for our drinks. This is when is goes from bad to worse - Our food arrived. My Pork Belly was straight out of the deep fryer. Completely un-seasoned, tough and very chewy. I sent it back. The Fish cakes are edible, but the Chimichuri Sauce had so much Vinegar is completely ruined the dish. The Prawns - The Prawns are not Prawns, but 5 little frozen shrimp that were not cleaned or seasoned. They also left the tail on, so trying to eat these shrimp is challenging. Is there a Chef in this place?? The food was Brutal & we just had Appetizers. This place is way over-priced for what you get & what we got was horrible! read more
